Welcome to Traditional Foods Answers
Open Question: Why are people from Western World (US,UK etc) not family oriented?
I just went to a traditional Greek wedding and I was so shocked and so jealous. They are sooo family oriented. The traditional food (kebob, hummus) on every table with dancing. The uncles hugging their nieces nephews. The family respected and catering to the grannies grandpas and their friends etc etc. The music, the singing. SO beautiful and ethnic. moreOpen Question: What does the term "holistic" mean to you?
From time to time you see people in here referring to a dog food as "holistic", or to a 'holistic' vet. Even garbage dog foods are nutritionally complete and balanced - so what makes a "holistic" dog food "holistic"? IMO - the term "holistic" as applied to dog food - is an empty marketing gimmick The "holistic" medicine term makes a little more sense - look at the dogs health from the broader perspective than just the clinical medical perspective ... but what's the difference between "holistic" and "homeopathic" here? Does a holistic vet blend traditional medicine with more - whereas a homeopathic vet largely rejects traditional medicine? moreOpen Question: Restaurant food choice?

I despise the typical hamburger/hot dog menu that is typically served at kids parties. I am looking for something interesting and delicous (and maybe even healthy!) to serve my guests at my son's birthday party. As for my son, he eats everything. He has no food aversions whatsoever. Any yummy, creative ideas? I don't care how un-traditional the idea's are. There is no real 'theme' just mostly a lime green & blue deal... it is going to be small, only about 12 people including 3 or 4 kids. The party is starting at 12 since that's when my son is happiest, so I will need to serve some kind of lunch. moreOpen Question: What is your favorite foot?
PERU RESTAURANT Peru restaurant is famous throughout South America for its food. As a major fishing nation, fish is abundant, and prepared with imagination. The primary ingredients found in nearly every Peruvian dish are rice, potatoes, chichen, pork, lamb, and fish. Most of these meals include one of the different kinds of "aji", or Peruvian hot pepper, which mainly are: yellow aji pepper, red aji pepper, red rocoto pepper PERU RESTAURANT Chicken, pork and lamb were introduced to Peru 500 years ago, when Spaniards came to America. Other ingredients, like potatoes, were already being grow in the Peruvian Andes and were taken by the Spaniards back to Europe. PERU RESTAURANT Today more than 200 varieties of potato can be found in the Lake Titicaca area. They range in color from purple to blue, from yellow to brown. Sizes and textures vary as well. Some are smalls as nuts; others can be as large as oranges. Following are some of the dishes and foods that can found in Peru restaurant. • Pescado y Mariscos (Fish and Seafood) – Anything with fish is a great bet. Ceviche is the most famous. Peruvians "cook" fine white cod in lemon juice, serve it chunky with onions and spices. In the mountains, you can find "trucha," the local fresh Andean trout, generally farm raised. • Comida Criolla – This is the term for the traditional Peruvian dishes. Aji de gallina (spicy chicken stew), lomo saltado (stir-fry beef), chupe (fish stew) anticuchos (marinated beef heart). So, I got a girl from Thailand pregnant, and I just got custody. The kid is 7, and speaks no English. What do I feed him? Do I try to feed him traditional Thai foods? What would that be? Or do I feed him normal American foods? Do different races have different nutritional needs? The kid isn't Thai-American. He lived in Thailand all his life. Would it be too much of a shock to his system to switch from rice to Big Macs all of a sudden? I know if you switch the brand of food a dog eats, it can cause diarrhea. Does that apply to small children to? (OK, terrible analogy, but you get the idea). moreResolved Question: Foods that are surprisingly high in protein?
Looking for ideas to "sneak" protein into the diet in non-traditional ways.Totally averse to meat, fish, poultry, beans, quinoa.Tolerates milk and yogurt in small amounts.Cheese, eggs, nuts o.k. if totally hidden i.e. pancakes made with eggs, but not scrambled eggs.Things along the lines of: your favorite rice pudding recipe if it is made with milk or products like barilla plus pasta (made with legume flour for increased protein), and others.....All ideas appreciated!!! moreResolved Question: Monster in law!? Help me please? Warning: SUPER LONG?
