It's mine and my girlfriend's one-month anniversary in two days and I'm a very good cook. So, to do something special, I am going to cook a three part dinner for us including a salad, the entree, and the desert. The only thing is, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO MAKE!!! I can do literally anything, I just don't know what to make for the entree or desert. Ideas please? Also consider that she is allergic to peanut butter and shrimp. Thank you. more

i know,i know,culture is nowhere near as important as to Islam... I'm a palestinian-american 13 year old...and I’m not as Palestinian as an actual Palestinian, and I’m not that American...i don't listen to the modern popular music or watch the popular TV shows, or have many American friends (or even friends in general)....so I’m not Palestinian, nor am i American, what am i? An in-between??? I go to my relatives in Palestine and Jordan, and they HATE MY GUTS! My aunts just hug me and kiss me until i pass out, and talk to me in Arabic as though i were three! (And i know a fair amount of Arabic, compared to the other arab-americans I’ve met...i don’t know as much as an actual Arab, but enough to have a good conversation. Although i am having trouble understanding the Quran and Arabic TV), and i have MILLIONS of cousins, most of them older than me by a few years...but there are a few the same age, and they LOATHE ME! I spend the night at their house a lot when we go to Jordan (my mom forces me to), and we have nothing whatsoever in common! We just sit around and watch TV or bake something. But one time, they told me to help them make dinner, and told me to make the salad (by the way, cooking is apparently a vital thing to being a self-respected woman and the only way you'll get married in Palestine...weird) my mom never really taught me how to cook,so i did my best.When i was done,i showed them the salad,they seriously burst into laughter and said "you call that a salad???you can have that,ill make us some REAL salad!" My aunt came in,and i was close to tears,and she calmed me down and said something that made me even madder,"don't be too hard on her,she's american,and her mom hasn't taught her how to cook yet" (i was only 11 at the time,and now,im 13,and still don't know how to cook...and we're going to JOrdan again next summer....oh dear,ill NEVER get married....Oh well,like i care about marriage anyway!) another thing,i have a lot of older cousins that are in highschool and college and i help them with their english homework.For example,my cousin had to write a simple 3 paragraph essay about eating habits (in the 11TH grade),i helped her with nice,big vocabulary words and excellent grammar,just being a little 6th grader...and you know what?she has the highest grade point average in english,thanks to ME! Same with my college-aged cousins,and i get dragged around as a show-and-tell thing to make them look popular they all HATE me...how do i know?i overheard my gossip-skilled cousins backstabbing me...""why is she here?" "she reads arabic really slowly!" "when is she leaving?" "when we're hijabis,she probably going to be a skank!" My mom and dad thought i was lying to them when i told them they said that... also,my mom HATES my dad's side of the family because they are falahee (thats basically a redneck palestinian),and there are many family arguments goiong on throughout our visit... I also plan on becoming a politician and defend palestine... WHY IS IT THAT I AM NICE TO MY CULTURE,BUT IT'S PEOPLE,MY OWN PEOPLE,AREN'T NICE TO ME!???? i know,i must have patience...i know,this place isn't supposed to be my diary,i know,it's long and annoying...but i have no other muslim or even arab friends...my own relatives despise and gossip about me! lately,i haven't been considering myself as an arab ,and woulfd anger my mom by saying anoying things like "why is it that you arabs are obsessed with old black and white films?" and she would say "so you aren't arab?" Hi there, wondering if anyone can help me with some low GI diet ideas or recommend a good book on it? I have bought one but it's a bit rigid, it has a 12 week plan which doesn't really fit with my life... Also are there any basic rules which I should look out for? I get the impression you need to be more careful with your carbs, so change the bread and pasta you eat to wholemeal or something? is there a way a low gi diet can be simplified?.. I work quite long hours and don't have time to cook breakfast in the morning and can't cook lunch while I'm at work so I find it difficult to stick to diet plans that say you should eat cooked breakfasts and lunches etc. more

