Resolved Question: Could a sudden sodium overload cause a heart attack?

There you are sitting at Outback Steakhouse. You're so hungry you even order the Bloomin' Onion which is a heart-attack-waiting-to-happen by itself and you eat it all. Everything you order is already packed with sodium but you have to have more taste so you proceed to thoroughly dust your food with salt.Is it the fat or the sodium which will do you in first? more

Resolved Question: What was wrong with my Prime Rib at Outback Steakhouse?

Let me start by saying I'm somewhat new to Prime Rib but have had it 3 times previous to Outback, and at 2 different places. All previous experiences were good but this was awful. I ordered my prime rib at all 3 places MEDIUM First of all the Prime Rib came to me basically white/grey in the whole middle with some red/pink around the edges (which in my previous experiences was the darker part) I wasn't one to judge a book on its cover though and decided to give it a shot. The meat was very dry, chewy, and tasted almost like tuna if anything at all. I also noticed upon cutting that the inside was also completely white/grey. No blood, no juices at all. Just dry crap. I've never actually sent an item that I ordered from somewhere back (unless it was the wrong food altogether) but I had to with this. Any ideas what the issue was? It almost seems like it was TOO well done but its weird that the edges were more red than the other places I've had prime rib (because it was my belief that the edges were supposed to be cooked more than the inside.)FYI, I only had a bite and then had them just get me a burger instead. They didn't charge me for the prime rib or the burger so they were very nice about the whole thing. So it's not so much a complaint about outback overall, but just was trying to verify what the issue could have been. more

Resolved Question: what should I do for my sweet 16th birthday?

It's coming up soon in a few weeks during this month, and I'm wondering what exactly I should do. I'd like it to be special, I know that, something way better than all my other past birthdays. But, I'm not sure if I should do a party? Sleepover? Or just stay with my family-just a mom and 2 dogs. I don't have that many friends, just two, quite honestly who are my besties. And, considering I live in a really small house kinda small to be throwing a party and am kinda tight with money both my mom and me, giving any kind of a party sounds out of the question. Also, only my family knows I'm really turning 16 giving that I failed a grade in fourth grade. I'm too embarrassed to tell anybody even my friends that I'm a year older than them. Despite that, do you think a kinda close get-together with my friends for the day would be okay??? I'll have my mom take my two friends and me out somewhere for lunch or dinner. (idk where maybe a sushi buffet, outback steakhouse, or macaroni grill if money isn't TOO tight) Or would it be better to just order a pizza and then go out to the movies??? It would be a sleepover so yeah. Also what would be something fun other than the movies to do for a sweet 16 birthday??? I'm really new to all these birthday party/sleepover ideas so some help would be most appreciated:) I only turn 16 once so this is REALLY important to me!!!!!!Kendra: Oh my gosh I would love to! Wow...I never expected for someone to actually catch that. Than you so much for wanting to get to know me more. I would love to get to know the other half of my family! P.S: I couldn't find any email or IM address of yours on your profile so this was the best I could do letting you know of my response. Hope you get this soon and we can talk more! more

Resolved Question: How much should I tip the curb-side delivery employee at Outback Steakhouse? 10%, 15% or nothing?

I am placing a curb-side take away order ONLINE at the Outback.com website. I have entered all my food order, totalling $30 ($27 for food and 3$ for sales tax). The order includes an entree of 2 grilled lobster tails, a house side-salad, a cup of soup, a large drink, and plastic silverware. I will pay with a Visa credit card and a discount coupon of $10 off (an offer from Visa). How much should I tip: $2, $3 or more? I know that I MUST TIP for this service, but just don't know the right amount. Remember that I placed the order online and entered all information completely by myself. I will pick up the food in my car and not dine in at the restaurant. The employee only needs to put the items in the bag, bring it to the curb and process the payment. I don't want to give a generous tip, but I want to give the RIGHT AMOUNT. And I also understand that the tip is based on a percentage of the total order (before discount coupon applied). I just do not think that the employee should earn 15%-20% tip because (s)he does not take my order and does not serve me at the table. Please share your opinion. Thank you.@ Whitney: Your answer was funny. I gave you a thumb up. I guess you are a generous diner :) more

Voting Question: Someone at work stole my money, what can I do (if anything)?

