moreOpen Question: Name your favorite abortionist?
In honor of abortion provider appreciation week, I'd like everyone to name their favorite abortionist. If you can't think of any, I've provided some real hall-of-famers:
Rapin Osathanondh of Massachusetts - medical license was revoked after the death of a teenage girl from a botched abortion. Being investigated for manslaughter and fabricated medical records.
Kermit Gosnell of Pennsylvania - his clinic was raided by authorities after the death of a patient from a drug overdose administered during an abortion. Authorities described the clinic as containing "deplorable and unsanitary" conditions.
Alberto Hodari of Michigan - A lawsuit has been filed against him by a prominent attorney. Included in the suit are six counts against Hodari, including lack of informed consent/medical malpractice, battery, fraud, misrepresentation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress for a forced abortion done on a young woman. He has now closed his clinic and it is believed he is preparing to return back to India to evade legal implications.
Laurence Reich of California - a twice-convicted sex offender who was found guilty for sexually assaulting two women during an abortion. He surrendered his license in 2006.
Brian Finkle of Arizona - convicted of sexually assaulting 22 women during abortion procedures and is serving a 35 year prison sentence.
Burtha Bugarin of California - a woman without a medical license of any kind who was personally responsible for performing thousands of abortions and operating as many as 2 abortion clinics over a period of ten years. She is now in prison.
James Pendergraft of Florida - medical license has been suspended for the second time for malpractice and illegally prescribing controlled substances.
Malachy Dehenre of Alabama - license has been revoked for gross medical malpractice. He is also currently in prison for murdering his wife.
Ifeanyi Charles Anthony Okpalobi of Louisiana - his clinic was closed for operating without a licensed nurse on staff and without having a controlled substance license.
Andrew Rutland of California - has recently been ordered by a California medical board to stop performing abortions after killing a woman by prescribing an incorrect dosage of anethesia.
Richard Leigh of North Dakota - license revoked for defrauding Medicare and Medicaid.
Paul Mayer of New York - license was revoked for an illegal late term abortion performed at 29 weeks in utero (approximately 5 weeks beyond fetal viability) in violation of New York law.
Harvey Brookman of Pennsylvania - license was revoked in New York, surrendered in New Jersey, and suspended in Pennsylvania for practicing without malpractice insurance, giving expired drugs to patients, allowing unlicensed staff to administer drugs, failing to check his patients’ age and identity, and performing abortions without a licensed registered nurse present.
Akiva Abraham of New York - license was suspended for having an improper sexual relationship with a patient, and for enducing a woman into labor early in order to avoid an interruption with his vacation schedule. An appeals court denied to reinstate his license.
Howard Pfupajena of California - arrested for committing assault and battery.
Belkis Gonzalez of Florida - her abortion clinic was closed after a botched abortion resulted in the live birth of a newborn baby that was placed in a plastic bag and later found dead on the clinic roof. Charges have been filed by the District Attorney.
Joel Novendstern of New York - license has been suspended for perforating a woman's uterus and failing to call for an ambulance. The woman had to undergo an emergency hysterectomy, and thus, can no longer have children.
Name your favorite!

moreOpen Question: Ovarian cancer or just endometriosis?
I had laporoscopy surgery on Mon due to abdominal pain and a ruptured ovarian cyst in January. She had found a cyst on my rt ovary, (had left one removed) also she found endometriosis on my ovary. Could she tell with out a biopsy if they were cancer cells or not? I go for a post op visit in a week. Just wondering if I should still be worried about ovarian cancer or not. She told me I should get a hysterectomy since the endo will come back. Any advice. I am 37 with 2 children Thank you
moreOpen Question: Prometrium and Mirena for Endometriosis?
Hey all,
I'm really sorry if this is TMI before I get started! But I've gotten some great answers on here before, and I'm not due to go to my gyno until next week, so I thought I'd ask and give it a shot between now and then.
I was diagnosed with Endometriosis around September of last year. I had a pelvic laparoscopy, and they found endo and cleaned it out and did a D&C as well. Prior to this, I'd bled for 3 months straight, with pain and cramping. After the first surgery, I was put on Seasonique. Needless to say, a month later, I started having the same issues again.
