Resolved Question: Should a make a second modeling portofolio after cosmetic surgery?
It is a laser cosmetic repair to my dark circles and teeth whitening. Do you think I should go for a second portofolio after and pretty much forget the old one? moreResolved Question: Why do I have varicose veins?
I am 25 years old, I'm skinny and I never been pregnant. I am active and keep a healthy diet. I work out an hour a day plus I take my dog on 3-4 walks a day. I don't keep my legs crossed and I wear compressed socks. I started getting varicose veins when I was 14. I've always been skinny and so is my family. Varicose veins do not run in my family. My family is pretty healthy. Both sets of grandparents are still alive and disease free. My veins have never hurt but I started getting bad purple, rope like veins that are extremely obvious and unattractive. The older I get, the more I get. I have talked to a vein specialist and I've been told my varicose veins are not threatening and they are not affecting my health at all. I do not feel any pain but I did get a laser treatment for my veins when I was 23. They told me my insurance was going to cover it in full, so I got it done. However, it was just a cosmetic procedure and they told me my legs will look a lot better, because I have these veins all over my legs and they look hideous. People comment on them all the time, and I don't wear shorts or skirts in the summer. I got the surgery and was told my legs will look stunning after a couple weeks. But the surgery did not work and I am getting more and more veins popping up. My legs are almost covered in these veins and they are getting worse. Not only did the surgery not work, but my insurance didn't cover it but I was told they would cover it in full. I later got billed for $4,000. I have since gone back to the doctor and my legs now look like a 90 year old woman's legs. All the doctor could say is that I have no health risks and they don't wanna do the surgery again since it never worked the first time. I was told that is rare for it to not work and the doctor told me I'm a rare case. I look online for laser vein surgery and it apparently works for everyone. I don't know what to do now. I understand I'm not in a health risk but I don't want my legs to look this way anymore. I can't even wear a dress, even with nylons. Everyone can see blue and purple veins through nylons. If people ever see my legs, they are so fascinated by how veiny I am. People comment how it looks sick and it must be painful for me, but it's not. If I wanna scare a little kid, I just show my legs. How can I get normal looking legs and why am I going through this since none of the causes of varicose veins are affecting me at all? moreResolved Question: What taxes are involved in laser resurfacing cosmetic surgery?
I just recently had laser resurfacing on a few acne scars. The doctor informed me each procedure would cost $300. After the procedure my total amount was $350. I know taxes are included but i'm trying to understand why the taxes would cost so much. I did not pay for any additional products except getting an ice pack. Are there other factors involved with cosmetic surgery pricing? Just wondering if someone could explained it to me cause i feel i was lied to. moreResolved Question: What cosmetic procedure can i have done, to make my face appear thinner?
Does laser surgery help with this? Any other types of surgery? Any help would be appreciated. moreResolved Question: Laser acne scar removal cost and other questions.?
So I'm fifteen and I've been suffering back acne for about two years now. The acne is gone but I have a bigger problem, it left a WHOLE back full of scarring. Now I know a lot of people will think, "You're fifteen, you shouldn't worry about it since you won't see half of the kids in high school once you're older and blah blah blah." But here's the thing, I have a lot of hypertrophic scarring from my acne. My questions are: (prefer if it's an American answering) What age can I become leligable? Average cost? Will the insurance pay for some of it since it's basically a cosmetic surgery instead of medical. Since my whole back has scarring and I can estimate about a hundred hypertrophic scars are there, how many sessions would it take to eliminate or at least reduce those scars until it's barely visible? moreResolved Question: Cosmetic Surgery on Stretch Marks?
Well, i'm planning on getting laser skin resurfacing on mine, but i was wondering if there was someone who could share their experience if they've had it done on their stretch marks? thanks mucho.thank you so much and if i didn't make this clear earllier, the reason i want to get cosmetic surgery is to simply reduce teh appearence or fade them away, not get rid of them. at the moment i'm using Vitamin E cream. moreVoting Question: I'm a teenage boy with stretch marks, and I'm not even fat?

Three weeks ago I had a chalazion removal surgery from my right eyelid. Unfortunately, the doctor did an external cut, leaving a very visible scar. It looks red and very unhealthy. If it doesn't go away, what kind of cosmetic treatment should I go for in order to diminish the scar? Laser? Creams? I am planing to visit a dermatologist but I thought it was a good idea to ask the forum. Thank you very much. moreResolved Question: Does anybody know of any Health Insurance that covers 'cosmetic' procedures on on scars from self-mutilation?
I am looking into getting some laser surgery done on my scars on my arm. I know that it can be really pricey so are there any Health Insurance ccompanies that would cover it? moreResolved Question: Can you join the military having had cosmetic surgery?