So yesterday after school (I get out at 2:20), I went home, showered, and decided to go to Lakeside Mall. I needed to buy pants for work, since it's getting rather chilly. I got all my money together because I had a hair appointment today and it was costing me about $100. So I had around $150 on me. I went to Forever21 and spent $25 on pants. Then I headed over to work (I work at Outback Steakhouse). I had my school books and everything with me because I didn't start til 6 (I got to Outback around four). I ordered cheese fries from the bar. I was eating them while I was doing homework. I asked the bartender how much they were, and I went and pulled out $7 from my wallet thingy (it's got my keys and stuff on it too). I put my wallet back in my schoolbag. The only person who was in there at the time was the silverware roller. I paid the bartender and continued doing homework. Six rolled by, so I packed all my stuff up and clocked on. I did leave my stuff out there, schoolbag and all, but it's nothing I've never done before. I left around 10:40 that night. I went home, did more homework, and went to bed. Well this morning when I got to school, I didn't remember how much money I'd have left after getting my hair done. I pull my wallet out, only to discover that all of my money is gone. I don't know what to do. I started crying and called my mother. She says I may have left it at home, but the last time I remember ever taking my money out was when I paid the bartender. The silverware roller does drugs and stuff. This person is only 16 years old but has tons of tattoos and stuff like that. I have reason to believe it may have been this person because they told me how they steal things and stuff. I don't know what to do. I'm going to tell my manager after a thorough search of my house. But even if I do tell him, what is it that he can do? I have no money to my name now. I've been saving up for two months to get my hair done, plus some of that money was going towards my trip to Europe which is costing me $3300. I have to pay $362 monthly. Granted, the would-be remaining $25 isn't much compared to $362, but it's a small start towards it. I'm nice to everyone at work. I'm pretty sure nobody has a grudge towards me. I'm like, the happiest person there. I try to brighten up everyone's day. I don't know why someone would steal from me. I don't know what to do. I'm sitting in Pre-Calc trying to figure out SOMETHING I can do about it. Any advice?Oh, the reason I took all of my money and put it in my wallet yesterday was because I knew I'd forget to do so today, which I did. I didn't think about it until I got to school, which by then it was too late, because all of it was missing.Yeah, I didn't plan on telling anyone but my boss. The ONE time I don't keep it on me, my money gets stolen. This week couldn't get any worse. more

Resolved Question: What do you look for in a waiter?

I always look for a waiter who's polite, curtious, and on track. Last time when i went to outback steakhouse for my girlfriend's bday, the waiter was kinda snotty, and took way, way, way too much time with the food. It was as if it took 45 min for her to come with the food when it was just me and my wifey ordering the same food(steak and shrimp) more

About how much would it cost for two people to eat there? I want to take my boyfriend there, we usually order the chicken strip dinner and the cheese fries appetizer. Resolved Question: Is it normal to experience this right after a movie?

Often, I develop a craving a certain nationality of food or females after watching a movie. For example, after seeing Once Upon A Time in Mexico, I was hungry for Mexican food and had a thing for Hispanic women. The Godfather movies gave me a craving for Italian food. Last year during the Beijing Olympics, I kept ordering Chinese food. I wanted a nice Russian female from all the Eastern European eye candy during those events. I did a lot of research on Chinese culture and read all my National Geographic articles about China. Today I watched Rabbit Proof Fence (which is set in the Australian Outback.) That movie prompted me to eat at Outback Steakhouse and made me horny for Australian chicks. Is it normal to experience these tendencies after watching a film?I can't say gay movies like Brokeback Mountain or Milk make me want to be with gay guys. However, Milk did make me want to travel to San Francisco. Brokeback Mountain made me want to venture to Montana. Most vampire movies make me wish I was one. I always thought it would be cool to be a vampire.I don't go after shemales. Trust me! I'm straight. I don't believe people choose to be gay. I think they are born that way. I was born heterosexual. If I saw White Chicks, though, I might be attracted to the females in that movie. Meanwhile, not every film does that to me, but a lot of them do. more