I was then taken off all BC for 5 days to essentially clean my body out... and I was in agony and having such severe bleeding, cramping, and other awful symptoms that they ultimately rushed me into surgery again for another pelvic laparoscopy/D&C due to the severity of my symptoms. My gyno did find more endo (not a lot, but some), and she cleaned it out. Then she inserted a Mirena coil.
I knew I'd have some abnormal bleeding with the Mirena coil, but at this point, over the past 6 months, I've bled for 5 of them. My last surgery was a month ago, and I'm STILL bleeding. Not a lot, but spotting (mostly only at night), and just enough to be annoying. For the past 2 weeks, I've been on Prometrium to stop the bleeding (just finished it last night), and noticed little (if any) difference other than it making my digestion a little wacky.
Is this standard for treating Endo? I know everyone's different, but this just felt kind of weird. I'm only 24, and my gyno told Lupron shots are the next step if all this doesn't work, but I REALLY don't want to go down that road. I do want to have kids some day, but I'm not married or anywhere close to that point in my life yet (or else I'd just have a hysterectomy).
Anyone out there know anything about Mirena and Prometrium being used to treat Endo? I don't have cramping too often, but I still have issues with constant exhaustion and this whole spotting every single day thing. Like I said, I'm seeing my doc next week, but just wanted to hear if anyone had any advice in the meantime.
moreOpen Question: About hysterectomy and depression!!?
Long story short, my sister in law had a partial hysterectomy a few months ago after having abnormal bleeding and whatnot after the birth of my neice 2 years ago. All of a sudden the marriage that my brother and her had until that point has completely changed. She is very moody, and is now saying that she is unhappy and wanting to leave the marriage. Everyone is in shock because until the hysterectomy their marriage was pretty much perfect and now it's gone downhill. I tried to tell my brother that having a hysterectomy really changes a woman and she needs to talk to her doctor about her symptoms because her change of heart and emotions could be due to hormonal imbalances. She still has one ovary, but is supposed to be taking hormones and doesn't because the doctor told her she would have to stop smoking if she did. My question is, could her actions be caused from the hysterectomy? Is depression really that common afterward and what can we do to help her or convince her that she needs to talk to a doctor about this. Please help, my brothers family, as well as our family unit as a whole is falling apart!!
moreOpen Question: Is it wise to be a 20 year old single mom?
I am 19 years old and just found out that I am pregnant. I would be 20 when the baby was born. After recently battling cervical cancer, I only have enough of my cervix left to support a baby. I have HPV and harbor a very aggressive cervical cancer strain, so it is possible that the cancer could return and if any more of my cervix were removed I would no longer be able to carry a baby. Also, I have a rare hereditary uterine disease. Every woman on my dads' side of the family has had a hysterectomy in her early 20's due to this impairing disease. I have ALWAYS wanted to experienced motherhood, preferably of my own biological child. My family & I have been living in fear that I would not be able to. Also, I have always been against personally having an abortion. My 24 year olf bf [he will be 25 when baby arrives], however, is begging me to get an abortion. ANy advice?
moreOpen Question: Can I get a hysterectomy just because I do not want children?
I've heard that I can only get the surgery done if I have a medical problem or if I've already had at least one kid. I haven't had any children, and I'm perfectly fine. Could I still get a hysterectomy? If not, then what's the best birth control there is, besides not having sex?Oops, my mistake. I thought getting the tubes tied was just a basic hysterectomy.Well, I got the answers I wanted. Thank you everybody. You all helped :)

moreOpen Question: Can pelvic floor exercises help with a vaginal prolapse and continence control?
My mum's hysterectomy was bungled, she now has little control on when she pees and has constant neuropathic pain, I keep saying "why not try exercising your pelvic floor" and every time the same excuses come up
a) "I've had a hysterectomy, it wont work."
b) "I have a sytaceal" (OK I have NO idea on the spelling of that one, I think it means a prolapse through the front wall of her vagina) "the muscle has given up already, it wont work."
c) "I have neuropathic pain" (the poor lady is in a fair bit of discomfort) "it might make it worse".
d) "I'm too old for them to have any effect"
All I want to know is are any of these excuses valid?
moreOpen Question: Would a hysterectomy cure a yeast infection?
