Resolved Question: can i use two sniping programs for ebay at once?

two different programs for 1 item. like if i set one to snipe at 10 seconds and the other at 5 seconds? i want to do this just in case there is another sniper.. but will the two programs cancel each other out or something? i desperately want what i'm bidding on!! also my laptop is brand new-i got it like 2-3 months ago. it has roadrunner wireless internet and has windows 7 and when ever i search something on google, the time(it tells you how many seconds it took in the upper rightish area) that it takes to search is always less that one second like 0.60 or less. so how many seconds would you recommend i set my AuctionSniper program at? more

Voting Question: How do I get my laptop to quit shutting off and rebooting over and over again?

It's a Compaq Presario, it's an oldie but goodie from the 90's, running Windows XP Professional. It's a hand-me-down that was running and perfectly until I accessed the internet through Roadrunner high-speed wireless internet. First thing, I downloaded the AVR antivirus program, Spybot Search & Destroy from the majorgeeks website, then Malwarebytes from that website, set up and ran the programs, then I went straight to the Microsoft and Windows websites to download security and other updates. This is when the freeze/shutdown problem started. I upgraded to IE7, then obediently ran the Windows Genuine Validation program while attempting to set up automatic updates and Microsoft claimed that my version of XP Pro is counterfeit, even after I manually ran the product key directly from its original packaging. (SIGH.) I've read plenty of anguished website posts from other people who are being put through Microsoft Hell when it comes up with a Genuine Validation "false positive," and I am sorely tempted to give in to their continual demand to upgrade for $150.00, but I just don't have the money right now, and might not have it until after the first of the year. I'm in the process of requesting a review of the situation by Microsoft, but it's very slow going. Anyway, I've had limited success in accessing the internet in the meantime. During the logon process two separate Genuine Validation windows pop up asking if I want to resolve the problem now by paying $150.00 and trying to download the Genuine Validation "program" (HIJACK). I keep selecting "later" and "cancel" and the logon proceeds. So far, I've been able to surf the internet for brief periods of time before the laptop freezes or shuts down. I suspect that Genuine Validation is behind this problem, but I'm not completely positive. I have also been running frequent spyware and virus checks in case this might be contributing to the problem. Here's the most recent debacle: a few days ago I was running Spybot Search & Destroy, and the laptop completely shut down in the middle of the spyware search. When I turned the laptop back on, it didn't even get to the logon screen; the Compaq logo screen came up, then a black screen where I am told there was an unexpected power shutoff and Windows didn't close properly and I am offered three choices to open in safe mode (safe mode, safe mode with a DOS prompt, etc) , a choice where I can start with the last known good configuration and a choice that says start Windows normally. No matter what I select, it will show the Windows XP boot screen with the waving Windows XP colored flag for a few seconds, then a bit of garbled colored static for a split second as it tries to open the logon screen, then the screen goes black as the laptop restarts and the Compaq logo comes up on the screen and the exact same sequence of events runs again. It will do this over and over again indefinitely, even if I don't make a choice and leave it highlighted on start Windows normally, in which case it will wait 30 seconds before trying to start Windows normally then shutting down completely and restarting again. If I do nothing and let it repeat the sequence of events, it will eventually shut down. I haven't been able to get it to shut down normally at all. I can get into the DOS menu by hitting F10, and Shift+F10, and I try to reset the default configuration, but I only get 10 seconds before the laptop completely shuts down again and does not restart unless I press the start button. Any suggestions as to how I can get the computer out of this merry-go-round? I would love to buy a new laptop (can anyone say MACINTOSH????), but I have to move in about a month and there's zero money in the budget for any laptop, even a used one. So: is it Windows Genuine Validation, or Spybot causing the problem, and how do I resolve it?!?!?I thought so!!! I am SO GLAD I kept all of my photos on another computer and in my camera! But: How do I access System Recovery? Is this in DOS? more

Resolved Question: How to store my guitar not going to use for awhile.?

