Then her cute little gap, going perfectly with her child-like features. She's wearing an odd shade of lipstick, orange. And her hair is a mess. It amazes me how she even manages to look so attractive anyway, especially while wearing lace stockings and an over-sized The Strokes shirt as a dress. If I was a boy – or into girls, at least - Genesis Thompson would be at the top of my list of 'most attractive girls'. "It was okay," I say. "Could've been better." I don't think she really cares about how my summer was at all, I think she was just trying to make conversation. So I keep my reply as simple and to the point as possible. "How was yours?" I then ask, because it's the polite thing to say. "So, so." And with that, our "conversation" is over. We aren't friends or anything, more like acquaintances. I woke up not being myself in the morning. Just barely the second day of school and I was already tired of it. Shutting the curtains, crawling back into bed, and then maybe reading for a while sounded like a plan. But I got ready and went to school without putting up a fight. I'm currently in English class and the teacher is off, making copies of papers we need our guardians to sign. Lance Smith is sitting behind me, Genesis Thompson in front of me, and Benjamin Brown on my left. I'm surrounded by three people I have never really spoken to before, but I'm not too worried about it, and distract myself by staring out the window my desk is located closest to. It's pretty day, dark and cloudy. Dad mentioned something about rain, hopefully it will. And that's when I feel my hair being pulled. Shocked and confused I turn around. I settle for a group I labeled the "Cup Cake Girl's" because of how innocent and kiddish they act. I know one of them, and the rest are okay to be around, but I still feel awkward and out of place. Dad picks me up the second the bell rings. "How was the first day, Bambi?" Mom gave me the nickname Bambi because of how clumsy I used to be (I still am). I swear, we couldn't go to a restaurant without me spilling my drink. I was the tallest kid until eighth grade, when Jude Miller finally caught up to me; it was nice to have someone else be awkward and tripping over themselves other than me for a change.
