Voting Question: Am connecting my playstation to my projector, but there's no sound?

The projector only takes the video (yellow) cable. The red and white cables from my playstation are left dangling. I figure I need to plug them into something, but I rather not buy a new set of speakers. Is there a converter I can plug them into, that I can then connect to my cheap single-plug computer speakers? I've looked on amazon and have seen a few converters, but I don't want to buy the wrong thing by accident. more

I am going to have a party. I have 4 video cams and a laptop and a desktop computer. And i have a a multi media projector. And also I have the cables. Resolved Question: How to get sky through projector.?

OK. I have a cheap but good projector, but the only connections it has is a yellow pin thing (like a headphones plug), and a 15 pin thing...no scart. I want to get sky to play through my projector and I bought a signal sender, but its scart. So I can connect it to the sky box, but not the projector. I thought that because people can watch TV through a video player, that I would be able to watch sky through the video player, but this doesnt work. I tried it with a normal video first bfore I messed around with the sky box, and it didnt work. The video player has a red socket, a white socket, and a scart. Resolved Question: Splitting signal from a tuner(coax) to a projector(rca) UNSOLVABLE!?

I have DishNetwork and 1 box(which controls 2 TVs). The signal going to the second TV is split and goes to another part of my house, the jack there is coax. I want to put this signal from that coax jack into a projector and speakers (the projector has an RCA/composite video in only). The speakers have RCA audio in. Since I am already using the tuner in the Dish box for the signal, I should just need to physically change the coax into RCA. I know I can hook it up to a cheap VCR, but that's not the answer I'm looking for. Is this possible to do? How? Intellgent answers only please. more

i am trying to figure out the best and easiest to hook my ps3 up to a projector that only has vga and dvi inputs that are hd compatible. now heres my problem: the projector has no sound and i need to hook the ps3 up to my vcr which is in turn going to the speakers. i must go through the vcr for sound, no exceptions! the vcr also already has an s-video going to the projector for regular tv and dvds. so, i have a 20ft dvi cable running from my projector to wherever i need it. so im thinking the best way to do it is to get a component to dvi adapter so i can hook the 3 video component cords to the adapter which is hooked up to the dvi cord going to the projector and then hook the 2 audio cords from the component to the vcr which will sent it to the speakers. so i need to know if there is a cheap adaptor for component to dvi that will work because the only ones ive seen say that they need a vga video card so to hook your pc to a tv, as in dvi to comp, not comp to dvi thankssorry its ati cards that the adapters are for not whatever it was i said.i had an idea. maybe i could just get an hdmi to dvi adapter to go to the projector because i already have an hdmi cord and get a comp to hook up only the sound to the vcr. can the ps3 send the audio out the comp and video out the hdmi at the same time? more

I am looking for a cheap projector to play my ps3. It would be nice to play it in high definition. I was told that 720p and 1080i video modes are hd and most projectors support that. I was also told that to play the ps3 through a projector with high resolution you need either an hdmi cable or a component cable as they support video modes up to 1080i. does this mean that a composite input is not enough? a lot of projectors support 720p and 1080i video modes but only have composite inputs, whats the point if composite cables cant support the higher resolution video modes? more

Voting Question: DLP PROJECTOR LAMPS cheaper alternative replacement?

I own a Plus Piano DLP video grade projector which is 200 watts and only about 500 lumens and 1000 hrs of bulb life. I use it on a dedicated home theater room which is totally dark projecting on a 100" screen. It's almost film like video and I've been using it for 7 years now on an average viewing time of 2 hrs/day. (Obviously it has surpassed the rated lamp life). At present I am using my second replacement lamp and I know that sooner or later it will also expire. Cost for a replacement is $400.00. Is there an alternative way or a cheaper way like replacing the bulb only and not the whole lamp assembly with the same wattage? Is this possible? Is there somewhere I could buy this "halogen like" bulb? Any suggestions or response is very much appreciable. more

