Resolved Question: Is it a good idea to use a projector as my computer monitor?

This i have been thinking of a while, now. I have a 19" Philips TFT LCD monitor, which is 7 years old. It is working fine, but i want bigger. Even our home PC has a bigger screen than mine, as my work. Money is not an issue, and which brand would you recommend, and has the longest burn time, as i will be using it for quite a few hours a day, and if i did get one, it would be from the ceiling. I would move the desk further away for a bigger view. Is this a good idea? Have you done it? Please help me. Thanks. The projector I am looking at is: Acer K10 DLP pico projector. Resolved Question: Do modern-day movie theaters use modern-day projectors, or do they keep it traditional?

Resolved Question: Front projector. Can anyone recommend a good front projector?

I don't like those tiny LCD displays. I like to watch movies on a huge screen in a dark room. I know an LCD or plasma display is much clearer but the feeling being inside a movie theater beats them all. I need a recommendation for a good front projector with decent specs and a low price. I have been reading a few reviews and like the Optoma DV 11. What's your take on that model? Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Are LCD projectors that much worse than DLP, or is it just hype? Anyone happy with their LCD projector?

I am going to get a low end home theater projector. I looked at the infocus in72, optoma h27, toshiba tdp-et## (forget the model) and the epson home 20. The DLP seems to get better reviews for black but they are much lower in lumens. Also the 300-400 replacement dlp bulb really scares me. The epson seems to have better colors, higher light output. $200 bulbs and much more flexible positioning. I like the idea of putting the projector on the coffee table instead of behind or on the ceiling. I figure that I my Wii, home theater pc and dvd player in the coffee table as well. What worries me is the test that Texas Instruments did that showed that LCDs are really prone to burning out their colors. But the test was a little extreme. 24/7 operation for 2 months. Anyone else have an epson powerlite home 20, 30s or something similar with an lcd prjector and are happy with it? I don't want to go 720p or higher for another 2-3 years.I have alot of Epson stuff other than projectors and have always been happy with their quality. more

Resolved Question: Which DVD projector should I get for home theatre?

I was looking at the Zoombox that is selling for like $259 at JCPenney but read nothing but bad reviews. Looks like I have to spend quite a bit more? Don't want to spend $1000, preferably not even more than $600 or $700. Even $500 or less would fit my budget better. But if you can't get a good picture than it's not worth it to waste the money at all. So which do you recommend? I want to be able to enlarge the picture against the wall pretty big. If it included the DVD player that would be a plus, but if it doesn't that's fine. By the way, I'm not too clear on the difference between LCD or whatever. I just want to be able to use DVDs. That's all I care about, and the price, and the picture quality, etc. more
