Open Question: Healthy weight gain ideas...anyone?
Hi! I'm 21, stands 5'1 and 41kg. I want to gain some weight but in healthy way. I eat rice 3 times a day, eat fried food everyday, 1 bar of chocolate a day, 2 burgers a day. That is my diet and for 3yrs I still weight 41kg. I feel like I'm putting my health in jeopardy doing these stuff but I want to gain weight even just 10kg. Hope you have any ideas how i can gain wt in healthy way. moreOpen Question: SHould i wait to get the transplant?
I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and i'm 15. i'm so sick of pain i feel whenever i eat something, that i've become afraid of food. i'm getting skinny, and i know i'll have to eat sooner or later, but everytime i do, it's like living hell. sometimes, i think it would be almost as bad as giving birth, and I'M 15!!! it's downright embarrising, not to mention painfull, in school, or any other public place. almost all foods, healthy or not, makes it hurt, so cross out restraunts. i can't really do anything!!! now, i've decided what i want to do for a living. A chef. and do you know what chefs often have to do? TASTE TEST FOOD. i don't want this anymore, i feel so bad at dinner because i cant eat my moms cooking without a couple of advils that don't work. and i heard about (small) intestine transplants, and i think it might be a way to save myself from suffering. (medications don't really have a effect on me, so i prefer not to use them.) i need to know how much it costs, where a good place to do it is, and whether or not i should wait until i'm 21. i know childrens hospitals do it, and i live in NJ. thankyou!!!!! moreOpen Question: Why do my farts now smell like exactly what I ate?
Okay, I know that the average person farts about a pint a day (14 times a day) but lately I fart so much more frequently then before. It's more like frequent small farts than my usually less frequent and big farts. Another odd detail is that now it smells like what I ate. Apples for breakfast? Apple smell. Sushi for lunch? Sushi smell. Steak with A1 sauce for dinner? A1 sauce smell. Is this normal? Is it healthy? Could it possibly be because I have changed my diet? I no longer eat, fatty foods, oily foods, dairy (I just recently found out I'm mildly lactose intolerant), or drink soda. I've been eating like this for 2 weeks now and just the day before yesterday I noticed theses changes (besides weight loss). Also what about farts that don't smell at all?!?! I've never had those before and now I do!Oh, I forgot to mention that my farts smelled NASTY before and I hated accidentally smelling them and I've always avoided it at all costs because of my gag reflex. Not to mention holding it in to not kill people silently in public! moreOpen Question: Is this gonna ruin the diet?
For example.. if i didn't eat my diet breakfast and ate instead a piece of chocolate ,but in the same calorie limit would that ruin my diet??????? or.. if my diet should be 1000 calories per day.. and i am supposed to eat healthy food .. can i eat other foods but they won't exceed that 1000 calorie??????????????i mean will i LOSE WEIGHT????? moreOpen Question: Are animals who eat food from nature healthy or unhealthy?
Basically the title says it all... moreOpen Question: I've quit drinking alcohol, so why have I gained weight?
Aaaagh, I'm really hacked off because I really battled to stop my drinking habits for the sake of my health but after a month of abstination, I've discovered that I've actually gained 5lb. HOW??? I haven't replaced booze with food - apart from that I have a fruit smoothy every day containing an apple, orrange, lemon and carrots. I was drinking about 12 cans of lager and a bottle of wine per week so would really have thought a smoothy a day was lower calorie that that little lot. It's so depressing when you try and do what every one says you're supposed to do for a healthy life and you end up even worse off. I gained lots of weight when i quit smoking & now with this gain from not drinking...well, I just feel like I was better off smokin, drinking and being an ok weight. It feels like I can't have any of the pleasures in life anymore (especially with not being able to eat nice food either now). P.S I also completely changed my diet about 2 months ago -ie no cakes, chip, crisps and eating over 5 a day..so what the hells bells is going on????? moreOpen Question: does anyone know of any healthy cookbooks? budget friendly if possible.?
