Resolved Question: Trying to locate a children's book (Title/Author unknown)?

Does anyone remember a children's book from the early 80s (I think) about a little boy who befriends/adopts a small green creature discovered in the jungle/rainforest/forest. These creatures hum/sing and everyone falls in love with them and wants one of their own. By the end, I believe the boy begins to turn green himself. I want to say these creatures were called 'something'-lings. They looked like green fuzzy pears. (I was quite young.) This was a very eco-friendly morale book; promoting peace for all.Much thanks in advance. more

Resolved Question: Are these deadliest warrior match ups good?

id love to see these match ups for next season because i think their perfect, not only there at the same degree but also never met in combat and are fairly far separated (for anyone who haven't heard of these warriors or strait up dont know them look em up and dont tell me they would be great match ups apart from all of you guys south african scorpions vs usa black waters= the most infamouse merceless private company killers jtf2 vs sas/sbs/srr (but mostly jtf2 vs srr because their in the same level) roman arcani (first black ops to be stealthy andblood thirsty quick kind of like the ninja)vs Khmer(ancient south east asian warriors that fought individually and conquered now what is known vietnam, thailand and combodia) intuit (snow like eskimo warrior nomads) vs Bedouin Warrior(spiritual desert warriors that are resimbled to desert nomads that would have a skirmish dual to the death) zetas (mexican ex millitary force(not as good as it used to be) cartels small in # compared to the police/military force and rival cartles but still kick their ***) vs jamican yardie posse, bratav russian mob(opposite side of the map up east gun fighters that traffic drugs) or traids (to see who conqures down west) Cossack vs Landsknecht =???(cant find anything diffrent apart from these warriors except again nationality, weapons and location) Janissaries vs Hwarangs(kind of like ming vs musketeer except janissaries dont have a plate of armor and hwarangs defended against all of asia including samurai, ming, igorot, vietnamese lạc binh warriors igorot (highly skilled warrior (like the azande) with swords martial arts that defended against invaders) vs inca (south american jungle rainforest legioniers) huli warrior vs Kamayura= (again both very alike, one in brazil while the other is in indonesia with very simmilar warriors(fighting style/weapons) and culture) Hezbollah (terrorist from rambo 3 sort of like modern day Bedouin with guns and riding on camels) vs latin american guerilla jungel terroriests either cuban revolutionist fighters of FARC(a show down of skirmish free guerilla terroriests) more

Resolved Question: help, i need a cool or catchy title!?!?

I had to write this for my english grammar class... we have to go someplace and write whatever we sense (see hear feel smell or taste) for like 10 minutes but idk what to call it!! help!! also if you have any suggestions to improve it that would help 2 :) A light rain drizzles down, our pool cage causing it to almost transform into a fine mist, gently nourishing all the plants and trees. Frogs croak and birds warble, causing me to feel like I’m beholding an enthralling tropical rainforest. Brilliant, green/yellow hues adorn most of the surrounding greenery. I hear a soft, continuous trickle, but though I offered a thorough search, I still haven’t identified the source of the placid sound. Seeing all the once thirsty but now quenched plants makes me feel fresher and newer; the humid but comfortably cool air only adds to my renewed feeling. I contentedly rock back in forth on our bench swing; my seat gives out an occasional squeak. I desperately want to douse my feet in the dazzling, aqua colored pool water, so crystal clear I could easily see to the bottom if it weren’t for the small ripples induced by the raindrops. I look down at the rugged, off-white cement ground below me. Leaves from our potted plants litter he ground, and I occasionally come across an inch-long centipede slowly making it’s way by. Suddenly a ray of light peers out from behind a cloud, and lights up an area of rain in it’s lit path. I then stand up with a sigh once I realize my time for sight-gazing is over; I have chores and other work awaiting me inside my house. I give one last look, then slide the glass door shut to my imaginary jungle. more

Resolved Question: What the hell is up with my head and dreams?