First of it all started when we were first planning our wedding. (This lady is very controlling and very opinionated...her and my mom first got into it when my and my fiance 10 years ago were 16 and she told my mom that she didn't like how she was raising me and thought I shouldn't have a curfew.) So they already didn't like each other because the first time you meet somebody you don't go telling them how to raise their child. She always wanted the traditional catholic wedding. My fiance is catholic. We tried different catholic churches but they all brushed us off. Maybe because I am agnostic. Maybe because we've been living together for a while. Maybe because we never attended their church. I don't know. But she flipped out and said she was going to give the pastor a piece of her mind. She tried to micromanage the wedding...but me and my fiance got everything planned...everything booked and didn't tell her until we had it all done because we know how she is. She then proceeded to give us guilt trips about a guy in the family who would have catered mexican food for us for free but no....we had to have that fancy hall. She tried to take over the flowers. Told her it was already done. She told me that we have to invite all these people from the family or else she will look bad. I told her due to budget concerns we may need to downsize (his family is HUGE!) and my fiance noticed that she put people on the list who he never heard of. She paid for the cake (we finally let her pay for something.) We paid for the DJ ourselves because she said that she wants us to do the dollar dance and that she doesn't care if I don't want to dance to it...that I'm going to do it. I didn't like the tone in her voice...so I contacted the DJ and told him the deal. He sent me a copy of the contract saying that the dollar dance won't be there without my permission. She called me one day and railroaded me with a list of things and told me I need to get on them. SHE STILL HASN'T EVEN GIVEN ME THE GUEST LIST! And the wedding is in 7 months I would like to have the guest list now because invitations take a few months but she is stalling. She keeps saying a couple days and a couple days and so on. She asked me okay...so how about mints and nuts? (She wants to get in the venue ahead of time so she can tell my parents how the decorations should go....yes she is that manipulative and no I am not crazy) I said sure. She said how about unity candle? She said they would pay and I said sure that sounds great. She then talked about bridal shower and I said my mom is throwing it and I don't know if it would be okay because I know they don't get along and she didn't say anything. She asked me about holding a regular bible with my bouquet down the aisle...saying she gave it to my fiance when he was a baby...I said it probably won't fit in my bouquet and I politely said no and she got very angry and said "fine whatever!" She asked about buying a keg of beer from the hall and I said I will have to call and she said, "You better get on that!" She also said..."You know...if you had used Greg's cousin for caterer...he would have given you the food for free and I would have bought you really nice champagne!" ***GUILT TRIP GUILT TRIP** I said I know but it's too late for that now and she said yes it is. So my fiance said that he would hold the bible because he said he knows that he's his mom's baby boy and so it would probably mean more to her to hold it. I talked to my mom about bridal shower and she said she will extend the olive branch so to speak and invite his mom and his 8 aunts because she wants to mend fences and get along again. My friends and family agreed that there would be too much drama going on if she is there with her mints and telling people what to do with decorations. I was so scared to call her back...I was shaking. She intimidates me. My friends were with me giving me strength and putting their hands on my shoulders. I even made a list because when I stress my mind blanks out. So I talked to her and was very calm yet firm and polite. I told her that the venue will provide the nuts and mints (thought they don't.) She said, "are you sure?" I said, "Yes it is in the contract." (Don't know how I will cover my tracks on this one later.) I then said that my fiance would love to hold the bible since it holds sentimental value to her and she did, after all, give it to him as a baby. She goes, "No that's okay, I'll just give it to the grandkids." **WHAT!? If it held that much sentimental value to her, why can't he hold it? And I'm not catholic and it wasn't given to me by her. It hurt him that she wouldn't let him hold it!!** I told her about the bridal shower and it was at my mom's I told her about the bridal shower and it was at my mom's house....she said...never mind I will just have one separate. I said, "She can hold a lot of people at the house..." She goes.."Um..the weather...I don't know." She then said, just have your family do it. That was so wrong...I told her my mom is more than happy to have them over but she made up some dumb excuses. My friends told me that if she has one with just me and her family...that is will be uncomfortable for me and they probably will push the dollar dance and other stuff down my throat until I cave. They are very right. She is that manipulative. You have never met her but I've known her for 10 years. My friends told me that if she has one with just me and her family...that is will be uncomfortable for me and they probably will push the dollar dance and other stuff down my throat until I cave. They are very right. She is that manipulative. You have never met her but I've known her for 10 years. She freaked out about the dollar dance and said, "Well, I told EVERYBODY in the family you were having it!!" I said, "maybe you should have checked with us first." She then retaliates with, "EVERY wedding I have been to has it!" I simply replied with, "Not every wedding out there is the same, it depends on what the bride and groom want." She retorted with, "Fine, be DIFFERENT! It's ALL about YOU!!" She then said, I HAVE TO GO! And hung up on me.I was shaking and bewildered at her reaction. I got home, and couldn't hold it in any longer. I started crying. My fiance said he will handle her from now on. He talked to his friends and got the perspective that maybe she wanted the wedding a certain way and was angry to not see it go that way. She has three sons, one of which had the traditional catholic wedding of her dreams, so it's not like she never got to experience that. She's even really close with the daughter in law. Probably because they are both so simillar. Greg wonders if maybe she is afraid of losing her baby boy. I wonder if maybe she just doesn't like somebody to have an opinion different than hers. What do we do, and why is she this way? I really am sick of the stress....I want only one bridal shower...we need the guest list...and she is being SUPER difficult. Please help thank you.I apologize for length. moreVoting Question: How would Naan Bread be served in India?
