Open Question: would you use a delivery service that could bring you food from any restaurant?
Would you use a delivery service that could bring you food from any restaurant?
I am interested in any responses slash opinions in regard to a third-party restaurant delivery service. My hometown of Findlay, Ohio, is by considerable accounts known for its many restaurants, and the cost of living here, at least for housing, is definitely not cheap. With that in mind, I can't help but to believe this would be an ideal place to start a restaurant delivery business. Actually, I am even comfortable just saying an organized experiment.
I understand there are many things to consider before just jumping right into something like this, and, I am prepared to shoulder the responsibility. My first pursuit would be to speak with restaurant ownership in attempt to acquire commissions on the orders I deliver for their customers. If negotiations fail, I would still deliver food from their restaurant, except the delivery charge would be slightly higher. In practice, I would than be making money only on tips and delivery charges.
I am totally ok if this pursuit does not make me richer than bill gates. I am a student trying to make ends meet, and I figured as long as just a small fraction of the population used my service on a regular basis, I could very well expect to make at least rent money.
So, what's the likelihood that you or your family would use such a service and how often? I would deliver from any restaurant (chain, or family), and would say tipping is optional and delivery charge would be anywhere from $3-$7 (depending on amount of food) and never higher than $7 except for long-distance deliveries.
All responses welcome!**i forgot to mention food prices would be normal, no mark-ups

moreResolved Question: Today's Parents Worst Since The Start Of Time?
Today's parents are not parents as they are defense attorneys. We all hear daily that their kids "never" do anything wrong. B.S.! Parents today do not teach accountability, being responsible and if their offsprings ever get into a situation that the kid does not like....parents will sue and raise hell until they get the results the want even if they do not come close to deserving it. God bless today's teachers as parents are their biggest enemy!
We see it everywhere. Taken a flight lately? Parents bring their young children on a plane and let them scream, holler, and annoy all others that had plans of a nice quite flight. Do the parents of the unruly kids pay more for their airfare? What gives parents the right to let their children disturb all others and make people miserable? When did in become socially exceptable for parents to let their children run wild and be obnoxious in a restaurant, hotel, movie theatre, grocery store, etc.? USA Today just did a poll this week about air travel. Well over 90% said they hate having to fly with parents with children as they are subjected to a horrible experience of crying, screaming ruining the business travelver's flight. People that responded to the poll went on to say there should be a special section for parents with young children. Absoultely love this idea and I had better not hear a wimper of descrimination. You no grounds to state that. While growing up in an era where there were crying rooms in movie theatres. Glass in rooms are where parents would take their kids when they were crying. Today we could have the same room but parents would not think of taking their kids in there. Why? Because they just don't give a damn. Parents today feel their kids can be as rude, loud with no manners and everyone else should just have to deal with it. AGAIN B.S. I was recently in a chain resturant and parents had 3 kids causing a loud scene and i saw other patrons asking to be moved away to enjoy their meal. As all should feel I approached the parents and asked if they paid more for their meal to allow them the right to make everyone eles dining experience a nightmare? The father stood up and wanted to fight. Yep, he wanted to fight and told me he was going to kick my ass....because he sucked as a parent, there is no dicipline in their household. Results were I encouraged him to hit me. And I went on to say that when you do I will own everything you have, you will be in jail and your children won't have a father. All this because you think everyone should turn a deaf ear to your to your undisciplined children and all others should just get comfortable of NEVER having a quite meal, flight, movie or grocery shopping experience.
One would hope parents would realize that their children's behavior is a direct reflection of their parenting or lack of. People, neighbors, friends, co-workers do judge the parents by the actions of their kids. WIth that they determine the parents character, class and if this is someone they would socialize with.
Remember when your father could just give you the look while out to eat and you knew you have to behave? That was when going out to eat was a priviledge not a right. What happen to the values we used to have?
In closing my wife and I both own businesses. We have seen over the last 5 years that when we have hired a 20 something year old employee that they lack the core qualities that takes to make a good employee. Not accountable for their actions, lack of respect for others, "all about me attitude", the feeling of entitledment without work ethic to achieve higher goals and always quick to call their parents to complain. Guess what? This is the real world and Momma and Daddy have no way to bail you out of not doing your job. Bottom line is we have not and will not entertain the thought of hiring anyone that just got out of school. We are running businesses not day care.