I have had a yeast infection for just over 3 years now. It started when I was pregnant with my second child. I have gone to many doctors and have taken all kinds of medication, but the 'yeast infection' still won't go away. I am only calling it a 'yeast infection' cause that's what my doctor says it is.
I am not having any of the classic signs of a yeast infection. There is no itching, burning when I pee, and the discharge isn't 'cottage cheese' like.
The only signs that I am having is a smell when my husband and I have sex, and the discharge is like a yellow, and is very thick. When my husband and I have sex the next day his penis is call raw and chapped up. All of my pap test have come back normal with some yeast.
I am tired of dealing with this and was wondering if anyone out there has gone through this and might know what it is, or how to cure it. And if I had a hysterectomy (we are not planning on having anymore children) would it cure the infection? Also when I am on my period I am very heavy and I pass large clots. The doctor tells me that its normal to pass clots cause I have had two kids.
moreResolved Question: Would breast implants hurt worse than a breast reduction?
I am having a breast reduction on the 15th of March and I am freaking out a little.. lol I am a 42G and will have 4-5lbs removed. I am so ready for this, but I am scared about the pain right after..so I am trying to mentally prepare myself for it.. so I want to know if a breast implant would hurt worse than a reduction... (I obviously do not want implants just trying to process what I can expect for pain)..lol
I am excited and ready.. I know that I can expect discomfort for the first week.. I just want to figure out if I can handle the pain.. I have had a hysterectomy and I did fine with that.. so we will see. lol
This is major for me.. so I am slightly freaking out. lol

moreResolved Question: If there is a small area of residual cancer left after rad/chemo, is trachelectomy safe?
I know the real purpose of the trachelectomy is to preserve fertility and my uterus is already fried from the radiation so I doubt this is done often if at all. Anyways, I am just preparing myself for the worst. 2 mos. ago my PET scan revealed a "hot spot" very tiny area on the lower portion of the cervix itself. The doc told me it was most likely nothing, or could be inflammation or infection as well. So today I had the next PET scan which will now show if the "hot spot" is still there. If it is, I will go in for a biopsy of the area, then chances are hysterectomy would be the common choice to remove the spot. I was offered the radical trachelectomy before they found out it was stage 2 (minor amount of spread to parametrium area, then PET caught lymph nodes too) anyways my doc said cure with trachelectomy seems to be very similar to that with hysterectomy.
Now that my chemo/radiation has taken care of the majority of the cancer and the uterus was never cancer anyways, do you know if just a trachelectomy (removal of cervix only) would be possible rather than hysterectomy?
The thing is, I am in no physical pain. I have GI problems from it all and they are manageable, just annoying. I feel pretty darn good considering all I went thru just 3 1/2 mos. ago. I would rather keep my surgery to a minimum since I don't see how removing my uterus in the process would help at all. It's also a mental issue for me, I would be fine with waking up to a trachelectomy but removing the uterus is like the identity of a woman to me. I would be very mentally disturbed by this. (I've already talked to counselors about it, I don't think theres anything anyone can say to change my mind on that one)...
So is there any reason trachelectomy would not be a good choice for a tiny amount of residual cancer which is contained in the lower portion of the cervix?Well chance of baby is out of the question anyways because my uterus is fried, it is totally useless. But at the same time it is not painful at all so why remove it right? I know I ask difficult questions, I challenge my docs a lot and I am just about to the point you mention Spreedog...I think I am personally going to get my hands into the records, reports and files. I think I have enough info to get a pretty good understanding of a lot of it. People get irritated with me for "thinking outside of the box" but too bad, thats just how I am...so far it's helped me and surprised those around me that I was right, and worst case scenario I put myself thru a little extra testing, etc. to verify the unknown. Thanks for that advice, I am going to get more hands on. Next appt. is next Friday and I am going to demand hard core facts and documents/test results. I'm done letting others dictate my treatment without letting me see things for myself and giving me no choices in the matter. Thanks! Also you mention the HPV vaccine...thank god I have always been high risk HPV negative and tested for that yearly (I didn't even know that it had been done but all previous pap show HPV status negative)...and also no active HPV infection showing up in my body...because I would have to hunt down my cheater ex if thats what caused this...so it's probably a good thing I am a rarity in that category. It's the first thing that came to mind when I found out about the CC in the beginning...I was furious, but doc quickly put that fear to rest.
moreResolved Question: Best way to go about finding a new cancer doctor?