I have a food and hospitality assignment i'm doing and it's based around flat breads, the flat bread in which i've chosen is Naan. I am 15 years old, 16 in November and I am 120 pounds, mostly muscle weight because I run A LOT with cross country and I am planning to run a marathon in Dec. I have been thinking about modeling, but I have a few problems. First of all I am only 5'5" and I have no idea if I will get taller than that, both my parents are over 5'8" so I still have hope... Anyway there is the problem of my nose. It is slightly more of a rounded nose than an aquiline nose and I fear it would not be accepted as a traditional model feature. I have a hard time losing these small amounts of weight my body gains because it uses the food I eat so efficiently so when I am not in running season I can gain up to 5 pounds or more! I was wondering if becoming a vegetarian might work and how exactly I would go about that. I live in Hawaii so it could be hard to get discovered here. I was just wondering how others got over these issues, since I am not a bombshell naturally with my round nose, but I have the model features. Do they accept less than perfect models? Or is there no other option than plastic surgery? And yes, I want to be a model. Thanks for your help! moreOpen Question: Need health advice, please help!!!?
Hi, I'm in middle school, and in the town I live in pretty much 99% of the girls here either play softball, soccer, lacrosse, gymnastics, or some combo of those sports. The people who don't are naturally stick-thin. I'm one of the girls that doesn't play anything. I'm 4 ft. 11 in. (yes I know I'm small) and my weight bounces between 114 lbs. and 119 lbs. Here are some problems I need to work on: I just like eating food. I snack a lot, and there's not really many healthy snacks around. I prefer the taste of a lot of unhealthy foods to healthy ones. I actually love to exercise. I kinda like tennis, swimming, and maybe even softball. But the thing is, #1. I like traditional gym workouts, but I'm too young to join a gym, #2. Joining a sport costs money, #3. I'm scared of team sports. All my friends would be on higher levels than me and I'd HATE the pressure of games. Pressure with me can be unpredictable. I will either work harder than usual or freak out and be horrible. #4. I LOVEEE jogging but I run slowly so I can't join a team. And I'd feel embarassed to run just by myself in a park. No one in my town does any other exercise besides sports so I feel like people would think I was a weirdo. I don't know what to do anymore. I hate it when all my friends keep saying, "Really? I don't know how anyone couldn't love sports!" I also feel horrible about the fact that I hate trying on clothes at the mall and that I don't wear bikinis while everyone else does. I hate that I feel self conscious about my weight when I talk to a guy and that I can't seem to fit into ANY jeans at Abercrombie. Or any skinny jeans for that matter. And I love skinny jeans. (I am kinda curvy though..are my jean issues because of that or my weight??) And just so you know, even though I would never develop an eating disorder, I think I weigh myself too much. I do it at least once everyday. And sometimes I get mad at myself if I gain just a pound. Please help me with my health problems. As much advice as possible please! Also sorry if this is waaayyy 2 long :) Thanks! (Also..if this helps I already only eat whole grain bread and I love water and I hate fast food chains and have cut waaayyy down on my soda drinking, the problem is I like to eat out a LOT at small restaurants. Also my mom is very good with diet and nutrition and is healthy and happy, I just feel awkward asking for advice) moreVoting Question: Questions for supporters of prayer in schools, teaching the "controversy," etc.?
