The suspicions concerning the 'fixing' of the early June 1977 Brit. pop music charts still runs to this day. Just wondering if Mr. 'money-bags' Cowell will try the same trick, against the outside runner, Rage Against The Machine's cute tune 'Killing In The Name Of', spending bundles for his vacuous warbling to reach the pop summit. moreResolved Question: What punishment would you want to see given to a person who alegedly eluded police in a high speed chase?
There has been a HEATED discussion about punishments handed out to people who elude police in high speed chases. So I want YOU to be the jury on this one. In this scenario, the person successfully evades the police at night on dark country roads and a rather calm and respectful individual with similar clothing and bike is later found. The police and the courts believe they have the right person. Nobody was injured and the roads were nearly empty. Biggest risk was the rider killing himself and the police killing themselves or one of the few people on the road that night (They did 130MPH). So you are now on a jury! Some idiot decides to take police on a wild and reckless chase approaching speeds of 135MPH through several counties. The jerk evades road blocks and shows no respect to the police authority by not stopping even when the police are side by side. The rider escapes and the pursuit is called off shortly after calling out a helicopter. Armed with only a partial plate, dark video and general desciption of bike color and helmet and things like that. an All points bullartin is put out. A tip is called in and an individual matching the description is found on the phone laughing with a local woman, a stranger who was helping him call a wrecker for his broken down bike. He is arrested but is completely cooperative and extremely respectful of the officers. He spends the night in jail before bailing himself out and repairing his failed front brakes. Now for the other side. This individual is an Air Force veteran and successful computer engineer with no record and only a few speeding tickets. Born poor in a 3rd world country and schooled in some of the toughest and most violent schools, he chose the right path in life and graduated with honer leaving. Closest to being arrested was being put in handcuffs after being harrased by cops who tried to accuse him of spraying graffiti on a wall at 7AM on a weekday, when in fact his chain on his bike(which the officer never looked at) was broken and he was waiting on assitance when the police shoewed up. He is a highly trained and skilled rider with race track experience. He has never been in an accident, sold drugs and does not believe in software and music piracy. He also does not drink or smoke and is very health concious. He is single and is passionate about helping troubled youth stay on the right path. He has spoken an numerous high schools and has been voted best presenter by the students. He also offers free training about motorcycle safety and other things online. Specifically he has been a very vocal advocate of discouraging people from running from the police on bikes. Evidence: Low quality police video Very close match on a few items of clothing and three letters(sticker) on his jacket Multiple officers written reports of what they say in pitch black night with their spotlights Maybe you think they have the wrong person, maybe you don't, but let's assume that although not 100% solid it at least looks like this individual very closely matches the description of the runner but there is no description of the actual person at all(can't see them in riding gear). The judge thinks they have the right person and would like a minimum of 30 days in prison and a felony conviction. This will ruin the the man's life and prevent him from being able to help more kids and since he uses a lot of his own money to fund his efforts to helps troubled kids, he will be very limited there. What do YOU think? Did he do it? If he did, will you support the judges proposal? If not what will you support? $2500 fine and probation? The fine and community service, perhaps focusing on preventing other riders from putting their lives and the public at risk? House arrest? Okay so i was playing around with my cell the other day and decided to change my ring tone. And just for a laugh i changed it to ''I'm on a boat'' by lonely island(at the time i thought it would be funny if it rang when i was by myself, not when 15 other people heard it). So later on i went to class and was writing a test on the computer and left my purse on my desk. It's totally silent and then i hear this music BLASTING, and i'm like WTF what idiots cell is going off (i usually turn mine off and even if i don't usually NOBODY ever calls me) and then i realized it was mine O_O I like yelled out SHIIIIIIIITT (which obviously wasn't necessary -_-) and grabbed my cell and ran out of there faster than road runner, lol. I just got strange looks, and a little crap from my teacher. Even though it's not a big deal and i should get over myself, it always makes me red thinking about it (especially since the guy i like is in my class) but i also can't help to laugh at myself. Anyone have any advice that would help me get over it faster? and what's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you? Now then I'm sure you guys are going to mostly be talking about Rolling Stone's political views, but that I really don't care for. Also yes i'm a Liberal, but the political part of Rolling stone i just don't care if they do it or not. Either way i'm not reading that part. My biggest problem is their damn album reviews and who they put on the cover. They rarely ever review any metal albums which really burns me and they really have the nerve to give a jonas brothers album a good review and not only that, but put them one the cover TWICE! That to me is the death of music as we know it. The beatles were on the cover of a Rolling Stone and now the Jonas Brothers are some how in the same league as the beatles or Led zeppelin? Also this is how bad they are with reviewing albums. They wouldn't even review Megadeth's album United Abominations which was an amazing album. Also their top 50 album list for 2008 is a farce. To me the best album of 2008 was for sure Watershed by Opeth. Opeth isn't even that much of an under ground band. When you use someone's wireless internet from your own computer, is it like you're using their internet and their IP address? For instance, say I have a desktop computer with Road Runner and my neigher has a laptop (or some form of computer) with wireless internet or Wi-Fi. If my neighbor connects to my internet and downloads something off of his music downloader, will what he downloaded be stored in my files on my computer since he is using my internet? I have Road Runner Internet service with their wireless Zyxel 900 wireless modem as my set up. When I first turn the modem on, my download speed is about 200 kb/s. This quickly falls however, below 100 kb/s within a few minutes and continues to slowly drop down to the 7kb/s range. Is there any particular reason this would happen? What can i do to improve the performance of my connection? I reset the moden and router and it still is bad. I usually get 570-600 kbps. I am getting super slow speeds right now but between 8-11:40pm I get slow speeds as well about 20% of the usual. This only happens during those 4 hours and after 12am it goes back to normal. Weird. My dad just bought this device for music and it has some antennas on it. I dont know if that is creating a distortion but it may be since the problem began when it was turn on for a while. It is now turn off but I am still getting super slow spees. Youtube Constantly Subscribed to tons of podcasts, 2 over hour long audios update weekly, 10 vidcasts that usually don't go over 5mins that update Daily, and 2 videocasts that last about an hour update weekly. Tons, and Tons, of Streaming Porn I actually DONT use torrents or pirate at all, but I do get music and videos from the itunes store every once and a while (When I miss an episode of a show and a CD every month or so.) it takes about a minute for the internet to open, i go to website and click the "back" button to return to the previous page and it takes me 2 or 3 pages back. I want to see a video on youtube.com, ign.com, yahoo music, etc. and it takes a long ass time to load. Why?!!!!even without opening the internet my coputer still slows down. I click only once on the top blue part of a window it either maximizes it or minimizes it, or i click once on the visiualations screen in Window Media Player & it puts in full screen. I "My Documents" i click once in a song and it plays it(as if i clicked on it twice...same goes for documents or pictures). I right click on an item and it takes forever for the options to appear. I am a huge music buff. I listen to everything. As a result, I am finding that I am growing tired of the music I have. I regularly look on myspace at the new bands, and Road Runner Music does have a lot of new faces. However, they still all sound the same to me. I wouldn't mind hearing something totally different. Perhaps someone out there knows of some foreign music that has a hiphop, alternative, or rock flair to it. For instance, I have heard a lot of Indian techno music that was pretty good. I tried once to find some Greecian music that was similar, but to no avail. I am actually not all that into techno, but I like the back beats on a lot of it.