I bought a guitar a few months ago I am now pregnant and not going to be using it for awhile..I have a Roadrunner case that I have been keeping it in. I live in the desert so Im concerned with temp change since it is about to be summer. It is an Acoustic with the option to plug into an amp with built in tuner. Im concerned because my fiance' had a 12 string guitar he kept in a hard case and one day he opened up the case and the neck was snapped while being in the case undisturbed for months....should I losen the strings while not in use to prevent tension? more

Resolved Question: Question and confusion about wireless ISP's & USB modems. Also, what is the best, most economical wireless ISP?

I've been using Roadrunner for the last couple years, and the service is good, but also pretty pricey compared to others I've seen. I could save up to $25 every month if I switched to Cricket or Clearwire, but I don't get how the USB modem works. There's a 5gb limit on Cricket & various limits with Clearwire, and there also seems to be limits on the type of content you can view on the internet. Does the 5gb or whatever other limit apply only to things you download, or does it include any other internet browsing as well, and how would I know how much browsing I do in an average month, if that is the case? And what exactly can I NOT do online with wireless USB modems? What, in your opinion/from your experience, is the best and **cheapest** wireless ISP for my situation? My only computer is a laptop. I don't have a land line. I have prepaid cell service, and very basic cable (like 20-ish channels), so no need for a cable or cellular package deal kind of thing. more

Resolved Question: How much should I charge for my guitar and amp?

I have an Ibanez Gio for sale and also a case with it. The guitar is in perfect condition except for a single area where the paint has chipped off on the side and it's hardly noticeable. The only thing it needs is some strings and it's ready to be played. I also have a Marshall MG15CD amplifier for sale, also in near perfect condition and no outside flaws. The case is a RoadRunner. How much could I charge for the guitar and amp seperately? How about the case? Do you think I could package it all together and sell it as one price, slightly discounted perhaps? I also have two amp cords and some picks. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Does 2Wire 2701HG-B work with cable modem?

We recently switched from AT&T to RoadRunner High Speed online/ Time Warner Cable internet. We got a Terayon model TJ715X for the cable modem. However, we need wireless internet setup. Can we use the 2Wire as a router? I've read some people saying on forums that it is possible... But none are really the same exact case as i have.. Can someone tell me how to do this? The 2Wire 270HG-B is a modem and a router, so I don't know what you're saying about how I can set it up like before. Before, we just needed the 2Wire, but now we need the cable modem. How do I set it up? And I tried connecting from the modem, to the 2Wire, and then to the desktop, but the at&T page comes up saying that there is no connection. more

Resolved Question: How come my internet goes extremely slow during Bittorrent use?

I use bittorrent to get subbed anime, and I've noticed that whenever I do so, when I browse the internet (which is usually quick) it takes MUCH longer to do so. And, it's not even like the torrent is affecting it D/L spd - 50kb/s, U/L spd - 60kb/s. so how come its so SLOOOOOOWWWWW? im using a router too, and my ISP is roadrunner TW in case it helps.I did a speed test at Speakeasy.net and it says I get 9456kb/s download, and 456kb/s upload. so the torrent which is only (50kb/dl 60kb/ul) should not be affecting it.to romantic: usually my torrent health is around 5000% sometimes higher (im using bitlord program) so im pretty sure I have the "health" thing down, but what else could it be?also i decided to try something and: about 2-3secs after my bittorent is off, the browsing speed returns full speed, but when the torrent is back on sometimes the pages wont even load. hope that helps.the problem has been resolved, I tried using a diff BT program and now im no longer having this problem. on a side note, how do i close this question? more

Resolved Question: Software onto usb?

My brother lives down the street and just had Roadrunner installed. Apparently there is a virus on the computer and they cannot access the internet. (This is probably just a case of needing to renew the IP address). How can i put programs like AVG and Spybot S&D on their computer? I have them installed on my computer, all i need to do now is simply put the programs onto the flash drive. Is it really that simple? more

Resolved Question: Internet Explorer hates the word "roadrunner"?!?