Do you have principles? Or, if not principles, do you have the slightest peripheral notion that people exist in America that believe differently than you do? I ask because it would seem that, if you had either of these, you would soon realize that your persistent campaign to Christianize America makes no sense. It is not only a display of utter contempt toward the Constitutional principles on which our country is founded, but it is also one of the most shockingly narrow-minded, shamelessly hypocritical ideological movements ever bred in this country. This latter point may come as a surprise. Hypocrisy is not a common charge against your group (being, as there are, plenty of more obvious ones to choose from), but there can be no doubt that your rhetoric reeks with it. So far I have not heard a single convincing argument (and, for that matter, very few arguments at all) to the point that you have the executive privilege to enforce your religious interpretations by law. And yet, on the oft-chanted yet never-proved basis that America was founded as a "Christian nation," you hijack our legislature, our court system, and even our schools, and conform them to your image until you've done all but establish a state religion. So, to prevent my "question" from turning into a rant, I want to propose a hypothetical situation, and then follow it with a question I've wanted to know the answer to for quite some time. --- Suppose that the Anti-Defamation League lobbied members of Congress to pass a bill mandating the closure of all businesses from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, with an earmarked ban on pork sales. The force behind the proposed bill would be the widely-lamented absence of traditional Jewish values in American culture, where non-kosher foods are regularly consumed without pause and synagogues have had to close due to poor attendance. Against all expectations, the bill would pass through both houses, and get signed into law by the president. --- Would you complain? And if you would, then why do you turn a deaf ear when non-Christians complain about you doing essentially the same thing? moreVoting Question: Is it true that Taco Bell's food isn't really traditional Mexican food?

A Chinese, Greek or Russian in those countries are more intact with their culture and traditions. You just see it in their weddings for example. The dances, the traditional food music etc etc...The foundation of their family and relatives are so much more stronger than when they become American. But for some reason, America takes all that away. They become a workaholic credit card spending robot. 50% divorce and they careless to be family oriented. You barely see home traditional food cooked and family dinner parites etc. If it happens, its like once a year max. The weddings for example become boring with default food and "modern" music. moreResolved Question: Creative ways to kill a vampire for novel purposes?
I am currently working and reworking some of my novels and i was thinking how can i stand out more in the saturated genre of the supernatural i know their are a lot of TRADITIONAL killing methods out there but i want to be different what can i say i don't live well if im just normal but anyway im looking for some feedback as creative as your brains can come up with! Some background info on my 'novel vampires' they can go out in sunlight although it hurts their eyes they eat around once or twice a month HUMAN FOOD to keep up the facade of being a 'human' and for some nutritional purposes they sleep but not very often maybe once every two months and that is only around two or three hours long basically my novel vampires are like 'humans' but since they live so damn long everything is delayed aging, getting hungry, sleep cycle everything is basically draw out because of their life span the only thing different is their life span, really strong, and they drink blood (but that's a given) lol thanks for helping btw i don't technically believe in vampires but hey anything possible ever heard of Elizabeth Bathory? I live in the Atlanta, GA area. If the location is between Atlanta and Chattanooga, that's acceptable. Looking for ideas outside the box. Time of year: Fall Budget: $1,800 would prefer if it's closer to $1,000. Ceremony location: scenic - garden, park, etc. Atlanta botanical gardens waaayyyy too expensive, but that's the idea. Do community parks/gardens usually set up chairs for us? It's real non-traditional. No cake necessary. No registries, party favors, etc necessary. No wedding attendants (brides maid, groomsmen, etc) No need to pay for officiant - we've got that covered. Somewhere nice for dinner/brunch/afterward within a 15 minute drive of ceremony location. If the place had live entertainment, that would be awesome. No "have wedding at home" answers. I don't feel like it's nice enough for me to get dressed up and all prettier than I'll ever be just to have a wedding/reception at home. I can always have a party at our home for friends an family, but I want this to be a bit nicer.I don't want to have to be concerned about coordinating different vendors - the tent people, the food people, etc. to bring stuff to the house. That's more hands on planning than I really want. I'm hoping to do my bouquet and his boutonniere on my own. Looking fwd to that actually. I plan to get the flowers from a supermarket and make a nice cascade bouquet. :D