I am pretty much FED UP with my current hospital. Yes they have appeared to have saved my life from cancer. I love my oncologist, he is excellent. But there are many major mess ups which have happened at the hospital which are unrelated to my oncologist himself and I feel as if I need to change hospitals before something ends up taking my life.
So far heres my bitch list...
*Reproductive endocrinologist couldn't locate my lt. ovary until the day before egg retrieval, therefore not realizing how overly developed the follicles in the ovary were, also did not give me Cetrotide to stop eggs from releasing so they did just that. Out of about 20 follicles, many were overly mature before they were found (my ovary was extremely high and only viewed transabdominally, which is unusual but it took them 1 month to figure that out!) a bunch of eggs had released and I got 4/20 to cryopreserve. I had to begin cancer treatment immediately so no more time for another IVF cycle.
*Didn't notice parametrial invovement on my MRI which was clearly visible, they just missed that slide...this meant I had stage 2 not 1 as originally thought, dramatically changing treatment from hysterectomy to rad/chemo...
*During radiation, they couldn't get my "pelvic tilt" exact and one group of the radiation team actually gave me treatment which was not exactly according to plan...I was told this may or may not affect my outcome...however looks like it thankfully worked out.
*I complained of severe kidney/urinary pain during radiation and they didn't ever check to see what the problem was and blamed it on the radition, before the real problem was caught, I ended up with a serious Strep B infection and kidney counts became poor.
*Today I had a PET scan and they forgot to give me the 2nd cup of barium to drink so now it may or may not have affected the results of my test, we will see I guess. By the time they found out I didn't have it, it was too late and I had to be scanned.
Doesn't it seem like this is an unusually high amount of mistakes for a hospital to make within a time span of 7 months? I really trust and admire my oncologist but I am not so confident in many of the others working there. I am thinking of switching hospitals..I am pretty much done with treatment, theres a slight chance that I will be having surgery for residual cancer if this PET scan is accurate and shows anymore activity...actually I would first have biopsies to make sure its cancer then surgery...
But if you were me, would you go elsewhere? This is supposedly one of the best cancer hospitals in MI. I am not so sure of that.
What do you think is the smartest thing to do at this point?Thanks...I will have a meeting with them for sure before I make any drastic changes in hospitals or anything...maybe I am noticing it all since I am there so much, it's just so many crucial things gone wrong, I am a little weary of them now. Gonna try that though thanks.
moreOpen Question: Could I sue For Medical Malpractice?
My Mom is in the hospital for the second time in a week due to mal nutrition from her SECOND gastric bypass surgery. Its not that it didn’t work the first time. She had a hysterectomy shortly afterword and gained all her weight back. The surgeon re-did the surgery but instead of just re-doing the pouch like he told us he was going to, she shorten the absorption part of her ingestions. Now she is not aware of anything and her kidneys are shutting down. All of her Primary care physicians have told me she is dyeing. I don’t know what to do. Everyone says that it was the surgery that made her sick, but her surgeon is refusing to do the reversal (which is possible in extreme conditions). Do I have a case for Mal Practice? What if my mom dies, what can I do????? I don’t even know how to find someone who can help her, if there is any way to help her.
moreResolved Question: Did I have cancer???
I'm asking this because I never know how to describe it to people. I had cervical adenocarcinoma in situ, which is cancer cells, but they aren't invasive (and may never become invasive...no one is sure how many become invasive.) Still, the recommended treatment is hysterectomy.
I am so confused about how to describe it. My doctor never said, "You have cancer." In fact, she said contrary things like, "You are having surgery to prevent cancer." But I'm pretty sure that other people with "in situ" cancer are told they "have cancer." Like woman with ductal carcinoma in situ. It just seems to be a little bit different with cervical cancer, which on some levels is a relief and on some levels pisses me off.
So please give your opinion! Just taking a survery. But I didn't have CIS, I had AIS. The recommended treatment for CIS is a LEEP. The recommended treatment for AIS is hysterectomy. It's a big difference is you ask me.
moreOpen Question: Surgery for endometriosis and/or ovarian cysts?