I was planning on making Beer Battered Fish with a side of Broiled Eggplant and for dessert Irish Chocolate Mint Dessert. Any tips for making this or any tips in general? Beer Battered Fish: INGREDIENTS -1 cup all-purpose flour -1 teaspoon salt -1 teaspoon baking powder -1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed -3/4 cup beer -1/2 cup milk -2 eggs -2 pounds cod fillets -2 quarts vegetable oil for frying DIRECTIONS 1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and dill. Add beer, milk, and eggs; mix well. 2. Place fish fillets in batter mixture, coat well, and let stand for 15 minutes. 3. Heat deep fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Place fish in hot oil, and fry until golden brown. Cook fish in batches to maintain oil temperature. Serve. Broiled Eggplant: Ingredients oil (olive oil, vegetable oil, sesame oil, or hot sesame oil) eggplants (1 Japanese eggplant serves 2 , 1 medium eggplant serves 4) salt and ground black pepper Directions Using a pastry brush, coat a baking sheet with oil. If you're using a large eggplant, cut it into 1/2-inch-thick rounds. If you're using Japanese or small eggplants, cut them lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick slices. Arrange the slices in a single layer on the baking sheet. Brush the tops of the slices with oil. Broil a few inches from the heat for 7 to 12 minutes, until the slices are golden brown. Turn the baking sheet once if your broiler heat is uneven. If the interior is still too firm when the outside is browned, bake the eggplant at 400° for a few minutes until soft. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Irish Chocolate Mint Dessert: Ingredients 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) plus 6 tablespoons butter or margarine, divided 2 cups granulated sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 4 eggs 3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 2 2/3 cups powdered sugar 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon water 1 teaspoon mint extract 4 drops green food color 1 cup HERSHEY'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Directions 1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan. 2.Place 1 cup (2 sticks) butter in large microwave-safe bowl; cover. Microwave at HIGH (100%) 2 minutes or until melted. Stir in granulated sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; beat well. Add cocoa, flour and baking powder; beat until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan. 3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. 4. Prepare mint cream center by combining powdered sugar, 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, water, mint extract and food color. Beat until smooth. Spread evenly on brownie. Cover; refrigerate until cold. 5. Prepare chocolate glaze by placing remaining 6 tablespoons butter and chocolate chips in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at HIGH (100%) 1 minute or until mixture is smooth when stirred. Clean up first!!! This is a long one!!!!! My Taurus ex told me everything, he admitted that he ran away from me because he didn't want to pressure me into a committment after ( me) going through a divorce and becoming single again. We had a beautiful relationship and still do, only its platonic now. We remained friends through me going off and dating other guys to him living with someone. A chick from his past. He admitted to me that he made a huge mistake, he says he's told her its not working out and he wants out. He says she threatened to break his things. He's disguisted with so many things about her like, not cooking, not cleaning, always arguing with him, and he pays all the bills, has a great job and is a really good man. We both agreed that timing was bad for us then, but it gave us a chance to go back out into the world to explore, well, I never found another like him, and always hoped that he would come back to me, he was out trying to find somebody better and got a smack in the face! I'm not sitting and waiting for him but, my hopes are high and he says there is no way he, wants to waste anymore time with this girl, so he's gonna wait til the lease is up so that she can't break his things. I respect the way he's handling this situation because he's not abusing me, nor is he disrespecting her. We are not having sex until they are not living together. We both agreed to that. We may meet up a couple times, but, I'm thinking about telling him to just wait, until the lease ends. I have his respect, his loyalty and his promises for now........ How can I make this situation as comfortable as possible yet, nudge him to maybe come clean with this woman and tell her that he's clearly in love with another woman( me). He's stated how he feels bad for being with her knowing he's thinking about me and in love with me. He bought me engagement ring when we were dating but, it was too soon for me and we never ended on bad terms, never argued. He says I taught him so many things and I am the one he wants to be with. He was put under pressure to move her in because she lost her job and all, he says that she's not ambitious like I am. This man described so many things that he loves about me, that I had no idea he even recognized. I believe this man and I know it takes a real man to be honest. He held onto me for 2years after our breakup, I am not desperate, I am very confident, beautiful, intelligent, and just know what I want. I just gotta be patient. Has any other woman dealt with this type of situation, or simular, and how did it work out? Sounds like a lame question but I never done this before. I have always used stove top, I let water boil then put noodles in letting it cook for a couple more minutes. How would i use microwave? She hates her body and has little self confidence, yet when it comes to losing weight she says she can't because her parents aren't good cooks or that she gets really hungry after she plays hockey or she hates running. I try to help her and I know she wants to but she doesn't put in much effort. It's the same with school work, she's terrified of failing and not getting into uni but when it comes down to it she makes up excuses like her attention span is too short, or dinner gets in the way of a work routine. It only annoys me because she's my friend and I want her to be happy. I know that no one is perfect and we're all guilty of making excuses for ourselves but it's getting terrible! The worst is that she has no idea she does it, I want to help her and make her realize that she can only achieve what she puts effort into. The only thing is that she gets upset and angry easily. What should I do?! more

I feel like im at a complete hault, i've tried eating healthy, which is super hard when your a picky eater and i goto my in-laws all the time which cooks with tons of butter and everything is so fatty but soo good, and i'm exercising and i just cant seem to kick the belly fat, i had a baby 9months ago, and i know it'll take time, but honestly its my darn love handles that are so big, my actual waist part isnt that big, its just the area where my jeans would sit...please help and tell me what i can do! more

I love shell pastas and always get them. In the instructions it says 8 minutes to boil but in reality it takes 15-20 minutes for it look cooked. Is it the common problem or am I doing it wrong? more

Open Question: How can I get my husband to gain weight?

He is 6'4 and weights 185 for the past 20yrs. He only eats one meal a day. He says he 's not hungry or "just can't eat right now" I think he is starting to look bad and he doesn't look healthy.I think he is actually loosing weight, I can see his ribs and bones in his legs , He has 0 body fat . He doesn't like sweets or breads, he doesn't drink milk or milk shakes. He eats mostly just the meats when I cook a meal. Once in a while he will eat the veggies. I am really getting worried about him what can I do ?? more