So far I've looked into Golf courses. Which I really like the idea, and the price, I thought was reasonable-she worked with us to be able to have ceremony and reception+food for just under $1800. Wondering why I'm still asking? Because has has brought up the "at home" idea, and I'd prefer to have many options/suggestions for when I try to debunk that idea. This has gotten completely out of hand. There are many areas along the Mississippi River where people can't fish, swim or ski anymore for fear of being knocked out or killed by these hugh flying fish! Imagine if you can, 10-20 lb fish jumping into your boat as you idle in a side channel of the Mississippi River. A classic fish story, but one that has become true in the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. In reality, it is a situation than can be downright hazardous especially when a 20-lb fish comes flying at your head. Biologists from the Long Term Resource Monitoring Program have reported being hit multiple times by large jumping fish on the Mississippi River north of St. Louis while electrofishing to sample fish populations. Unfortunately, the fish in this case is the bighead carp, not exactly the fish of dreams, because they have little or no value as a game fish. In addition to their jumping ability these fish are notable for their appearance and their size. the location of their eyes which are located far forward and low on the head gives a fish a rather bizarre appearance. These fish grow incredibly fast and reach about 25 inches by the second ear, eventually reaching over 28 inches long and 40 to 50 pounds. In Some Bank Waters of the Mississippi River and in some locations in Indiana, (which are now filled with big head, silver and some common carp rather than native fish species(, commercial fishermen have had to abandon their traditional fish and style because the carp are so large and abundant the fishermen can't even lift their nets. The big head were brought to the U. S.in 1973 from China to help improve the water quality and control plankton populations (microscopic animals and plants( in catfish farms, initially in Arkansas. By 1978, space the importation and possession of an of big head carp was prohibited, a but the damage had already been done. Big head carp had already escaped into nearby river works. Farmed fish ponds are not closely controlled or monitored and are often located in bottom lands that are subject to flooding, thereby offering an easy escape route for these exotic carp. become true in the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Unfortunately, the fish in this case is the bighead carp, not exactly the fish of dreams, because they have little or no value as a game fish. Big head carp filtered feed on zooplankton which puts them in direct competition for food with paddlefish, bigmouth Buffalo, and gizzard shad as well as all the young native fish. The carp have the edge on our native species because of their large section volume, and voracious appetites, which enables them to quickly decimate concentrations of zooplankton. To make matters worse, the carp are also prolific breeders and they got so large so fast that not much else is big enough to eat them. Eventually the big head carp found its way into the Mississippi and Missouri River systems and is currently reported in 22 states including Iowa, Illinois, and South Dakota. They are furthest northern points so far on the Mississippi is the dam at Cape Cod, Iowa. However, officials report big head carp stacking up like cord wood below dams on the Missouri, Des Moines and the upper Mississippi River's trying to penetrate upstream River reaches. In the culture of the day and perhaps even today, when someone was said to be the son of something then it meant that they were of the nature of that thing. For example, if you were called the son of a wagon, then you were thought to be of the nature of a wagon (what ever that means, mayhap you like to carry stuff). Or the son of a rock might mean you were lazy or something. The son of God would mean that you were of the nature of God. I have no idea why I am posting this, I have a headache and I am kinda bored. I don't mean to offend people, I am not anti Christian so leave your anti religious comments with you and stop eating food with your butt. I will probably delete this if there are only stupid comments, besides it is a stupid question. But I think that this fact lends credence to the beliefs of the Gnostics over the "traditional" Christians.Seriously people, stop eating food with your butt (and spewing crap out of your mouths). Thanx for all of the serious answers. I am trying to make "eating food with you butt" a smart a$$ response to all the anti religious hate speech on yahoo. Yeah it is childish but it goes both ways. also, I am a Buddhist if it matters to anyone, please report as abuse the response that is an obvious vulgar thingy. It might not be viewable to those posting a response later.@ lindaloo, you are not responding to my point. " Christianity" does not teach anything because it is so diverse. What I am stating is a matter of fact, this is what the culture of the day did. And it was the Culture of Jesus. It is not an issue with me because I am a non Christian. But I like history and stuff.@ modadyo, it means "of the nature of God". It was/is a metaphor. moreResolved Question: Did you buy new clothes for Eid ul Fitr yet? =D?

