One of my neighbors has a late 90s subaru outback impreza sport (a very small wagon) that he might sell, and i am turning 16 soon so i was thinking about maybe asking my dad about it as an option. i am not sure about the engine size of the car, but i am pretty sure it is a 5 speed stick. Hey all, i went down to a place called pete's tire barn to get my tires aligned, the guy said i needed a right rear wheel bearing before i could have the alignment done.

Thanks a lot!Well the place that old me it was off werent the ones that could fix it anyways, so i doubt they lied to me for that reason, and the garage that i always take it to, my buddy from highschool works there and his dad owns it, passed my car today and took a look at the bearing, said it definitely needs to be replaced and makes a low humming noise when i drive, which is what i heard from the day i bought the car. I called a subaru specialist and they are going to fix it for me, 250 parts and labor, and my buddy quotes me 300+ parts and labor, which is most likely because they arent familiar with doing them. I have had it being ripped off by big brands, that all they want to do is make money.
A couple of months ago I moved to Australia from the UK and have been driving in the Outback (Basicly dirt track conditions). Its very treacherous with many places to get bogged or steep hills or branches and bushes to drive through.
My first car I brought was the Range Rover Sport which I saw alot of people in England driving. Was a fair bit of cash but it was complete and utter rubbish. Its just a luxury car. It can't even handle a bit of rough ground. 2 weeks into driving in the outback the car was dented in many places the engine kept over heating in the 55 degree heat and the tires kept getting a puncture. Worst of all the headlights were a sham, Could hardly see a couple of metres in front. The car also got bogged a few times as the engine was weak.
Then I decided to get the new Land Rover which I saw people driving the England Which is basicly also just a luxury 4WD. I'm not even going to bother going into all the problems I had with this one but to cut it to the shortest words possible, the engine lacked some serious power. The amount of times the wheels got bogged in the sand was crazy and the engine just didn't want to work HARD.
Land Rover/Range Rover is an absolute sham, There not designed for driving off road at all there just a fashion statement for the rich people who think having a bigger car on the road makes them the boss.
Enough of me complaining. I have spent over £150 and 2 brand new 4WD which are now both a wreck and I am getting pretty annoyed as my times getting wasted.
I need some suggestions for a serious of road car thats designed for the outback and not for a fashion statement.
My budget is max £100k but I would prefer not to pay that much, if its a bit over but good then suggest it anyway.

But when it comes down to it, you really don't find too many real men outside the USA, Europe practically has none ---at this point they are all Tofu munching, pacifist, socialists who depend on America to fight for them.

I've been looking around at cars, and thinking I like the Subaru impreza. However, I dislike the sedan style, and would like to get a hatchback, both for the aesthetics and for the extra cargo space. I see that it is an option for ~$500 to choose the hatchback version rather than the sedan version of the Impreza. I also see there is a Subaru Impreza Outback Sport, which is significantly more expensive. Is there any real difference there besides the name?
Also curious about:
1.) How long do Impreza's run? Do they hold up the longevity of the Outback or variuos Toyota's? (200,000 miles ++)
2.) How does the Impreza compare to the Forester. Is one particularly better than the other?

I had a rough night and ran over something that gave me two passenger side flat tires and bent rims. This is in 04 impreza outback sport. I put my spare on the front tire, and then my cousin came in 09 forester and I put his spare on the back. I think his spare may be bigger. I also neglected to disable AWD. I drove like this for two miles at 25 mph. Did I fry my differential? Will I fry it tomorrow when I drive to the tire store 10 miles away?

I'll do my best to describe this problem. I have a stick shift. This problem occurs usually when I slow down for a turn or a stop sign and then hit the gas to keep going. For example 2nd gear less than 2000 rpm's. Suddenly the car seems to have trouble accelerating, almost like a chugging feeling. If I gear down or just keep going and get my rpm's up it goes away and the car runs fine. This does not happen if the car is not in gear. It has caused me to give excessive accelerator in situations where the rpm's would be low to avoid the problem. I'm trying to figure out if this is clutch, transmission, engine??? I don't think it's engine just because it only happens if the car is in gear. I would love to clarify more if your unsure what I mean.No error lights. 170,000 Miles. I'm getting the timing belt changed next week. I'll try some fuel injector cleaner, however I did use some within the last year.

It had a new gas tank and brakes put in 25k ago, but I'm still wary of the high kms on it. I will need it to run good for about 2 or 3 years for me, so... is this a good deal? We've lived in our house for 2 years now and our neighbors have an 11 year old son who is into sports. The fence between our houses is only about 4 feet so whenever he and his father play outback they end up throwing their stuff into our yard. Last year they asked to retrieve it and I had to run out back and get their stuff. Well after a while, I got tired of this because it was 3-5 times a week. When I stopped answering the door, I realized that they must have been retrieving their stuff on their own. Well today I saw the boy and his father playing soccer and witnessed them jumping our fence to get the ball and the father was the one telling him to do so. I don't want to be bothered with these people, but I'm offended that they're just jumping into my yard. I want to talk to them about it, but I'm tired of retrieving their stuff and I don't want them doing it themselves. If it were up to me I'd just keep their stuff since they're extremely loud and obnoxious people and I'm not their maid. How would you approach this?

I have a 2009 Impreza Outback Sport and I have been using a bike rack that straps on to the back end. Problem is it holds the bikes too close to the car so if you go over a bump it once caused on of my peddles to scratch the paint of the car... (700 to fix) I know absolutely nothing about racks but does anyone know how you get a hitch on the bottom of the car so its held out a bit? Is that even possible? To be more specific a used subaru impreza outback sport anywhere from 97 and up.
The problem is, I've been reading up on subaru's and it seems there's a consistent problem with their head gaskets going bad, and as much I've looked it up I can't figure out where the outback sport falls in what engine(s) fall under which head gasket problem. I know there's an issue with the 2.5l engines, but the 97 to 2001 have 2.1l engines, and I don't know if they the head gasket issue. From 2002 on, the Impreza outback sport has a 2.5l engine and I have no idea what category that falls into and if they even have a head gasket problem.
Also, if there's any other problems in general that subaru's face, or the outback sport in general, I'd appreciate anyone shedding some light on the topic.
Another thing, is there any difference between an Impreza wagon and the Impreza outback sport? because I haven't seen any distinction between the two.

It seems to be most prominent when accelerating or turning. It sounds like it's coming from inside the front driver-side wheel. Axle trouble perhaps? It's a 2002 Subaru Outback Sport - all wheel drive.

Right now I drive an '89 Chevy Blazer S-10, and I only love it because it's great in the snow and for winters in the PNW, but it's going to give out pretty soon. I need something that gets good gas milage and that can handle a lot of snow. I also drive back and forth to home once or twice a month (2 hours each way), and need to know that it'll make it.
Seeing as I can't afford to buy new, I was looking at a 2000 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport, I just like the way it looks and people tell me that it's a dependable car, as well as good on gas and in my price range.