Went to my gyn yest. We've been following a complex ovarian cyst (chocolate). It has doubled in size in two months and is now 5 cm, though it doesn't hurt. (I had a simple one rupture two months ago and the pain nearly killed me! That's when he found this one.) I now have a smaller cyst on the other ovary, as well. I had a hysterectomy a year ago, if that matters.
Somewhere (I'm really confused right now) endometriosis fell into the mix. So now he wants to do a lap and take both of my ovaries and the existing endo. Says the hormones from the ovaries feed the endo and if we remove the food source, then the endo won't come back. His focus seems to be more on the endo rather than the cysts, but he says no hurry (six months).
After taking my ovaries, he wants to put me on hormone replacement therapy (HRT). (I'm only 40.) That makes NO sense to me because isn't the idea of getting rid of the ovaries to eliminate the hormones that feed the endo? I'm also afraid of HRT because of all the horror stories, but maybe today's technology has changed all of that. Doc says most of that is hype from the "bio-identical" developers or whatever you call them.
I've been with this doc for nine years and he has never pushed surgery or anything else. Even w/ the hysterectomy, he mentioned it as an option for years (due to pain), but always just said "when you're ready".
Again, I am in no pain at this time and haven't been since the rupture. However, if I actually need to do this, then I need to do it asap because of insurance. Otherwise I wouldn't even think about it unless/until I started hurting.
I think that covers it, but let me know if you need more info and I'll edit. Thanks.
Anyone have any experience and/or advice? Is there a physician on board?? :-)

I have scans from 8/2009 and from last week, and wanted to know if anyone has a known website where I can see photos of where the ovarian cysts are located...how to see them and read them. I am waiting for the doctor to call with the results.... and I just want to see the differences and can't tell which part of the screen is the ovaries vs. the colon, etc. I had a hysterectomy so, that is just an empty vessel on the CT scan. but, wondered if you know where I can see them pointed out on a scan photo somewhere, or suggestions.

moreResolved Question: Why isn't hysterectomy part of the treatment for stage IIB-IV cervical cancer?
Is there a particular reason that this is not the "standard of care" for stage IIB and beyond cervical cancer patients?
Once radiation and chemo successfully remove the cancer (or as according to a PET/MRI), why would they not remove the actual original cancer site (cervix) after the lymph nodes and other tissues are no longer cancerous?
Are there dangers to having a hysterectomy if you underwent max dose pelvic radiation, but have since completely healed and almost 4 months have passed?zrepmd, actually very clear, thanks. So basically why put someone thru major surgery when radiation is already necessary for the other sites that can't be surgically removed...plus it is likely as good as surgery anyways as far as a cure goes..and surgery first would be a waste of pain for those who won't survive.
I get it. Thank you :) And I feel a little better.

moreOpen Question: Why am I feeling this way?
My sister just had a hysterectomy today "the same procedure I had done a year ago" She called me last night and was asking me questions as to what to do to prepare herself for the weeks to come. I told her my experience with everything and gave what help I could. Well today I called my dad to ask him a question about something and asked him how my sister was doing and checking to see if she had come out of surgery. He then told me that my mom was going up there after she got off work to sit and wait for her to come out of surgery and wake up. I instantly got mad and started crying. I live 9 hours away from my parents she lives 2 hours away so yes I understand it's a lot closer, but never once did I get a phone call from them or a visit while I was at the hospital not even after I woke up. I went home the next day and still no call or visit. I feel jealous over the fact that my sister has our mom there for her for the same surgery I had a year ago. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I can't help it. I haven't seen my parents in a year and a half. I want these feelings to go away. I want to call my sister and not be angry with the fact she has the one thing I didn't have the support of my parents there by her side. What's wrong with me?I am younger then my sister by 3 years. I was 24 when I underwent my hysterectomy she is 28 going on 29..

Are women with ductal carcinoma in situ told they are having surgery to "prevent" cancer? What about other in situ cancers like prostate or colon cancer?
I just feel like it's weird for a doctor to recommend removal of an organ for something that's "not cancer."Why didn't I have hysterectomy? Because I'm 26 and want children.Denise: I know how it works, but I don't know how to describe it to people. Do I say I had cancer? Almost cancer? Do women who've had ductal carcinoma in situ say they've had cancer? I feel weird saying I've have cancer because no doctor has actually ever said that to me. (In fact, they've said contrary things like "This could become cancer.") I don't want to get into an in depth conversation with everyone.