I have a girlfriend who had breast implants and wants to join the military, it's not a preexisting condition, not medical, just something she wanted. This also goes for other cosmetic procedures, liposuction, tummy tuck, bow-lift etc. If it's cosmetic, not a preexisting medical condition, you can have tattoos, why not plastic surgery? Does anyone know if you should not disclose the information about plastic surgery to guarantee getting in (i.e. my friend doesn't tell them about her surgeries and hopes her boobs don't pop) or if you should bring it in the open and let your examining doctor know? I know plenty of people who have serious mental and physical issues, go off their medications "hide" their conditions, lie to the recruiter and doctor and then pretend that they all of a sudden developed a psychological or physical disorder for which they are treated by the branch they joined, how does this work with cosmetic surgery, should I tell my friend to sweep it under the rug and as I said hope she doesn't have a pop, I mean in theory, she could have them done during a long enough leave, she's not a child needing permission from the government to have her breasts done or liposuction etc. I have had laser hair removal, as well as laser tattoo and scar removal, what about that? What if I want a Brazilian Butt lift (I too am joining, a different branch, she's going Navy.) Do I have to tell them I had a butt lift prior to joining, I mean if I survive with no issues there are no preexisting conditions, right? Thanks moreVoting Question: Question about cosmetic surgery on skin ... PLEASE HELP!!!?
OK, over the past couple years I have lost 80 or so pounds. Only two problems are that first off, I have some excess skin. Not only does it not look good but it is uncomfortable to me. I have seen laser treatments but the ones I have seen are only temporary. Does anyone know of permanent treatments? How much they cost? etc... FYI, I am willing to go "under the knife." Secondly, when I gained the weight to begin with, I gained a lot of weight (I was suffering from depression and took meds that led to weight gain) which led to unsightly stretch marks. Any suggestions on treatment for stretch marks? Creams don't really work, I have had them for a while so they are already faded but they still bother me. Again, I am willing to go "under the knife" or do lasers, I don't care. And again, any idea of cost or anything you feel I should know? PLEASE HELP!!! This has killed my confidence and my dating life and I am so self conscious about this and afraid a woman won't understand or find me attractive so if you can PLEASE HELP!!! And if you can't help, please star the question so it may bring attention to someone who may be able to help. Thank you so much in advance!!! moreVoting Question: which countries has the best cosmetic surgery to permanently whiten your skin?
i have light brown skin and i usually put this white powder on my face and i look so good with it on. White/Caucasian and White/Hispanic women think i look very attractive with it on but the powder is just powder, its not a permanent solution. I went to several plastic surgeons in NY but they just tell me to use chemical peels but its a temporary solution.. yes it slows down the melanin production but its not very effective. Is there a country out there that can do miracles with cosmetic surgery for a permanent skin whitening solution like maybe a white permanent covering of the face.better skin whitening laser treatments that can satisfy any skin tone. etc? moreResolved Question: Can I sue the NHS for refusing me treatment for keloid scars............?
I have had keloid scars for almost 10 years. I have been ona acourse of treatment which was supposed to end with laser surgery. I had a series of painful steroid injeections, which made the scars worse and now I have applied for laser surgery twice, only to be rejected as they say it is only due to 'cosmetic' reasons despite having very low confidence and esteem as a result of them, which has profoundly affected my life. I am going to appeal the decision and then I think I have to tke it to court. I think the NHS are an absolute disgrace, I am so damn angry about it. They are happy to give laser surgery and treatment for people who get tattoes or people who want sex changes but the few people who actually need it like me are denied it. Hi. I'm 16 years old and I've had stretch marks, horrible stretch marks, on my thighs since I was late 14. I have tried everything to fade them from cremes to lasers. Nothing has faded them. Please don't say that they are just a part of me, I really need them to fade. I'm not okay with them as they ruin my appearance. i know that sounds like an oxymoron: cheap but reliable.... but as shallow as it may sound, i want to get cosmetic laser surgery on my face (bad acne scars) and i want to know places i can go, outside of the U.S. that won't have me regretting it but won't cost me an arm and a leg. I have a medical condition that i have been to doctors several times for and they have said it i harmless. I have pearly penile papules, which are small bumps on the penis that are a natural occurance in %30 of men. they said they do not require treatment. the thing is they are embarrasing and the last person i was dating, the first time we had sex, i was asked all these questions that made me feel so uncomfortable...i found out that a carbon dioxide laser surgery is a way to cure the condition. I am currently a sophmore at UIC. The science courses are extremely difficult here and I try my best but because the exams are so tricky I do not do well. I try my hardest but I end up with C's in chemistry. Right now my gpa is 3.07. I am trying to raise it. I want to be a cosmetic doctor. By this, I mean I want to do injections such as botox and dermal