I always like Eid, like watching fireworks at night, eating together with family members and visit friends' houses or vacation! Then I can eat sweets, traditional cookies and stuffs. I also like to go to bazaar and buy foods! Wow, did you buy new clothes yet? =)Yup, I still feel sorry for the poors. Especially going to the bazaar, they only buy rotten fish. Hope I can help them, but I don't have enough money. But my parents still pay for the zakat for the poors. Alhamdulilah. =)I live in Malaysia, so it might be quite different from your countries. Anyway, I won't go for a vacation on Ramadhan because I'll be really tired but on Eid, maybe I do. Hehehe =)Thanks =) AssalamualainaFancy That! And yeah, my family is planning to go to Bali and I really want to dive in. =)LOL! Maybe we will meet there, insyaAllah. They really look tall, but it's fine to me because many of them are really friendly and smiley. Hey, do you know how to speak in malay or indonesian? =)Oops : LOL! That really does sound like indonesian. =P Space Gazer : I'm really sorry to hear that. The point is, during Eid, muslims are recommended to wear new clothes(you don't have to if you're insufficient of money). Anyway, I'm quite confused when you said that you're the only muslim in your family? so are you a convert or your husband? It's not necessary to celebrate Eid with non - muslim, you can even just celebrate it with your husband or children. I, myself have faced such problem too. I have rich cousins, and we're just plain, but they don't consider us as maid instead of cousin. When we visit them during Eid, they'll tell us to clean the dishes, make a bed for them and clean the house. Oh, it's such a horrible memory for my family and I. I have vowed that I'll never celebrate Eid with them again. Assalamualaina. moreVoting Question: Where can i find a traditional uae food restaurant in abu dhabi?
moreResolved Question: Why do cons support corn subsidies?
4 major corporations pretty much run the food industry and pay farmers and their workers terribly. They also receive corn subsidies that makes most food (considering it'll contain corn of some sort) artificially lower than organic and healthier options. With obesity a huge problem in the US and more and more traditional farmers losing their livelihoods because of the large corporations why do conservative politicians lobby the hardest for this? Shouldn't these businesses be forced to compete fairly with the smaller guys? Or is socialism for the rich ok here? moreResolved Question: Is a barbecue tacky for a wedding reception?
I am starting to plan my wedding, but I would much rather spend as little as possible considering I think it is smarter to save it in a fund for later expenses or start a college fund for future children. I plan to have a beautiful, intimate ceremony that will not cost much but will still be exactly what I want (in honesty even if I was extremely rich would still have the same ceremony I am planning). My issue is the reception. Looking at expected costs for weddings, the reception + food and booze is a MASSIVE expense. I am also not a huge fan of traditional, formal gatherings. I have been talking to the fiance who is all for anything I decide and I came up with the solution of a large barbecue at a nearby lake. You can rent an area of the beach which is really private for occasions, it has a covered grilling station, a playground for the nieces and nephews, an awesome beach and lots of room to set up tables, party tents etc. I want my ceremony to be outside at night under the stars so would probably do it the day before and the barbecue the next day. Also, it would save a lot of money as we could prepare the food trays before hand ourselves such as fruit, sandwiches, deserts and summer favourites like corn on the cob, burgers and hot dogs would probably be a lot more enjoyed by my laid back family than a more formal meal and a heck of a lot cheaper. I plan to have champagne at my ceremony which will be small and than less expensive forms of alcohol the next day, and by buying our own, buying mid-quality brands and making things like punches we would save a lot. Is this tacky though?I should add everyone who is invited to my ceremony are basically siblings, parents and grandparents and a couple friends. Also everyone invited to the ceremony lives in the same tiny, tiny town so I don't think it is that big of an inconvenience and as for sandwiches, I am not going to have them made, should have specified could have a friend set up the meat, cheese and bread trays the day before which really doesn't seem gross to me. moreVoting Question: Will I loose my food stamp benefit in washington state if I become a surrogate mother for a friend?