I am 18 and trying to lose weight. Does anyone know of any low calorie cookbooks or cookbooks that are great in helping to lose weight, watch calorie intake until or just plain healthy with calorie info included ? I need something that is fast and easy and includes meals such as breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks/desserts. Obviously low in calories and still taste great. Any advice will do. Plus I am a college student on a budget. I want to cook more at home meals instead of buying junk food. moreOpen Question: Does anyone know of any healthy cookbooks? budget friendly if possible.?

I've missed two periods so far. I guess I've been asking the wrong questions all along, because all anyone keeps telling me is to take a test. I doubt I'm pregnant but I'm not entirely ruling out the possibility, I just have no symptoms of it other then, cramps during the time I should have started my period, which could be implantation cramps, but what if its more serious? yes i've gained some weight, but i haven't been eating super healthy lately. My breast are most def. bigger, but couldn't that be from gaining weight? I have been feeling sick on and off, but again, it could be all the fast food. please don't tell me to go to the doctor and get a blood test, I lost my job last Dec, and in doing so I lost my health care as well. I paid $700 for an ear infection last month, I can't afford another medical bill. I'm looking for someone who has had something similar happen... Idk if I'm making up excuses because I don't want to be or what, but I need to know if there's a possibilty it could be something else before I go to the doctor and pay out of pockets for the wrong kind of testing. moreOpen Question: Hypothyroid, what can i do..?

Today I needed to buy some more pellet food for my bunny, and they ran out of the brand that he normally eats, being desperate I bought a food that was similar to the one he eats now. But, I guess I didn't read the label well enough and fed him his normal portion earlier today. I have been watching him today with the new food and he seems to love it. But, I just noticed on the bag it stated for adult rabbits 12 months and above. He is a house rabbit, doesn't go outside, and is a pet only. He is the only rabbit and not being bred. Otherwise he is happy and healthy with no problems. He just went to the vet 2 weeks ago for his first check up. I kind of don't want to have to go out an buy a new bag of food as it can add up very quickly. He is also a very picky bunny and finding this food and he actually eating it was kind of a miracle. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much for your help in advance. moreOpen Question: Why won't she purr? Long question but I need some serious advice please!?
. I've always had a way with cats, and even the most timid take to me very well. I got a kitten a few weeks ago from a lady on Craigslist. I'll be honest, I don't know much about her because all I did was email the lady, told her I was interested, she responded with her address and I went and picked her up. She didn't answer any of my questions and didn't even invite me in the house when I went to pick her up (I understand why most people wouldn't do this, but she left me standing outside on her porch while she went to get her and we were in the middle of a terrible blizzard). She did however tell me that she was 6 weeks old at the time I picked her up and that she was born on the 4th of January, making her 9 weeks old a few days ago. She also told me that she was the smallest out of a litter of 6 and she had only been weaned for a few days before I picked her up. We named her Magick. Since we've had Magick, I've wormed her, started her on a soft Kitten Chow diet with an occasional bit of kitten formula and litter trained her. I have also made her an appointment with my vet, but it was made for April 5th because my vet has a waiting list and I didn't want to pay the extra $110 to get her in sooner since she appears fairly healthy to me. Well, I've noticed a few things in the last few weeks. The thing that concerns me the most is that she won't purr! I've been told that it is a learned skill, and that they learn it from their mother during the nursing process as a way of communication, but I figured that if this were the case, she still would have purred the first week I had her when I dropper fed her 30 ml of substitute cat's milk every other meal, and she did not. Why is this? Another thing I've noticed is that when she goes potty (poop or pee) she meows and grunts for a minute before hand. I've checked and rechecked her feces (wearing gloves of course) for any signs of worms or parasites, but I've found nothing since worming her. Last but not least, her behavior around food. Every time we eat, she totally freaks out meowing and climbing up on the table or doing whatever it is she needs to do to get to our food, and when she does get to it, she will hiss and spit and growl at us if we try to take her away from it. She has literally attacked both my son and my cousin over this before and while she is the most loving cat any other time, eating in this house is a nightmare. I've tried putting her in another room while we eat, but she just screams the entire time she's in there. I've also tried feeding her and giving her a few treats in her bowl at the same time that we eat. She still wants nothing to do with it unless she is unsuccessful with getting our food. She has a very healthy appetite. She eats 3 times a day and each time, she nearly empties her bowl. The kitten chow we get her comes in a 5 lb bag, and she goes through it in about a week and a half, all on her own. I'm sure it's not uncommon for kittens to act like this, particularly the runt of the litter, but is there anything I can do to stop this behavoir?? If need be, I will pay the $110 fee to get her in as a sick visit to have these problems acknowledged. But in the mean time, if I can find a solution until then, that would be great. Thanks for looking and any positive and serious input is appreciated! moreOpen Question: Simply, easy to make healthy recipes?