moreResolved Question: Is a Ban to Chain Restaurants and Stores Unconstitutional?
Surrounded on three sides by the soaring red rock cliffs of Zion National Park, this town of about 500 has the kind of charm one would expect from a tiny tourist burg in a scenic location.
A 2008 Forbes magazine travel article included it among the "20 Prettiest Towns" in America.
"They haven't been homogenized, they still have their local character — and the charm is real," photographer Bob Krist wrote.
Striving to protect that charm, town officials crafted an ordinance that bans "formula restaurants" from opening within the city limits. A group of eight investors challenged that ordinance, suing Springdale, 16 town officials and the town's attorneys for what the plaintiffs say is their constitutional right to open a Subway restaurant franchise.
"We knew of the ordinance by the time we contracted with Subway, but my clients looked into it and absolutely believed that ordinance was unconstitutional," says David Stucki, the attorney representing the investors, who are incorporated in Utah as Izzy Poco. The ordinance has been in place since 2006. The suit was filed June 17 in U.S. District Court.
Chuck Thompson, executive director of the International Municipal Lawyers Association, says the investors may have a legal argument if they can prove the town of Springdale attempted to limit business ownership to local investors.
Rick Dean of Mount Shasta, Calif., says he understands the town's intentions in trying to maintain its unique atmosphere but believes the investors have a free-enterprise right to open the franchise.
"This is America, darn it," he says

moreResolved Question: Can a Soldier be forced into PCS orders with a petition?
I am just about out of answers to solve this problem. The obvious ones haven't worked thus far. A friend of mine happens to be married to a soldier. He has had a history of violence toward her. The things he has put her through have been textbook abuse. You could open any domestic violence pamphlet and see the correlations as plain as day. She has tried talking to the local women's shelters but she doesn't want to live her life running and hiding from this guy. That's no way to live but neither is staying with him. She's somewhat cornered. She has a 14 month old son as well. She doesn't want to be dragging him through such a mess. Her father took her 3 states away and hid her from this guy about a month before a deployment. A temporary restraining order was put in place at that time and has expired. While the order was in place she tried working with the Army to help get her through this. They said that they would put him on lock down until he left for Iraq. He sneaked out that night and went to her parents house looking for her and tried to get in a fistfight with her dad. Due to this she has very little faith in what the Army can do to protect her. The guy is a loose cannon. He has stalked her. He has followed her around to restaurants. He has showed up at her place of work and yelled and cause such scenes that her employers even started to question weather she was a liability. He has broken and entered in the middle of the night and brandished firearms in a threatening manor. This stuff has got to stop but she's too scared to bring a divorce up to him with him in the area. No one deserves to live a life that is so dictated with fear. That is what we Americans are willing to fight for. It's a true shame that one of our own soldiers inflicts such things on another American. She feels like if she got a job and saved enough for a divorce and brought it up to him, he'll harass her until she drops it. Are there any answers that can fix this girls life? Restraing order: useless piece of paper that did nothing. Talking to a Women's Shelter: too much running and hiding to bring a child through. Talking to his Chain of Command: absolutely useless. There has to be some way to just get this guy moved. Bottom line. It's the only way this girl is ever going to see peace.

I was a GM at a national chain restaurant and recently terminated. We had a Health Inspection recently and had multiple critical violations, 13 of which were for food that had expired the day before. The closing manager from the day before nor the opening manager that day caught the expired food. The Health Inspector arrived about 45 minutes after my shift started (I had to go to the bank too so I had only been back for about 20). I have had no prior write ups yet I was terminated as a result of the inspection, the Kitchen Manager who opened and has been with the company 10 years received only a warning. Is this wrongful termination?I understand the food was expied, my issue is that 2 other managers had shifts in between me that were strictly kitchen shift and should have caught it, I was a Front of House manager that day.

I will have to keep this short or I can type forever on this.
I am going abroad to Europe to visit my mom and dad in law ( with my spouse of course). My in laws and I are very different. I am very laid back, not snotty at all, am not finicky, and in fact am most grateful for anything anyone does. They are not. They are high strung, snotty, very finicky and not entirely grateful for most things. Their last visit to our home drove me up the wall. One incident really rings loud.... We were taking them out to a restaurant that is well known and it was OUT TREAT! My inlaws who where our guest insisted on looking at the menu before we sat down. They asked to go somewhere else as they "didn't like the menu nor the fact this was a chain restaurant". AKA The Rain Forest Cafe.. just outside of Disneyland.. I was offended, I would never do that and I was mortified that they had the balls to do this to me.
Advice on how to keep sane? I am willing to try.. but I know I am a hell of a better guest than they are.

