Resolved Question: Why do people try to equate the phrase Black power and the phrase White power?
From slavery to the Ku Klux Klan to the White supremacist power structure, White power has always meant to dominate other people and to force them to imitate White culture. It is about elitism, abusive violence, conquest, raping, and theft. Kwame Toure coined the phrase Black power to protest injustice against the Black community and as a rallying cry for Black empowerment. It means to define, develop, and defend what is in the interests of the Black community. Huey P. Newton went on to say that power is made up of 3 components (economic, military, and land). He believed that Black people would have the strength to resist if they had these things and pointed out that after slavery, Black people were robbed of their reparations after years of uncompensated labor and were thrown onto the streets and into prisons. Some had to work for their original enslavers either on the chain gang out of prison or as "free" people who were forced to work of plantations constantly where they were kept as slaves to a growing annual debt they could never pay. Their movements were restricted and Whites made laws limiting them. However, civilizations like Black Wall Street in Oklahoma and Rosewood and communities flourished, but were burned to the ground by Whites. Add New Orleans, Louisiana to this because a White president and governor refused to give the needs of those people any attention. Black organizations were formed to protect Black people from the systematized violence of White gangs like the KKK, White sheriffs, the Feds, and White power structures like banks, schools, businesses, media, armed forces, etc. This is why Black Power and White Power are fundamentally different.Black organizations never beat up Whites for the fun of it or lynched Whites or raped White women. They also did not bomb White churches. Their goal was protecting, liberating, and empowering Black people.I am glad we can have this talk. I agree that we need liberation, but an essential tool in our liberation struggle is power. We need to understand, innerstand, and overstand the value of power in our liberation struggle. Huey P. Newton said "arm yourself or harm yourself." The truth of the matter Ogun is that we have good ideals of liberty, but we can never secure or defend these ideals of independence without power. Our oppressor is not too keen on helping us to secure freedoms. Don't worry, I am not a reformer I am a revolutionary cultural nationalist to the cure and believe in the importance of securing a nation of our own. However, after we voice our ideals, what do we plan to do to liberate ourselves and secure that liberation?Thank you all for ur answers. moreResolved Question: Why are cops and judges in the south so soft on crime?
In Mississippi, I literally saw groups of teenagers "grinding" (selling drugs) only a few blocks from courthouses or police stations. In Atlanta, Mexican gangs are able to run a whole network of safehouses for their meth distribution systems. Child whores are openly pimped by people who do not fear the cops at all. In Birmingham, Alabama, there is a huge amount of grinding AND prostitution being openly done on well-known streetcorners. Louisiana has the highest murder rate of any state in America, and you can get away with murder there very easily. You can openly walk down the street in New Orleans or Baton Rouge selling drugs, with your illegally-carried firearm hanging off your pants, and the cops just let it happen. Why is the south, in general, so incredibly soft on crime? Why don't the police just swoop down and round up everyone who is "grinding" or carrying illegally or pimping children? Why is so much illegality allowed to go unpunished all across the south?Actually, Chicago's murder rate is much lower than many cities in the south like Birmingham or Jackson, and New Orleans is much higher than Detroit. moreResolved Question: Why do black people treat me different because Im light skinned and married to a white woman?
I am very light skinned. My eyes are hazel. But both of my parents are black. My family is Creole, from Louisiana. I grew up around all different races. I have dated all different races too. I used to get into a lot of fights when I was in school with black kids because I was too light. (some of them were not the darkest skinned people either) When I grew older I was often still teased because I'm so light. Also, Im not the most educated guy, but I know how to speak properly and am as comfortable talking to white people as I am the most hard core gang-banger. In other words, I've got some "street" in me too. I'm a pretty big guy at 6'4" and 240 pounds so many white people are also a little intimidated by me. I am married to a white woman who is as white as it gets, but if she had the same personality but happened to be black, I would have married her anyway. Why the hostility? moreResolved Question: Did you spend part of your Christmas thinking of poor Tookie Williams?
I hope you thought of this tremendous waste of life: Stanley Williams From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search This article is about Stanley Tookie Williams III. Born December 29, 1953(1953-12-29) New Orleans Louisiana, U.S. Died December 13, 2005 (aged 51) San Quentin Prison, California, U.S. Charge(s) Murder, robbery, firearms Penalty Death Penalty Status Executed Occupation Gangster/Children's author Spouse none Stanley Tookie Williams III (December 29, 1953 – December 13, 2005), born in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a convicted murderer and an early leader of the Crips, a notorious American street gang which had its roots in South Central Los Angeles in 1971. In December 2005 he was executed for the 1979 murders of Albert Owens, Yen-Yi Yang, Tsai-Shai Lin, and Yee-Chen Lin. While in prison, he was nominated for a Nobel prize for authoring books that were intended to help youth. Williams refused to aid police investigations with any information against his gang, and was implicated in attacks on guards and other inmates as well as multiple escape plots. In 1993, Williams began making changes in his behavior, and became an anti-gang activist while on Death Row in California. Although he continued to refuse to assist police in their gang investigations, he renounced his gang affiliation and apologized for the Crips' founding, while never admitting to the crimes for which he was convicted. He co-wrote children's books and participated in efforts intended to prevent youths from joining gangs.[1] A biographical TV-movie entitled Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story was made in 2004, and featured Jamie Foxx as Williams. On December 13, 2005, Williams was executed by lethal injection after clemency and a four-week stay of execution were both rejected by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, amidst debate over the death penalty and whether Williams' anti-gang advocacy in prison represented genuine atonement. Williams was the second inmate in California to be executed in 2005. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Williams moreResolved Question: Why are the fundamentalists being so racist about the floods in Iowa?
Rush Limbaugh (and a few others) have been spouting off about how the "hard working class Iowans" are handling their flood so much better than the New Orleans people. (It is implied that Iowans are white and New Orleanders are not...) They are reporting that "there are no gang-rapes in the street as a result of the flood in Iowa" (as if to imply that there were such things going on in Louisiana...) The Iowa floods haven't really even killed anyone... I talked to my parents in that area and everything is just fine... Do the people who listen to these shows really buy into this? Is there something I'm missing?sorry, I didn't mean any disrespect when I said "haven't killed anyone"... I should have said "far less than the number who died in New Orleans"... I didn't know that 23 people died. moreResolved Question: WHo do you fear more Moslems, central americans, or the Louisana evacuees?
I personally have no fear of moslems although I wouldn't want to be in a moslem country, in the US I don't have an issue with them. Howver the people that are here from Louisiana and central america that bring their gangs and violence to my city are alot more of a problem to me. My freedom hasn't been taken away by moslems and I live 1 block from a mosque, my freedon has been taken away by the hispanics and blacks. I can't walk down my street after dark because of them. Almost all murders in my city are committed by hispanics and blacks, never a moslem although they are often the victims of these thugs when they are shot and robbed at their stores and businesses.I didn't realize there were so many English teachers on here. Lighten up people, this is an informal forum and I have I have seen it spelled Moslem. I was married to a Moslem man so don't tell me it can't be spelled that way. And it was a hispanic who held a gun to me in my parking lot. moreWelcome to Louisiana Street Gangs News