I am a 21 year old college student who sadly only eats fast food because of my busy life. I've gotten ridiculously out of shape and am now as heavy as I've ever been. I'm trying to slow my life down and get back on track. Can any one offer up some quick, easy to make healthy recipes. Things like snacks and salads for quick meals as well as healthy breakfast and dinner options. Thanks! moreOpen Question: What can a busy college student do to get fit and healthy?
I am a 21 year old working college student. Needless to say my life is busy and I rarely get the time to sit down and eat dinner, exercise, etc. I'm trying to slow my life down. I want to get in shape because this is the heaviest I've ever been. I don't want to just be skinny. I want to be healthy and fit. Obviously I know I need to cut fast food out of my life. It's convenient but it's killing me. My biggest issue is money. It seems like being truly healthy these days requires lots of times and lots of money, both of which I don't have. What can I do to become a healthier person without spending an arm and a leg. Specifics would be great but I need to start slowly because I'm ridiculously out of shape. moreOpen Question: What kind of foods can I eat while on a diet that are natural?
Ok I'm starting this diet to lose weight. The reason I gained it in the first place is because I just buy some fast food because its easy, quick, and taste good. I'm used to natural food because thats what my mother used to cook with. I just don't know how to shop for them or what I should cook after I get them. PLZ if you have any ideas at all I'd love your help. Even if you don't know what to cook, a good list of vegetables and fruits would really help. I just can never think of any when I go to the grocery store. PLZ, don't tell me how to lose weight or how to work out because thats NOT what I'm asking you for. I'm asking you to simply tell me a list of healthy foods to buy when I go grocery shopping. I have a hard time choosing foods, and a list of what to eat would be very helpful. I repeat: DON'T TELL ME HOW TO WORK OUT!!!!! I KNOW HOW TO DO THAT!!!!! JUST GIVE ME A LIST OF FOODS!!! Thanks in advance, Always wit luv, Jess moreOpen Question: meomix getting old, and supposivly not good for my cat, new cat food help?

Hello! And thank you in advance. I'm doing a project for school on Greek cultures and practices, and how that effects their health and how doctors/nurses care for them. What I'm asking is: are there any certain practices or rituals that pertain directly to your health, or how you care for the sick? What is generally the accepted practice for an aging family member? Who takes care of them, or are they sent to a nursing home? What about your diet and rituals: are there any particular foods that are either fatty/sugary or very healthy that you feel effects your health and body? Are there any "beliefs" that would get in the way of health care (like Jehovah's Witnesses refusing blood)? Please note that my project is for the Greek culture, and that's it! I wish I could do one on cultures as a whole, but that would be way too big! Thanks so much in advance for any help you can offer!Im also assuming that abortion/contraception is considered forbidden, but can anyone tell me for certain? moreOpen Question: stinky diet... i need help!!!?

If your health depends on the food you eat, and the healthiness of food depends on the nutrients it gives you, can taking a multivitamin with the same nutrients eliminate the need to eat some nutrient-rich food (or are these in fact the same nutrients? .."nutrients" because I don't know what else to call them)? If so, why doesn't everyone take a multivitamin? I always hear how something is so healthy because it's full of protein or full of beta-carotene or full of whatever.. but I can find these things on the label of a multivitamin or at least as a supplement. What are the benefits of actually eating the nutrient-rich food rather than taking a vitamin? If you do eat the food, should you still take a multivitamin? What kind of people should take multivitamins? If you answer all these questions, I will love you forever. moreOpen Question: Why is my acne so bad?

