•William Ayers—Now a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Ayers spent 10 years as a fugitive in the 1970s when he was part of the domestic terrorist organization known as the Weather Underground. Coincidentally, on Sept. 11, 2001, Ayers was being interviewed about a book he had written and he told the interviewer he didn’t think the Weather Underground had done enough. Ayers and Obama first crossed paths in Chicago in the 1990s and served together on the board of the not-for-profit Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a boondoggle to spend tens of millions of dollars for their pet “education” projects. Obama downplayed his friendship with Ayers as casual, but evidence indicates their relationship was much more. Many now believe that Ayers penned Obama’s “autobiography” Dreams from My Father. •Carol Browner—Obama’s Director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, Browner is an avowed socialist. She served as one of 14 leaders of Socialist International’s Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for global governance and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change, according to an article in The Washington Times. The group supports socialism and has been harshly critical of U.S. policies. She is also a supporter of smart growth policies, as we have described previously. Browner also served on the board of Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection, though her name was scrubbed from the site after Obama tapped her for the director’s position. Not surprisingly, Obama’s transition team told The Times Browner’s membership in a socialist organization was not a problem. •Frank Marshall Davis—You won’t find Davis’ name on an organizational chart of White House staff, but he was instrumental in forming the political philosophy of Barack Hussein Obama. Called “Uncle Frank” in Dreams from My Father, Davis was a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA), according to a 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii. Obama has admitted to spending time with Uncle Frank—who he cryptically describes as being a person of some modest notoriety at one time—and listening to his poetry and getting career path advice. Davis may also have been a pedophile. Writing under the pseudonym Bob Greene, Davis wrote a debased pornographic novel entitled, Sex Rebel: Black (Memiors of a Gash Gourmet), in which he describes group sex encounters and sex he and his wife had with a 13-year-old girl named Anne. Davis died in 1987. •Anita Dunn—As White House Communications advisor, Dunn has been seen a lot lately as the face of the Obama administration’s strategy to try and discredit Fox News. She is described on Politico.com as a veteran Democratic strategist and top advisor on Obama’s presidential campaign. As the war between the Obama White House (see more under Rham Emmanual) and Fox has escalated, videotape has surfaced showing Dunn gloating over how the campaign “controlled” the media. Another videotape surfaced showing Dunn speaking at a June high school graduation ceremony where she praised Marxist/Communist Chinese Premiere Mao Zedong as one of her favorite philosophers and one of the two people she turns to most. It’s difficult to understand how Mao had time to philosophize as he was busy killing somewhere between 50 million and 70 million of his country’s citizens during his 27-year reign of terror. •Ezekiel Emanuel—The president’s Special Advisor for Health Policy, Ezekiel is brother to White House Chief of Staff Rham Emanuel. Ezekiel is the source of Sarah Palin’s death panel idea. This Emanuel has written that he believes many healthcare treatments should be denied to those under 15 and over 65 to save money, the rationale being that only people between 15 and 65 are beneficial to society. •Rahm Emanuel—Obama’s White House Chief of Staff, Emanuel is a thug Chicago politician who once sent a two-and-a-half foot long, dead and decomposing fish to lobbyist Allen Secrest to express his displeasure. He’s known for his full-time use of gutter language and once told then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair just before an appearance with Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal: “This is important. Flexing his influence, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) President Andy Stern turned up at the White House 22 times in the first six months of the Obama administration, more than anyone else on the visitor logs released last month. But the good vibes in Washington contrast with the troubles inside the house of labor itself. Unions are competing for shrinking turf and members, and the most ferocious intramural battle today involves Mr. Stern's union here in California. For the past 10 months, the SEIU has fought to hold on to 150,000 members in its Union of Healthcare Workers affiliate, or UHW. The challenge comes from a group of former UHW leaders and Stern confidantes. Pushed out by Mr. Stern after a prolonged power struggle, they started a rival outfit, the National Union of Healthcare Workers, or NUHW, in January and immediately moved to build it up by wooing away members from the SEIU's local, UHW. Now these upstarts charge that the UHW threatened workers with deportation and tampered with secret ballots to narrowly win a pivotal election last summer in Fresno, Calif. The NUHW allegations, contained in a complaint filed last Friday and previously not made public, take the battle to a new level. The June vote was in a "decertification" election—in which some 10,000 home-care workers were asked to choose between the UHW that already represented them or the NUHW. Old labor hands say they've never seen a decertification vote like this. The SEIU shipped in 950 or so staff and spent an estimated $10 million on mailings, advertising, phone banks, door-to-door canvassing and the like. The NUHW doesn't have this kind of firepower. At a rally for staff in late May, David Regan, an SEIU executive vice president who took over the UHW in January, roared that, "We gotta give a butt-whipping they will never forget." When the secret ballots were