Resolved Question: Fatty filet mignon at Outback Steakhouse...?

i ate at Outback last night, and after the appetizer, bread, and soup, i couldn't manage to stuff myself with my scrumptious-looking filet mignon that i ordered, so i had the waiter box it up so i could take it home. i opened the box today for lunch, heated the meat in the oven, cut into it, and omg. it was surely the fattiest filet mignon i've ever seen. it was marbled for goodness sakes. i'm not trying to sound picky, but i paid the extra money for a steak with less fat, and i expect to get what i pay for. i think this was some impersonating meat. it couldnt have been a filet. i hope outback isn't charging filet price for thick ribeye cuts, but i'm afraid that, by the looks of this meat, that may be what they're doing. has anyone else had this problem at Outback, or any other restaurant for that matter? more

Voting Question: How do I find motivation to not be as static as I have been?

For too long i have spent beautiful summer days inside on the computer trying to become the best player on the servers, but have been doing horrible. my parents think Im addicted to computer games, but i think im either depressed or just having the wrong outlook. i just want that energy i once had when i used to swim, eat more than 2 meals a day and live. i just feel like my brain is a mash. also i have recently quit pot (smoked daily), and stopped using adderall , since then i don't really have anyone to hang out with everyday or any friends to turn to. i feel like ive done the wrong thing, because when i was smoking i was at least eating and hanging out. i also recently got fired from my job that ive kept for a year, and that i really liked(at outback steakhouse). i just don't get it, i have a great metabolism, Im in a great academic program now that i just got into (and why i've stopped smoking), have a great family. also i over sleep on days i don't have to be in class, some days this is until 4PM! please help me i wanna get my life in order, Im sure i was not the only one at this situation thank you more

Resolved Question: Will Outback Steakhouse let you order off the kids menu if you're over 10?

I usually get a burger at Outback but the one from the regular menu is huge. I'd like to get the smaller one from the kids menu, but it says it's for kids under 10. I'm 17 but I look young for my age, about 12 or 13. I do order off the kids menu at places that say ages 12 and under since I look young enough, but I don't think I can pass for a kid under 10! lol. So do you think I'd be allowed if I asked them? Has anyone else tried to order from their kids menu? more

Resolved Question: Worst service you've ever gotten at a restaurant?

What was your worst experience at a restaurant? When I went to Hawaii, I went to the outback steakhouse and I ordered some fettuccine alfredo, it said it came with shrimp and crawfish so i specifically told them i didn't want any on my alfredo, and she repeated it back to me 'alfredo. no shrimp, no crawfish' and wrote it down. she comes back with my food, and there was SO MUCH shrimp and crawfish on it. i couldn't even eat it, it had a hint of sea food on it after i picked all of it off. i know mine isn't that bad, but i wanna hear some good ones x] how about you?  more

Resolved Question: Is it safe for someone with Asperger's Syndrome to be a cook?

I am a senior going to Texas State University in San Marcos. I have a mild form of autism known as Asperger's Disorder. Many of you may not have ever heard of it because it didn't make its way out into the medical field until 1994. Anyway, I've had to bite the bullet and do lots of lousy jobs in order to support myself while I'm going to school. I just got a job offer as a dishwasher/bus boy at an Italian restaurant and another job offer as a cook at Outback Steakhouse. I think it would be in my best interest to learn how to cook, but I'm having second thoughts about that job. I'm wondering if it'll be a death trap for me just like working as a cashier. Resolved Question: How is the chicken fried steak at Outback Steakhouse?