moreResolved Question: My docs missed a vital piece of info on my MRI, so what should I do about it?
This is in the past now, but I almost had a hysterectomy because my docs missed a MRI section which showed a sliver of parametrial involvement for my cervical cancer. This brought me to stage 2 instead of stage 1B like I was originally told. (MRI also didn't show lymph nodes but it was explained that they were not enlarged and did not appear suspicious on the MRI). Well after fighting the diagnosis without further info to back it up, I demanded a PET scan which revealed some more activity, including many lymph nodes which were not enlarged but still were cancerous. Also another suspicious area of parametrial involvment. I ended up having to go under the knife for a cold knife cone biopsy and needle biopsies, I was told would be no big deal but after lots of stitches and days of major cramping pains I had my diagnosis, stage 2B adenosquamous carcinoma.
I would like to know how I should handle this. Now that my mind is a little clearer and less emotionally distressed, I feel like I should be making sure that this is addressed appropriately. The team who read my MRI could have increased my chance of DEATH by mis-staging me, and this would mean that I would've had unnecessary painful and serious surgery on top of delaying my rad and chemo treatments which I actually needed.
I would never try to sue those who ultimately saved my life but I think the mistake needs to be addressed so someone else in the future doesn't have to ride the emotional rollercoaster that I did. Also they may find themselves in a legal batlle over something like this in the future it seems, right? I know they're only people and people make mistakes but I want them to look at my MRI like its their daughters they're looking at, scrutinizing every detail. If it was the chief of onc's daughter I highly doubt this would've been missed!
Opinions? My doc is the chief of gyn onc...do you think the team who read the MRI was already repremanded or at least talked to about the mistake? My doctor specifically told me that he was very sorry (after the PET scan and biopsies which I asked for) because after finding parametrial involvement, he asked them to go back and look at the MRI, and sure enough, there was a SLIVER of parametrial involvement. It was there the whole time but they didn't notice it until he asked them to go back to the MRI and look! Big mistake! I would've never needed those biopsies had he known that since the MRI because he would've known right then and there it was stage 2!2 hospitals (2 of the top ones in my area) have told me that the treatment for cervical cancer Stage 2B is radiation with concurrent Cisplatin chemotherapy...not hysterectomy. Hysterectomy increases mortality. And healing from extreme surgery after max dose radiation I have been advised is risky but necessary if cancer is still there.
moreResolved Question: Using an ice pack on rectum? and another question?
I use ice/ rubbing alcohol mixed together in a zip lock bag wrapped in a thin cloth, and apply it on top of my rectum everyday 3x's a day because it helps relieve my itchy problem. However I am now curious if that is dangerous or not? Also if you could answer me if it is ok for me to squirt aloe vera up my rectum because it seems to relieve some pain, and swelling after my hysterectomy. With these details you should now know that this is not for any sexual pleasure since i know that some of you guys like to think like that. Also I don't want anyone saying anything about Acai Berry, or some Natural remedy website crap that i get every time I ask a question. I don't need to lose weight and I don't need to know about your natural remedies all I need to know is the answer to my questions straight up.
Thanks!!the first 2 people Acai and natural remedies you guys suck and i will never try your products. Scam anyway.
moreResolved Question: If I have residual cervical cancer, can't it be removed without hysterectomy?
I've had the max dose of radiation so that's not an option anymore, I've been told. I think I could have more chemo but I don't know how that would work since I can't have radiation anymore. If I have a *very* small spot of residual cancer on the lower portion of the cervix itself, can't it just be removed without a big surgery? I would even be more receptive to the idea of a radical trachelectomy (removal of cervix only) if necessary, even though the purpose is to spare fertility and my uterus is already fried from the radition. It's mental, I know. But it's a big deal to me.
So even though I've been told this is not the "standard of care" for residual cervical cancer, are there any other "reasonable" or possible options?