So, this is what I'm gonna do. For 5 or 6 days, I will diet by eating 1,100 calories a day with no junk food, and lots of water. For 1 or 2 days of the week, I will go on a strict diet where I will eat fruit, a few nuts, and hot water with a tspn of tea and a tspn of lemon. For lunch, a half sandwich with fruit and vegetables. For a snack, eat a granola bar and for dinner eat something in small portions and make sure it's healthy. Throughout the week, drink unsweetened green tea and lots of water. How does it sound? Will I lose 50 lbs by the end of summer? I tested my plan out a week, lost 3 lbs, 5 days into the next week I only lost half pound so I'm having 3 strict diet days. Hi. I know what most of you are going to say. Go ask you doctor, and think about the consequences. I know this...however, I am having so much trouble controlling my eating habits. I have Type 1 diabetes, and I have the hardest time eating healthy. I am currently overweight by about 25 pounds and definitely need to lose some weight. I seem to eat healthy and control my portions during the day, but when I get home at night I just pig out, not necessarily with unhealthy foods, but just a lot, which in turn shoots my blood sugar up. Afterwards, I feel horrible and am so angry at myself. I know that I am killing myself slowly, but I just can not stop eating so much. I really need some suggestions, and anything would help. Thank you for your time moreOpen Question: how can i gain weight and eat healthy?
what foods can i eat to gain weight but still be healthy moreOpen Question: Abdominal Pain/Bloating/Smelly Gas/Ovarian Cyst pain, etc? GRAPHIC and LONG!?
First things first: I have an IUD for birth control, mostly because I started having problems with hormones in birth controls, I got it in early Fall 2009. In Jan. (it wasn't diagnosed as such) I was having INTENSE pain in my vaginal walls (best way to put it) and anus, as well as lower abdomen. The pain continued on and off and got intense enough to nearly paralyze me because of it. I'm guessing I had an ovarian cyst rupture. Not had that intense of pain since, just occasional discomfort. I should have started my period on the 4th or 5th. I have not, but had PMS like symptoms. I have been under a lot of stress emotionally, mentally etc...and I figured that is why I've not started yet. However, I got the huge food cravings I normally do and last week on Thurs and Fri I gorged on JUNK JUNK JUNK! This resulted in an upset stomach, gas, bowel movements, etc. I felt a bit better by Sunday. And then it started again. I've reduced the junk intake, tried healthier foods, occasional junk, but stuck to small meals and not over filling myself. I ALWAYS feel icky after EVERYTHING I eat. I've upped my liquid intake and still nothing. The symptoms? Constant full feeling, intense bloating, gas that has been ESPECIALLY smelly, occasional bowel movements, but not really feeling the urge to go, stomach cramps (from gas and bloat I assume)...ON TOP of the above mentioned ovarian cyst pains. No signs of spotting as if I'm starting my period, not discharge, nothing except the occasional cramping and small boob/nipple pain (which I don't NORMALLY get, but have), which is so slight from the other pain. The bloating is intensely noticeable, the pain is on and off, now mostly on and I don't know the problem. Because no matter the food, I feel like this. If I don't eat, I usually still feel like this. This isn't my normal reaction. And within the past day or two, HOT FLASHES and dizziness/nausea like what I was having when i had hormone problems with past birth control.... I assume some of these are PMS symptoms and some are....??? I wanna fill in that blank. Think you can help? Let me know if you need more details I'll keep checking back. Thank you!! moreOpen Question: Stomach growling in class. sounds like farts?

From April 22nd to the 27th, I am going on a trip to Cincinnati, Ohio for an Academic Games national tournament. Not all 5 days, will the tournament take place, we have some free time. So I figured, since it's national, the hotel me and the Florida team are staying at will have some pretty cool girls. And there might be a time, when we go down to a pool. This is where my problem takes place. Honestly I am not fat. I appear skinny when I stand up. But when i sit down, the actual "fat" begins to show with 3 belly rolls. And I don't just want this for the trip, I want to become extremely more healthy. (BTW I am 112 lbs at a height of 5'4" and 13 years old). My eating habits suck, and I usually end up eating a lot of beef throughout the week. I am not very active. I get out and actually play once or twice a week. NO THERAPY SUGGESTIONS! moreOpen Question: Foods / supplements that lighten hair colour?
