I currently own a flooring business in Minnesota, I am planning a move to Colorado in the near future. My brother/business partner is going to still operate in Minnesota, and I am going to start a new business in Colorado offering the same services. We want to also get some web presence in other cities around the country, and then use subcontractors that are local to that particular area to complete the work. I think this can work, because we have experience in the services we provide, so we can find quality sub contractors, and we have a pretty good knowledge of websites and optimization. So we will only choose cities that we know we can dominate on the web. My question is; would I need multiple businesses to do this in each area? Or can we operate out of one central place. Today I got a call from a gentleman saying his business, about 30 miles away, is called Graham Photo / Video. I prefer not to mention the company but I had some trouble connecting my netbook to my TV and trying to set a custom resolution, what ticked me off though was that it took 30 minutes to explain the problemn and when I got done I got interrogated as to why I would not buy the $40 optimization software for my notbook, I explained to the guy that I was broke and that I could not afford it untill pay day and to send me a link so that way I could buy it later if I wanted to. When I got to the manager I told them about the experience and I think I may have went overboard when I stated that the customer service was poor and that "I am not a fan of outsourced call centers" when the manager himself was probably worked at the same place. So I just got screwed over by Qwest Internet Service for the second time. Basically due to overbilling, I signed up at a promotional rate and they refused to honor it, charging full price, and in the beginning even double billing. There customer service is horrible, after many phone calls employees and supervisors have a no care attitude. They basically all have an attitude of "It doesn't matter if there is a mistake or not, my computer can't change it". It took me filing a Better Business Bureau complaint, Attourney General Compalint, and FTC complaint, before they resolved it. (and even though they had fixed it, they offered no sort of apology at all for the mistake, or any compensation for my time) However once again I am all of a sudden being overcharged once more, and customer service is the worst I've dealt with. They have no record at all of their previous screw up, and after multiple phone calls refused to resolve it. They have the same "no way to change it, even if it is a mistake" attitude. So right now I have once again filed a Better Business Bureau complaint, Attourney General Compalint, and FTC complaint. However I do not like big companies screwing over consumers. I want to be prepared to give this company as much bad publicity as possible if I find it necessary. Now I have considered writing online reviews, but there are so many thousands of reviews (including many other bad ones), all over the web, that I feel like mine wouldn't have much impact. I've also considered contacting the TV news, and Newspapers, but I just don't think they would consider one customer being overbilled as newsworthy. Here are some other ideas I've had, that I'm wondering if they would be good, and also legal, to do. I don't want to risk getting in any legal trouble for slander or something similar, but its not slander if its 100% true right? 1. Printing my story on a piece of paper, with a nice big headline as an eyegrabber about Qwest screwing over customers with poor customer service. Although it could be anonymous, I do not want it to be, I want to include my name so that qwest realizes who did this, so they can see that screwing over just one customer can have a big impact. 2. Making a big, easy to read sign or bumper sticker for my car that says something like "Honk, if you've been screwed by Qwest also". 3. Similar to #2, Making a big sign that says something like "I've been screwed by Qwest multiple times, have you?", or "Don't use Qwest, unless you like getting screwed like I did". And standing at a busy intersection (Maybe even somewhere near their office), whenever I have a bit of spare time. This is free speech right, and not slander, since I actually have been screwed over right? 4. This is my last choice, due to the time and money, and studying involved, I really probably don't want to do it, but still something I'd consider. Making a dedicated qwest sucks website where I could try to pool as many bad reviews as possible onto it, and make it open for people to post their own bad experiences. I'd do some studying on serach engine optimization to try to get the qwest sucks site as high as possible on the google results. 5. Perhaps there are other even better ideas out there? I don't have a huge amount of time to invest, but I do want to dedicate some. Honestly my time is worth even more that what I've been overcharged, however this isn't just about the money for me, its about principals, and I'm willing to fight for that. So I just finished setting up my desktop which I use for gaming and I know my hardware stuff but software im still learning. I used this guide http://208.109.175.73/Windows_XP_Game_Optimization_Tips.htm to make my pc run "faster" PC is running xp home. First of all I changed my page file to my 2nd 500gb hdd to 4096mb. To me this doesn't seem related to the problems I am having but just take it into note and also that I now only have 1 page file on my 2nd harddrive and the page file is 4096 -4096mb like it says to do in the guide. Now the problem is I turned off the services he says to turn off in the guide (some already not being on thou too) and now things like my veoh compass isn't working and im timing out loading sites like adobe.com I put them back and its STILL doing it. I tried to remember which ones exactly I changed and I think its back to normal but yea still having some problems but my question is could what I have changed even do this? My laptop was having trouble with somethings to but my parents desktop on the same connection is fine (shrug) so do you think they caused the problems (or maybe is it just me and some sites are down :S) or do they actually help out and I should turn them off again. Also my desktop is on a hardline to my telus modem/router which is DSL (DO NO PAY FOR INTERNET I CANNOT CHANGE THAT ITS DSL) Please help me out.