Hopefully my next scan will come back with no more residual cancer, but I will be finding out after my scan on Tuesday. I just want to know my options in advance in case something shows up. I like to prepare myself for the worst. And also I am asking you to think "outside the box" because that's how I work...I challenge my docs and it very well may have saved my life. I demanded a PET scan before any further treatment, as well as biopsies to confirm the exact locations of my cancer before major surgery. Come to find out I had stage 2B, not 1B...an MRI was misread, there was 1 sliver of parametrial involvement and they missed it when reading it! (very mad at them for it but what can I do now...)...also it was in my lymph nodes so the proper treatment is radiation and chemo. Surgery before rad n chem increases mortality! Please work with me here even if you're biased towards hysterectomy. I need straight answers, possibilities, and opinions. Thank you <3Also I'm not saying that I've made up my mind to go with another option if its out there, I just want to know what options do exist. So far I haven't heard of any. I like to be fully informed of all options, highly recommended or controversial...and then make the best decision for me.
Also the eyesontheprize website says that the sections are not available when I go to them :/ I was excited because it looks good.
And I have found a few other forums which I don't think have as many active users because it takes weeks to get just one response half the time! But thanks for trying Panda. I will try the other site again later maybe its a fluke.

I am scheduled for a hysterectomy march 10th. I came down with a mild cold on the 4th. I did have a fever off and on for 2 days, but now i am just tired and congested in my head and chest. My doctor was out on Friday( was going to call and ask ) so Im curious if anyone knows will they have to cancel my surgery because of this or will it be fine? moreVoting Question: Options for women who want to stop their periods?
I would like top stop my periods for good. I grew up knowing that I was a gay woman and at 6 I understood that 2 women could not have a baby together, which I accept and is alright with me (I know as an adult there are many ways to start a family). Also when I was 13 I read that a way to stop the menses was anorexia and there started a decade long battle of Anorexia and eating disorders. Since my Ed's stems from a desire to cease my menses and it truly causes me discomfort, I and some of my loved ones think it would be beneficial to stop it some how. I'm asking if other women have had this experience, what they did and what options I have. A hysterectomy sounds very dangerous and complex and at 18 (I'm now 22) my Dr refused it as an option. What long term options are there. I have no desire to have my own birth children (and it's patronising to say I may change my mind when I haven't for a decade).
Thanks for taking the time to read all thatBen, if I wanted a sex change that's what I would have asked for. Since your world view of women is so limited, let me explain. A woman is more than her womb and ovaries, hence why a woman who can't produce children, is still a woman.

moreResolved Question: What rights do you have to tissue removed during an operation?
What is done with tissue removed during an operation. I've heard that in Canada people have no rights, and that they even have students perform exams on them without permission while unconscious. I had a full hysterectomy awhile back. I live in the USA, and i'm horrified by the thought that my eggs might have been kept and used. (ie thousands of my eggs used to create embryos (my children) and then destroy them (murder them)). Noone talked to me before hand about what would happen to the tissue, I assumed it would all be destroyed.I'm not saying created JUST to be destroyed, I've heard alot about stemcell research in which they allow embryos to develope a few weeks then essentially "kill" them for the stem cell tissue.

moreVoting Question: Partial hysterectomy for HPV?
Would an ob/gyn be willing to do a partial hysterectomy on a 28 year old with HPV and two separate occurrences of dysplasia in 2 years? I do not have children and am absolutely certain I never will. As a matter of fact, my husband and I are so certain we don't want children that he had a vasectomy, so "you might change your mind in the future" does not apply here.
I know it sounds radical, but the logical side of me keeps wondering why I would carry around this ticking time bomb (HPV+cervix/uterus) and deal with this pre-cancerous song and dance every two years if I don't even want children? I do understand that one can still get vaginal cancer and that early menopause is a very likely side effect of hysterectomy.
moreVoting Question: Can you HELP me?!! No doctors know what problem I have.?
During an episode I have involuntary muscle stiffness where it appears I'm paralyzed from my jaw down to my toes. This happens 2-3 times per day for 3-5 minutes per episode. The episodes are painful but the pain goes away after 10 minutes. We've found no correlation to eating, sleeping, standing, or sitting. It happens at any moment with only a 2-5 minute full body-tingling warning. Strangely, I'm fully awake throughout the episode and speech is prohibited only because my jaw locks. EEG, brain MRI & CT scans were normal. All blood levels are normal except Estrogen 131, FSH 139.9 & LH 66.6. I'm postmenopausal (2008- hysterectomy), breast cancer survivor (2007-double mastectomy) & have Fibromyalgia (2008 - post 2nd of 4 chemos .. no radiation). It's not Tetany or Epilepsy - I don't have spasms, I get rigid/stiff. Any suggestions?3 day EEG revealed no stroke or epilepsy type seizures only "movement" occured.
moreVoting Question: Would you consider a spayed or nuetered pet an "it"?