I've been dieting pretty effectively the last week or so (nothing extreme, don't worry, just healthy food and exercise) as well as doing other things for improving my body. I was wondering if there are any foods or natural supplements such as oils, nuts or fruit that can lighten your hair? My current hair colour is hard to describe, it's like super dark brown, almost black. I'm hoping to find something that can lighten it a little to make it easier when I eventually decide to use products to change the colour.Note: As far as I know, I'm only allergic to peaches. Just in case it helps. moreOpen Question: What should I do about my dog, eating fastfood.?
I serve my dog, hard food like Beneful and soft food like Alpo and buy him snacks like Puperoni The problem is, he hardly eats his food and always barks and cries at us when we're eating fastfood cause he wants some. I know it's not healthy for him but I feel bad and give him some anyway.. I'm starting to get worried.. anyone have any ideas on what we can do.. **he usually eats the Alpo and leaves the hard food (Beneful) there. ** He is a miniature poodle ** he is 4 years oldthank you for all your replies :D moreOpen Question: How can I keep my eyes healthy?
What foods can I take to avoid increasing my number on my glasses? Also, if I eat healthy foods is there a possibility of me going back to being a non-glasses guy? Will the foods stop the number to increase? Thank you. moreOpen Question: How can I become healthier and influence my family as well?
I want to become healthier. I really like reading and learning more about the human body, nutrition, and diseases. (Stuff like that.) I really want to become healthier though! I know that I have to eat healthy, exercise, and all that stuff. But, can you give me a better explanation? Also, is it okay to weigh 120 pounds when you are 5"4? The last time I checked my weight I was only 100 pounds .. I really got shocked that I was 120. Is this weight okay? Another thing, my family is very unhealthy. Especially my older brother, he is 260+ pounds, the weight couldn't even measure his weight anymore, it almost went to 0. But he's kinda tall about 6" and if you looked at him you wouldn't say he was really obese. He doesn't exercise, and when he gets home, just sits, and eats a lot of junk food! He's 21 years old. How can I influence my family to eat healthier and have a healthy lifestyle? I'm scared they might get diabetes, a stoke, heart attack, or something like that. Help? :( moreOpen Question: My cat has a big annoying problem?
My cat is a healthy 10 year old, I love her so much, but since i had my daughter a year and a half ago my cat has been pooing anywhere she wants to. The poo is not runny, its completely normal, and sometimes she does use her litter(which i keep clean all the time.) I think she is doing it because shes mad at me. How do i get her to stop, its making me very frustrated with her, and its straining out relationship. She also has become very demanding with her food now. I always keep dry food in her bowl, and i feed her wet cat food twice a day. The last few months she has been refusing the dry cat food,(no matter the brand) and wants me to give her small amounts of wet cat food 7 times a day. I feel like im waiting on her hand and foot now. I have 2 children, and i dont want to become my cats servant. Is this normal? Is it because she is getting old, and requires more pampering? moreOpen Question: Please, correct my writing in English (table manner)?
I am a student learning English. I wrote off-hand. Could you check if there are some strange expressions? (I made a question and I am confused when saying "table manner" a table manner, the table manner or table manners?) Q: Could you tell me the table manner of your country? A: There are few things special. It is kind of Universal. Like western culture, it is also considered as an improper behavior to rest your chin on your hand at the table. Plus, we usually share side-dishes, so to root food around with individual chopsticks is out of manner. Generally, kids who eat only what they wants tend to do it in order to sort out what they don't want like carrots or onions. Parents don't allow it, and then they can naturally learn table manners and develop healthy eating habits. One more thing is that old generations don't like people nibbling food. They prefer those who eat with relish. I think this is also Universal. moreOpen Question: Help Healthy Food!!!?

