Resolved Question: Any bands similar to Scar Symmetry?
I absolutely love the band Scar Symmetry. I've known about them for only a few months now, but they are pretty much my favorite band now, possibly even moreso than Soilwork (which is saying something, because Soilwork is s1ck).
Unfortunately, I have no idea how long it will be before they put out another album, since their last was 2008 and they've had lineup changes. I've listened to their three CDs dozens of times in a row, so I'm wondering if there are any bands that are very similar to Scar Symmetry (the closer, the better).
Thanks!Curse Y!answers for not having a metal category. Those bastards.Stabbing the drama: nice.
Well you definitely knows what's up! Soilwork is my other favorite band. It's really hard for me to decide which one I like better. The worst Soilwork or SS song is like the best song from any other album. They both have pretty much every possible thing I could want from a band. So I guess if you had any Soilwork-type bands too, I'd go for those.
Yeah, dumb that Christian left the band. I don't know exactly what to expect, but the guitarists are absolute musical geniuses, so I'm pretty confident their next thing will be good.
I have listened to Disarmonia Mundi and they're pretty good, although it's pretty hard to beat Soilwork. I didn't even know Christian had a new band yet. Do they have music out already?
moreResolved Question: What do you think about Scar Symmetry recruiting two vocalists?
Here's a quote:
On October 6, 2008 the band announced they will continue with two vocalist instead of one with the following statement " When things went from bad to worse and we realized that it wasn't going to work out with Christian [Älvestam, former SCAR SYMMETRY vocalist], we were faced with two options; either calling it quits, or seizing the opportunity to take the next logical step in the evolution of our sound. We chose the latter.
"We've used both growls and clean vocals in our music since day one, and with each album we've pushed the envelope of what you can do vocally in a metal band to the point where a lot of the songs on 'Holographic Universe' [SCAR SYMMETRY's latest album] would be hard if not impossible to sing live. So the question is: Is it really possible to push the vocals even further and manage to perform everything live?
"The answer is YES! Instead of hiring a new singer, we decided — some of you might already have figured it out by now — to recruit TWO singers! The idea of having two vocalists in the band is something that's been in the back of our minds for a long time, and after auditioning and rehearsing with two of Sweden's best vocalists we're thrilled, excited, stoked-beyond-belief!!!
I think it's a great idea. I want to hear these guys though.
Roberth Karlsson - Lead Growls and Backing Clean vocals
Lars Palmqvist - Lead Clean Vocals and Backing Growls
Those are the new recruits.nice vid Stabbing.
I think they sounded pretty good. Now if they were sober...
Haha kidding but they seem like two guys that would be fun live.