I've got an awesome HD projector that I mainly use for PS3 but I have watched basic cable on it by connecting the coax cable into an old VCR and then the video RCA into the projector because there is no coax input on the projector. I bought myself a gamecube for christmas, but my sister has the only TV in the house, meaning if she doesn't like me at the moment she can say "it's my TV" and make me stop playing. I have recently bought a high definition projector. In order to watch Blurays I have plugged the projector into my PS3 via the HDMI cable. Brilliant. However, which port on the PS3 do I now use for sound? I do not want to buy an expensive surround sound system, just something cheap which will do the job. On the PS3 there is a Digital Out (Optical) slot, and an AV Multi Out slot. I have a AV Multi Out cable with red/white (audio) and yellow (video) heads. Resolved Question: What is a cheap way to input 4 component video devices to a TV and a projector without losing image quality?

I have 4 devices with component outputs that i want wired to a TV and a projector. I tried several switcher boxes that required power, but they all distorted the picture slightly sending slow horizontal lines up the screen. I tried a Philips 4:1 switcher from Wal-Mart, and then thought I was saved when I found a RadioShack 4:2 (exactly what I need), but it distorted the exact same way. I'm thinking about adding a component amplifier after the switcher box to see if that helps. What do you think? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.UPDATE: I bought a 1:4 Component Amplifier http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2783643&cp=&sr=1&origkw=component+amplifier&kw=component+amplifier&parentPage=search from RadioShack and hooked that up past the switchbox and it seems to have completely removed all distortion and unless it's my imagination, improved the overall picture quality to normal. I will admit, at one point the dark lines faintly came back during a TV show, as well as the white static zip across the screen, but then went away randomly. Other devices worked perfectly. I think at this point, I'm going to assume that the amplifier has only helped and try a switchbox that does not require power to see if that helps. more

Voting Question: Cheap character generator?

Hi, I am doing live video for my middle school's talent show, and am looking for a system something like Harris Inscriber OnTour, except cheaper. Basically, I need to bring in video from 1 camera, overlay some graphics which I can manually update (such as 1st place winners, info on the contestant, stuff like that), and output to a projector. I am looking for something around $5000 (or less). Any ideas are greatly appreciated. :)Thanks for the input. I already have Premiere and Final Cut Studio from Apple. I have a very professional system, but thought it would be cool to go 'more' live. Right now I just play files when the time comes up. To actually use a character generator would be really cool. Lol almost like a sports match more

who ever can answer this will be alot help. i have an optima projector it has a usb port in the back i have no idea why it would be an input but it dosen't say ether way. i want to use that to play the video from my computer is that possible or is what seems to be such a cheap and easy fix that just can't be done. ant help would be great thanks in advance more

I want to get a projector. It is the Hitachi CP-RS57. I plan on getting this projector for movies from laptop, dvd player, etc, and for my video game console. I wanted something cheap so it is not that great. I was wondering if this is compatible with my game console(ps2) and dvd player. It says it has composite video, but when I look the images of the back of it, it only has the yellow composite. So how does this work? Does this mean I can't connect my composite dvd player (the cable with red, white, and yellow)? Thanks in advance. Resolved Question: Can anyone Reccomend a good video projector?

I am looking for a video projector I can plug into my pc laptop. I would like to keep it under 400$ while still getting a new, good brand. Anyone have experience or reccomendations? Is 400 too cheap?I actually only need to project on inside of a geodesic dome tent. for a series of outdoor visionary art and music festivals thru October. (we are the support staff, we want to project others art for our art contribution!). Most of these festivals are at private parks, and there is little outside light to interfere. The dome is only 35" in diameter, and the opaque white cover is on the top third. I think 120-140" would be more than enough, and 1400lumens should be enough. Since our camp theme changes every year, I may only need this year, so I wanted to see if I could afford it if I couldn't turn around and sell it back. more