I asked this question a little bit ago, but I felt like I needed a second opinion. Okay, first of all, I'm an eighteen year old male (still in high school; graduating this year), and I've got a variety of conditions, including OCD, ADD, anxiety, and I suspect mild depression. I'm on Adderall for the ADD, and Lexapro for the OCD, anxiety, and depression. I'm also on Abilify, which I switched to two weeks ago from Risperdal because the latter had side effects, namely a loss of libido. Because of this, I never felt the need to masturbate, and prior to about a week ago I'd never ejaculated. I've experimented enough over the past few days to discover what arouses me most: putting a clean sock over my penis, sticking it inside the sleeve of a pillow case, and humping it at varying speeds. I know I'm doing the right thing because it feels really, REALLY satisfying, and I don't want it to stop. But when it gets to the point where I can't hold it in anymore and I cum, it feels good. But there's no orgasm accompanied with it: No muscle spasms, no uncontrollable noises...Just ejaculation. I know this is usually the opposite of what most people experience (orgasm with no ejaculation), and it's causing me a great deal of distress. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'll tell you a few things about me to see if you might be able to explain my problem. 1) I don't think it's that I'm stressed when I'm doing it; I'm fairly good at forming sexual fantasies (some really sick and twisted ones at that, but they turn me on). 2) I considered that I may not even be ejaculating, but I don't know what else it would be. It's not precum; I know what that looks like because I've seen it when I've failed at masturbating on the tip of my penis - just a drop though. It's not urine because it doesn't leave a yellow stain on my pillow case and doesn't smell like ammonia. I'm almost positive it's semen, but there's a slight possibility it's not. I always cum in my pillow case, so I've never seen if it's white when spurting on something that doesn't absorb liquid. 3) I'm not on a healthy diet. I'm not overweight, but this is only because my lack of appetite (medication side effect I believe) compensates for my love of sugary and fatty foods. 4) I'm very small for my age; I'm 5'6" and 128lbs. I've spoken with an endochrinologist about this though, and he says I have "idiopathic short stature," which is nothing serious but means that I just won't be very tall. Growth hormones won't help either; the doctor also said my growth hormone level was fine. 5) As of the past week (following my medication transition and my masturbation breakthrough), I've been very horny. Not average horny (and I know for men this means very horny anyway), but extremely horny. I can't escape the thought of sex from my mind; it's driving me insane. I've got to carry my books in front of me at school to hide an erection that I get from looking at EVERY girl at school and thinking about having sex with them. These thoughts are driving me insane, and I just want to masturbate all the time, even though I can't orgasm. 6) I was among the last - nay, probably THE last - in my age group to go through puberty. I don't even think I'm all the way through it yet (even at age 18); mainly because I can't even grow facial hair yet. Thank you for reading the entire question; I know it was too long and detailed for most.I don't mean to be rude, but I know it's not an orgasm. Orgasms come with a sense of euphoria, of ecstasy, and are accompanied by muscle spasms. None of these things happened to me, I can assure you. The only actual pleasurable feelings come from my penis, nowhere else. So again, I'm positive this isn't an orgasm. moreOpen Question: Its like my mom doesn't want me to eat healthier?
Ok, so I'm 14, I've recently gone vegan, and I've just been eating healthier and general, and I'm taking supplements. I eat fruits every day, try to eat veggies, lots of complex carbs (rice, quinoa, oatmeal), nuts, and lentils- and its like, I'll have, say, a salad, pineapple, and a protein bar for lunch and she'll be, it seems like she's mad at me. We buy instant oatmeal with all that sugar and stuff in it, and I filter some out, and she acts like I'm murdering a child. I'm just trying to get in good shape, as I run track and cross-country and I want to get my mile down to 5 minutes this year. And since I'm running 6 days a week, I eat a ton- I'll have 3 slices of toast with peanut butter, and apples, for breakfast, thats the kind of way I eat. And since I'm not eating like Pop-Tarts and hot chocolate for breakfast like I used to (as I used to be a total food junkie), its like she disapproves. I'm just really confused by the way she's acting- help me out? She's not that fat. She's had 6 kids, she's not going to be really in shape, but you don't look at her at go "unhealthy", and she's not ugly or anything, she's actually quite pretty, and I'm not just saying that because I feel compelled to as her daughter. I was thinking she might be mad about the whole me going vegan thing? moreOpen Question: I Need Help With My Diet?