fillers, and lasers. I do not want to do plastic surgery. Over this past summer I worked for a plastic surgeon. Right now, I am working in the UIC writing center as a tutor and will continue till I receive my degree. I was thinking of getting a reccomendation from the head of the writing center and the plastic surgeon I worked for over the summer for med school. In addition there is an indian organization in which i help children learn how to dance and I have organized events for them. I am very active in this indian organization as well and perform dances. In high school, I volunteered at a nursing home. Right now I am taking an Anthropology course and my professor is the head curator of Africa at the field museum of natural history in Chicago. There is an internship offered at the museum in the summer where you get to work with a curator and choose your own research project. Only six students receive this opportunity. I want to try for this opportunity as it could help with med school applications. I am not a science person and to be honest, I personally would not choose to be a doctor if I could not be a cosmetic doctor. The only reason I want to be a doctor is so that i can be a cosmetic doctor. It is the one thing I am truly passionate about. I know everything about dermal fillers, botox, and lasers. If I were a cosmetic doctor I would strive to be the best cosmetic doctor because it is what I am passionate about. However, I am not passionate about being a doctor, but if I was a cosmetic doctor I would be the best cosmetic doctor I could possibly be. Do I have a good shot at getting into med school or are my chances low? Med school is highly competitive and I may not be a genius, but I want this more than anything so that I can be a cosmetic doctor. moreVoting Question: How do I get rid of red cheeks (due to raised blood vessels)?
So, I went to the doctor awhile ago and he said it wasn't Rosacea, and I went to see my old step mom who does laser cosmetic surgery stuff and she said they were raised blood vessels in my face. I went to her to do laser treatment about 3 times and it got less red but I never went back. She said a few more sessions would lessen the redness but that the vessels were too deep and they would come back. What can I do! Is there any cream and/or surgery I could get? I've got used to them but if one day I could get rid of them I would love life so much more! moreResolved Question: How significant is scarring with laser mole removal?
I've had a cosmetic procedure done precisely a week ago, involving laser mole removal surgery on my face (with cauterization). The first day, the area was red, and then gradually as the week progressed, the redness around the area increased, whereas there was a circular flesh-shaped scab. I applied the topical cream my plastic surgeon advised me to apply on the area (two times a day), and during my nap today, I awoke to a slight bleeding of the area. I'm scared of scarring, although he assured me that by 3 months time, he is 98% positive I will not see a scar. Is this normal? Should I apply the cream still? Will this scar? I'm incredibly scared, as this mole has been the bane of my existence, and the cause of a significantly lowered self esteem. Any suggestions for prevention? Anyone went through this? Okay, so am I weird, or what? My female peers spend money on things like laser hair removal, boob enhancments, lipo, fat burners, mole removing surgery, hair whatever, stuff that I haven't even heard of. I go and get my hair cut every other month or so and I've considered lasik because I hate my glasses and refuse to wear contacts. I'm 25 yrs. old, & I've been wearing glasses all my life. Even though I had to wear bifocals when I was in elementary school, I was still able to read without my glasses. When I was 5, I had eye surgery. Laser surgery to correct my eye muscles. I was SEVERELY cross-eyed. As a teen, an optometrist told me that I have high astigmatism in my eyes, but I was still able to read without my glasses. 2 yrs. ago, a doctor told me that the retina in my eyes are larger than normal, & that I'm @ risk for glaucoma, & that they need to monitor my eyes closely. Now, I struggle even WITH my glasses to see. That Dr. told me that I could lose my vision any day, without warning, if glaucoma is untreated. There was a lady who told me that 1 of my eyes are still crossed, but she said the surgery would be cosmetic & probably wouldn't improve my vision. My eyes would just "look" straight. My vision is not blurry, but even with these glasses (I can only get a new prescription every 2 yrs. for glasses under Medicaid, & I had them for over a year. I used to see very well with them, but my vision is vanishing.) Even with these glasses, my eyes just feel weak, & I still have to squint. moreResolved Question: Does cosmetic surgery count as a medical expense that you can take off your taxes?

I'm looking for some information on cosmetic surgery options for stretch marks. So far I have found chemical peels and fraxel lasers... Is this all that is available as a treatment option?I have tried Bio Oil, I'm not sure if that stuff really works. See I have terrible stretch marks from working out. I have them all around my shoulders right? Well after hearing all the praise about Bio Oil I decided to give it a shot. So I'm currently testing it, I put Bio Oil on one shoulder and leave the other side alone. No improvements so far, they both look the same. "I'm following the directions too" I have read one review on Amazon that mentions there is nothing in Bio Oil that should really help stretch marks(concerning the ingredients). So I'm starting to think what people are expriencing is the natural healing and fading that the body does with stretchmarks. moreResolved Question: is it safe to have cosmetic surgery in thailand?