Anyway To you Yahoo users, what country or countries have the best cuisines/food in the world? Does this sound crazy? If it does, can you give me some ideas to perfect it? I'm planning a brunch wedding reception, but it's a little different. It's non-alcoholic, and there will be very little dancing. Here are my ideas: By extended cocktail hour, I mean like with all of the highboys and people strolling around, mingling with eachother. Except that this will be during the entire reception. It won't be too long though, only 2 1/2 to 3 hours. And it's actually a non-alcoholic wedding, so we were going to have a juice bar instead of the traditional open bar. Get up a bunch of cocktail tables and some regular 60" rounds. Only the 60" rounds will have chairs at them. Have various tables set up at the venue (it's an indoor venue, btw) with the food for the brunch buffet to encourage people to move around and mingle with others. Only have the major dances, like the first dance and the parent/child dances. All of this while having some sort of band (haven't decided yet, maybe jazz, maybe acoustic) playing in the background. Could this work? moreResolved Question: how can i find my culture´s identity?

So you can e-mail me some personal, healthy recipes that you usually eat... and show me where I can buy these items from the grocery store... I'd be grateful... Also cooking instructions too... Yesterday I was in Diyarbakir due to my job. At lunch I decided to explore the city a little bit. I must say its beautiful. And the food is great too, but there was one thing that bothered and suprized me.. I saw a typical kurt (pls no offense- I mean that is their culture and the way they dress. Nothing wrong with that) he had this totally hairy body and a mustache. Dark skinned and dark hair.Actually he looked good.He had this wide traditional pants on and looked really "manly". Behind him was an other guys similar dressed and looking like him, but they were holding hands! Then the first guys put his arm around the others' waist! and they walked away. I was shocked and just looked at them when a man came out the store and started cursing at them. He said that he is disgusted with those types lately and they were like multiplying so fast.He was actually blaming the internet for their young ppl becoming gay and showing interest in extreme relationships. What do you think, could the internet have an effect on the young kurts becoming gay?I prefer to write "kurt" with letter "t" instead of "d". moreVoting Question: Culture Week Project?

My boyfriend's birthday is this Friday. Although he goes to work that day, I want to wake up early and cook him a really good breakfast and then prepare a nice meal when he comes home later in the evening. I also want to bake him a chocolate cake, but a healthy, sugar free one that actually tastes good. I searched on the foodnetwork for a sugar free chocolate cake recipe, but could not find one. My boyfriend has high cholesterol and is trying to eat healthy meals. He and I do not drink soda, caffeinated beverages including coffee, and sugary juices. We do not consume pork and fatty foods, and we try to stay away from red meat. He often eats chicken, but once in a while will eat beef. I'm getting married in August 2011. My fiance and I both want a traditional wedding... church ceremony and dinner/dancing reception. But I'm starting to wonder whether it's even possible to have a "normal" wedding on an $8,000 budget ($6,000 from my parents and $2,000 from me -- my fiance is putting about $3,000 in but we really want a caribbean honeymoon so I assume most of his contribution will go toward that). We are currently in the earliest planning stages... I should mention that we live in a rural area, so at least we don't have to deal with big city prices. But our #1 reception location choice had to go, as it would have been $6,000 just for the location, tables/settings and food/drink (even with a cash bar). We are now looking at another location that looks like it would be about $4,000 for location/food/coffee, water, tea... they don't even have a bar, so we would have to supply our own soft drinks and see if they even allow alcohol to be brought in. Anyway, the church for our ceremony will only be $70, plus pastor and organist payment... but I haven't even bought my dress yet. I want to have the "modern traditional" ceremony with favors for guests, pretty table centerpieces, etc. -- and I'm willing to splurge on photography because that means a lot to me. I'm also willing to cut corners with fake flowers, etc. But is it even possible to have a really nice wedding with only $4,000 or less left for DJ, photographers, dress-veil-shoes-purse-undergarments, tux, limo (we need one), attendants' gifts, flowers, decorations, and all the other costs associated with a traditional wedding? By the way, this is for about 200 guests, but we've both gone through our guest lists several times and can't think of anyone we're willing to leave out. We wanted to invite even more. moreResolved Question: Is it true that Indian Govt.'s link to Pakistan is a risk to Indian Muslim community itself ?