Eating out is a special occasion around here. Is the chicken fried/country fried (CFS) a "real" steak? Say, comparable to Chili's? I hate ordering CFS only to get a TV dinner style steak. I like a nice steak with a thick crunch crust on it--not some barely battered, nearly-steak faker wanna be. If you've tried it and advise against it....what chain restaurant offers a nice chicken fried steak? We're Texans, though cheap, but quality counts on CFS. (No place is like my mom's I should just give my mom $12.49 to make me one! HA HA)we don't really have any truck stops around here; I do agree fully about truck stop food, though! Chain restaurants are EVERYWHERE so I thought it might be easier to get an answer here based on a chain more

Resolved Question: Would you agree this is a funny commercial?

It's for Outback Steakhouse. A guy (who has an Australian accent) orders a steak. Guy: Can I have candles on my steak? Waitress: Why, is it your birthday? Guy: No, I just like candles. (dead silence) I know the guy in that commercial, his name is Jemaine and he's as funny in person as he is on the commercials! So, do you think that is funny at all? more

Resolved Question: Outback Steakhouse?

Has anyone noticed that Outback is cutting corners as of late in order to regain some profits? The wine is now served in a mini size carafe and then to be poured into a larger wine glass giving you about 1/2 a glass of wine. The BBQ ribs have 2 less bones in a full rack. Anything that does not have a posted weight like pork chops and chicken are now cut smaller. I can say the prices have not gone down but almost everything else has including the crowds. more

Resolved Question: Pushing specials?

I work at Outback Steakhouse and over the past few months they've started having seasonal specials that we have to sell. I say HAVE to because all the managers push us really hard to get our customers to order them. It's to the point of being ridiculous. If you don't sell as at least as many as they have set for the day, you have to do extra sidework at the end of the night. They are even basing schedules and sections on how many of these stupid things you can cram down their throat. I personally hate going out when it seems like a server is trying to push me to order something. I like to let my tables decide want they want, while I usually make suggestions about add-ons or if they are deciding on liquor, I usually up-sell there. I just can't force people to buy into all this propaganda. It's to the point now I hate going to work because of all the extra work I end up doing bc I don't cram specials down people's throats. Outback used to be such a fun place to work too...I do talk about them at my first visit to the table and people usually seem pretty interested at the beginning. But between getting drinks and appetizers to the table, they change their minds and end up ordering something else. Is there a better way at going about this so I can at least keep getting a decent schedule but still not seem like I'm trying to push people to buy something they really don't want? more

Resolved Question: Curbside take-away tipping?

I was completely appauled at a question I just read here. A person asked about tipping somebody who brings the food to your car from Outback Steakhouse. I must begin by stating that I am an Outback employee. When you come inside the restaurant to eat generally most people leave their server a decent tip. 15% usally for decent service, more if your service was great. Now what makes anybody think curbside take-away deserves any less? They take your order just as your server does. The only difference is you can't point to items on the menu. Over the phone is much more difficult when taking orders. Especially when you have somebody on the other end with a heavy accent. Next they wait in the kitchen collecting the food as it is distributed out the window. They package everything as it does NOT come out already packaged. They put together all your dressings/sauces/butters ect. They brave all types weather bringing your food to your car. Yet for some reason people sometimes choose not to tipBefore any ignorant person responds with a comment about them receiving more hourly, let me explain they are given very few hours usally and any tips (which sadly is not much) they must split between all the take-away workers. There is sometimes up to 5 people working take-away at a time. I just wish people would give these workers the proper tips they so greatly deserve. Have you ever thought about the work that goes into preparing your take-away meal.I find it VERY sad the way certain think. Not everyone could be a rocket scientist & some of us average people actually DO have to rely on close minded ignorant people tipping us. I challenge ANY of you people who don't truly know all that goes into working curbside take-out to try it for JUST ONE DAY!!!!! I GUARANTEE you will think differently.....even if you don't want to admit it!!! more