I've never been quite like my peers. My head, my way of thinking, my very subconscious.. I'm different, you could say. I don't know how to go into more detail than that. Let's just go with dreams, because I could ramble about myself until the day I die! But that wouldn't be very effective, would it? *sigh* Well, I'm about to make myself sound psycho. Padded room, here I come! I think my brain has a mind of it's own. I know that sentence is like, "Well no shit sherlock!" But in all seriousness, I am a very strong believer in dreams. I don't mean hopes and ambitions for the future, I mean go to sleep and DREAM dreams. See, I have totally messed up dreams. I even had a dream that I'm writing into a novel. Here's the spooky part; I was stuck at part in the book. I was totally and completely unsure how to continue - That night I had a dream, that linked directly to the story, and went so far as into a SECOND novel. It's like my subconscious.. Well, of course my subconscious knows what I'm thinking, it's my brain. But the way it reaches me almost makes me think of it as another part of me. ..Dear God, I really do sound insane. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I also dream in stories, like mentioned above. But I want to go into a little more detail on this one, before the after effects kinda of spooked me. So I had a dream, and VERY long story short, it was about death, reincarnation, other worlds, friendship and.. It's hard to explain. But it was so.. It was amazing, I'd never had a dream like it before. It was in movie style, even! I woke up crying. The ending was so sad I sat in my bed, curled up and sobbed for maybe 20 minutes. I don't know how my own, made-up stuff can make me weep so hard. Anyway, even though I was sobbing, I wrote the entire thing down. Almost against my will, actually. Like, I wanted to write it down, but not just then. But it's like something came over me, and my own thoughts weren't my own in a scary way, " Write it down, Write it down, write it down!" And so I did. Sketches and all. SO,I may have vivid and elaborate dreams that make sense and shake me to the core, but I have my share of nonsense dreams, too. Bread. Have you ever dreamed about bread? Bread that could, had a face, arms and legs, had a dimension to themselves? Bread that had leaders, warriors and civilians? Bread that planned to gain revenge over us, the humans, for amputating them of crusts, for being so underestimated even though they had been there for centuries and centuries? Bread that took you captive, because you spied in on their council meeting, and had heard to much? I have. And I hadn't even heard the word bread, or eaten bread that day. I have recurring dreams, so I feel they must mean something to be reappearing. I have many ,many recurring dreams. I've even named them. Sometimes what happens in the dream is the recurring part, sometimes it's the setting. Mt. Atax ( Aye - Tacks) - It's a very mountainy place. The dream usually begins between two of the mountains, which a river runs. I either go left or right, depending on the dream. Left, there is a jungle, rainforest. It's bright, but very, very thick. Twice I have been bitten by a brown snake. The same one, I believe. There is a wading pool with a waterfall somewhere to the NorthEast. To the right, it always changes. Always. Pyramid of Eske ( Ess - keh ) - It's a pyramid tomb. It is most often entered through the secret side of Mt . Atax or through the slit in the wall in Draught Lagoon. You walk in, and there's three ways to go - Forward, left or right. I have gone right many times. I've never gone forward, which leads down and gets darker with every step. and the left.. I don't know why, I've just never gone.. THe spirit that resides there is Eske. There are hyroglyphics on the wall, and a giant picture of a girl.. She is dressed in simple robes, and her eyes.. Her eyes are very cat-like, and her hair is somewhat short and choppy, with a smug look on her face. I once looked into her eyes, and everything washed out with white, and all I saw was her eyes, and she spoke to me. Her eyes looked like opals, just opals. No pupils, just opal and white. She was really nice to me. She told me to never go down the forward direction, and to keep hope, and something to do with my story.. The entire time I spoke to her, this played ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kCPNDsoo0Y Drought Lagoon - I know where this one came from! It's very similar to the Dry Lagoon level of Sonic Adventure Battle 2! Only thing is it's differently shaped, much higher, and there's absolutely no water, hence the name I've decided to give it. There are actually a few more, but whatever. My dreams have have me perplexed right into the evening, compelled to write it down, or sketch a sc more

Resolved Question: How do they get the figures for world population?

Most sources have world population at about 6.9 billion, how do they arrive at that figure and how accurate is it, with some civilized countries like Usa and Australia they can keep track of populations by things like social security numbers and bank accounts, but i think there are large parts of the world where they dont have those systems, more than half the world doesnt have access to electricity or running water so how do they count all those people who just live in bark huts and make their living hunting and fishing? What about people living in rainforests, jungles and in the mountains or in mud huts in Africa? more

Resolved Question: Forest that no one enters?

Okay, so last year in biology when we were studying like biomes and stuff like that and my teacher showed us this big map in the book that had all the rainforests and stuff and there was this small area on one of the forests that she explained to us that no one enters. It was like deep in the jungle and it had a lot of myth and lore surrounding it; the locals themselves refused to get too close to that region as they all feared it. It was something like all who have wandered into that region have all died and never returned or something like that. There was also something like according to the legend some sort of beast/dinosaur something-or-another supposedly still exists in that area. I want to know the name of it, i just can't remember. My friend says that it was the Black Forest in Germany (though that does not seem right). Ive looked it up on google but just can not find it for the life of me. If anyone knows please tell me!!!!!!!! and if it is the black forest please direct me to a link or something that talks about this myth or whatever okay?? more

Resolved Question: Does it sound like I have the flu?