I dislike that I don't know you! and my first impression was we must be friends!" there were a couple comments on there from her, her best friend, and me. I put my number at the end and said to text me sometime. so she texted me 3 min later and we talked a lot about summer and she seems very open about herself. I said "anything you wanna know about me?" and she asked me a couple of questions. she also said that she wants to bring me to a party with her sometime. She has seemed very open to me and very nice. Whenever I'm texting her and she stops responding for whatever reason, she seems to worry about her thinking that I think she is ignoring me. She is very apologetic about it, and I asked her why. She said "idkkkk I feel bad!" She texted me the other day asking me to visit her at work. She is a waitress at a restaurant in my town and she said that it was slow that day. I was out of town and I told her that, and she said "damnittt timmyyy!" (my name is tim, she calls me timmy). She also has been liking and commenting on some of my statuses, but not all of them. We were talking on Facebook and I asked her how she has been, and when she returned it to me I said "not so great" and she said "aww whyyy hun?" and after i explained it more she said "awww timmmyyy im really sorryy to hear that buddy! that girls a b*tch dont even worry about her." I posted as a status that I'm taking my permit test tomorrow, and we had a long comment chain going on:
her: GOOD LUCK TIMMYY! YOULL PASSSS! let me know how you do! (:
me: THANK YOU CARAA! hopefully i will pass, but im nervous! haha of course i will tell you! :]
her: you'll deffinitly pass timmy! you gotta believe you can! well...i believe you can so that should be enough! nd okay gooddd! ill be up waiting to hear!
me: yeah i feel great about it now that you think i can! youll be one of the first to hear! ;)
her: haha good im glad to hear it! and okayy goodddyyy!
me: yess im going right when the DMV opens...youll hear from me right after!
her: okayy! ill be waiting!
me: im glad! :)
she texts me about 30 mins later:
her: ill be waitinggg for my textt!!
me: im glad u are! u will be the first to know ;)
her: YES!!!
Does she like me?
What do you think I should do now in terms of a relationship with her?
Thank you for your time.
moreResolved Question: Who owns the Perkin's Restaurants chain?
I'm just wondering who owns the Perkins and Marie Calendars Restaurant Chains. I was going for a job at one of the chains and I asked myself if they have a stock-purchase option like Target offers.
After some research, i couldn't find if they're publicly traded or not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

moreVoting Question: complaining about food at a restaurant?
a wide array of people i know currently work in minimum-wage type job situations, meaning many work at restaurants, bars, clubs and fast food establishments. i constantly hear the horror stories of what goes on behind the scenes, so to speak and out of the public eye. i order food out on a daily basis, for the most part. often times healthier dishes and mainly for the purpose of the ability to have different dishes daily without having to know how to cook them, but i digress. my question would be often times that something is missing, wrong, or incorrect with my order even if i'm sitting in a restaurant. while most friends tell me stories of uncleanliness due to either the antics of the specific restaurant (ex: a well known fast food chain told an ill friend who was throwing up that they were unable to leave or even take a break to throw up, but had to keep a bucket near where they were working and cooking the food. to which they quit and decided to write letters to the health department) and other stories of the uncleanliness of the employees and general laziness (ex: many pizza places claim if they drop a chicken wing on the floor, they put it back. and that much of what they cook in is caked with grease and that the general atmosphere is dirty back there.) but one thing i question is complaining about missing something in the order or the quality of what was given to me. often times, if i recognize hostility or an argument ensuing with anyone i'm with and a worker there of any type (as i usually don't argue with them, but will mention if there's a mistake in the order) then i realize i can no longer order or eat from that specific restaurant or establishment. i lived in california for a portion of time, where they have the grades of each specific place that serves food of any type, new york, however, does not. basically, i'm wondering how often someone encounters something in their food (spit, anything placed there that shouldn't be, hair, whatever) or how often people really do this at restaurants to those who complain. i have friends that also refuse to ever complain about their meal due to this so i'm wondering if anyone has personal experience with this or unsanitary conditions.

My dad is coming to visit me in chicago, and I am a student there, so I know of some places to go for dinner, but most of the places I know are little mom and pop amazing quick eating kind of restaurants and he wants to take me out to a nice dinner, and due to my budget it's not necessarily like my friends and i are out exploring the local restaurants. We usually go to the Fireplace Inn, but I wanted to mix it up a little bit. What are some good places I could take him (that aren't chain restaurants) but that will be fun to take him to?I go to school in the city, so I would like recommendations for places to go to dinner in the specifically in the city, not the suburbs, please :)

You stay up for 16 hours
He stays up for days on end.
You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.
You complain of a 'headache', and call in sick.
He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
You make sure you're mobile phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
You talk trash about your 'buddies' that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume..
You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.