mailed in and counted, the SEIU won that vote by a sliver, 2,938 to 2,705. The NUHW immediately called for a re-run of the election, challenging voting irregularities. The two unions have traded accusations since. But now, Carlos Martinez, an immigrant from El Salvador who was on the SEIU's staff during the campaign, has come forward—so he says—to blow the whistle on his employer. Mr. Martinez went door-to-door canvassing the home-care workers during the 15-day election. Like him, many of them are native Spanish speakers; some are illiterate. Speaking in an interview over a sandwich at a hotel in the Bay Area late last month, Mr. Martinez says he was instructed by superiors to tell the workers that if they voted against the SEIU, they could lose their medical benefits, see their green cards or citizenship revoked and possibly be deported. He says he and other staffers were also told to pressure voters to spoil ballots that had been filled out for the NUHW. In other instances he filled ballots out for them. I just flew home from an international flight and apon picking up my luggage in New York for customs inspections I noticed my brand new bag was ripped (the handles were torn down aprox 6 inches . In addition, this bag was marked as "handle with care, fragile" . It certainly was not handled with care. Since I was rushed to catch a flight (due to delta's delay.) I had to run across the airport to catch my connecting flight home after customs inspection I was told by Delta Airlines to file a claim when I got to Oakland CA airport. I attempted to do so , but my luggage never made it on my airplain. The lady at the counter said 1. She could not open a claim unless she saw the bag . 2. Delta does not cover handles (although it was ripped - not at the seam.) 3. She said and I quote " The bag was not leather and you should not expect items that are not leather to make it! " . She was incredibly rude and told me that once my bags are delivered (as they were not on the flight) I would need to drive them back to the airport for inspection. Meanwhile I have not even recieved my bags . I have my husbands meds in the suitcase, and my work clothes . How can Delta Justify not compensating me in any way ? I have to jump through hoops to 1. Get my doc to prescribe meds 2. I now have to pay for the bag to be repaired due to no fault of my own . 3. I do not have my work clothes and I will need to figure something out . What can I do ? Economy-Taxes should be based on a percentage of what you make, that way it is fair. State sales taxes should not be over 5%. Corporations should not be controlled by the government, but if they pose some kind of danger to the country they should be regulated. Environment-The government should support Electric cars by offering tax credits to companies that sell them. Also people who buy them should be recieve a tax credit. Solar power should replace the use of oil. Domestic production should continue middle eastern oil should not be used by the U.S. Wind power should be used in off shore wind farms. Immigration-English should become the national lanuage. Documents including drivers test should all be in english. Illegal immigrants should be prosecuted, they broke the law, and they should be deported. The U.S. should support legal immigration, but due to over population the number of new citizens should be resticted. Companies that employ illegals should be fined and or put out of bussiness. A wall should be constructed along the U.S. mexican border. The U.S. should support workers visa cards for people who want to work here. The U.S. should guide Mexico to help them improve their country, but should not do so with tax payer's money. Abortion-should be allowed, look at it this way. Do you want to pay with your taxes for someone's kid to go through hell living in child care without parents? and what if a girl was raped? This is not an easy answer, and I don't support the idea of it, but in reality I think it should be allowed, I support abortion. I also support stem cell research. Gay Marriage-I do not support, but if the majority of a state's population wants to allow it, then it should be allowed. Death Penalty-I support, but the evidence has to be there. Your taxes should not go to keeping murdurers and rapists alive. Crime-More Police and harsher laws. I do not believe in legalizing drugs. Medicinal use should be allowed though. Kids should be educated better in school through programs like d.a.r.e. More colleges should be built in high crime areas like L.A. Oakland, Detriot, to offer people a chance to escape from poverty. Welfare-I do not believe a large portion of taxes should go to welfare, people need to help themselves. I do believe in food stamps and out of work aid, but not welfare cadallics. Education-needs national standards and all schools need to have the same criteria in order to graduate high schools and colleges. If a student obtains a GPA above 3.5 their cost to attend any college of their choice (accepted to) should be waved. College should not be out of reach, anyone should be able to attend schools like harvard if they worked hard, despite what their parents make. Military-Afganistan should be kept under control due to the terror treat. Osama Bin Laden should be captured and prosecuted for his crimes. Diplomacy should always be used before military engagement. The United Nations should should step in on certain issues like the genocide in Darfur. Dipolmacy should be used towards North Korea, but if they go against international law they should be sanctioned. Gantonomo should not be shut down. They should recieve trials in court though. Social Security-should not be spent by the government it isn't their money to spend. Health Care-should be similar to Canada The Second Amendment-automatic weapons should be illegal, background checks should be required, Certain guns should not be owned. Should be regulated, but responsible people should be allowed to own a gun. Afirmative Action-should be abolished, there should be a colorblindness towards everyone. I've always been told to avoid West Oakland and East Oakland whenever