I spent 2 weeks in the remote Costa Rican Jungle. I've been home for a day and I feel horrible. I NEVER get sick. About 5 days into my outward bound course I started feeling like I had a cold. It was weird though, all my symptoms hit me like a ton of brick so suddenly. I remember getting really cold and achey and tired one afternoon, so I took a nap and woke up with a horrible headache, sore throat, the chills, and a stuffy/runny nose. Those symptoms went on for about a week and a half, I started feeling better, and then a few days before coming home I began feeling worse. My throat hurt extremely bad... so bad that I couldn't swallow, my head throbbed, body ached, exhausted, constanly hot and then cold. The day before I came home I was on my feet the entrie day walking around in the heat without much water, I started feeling dizzy, cold, and I had a bad headache, and felt warm to the touch. Yesterday, when I flew home, my throat still killed, I was really tired, and feverish. My ears hurt sooo bad because I couldn't pop them, so when we changed altitude in the plane, I was literally in tears. I still haven't popped my ears completely from flying yet, and I still have a horrible headache, my limbs feel heavy and achey, im dizzy, my throat still hurts to where I cant swallow, and my temperature is around 101-102. Does it sound like the flu or maybe something I caught from the costa rican rainforest? more

Resolved Question: Monkey city in the future with translucent pink crocodile gorilla things! What does it all mean?

This might take a while because i remember it very well and i am writting it as i remember so it is a little messy: Okay so ages ago i had a dream that humans had killed earth and moved to a planet inhabited by monkey people. Like the planet of the apes. So i woke up and was in my appartment and i got up for work. Now this planet is basically a giant jungle and the humans had made this massive city. Like the one of the 5th element. It turns out that the monkey people are cannibals and the humans don't like it and there is inter-species violence. I and a few others were negotiators for the monkeys and humans and we went to there city. We were at the great hall thing and it was made out of wood, this giant staircase that the wood had grown and it ended in a massive stainglass windows. The monkey people were far more scientifically advance and had cured cancer and other stuff and i think the humans wanted the cures. So on the stairs i think there was a little fight and we fled. Then the dream kinda jumps to this human trashing the monkey peoples lab. All the chemicals start to mutate the monkey people into these monsters. They have the body of a gorilla with the tail and head of a crocodile. But the crocodile parts were pink and translucent. So these monsters were really vicious. Now the dream jumped to me hiding in the humans big city garden, and i was hiding in a big patch of agapanthus because there was a monkey guy attacking people and he just lept out of the trees. The park was on a slope and were the grass stop it was just huge dense rainforest. This is when the dream just cut off and i can't remember anymore. What does this mean, it was really weird but the dream i remember most vividly. Can anyone decipher this for me. Thanks more

Resolved Question: My mother-in-law FREAKED OUT when she saw the 'jungle bedroom' I am painting for my sons, because she says?

the snake is a bad omen (she's very religious). The mural in question is hand-painted and features two scarlet macaws, tree frogs, monkeys, trees and a snake hanging from one of the branches, just like in a rainforest- it is a LOT of work, but it's fun!) The boys WANTED the friendly-looking, smiling snake, and I thought he was adorable until my MIL made me paranoid/upset. I am not a superstitious person, but when it comes to my kids, I do get a little twitchy. Should I leave the snake, and how should I handle my MIL?They boys are 5 and 7, and think all animals are cute, even snakes and spiders! They love worms and ants and snails - maybe it's a little boy thing, though my daughter is the same way! Three years ago we stayed in a hotel that had the kids' bedroom decorated as a 'jungle room'. I promised them that I would make one for them when they moved into the same bedroom. And I am! more

Resolved Question: Is it possible to survive like Tarzan in the equatorial jungles of Africa?

I've always had this weird dream of living in trees, joining a family of gorillas. Tarzan had it good. I would always think, ah its too late for me, im ruined by people. Then i thought, ill have a baby and throw him into the jungle. Come back couple years later. See if the kid survived to be a monkey. Thing is i was watching this thing on the rainforest in africa. Bugs and animals everywhere that are capable of killing you with a nip. Just wondering bout tarzan, more

Resolved Question: Does This Make Sense? (Three Sentences)?

Well, I'm currently writing a Sci-Fi/Romance/Sort of Fantasy novel and I've written the first few sentence but I'm stuck on whether they make sense, so I haven't written any more than this. So here they are; Rain had begun to trickle across the canopy of the rainforest. I evaded trees and swooped over logs, practice helped me move freely through the jungle. Tall trees shrouded above me as I came into view of the huts my people had constructed over the years. I raced over to meet my family. “Emery,” Aditya said, smirking slightly. “Oh Emery!” My loving mother said, turning around with a frantic look on her face. “We have been so worried about you! Why do you keep running off like that?” Soon, my whole family was huddling around me. I felt a sudden urge to laugh, but stopped myself. “Mother, Father. Please, don’t worry about me. Just because I don’t-” I swallowed loudly and pressed on, “Have any abilities, does not make me incapable of wandering around.” So, does it make sense, and what do you think :)? Thanks in advance <3Oh yeah and it's a bit bigger than three sentences :PAnd if you can be bothered, I'd appreciate it if you check this out :D http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AruExUjn8oIF0NUU8V4tbZTsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090711073418AADJoOP more