I've always believed that when people called animals "it", it's like saying they're objects wrather than living things. I always hated it when my mom called our pets "it". She always told me that because they were spayed and nuetered, they are no longer male or female, and are now "its". I've always argured that, by her logic, she was an "it", because she got a hysterectomy. By my logic, "it" refers to an object and not an animal. What do you think? Even though a spayed or neutered animal can no longer reproduce, they still have what makes them male and female (I don't think I need to say it).Genatalia refers to the penis and vagina, which are not removed from a spayed or nuetered animal.

moreResolved Question: Wife wants sex more often then I do.?
This is kind of related to my other question but not entirely. Married 22 years wife wants sex more often then I do. She was ok with only 1 time a month tell about 5 months ago when she went on some hormones. Had a hysterectomy about 2 years ago (uterus, Cervix and 1 ovary removed) since then her mood had been all over the place at times and finally her doctor put on some hormones. Now she is like some horny teenager and wants sex everyday. Many times I go to bed before she does or will work even later so can come home after she is asleep so can get to sleep. This morning I got up while she was still getting ready for work and she was complaining that had not had sex in 2 and half weeks which is fine with me but like said she wants it everyday if not couple times a day. Not I my libido and if read my other question feeling are just not into having sex that often. She has dressed sexy come to bed nude and have faked sleeping or said have to get up earlier for work the next day problem with that is then have to get up and leave early for work and basically be at work for free early. Have had a few arguments over this a few have lead to me sleeping in spare bedroom some night(s) just so can get sleep.

moreResolved Question: strange situation, this lady needs answers!?
Please do not judge. its a long story and people will ask what the hell was she thinking?! My very good friend jane was happily married to John for 19 years. she is 45, he is 50.One night friend/co worker "ann" called her, her husband had thrown her out, she had no where to go, etc, and 2 small children. Jane said I will be right there, gathered up the friend and kids and took them home with her. Huge house, no problem.time went on and the friend settled in, didnt appear to be going anyplace. One night the 2 females sat down and had a long talk. Jane was desperate for a baby. she had ovarian cancer very young and total hysterectomy. Loves children and was glad to have Ann's around. then they talked to John. Jane wanted Ann to conceive a child for her with John. Everyone agreeable.promises were made and the plan was put into motion. deal was..when ann was pregnant..sex stopped. Ann was pregnant within month. and of course the sex didnt stop and in fact they fell in love. so Jane would come to work and her husband and his girlfriend would be together. She tried to leave numerous times but she was promised that the baby was hers. This is a long, tragic story that has evolved into disaster. Jane moved out after birth of baby that she wanted, filed for divorce, and he in turn is trying to block her from getting anything saying that the relationship was a mututal agreement. her lawyer called her today and she is devastated, she is broke, heartbroken. this is strange, and yes they should have used a turkey baster and a lawyer . but its too late, jane is a very kind, loving, generous person who would never hurt anyone (yes i can see the irony in "generous") but she is a very good friend that has cried on my shoulder. she has given up her home, her husband, and is living with a relative. she has been open and honest with her lawyer. The big question is can she and will she get what she is entitled to? I keep telling her not to worry but i am a nurse not a lawyer. He got a prominent "killer' type attorney and she can't afford that. we live in Pa if it helps.Jane moved out not because she wanted to. she wanted to stay but the husband and his mistress were horrible, wouldn't let her touch baby, screamed at her. friend of mistress told jane that they wanted to "keep jane around" to be a nanny, clean house, plus of course go to her full time job. when John shook Jane and shoved her for trying to feed baby, she left. should haves and could haves are too late. she does have a lawyer, but he isn't doing much. I just want to help her and give her hope and whatever answers i can.thank you marcia. thats what I say..she is nothing but a white trash whore, 3rd marriage she broke up, and only 26 yrs old.