Whenever I type the word "roadrunner" (no spaces, non-case sensitive) into any search engine (google, wikipedia, etc.) in Internet Explorer, the page loads and all I get is a blank space, with the loading apparently finished. Also, when I try to even access a site with the word "roadrunner" in the address (eg. roadrunnerrecords.com), I get the same blank result. When I was typing this question into Yahoo in IE, it repeatedly gave me the "not responding" message because I typed the word roadrunner! I'm using Firefox at the moment, and it seems fine. Please tell me what the hell is going on!Just an update - I did use AdAware, and it found no problems of any kind. My internet is ususally very fast, and in any case, slow speed wouldn't account for absolute lack of loading whatsoever. I've cleared my cache, but there's been no change. Any more help would be much appreciated. I'm close to the edge. more

Resolved Question: What would yall think of this?

These are a couple of things i think Chrysler should do to make all right in the muscle car world. 1. They should take the Challenger, give it a correct grill, and call it a Cuda, Giving it a special cuda' correct paint job. It should be available in three colors- Sublime Green, Plum Crazy Purple, and Banana Yellow. 2. To compensate for the charger being a sedan, they should take the charger, make it a coupe, change up the front end a little bit, and call it the roadrunner. I think this should be done just too make things right as they once were, with Dodge having a similar cousin. I know they would both sell tremendesly well, especially the roadrunner, because they hacked off a lot of people by turning the charger into a sedan. There's one problem though, Chrysler seems incapable of making sports cars (case in point the crossfire), they are a luxury brand. But we can always dream, can't we? more

Resolved Question: What internet connection do i have?

seriously, we have a home wireless network, and i believe the ISP is SBC Yahoo! DSL, but evryone says that DSL maxes out at a mere 5mbps or so. Well, we have a Belkin Wireless Router(54g) that Runs at 110mbps for the main computer its connected to, and 54mbps for wireless transfers. We use 1 other desktop computer, and 2 laptops for a total of 3 wireless connections(both laptops are 802.11g0) i also use a PSP sometimes.(802.11b) What is this configuration called? i see roadrunner ads. boasting a massive 10 to 20mbps. In that case, if we got DSL, it is 54mbps; that beats the hell outta raodrunner, and everyone says RR is faster. Not in our case. Is this some souped up verison of DSL or what? more

Resolved Question: What can I do after Roadrunner broke their own privacy policy?

They gave name, address and account info to a detective who had no court order.. He just called them and they faxed him my account info and it's in the police report. The detective and 2 cops came to my house today with it and a posting off of my blog where I had listed someones home address which he thought was a crime. It was a major embarassment, but after like an hour when I explained to him the address is a matter of public record that anyone can get off of the countys own internet system and that it was a free speech issue he was satisfied and left. I looked up Roadrunners privacy policy and it says they will only give out users account information if there is a court order to do so- and in this case there was none... What can I do about it? more

Resolved Question: Why do some people depart work promptly at their finish times, and others dont?

At my place of work, some people finish at 4 o'clock. Some of these people are "4 o'clock pumpkins" because they must stop everything at once (including halfway though a social conversation), and vacate the building quickly at 4 o'clock on the dot as though there's an emergency. The scene can be like the roadrunner cartoon. In most cases, the individuals don't have any personal commitments to attend to after four o'clock, and become very distressed even if you stop the elevator when they're on their way out. Other people are happy to remain in the building past their finish time. Most of the time, I'm a 4 o'clock pumpkin myself. When I'm in this frame of mind, it feels like a compulsion. Today, I challenged this by staying past 4 o'clock and found I wasn't any worse off staying in the building. What are the psychological forces behind the four o'clock pumpkin?I'm not saying its bad to leave on time. I'm just curious at what drives the panic like behaviour some people constantly get at their finish time (even though they might not have after-work commitments)Not everyone finishes at 4pm. People have different start/finish times. more