moreResolved Question: Why is Sonic™ considered a fast food restaurant instead of just a chain?
I mean, it takes forever, and they start cooking it once you order it. Just because it is a franchise doesn't mean it's fast food. It is a million times better than McYucky's.
moreVoting Question: What should I wear to job interview?
It's for Wiener Works, a small restaurant chain around here. I am going to an interview tomorrow at 9:30. I was going to wear neutral but bright make up, neat and tidy hair, but no clue on outfit. I have graphic tee's but not thinking that's the best option. I also have a plaid button up. Any ideas?
moreResolved Question: Why won't anyone hire me?
I'm sixteen, which is the legal working age locally. I have volunteered extensively, I have great marks, and I'm a friendly, personable girl. I started to apply for summer jobs in early June, and I applied at every place that seemed reasonable (restaurants, fast food chains & grocery stores that I could walk/bike to). I handed out a resume (reviewed by many people), filled in applications, and made phone calls so people would know that I was truly interested in getting some job experience. I have none.
Over the course of the summer, I've been getting countless text-messages, emails and phone calls from friends, telling me that they've been recently hired -- at places I'd applied well before they had. Most people have less experience than I do, because our community has so little opportunity to volunteer or work before you're 16.
I don't understand! The only difference between us is that I'm of African descent (black) and my friends are all Asian and Caucasian, but I honestly don't think it's a racial bias. Can anyone give me some tips on why I can't get hired, because I'm reaching my breaking point.I have to start earning money, and soon, in order to go on band trips. I would also like to start saving for college, so I can minimize student loans when it gets to that point. My parents can't afford it.

moreResolved Question: How much one dose in a day alter the history of the world?
How much one dose in a day alter the history of the world?
I did ask this question before and people were saying that it dose not effect the world that much, but what I was thinking if you take even the smallest thing you do in life it would have a domino effect on the world. Example- You go to a fast food restaurant you order your food and lets say it take 4 min of time to get your order that in itself is not that interesting but the person behind you would have been there first if you did not show up and the people behind the counter would not have had to make your order so that is 4 min of time that something totally different happen so everything from that 4 min time frame would alter every event from then on. Example- Lets say you put in your order and they had a new guy working and made your sandwich wrong he has to be shown how to make a new sandwich and then gets a little chewed out by the boss, but if you did not show up nothing would have happened like that in that same order. I hope you all get what I am trying to go after. I am just thinking everything we do in life is like a chain reaction it is like throwing a rock in a pond and watching the ripples.

Here's a link... http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=21950702&.msg=BQcCAAAAAQQDAAAAAgoLU2V0IHVwZGF0ZWQAAAAHY29udGVudAoDbXNnAAAABHR5cGU
I think I'm going with the long sleeved black tee over regular boot-cut jeans, with the peace sign belt over the tee (mine has leather stitches [for lack of a better word] all around the edges), brown socks, and either the plain black ankle boots or these brown sort of western pumps I own. (Mine have a fake alligator/crocodile/snake looking toe part, a western looking buckle on the right side instead of the tassel, and lower heels). Also a dark copper chain necklace with big brown and amber beads hanging down, either dark copper or transparent brown earrings, brown beaded bracelet, and a straw cowboy hat. Oh and a dark copper colored purse.
My fiance is wearing a rust colored henley, dark jeans, a matching hemp necklace of some kind, closed toe sandals, and short socks.
What do you think? Too much? Not enough? Which shoes and earrings? Thanks. Think I will leave off the bracelet and hat, and tone down the necklace.
moreResolved Question: Wrongfully fired for someone else's mistake.?
What can I do to help daughter? She worked at a place they make pizza's (part of a store chain) and a customer asked to use the restroom, so she let him, just like her boss has done many, many times before. Unbeknownst to her there was a dead mouse in an spring-loaded mousetrap in the restroom. He turned them in to the health department which they came out and told them to get an exterminator. They fired her through a text message. Isn't it the managers fault for useing a spring-loaded trap? (which is prohibited in a restaurant) shouldn't the manager get into trouble? Where can my daughter go to get help on this matter. She never had any write-ups or got in trouble and there is no signs or not written anywhere where an employee can not let a customer use the restroom
moreResolved Question: Where would you recommend (or not recommend) moving in New Mexico or Arizona?
I am from a small town in Illinois and go to college (20,000 students) in a somewhat larger town. I want to move out west and have driven from here to California before so I know I love the weather; I just need help choosing a town.
I would love to hear about your experiences with different cities in New Mexico and Arizona even if you just visited. I've included questions I ask myself when looking at potential cities -- I just want to hear your general opinion of them so don't worry about the the list if you don't want to!
- How large is the city in size/population
- How large does the city feel?
- Is it overridden with chain restaurants and stores?
- Is there anything that makes it unique?
- What kind of activities are there to do (parks, shopping, pools, etc.)
- What kind of night life is there?
- What are the people like?
- What is the cost of living?
- Is there job growth? (I am going into social services)
- What are the taxes like?
- Is there a low level of crime?
I am looking forward to everyone's input and beginning my search- thanks!