I'd like to see a dermatologist to ask his or her opinion on cosmetic procedures like the ones offered by laser clinics etc, so how do I do this? I've heard that you need to go through your GP first, but can I ask my GP to refer me to a dermatologist for cosmetic reasons, rather than medical? I also don't know whether to tell them about my mental health, as I suffer from depression and social anxiety, and I have heard that cosmetic practitioners do not like operating on people with 'unstable mental health', for obvious reasons, though I myself am quite realistic on the limitations of cosmetic procedures. However, because I have very little money and want the procedure done as soon as possible - I go to uni in October - would it be better to tell my GP the reason I want the procedure? I have heard that - on an unrelated field - that mole removal can be done cosmetically at no cost on the NHS if the patient is self-conscious about it and the scarring that could be left by a basic excision (how it is done on the NHS...). Would this be similar for cosmetic laser surgery do you think? Any advice greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. To Hannah: I'm not looking for mole removal, it was just an example of the difference between 'medical' ie: necessary for your physical health, and 'cosmetic' ie: preferable for your image/self-esteem. Basically I have serious dark circles beneath my eyes and horrible skin in general really. I know that dark circles are difficult to treat and probably impossible to remove completely, so I am looking for treatments that can improve them and the surrounding skin too. And yes, it is severely affecting my confidence and social life. Do you know how long it would take to see a dermatologist after referral, and how long to get treatment after seeing the dermatologist? I go to uni in October so I am quite desperate to a) have the treatment before then, and b) be at least significantly healed, if not completely. oh and 'laser treatment' means like the one offered here: http://www.nottinghamlaserclinic.com/lasersurgery.htm thanks for your help! moreResolved Question: How to get rid of stretch marks after pregnancy?

I have an almost 1 yr old female named Binnie who was spayed back in November at my local humane society. This was my first experience with animal surgery of any kind. She wasn't given any meds or antibiotics. The doctor said they wouldn't have helped much and most likely would have caused side effects. Binnie was absolutely miserable for 4 days which made me miserable. She was in a tremendous amount of pain. She would only move when necessary. She follows me everywhere in the house. When I would leave the room, she would start to cry. I would go to pick her up and carry her but then she would hiss and growl from the pain. This went on for the first four days. Also I had to make her wear a doggy shirt when I wasn't home to deter her from picking at the stitches. Also, her fur hasn't grown back properly but that's completely cosmetic and unimportant. Because of the horrible experience, I am extremely reluctant to have Marble, my 4 mo old, spayed. I know the upsides of having them spayed. No kittens, no spraying, no heat, etc. But I honestly don't want Marble to experience the pain. I took Binnie to the Humane Society since they had the SNIPS program and I payed $30. I'll go ahead pay the $130 that their vet charges. He said for $30 more he can do laser, which makes the healing process quicker and Marble shouldn't be in as much pain. Did you all have such horrible experiences as well? Would the laser be the best option? I have the money this time to pay for the laser if it is actually better and she'll be getting microchipped too. She'll also get her last distemper and rabies. I asked the receptionist and she said it's okay for her to get all 4 of these things at the same time, spay, microchip, distemper and rabies. I'm waiting until she's 6 mos old. Thanks!Catlover: I'll copy and paste what I put in the question for you: "She wasn't given any meds or antibiotics. The doctor said they wouldn't have helped much and most likely would have caused side effects." They didn't sell, offer, or want me to give meds. You're right BengalMom: I am under contract to have her spayed. Afterward, I'll receive the TICA registration papers. I guess I can go ahead and have her spayed at 5 mos old. I feel horrible to do this but I completely understand that it is for her benefit. I truly hope that this experience will be much better. Thanks for the good luck!Frank: I didn't take it the wrong way at all. I'll be a tad bit more clear. This was my very first experience with animal surgery. After what I'd read from research, it seemed that females may have a more difficult time with spay than males with neuter. When I saw her in so much pain, I figured it was normal, but it completely turned me off with spaying. I did call the Humane Society during those 1st 4 days and told them the situation and asked if maybe I should come purchase some meds. I was told that cats don't need meds and that she was being dramatic. Drama is not Binnie's personality though. Anyway, I will definitely avoid SNIPS but I'll still recommend to people who may have financial issues, but will let them know my experience. Marble will be going to her vet to be spayed and this time I'll insist on getting pain meds just in case. Binnie is doing just fine now, btw. moreResolved Question: is there a medical insurance designed specifically for cosmetic procedures or surgery?