possible because those are very dangerous neighborhoods. However, recently, I find that I might be able to save some money if I bike some of errands instead of using BART. Though, the route tends to go thru those areas. I'm located in Berkeley, and I've never biked further southeast than Jack London Square. If I keep on going east on 12th and then merge on San Leandro, along the BART tracks, will I be OK? I really need to know how does a Female Dogs Uterus gets to the point that it is coming out of her Vagina, we took to to a Vet and from across the room he never came any closer to her said w/out touching her that it was "a tumor" we will not be taking her back to that Vet. I just had my son 2 months ago. I live in Okinawa Japan & I want to fly back to California to visit my family so they can meet my son. I will be flying with Just me & Jack (my 2 mo. old son) I'm a little nervous about traveling with him. I will be taking 2 flights. One from Okinawa to Seattle & one from Seattle to Oakland. Hello everyone, I'm new here and just found this handy part of the forum. I'm looking to get into UCLA (for computer science) or Purdue (for professional flight). My career goal is to become a professional pilot. I'm a junior right now, so be aware that I'll probably be doing more things by next year. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm a white male from California. Here are my grades (as far as I remember) ------------------------------------------------ Freshman year: Semester 1: 3.9, Semester 2: 3.95 Sophomore year: Semester 2: 4.04, Semester 2: 4.04 Junior year: Semester 1: 4.42, Semester 2: Just started, will probably be similar At my school (which is a private catholic school in Oakland, California, by the way), you only get extra GPA points for junior/senior level Honors/AP courses. However, I can tell you that Freshman and Sophomore year I received all A-'s and A's, and Junior year (this semester only), I had one B+, with the rest being A-'s and A's. Out of seven possible core classes, I am taking 5 Honors/AP courses this year. My school does not do ranking. Standardized Testing ----------------------- I haven't really seriously taken an SAT or ACT yet (that's in a few months). I did take the SAT in 8th grade and the PSAT in 10th grade (also irrelevant). My main concern, however, is my PSAT scores, which I got back today. I only got a 190, which was a bit disappointing to me. My mom said that the ACT might be better for me, is this true? (I was 93rd percentile in the nation). In my opinion anything below a 200 isn't too hot. Hopefully I will improve when it comes time for the real tests. Extra-Curricular/Volunteering/Sports/Other stuff ------------------------------- - I hold a Private Pilot's License (flying out of Oakland International) - Design editor of both the school's newspaper and yearbook - Paid intern at a major science museum - Over 150 non-paid, volunteer hours at said science museum - CSF Member (inactive because I'm paid now) - NHS Member - Spent two weeks of my summer on a conservation/field research trip in Montana - Lead clarinetist in our school's highest band (have played since 4th grade) - Member of the Parliamentary Debate Team (one of the top ranked in our league) - Play on our school's golf team (also one of the top ranked in our league) - Will be doing 30-40 hours of service with the poor/marginalized this summer - Note that I'll probably do more between now and senior year I'm sure I could think of more but I have to go write an essay now. ------------------------------------------------ I'm more interested in my chances for UCLA because I'll most likely get into Purdue. Also note that I am a California resident (since UCLA is in California). According to the calendar of September 21 is International day of peace. A day of peace is a good idea for three reasons. First of all, International day means to me a day of peace because of the war. The war is bad because it’s with my country. My friend’s brother that I knew very well is in the war. We both miss him very much. I think there should be no war just peace. Second of all, my house has no peace. There’s always yelling. My mom yells at me to clean my room all the time. I fight about my brothers a lot about dumb things. I think there should me more peace in my home too. Third of all I think that there should be no more shootings. I have been to a number of International Airports. But never found ant comparable to Logan International in Boston. Entering into the customs area I was always greeted with. "Welcome to the United States of America and the city of Boston." Then everyone was told of all the people wearing blue blazers to help everyone at entry control and customs. What a great place. I always had wished every US airport greeted everyone that way. My worst experience was Oakland International in California returning from Viet Nam in 1967. What a disappointment. But away from the airport, a cab driver made up for it. He was Lebonese. We talked and he reached out and turned off the meter. Then he stopped and bought a 6 pack of Michelob. In 1980 I attented Oakland International Airline Academy. We were housed at South Shore Beach and Tennis Club in Alameda. i was very fortunate to meet several of the Raiders as they spent alot of time at the club, dinning and partying. My 18th birthday bash was thrown by Arthur and I had a blast. One of my friend (a Taiwanese) drove a car in California without driver's lisence and got caught by local police. Actually he has been there (Oakland) for a language course, half year ago, and his international driver's liscence was overdue when he got caught. I've noticed the previous European American majority gradually shrink to become a sizeable minority group here in California. Most "white" people are older. Most of the young people are darker. Yesterday, I was riding down International Blvd. in Oakland, playing "count the white people" since there were so few. I only counted 3. One previously African American section was now all immigrants (lots of meat markets) and the African American section has a zillion storefront churches.
