Resolved Question: I sold an old tractor, now the new owner claims something is wrong?

I sold this old lawn tractor I had via Craigslist today. It was old, maybe 80's, but in good shape. It ran and mowed fine when I sold it. But later that evening I get a phone call from the guy who bought it claiming it wouldn't work properly anymore. I'm not sure what it could be, but I guess I always thought when you bought something from the side of the road, or Craigslist, you bought it "as is". Well now this guy wants his money back, but I never offered a warranty to him or guarantee of any kind, not even a reciept. Part of me sympathizes with him, but the other part of me says, buyer beware. I feel that if I were to buy something used from a private owner, I assume any hidden problems, it's a gamble. And besides that, how do I know if he didn't break something getting it off his truck when he got it home? What's your opinion, how would you handle this situation? Give him his money back or what? So it was about 4 weeks ago that I went to my Uncle Joe's house for supper. I caught the eye's of my cousin Beth and fell in love. As soon as supper was over the family got drunk on Moonshine and I whisked Beth off on my tractor to my trailor and we had sex. Everything was normal for a few weeks when suddenly these foreigners showed up at my front door. (I suspect they're from California or even worse: Yankee's!!) They demanded money and said they were with the "IRS" and the "Federal Goverment" and they said if I didn't pay them they would take away my stuff. I think they might work for that Obama (There ain't nobody around these parts that like him). Well anyway I thought about pulling out my shotgun, but I decided not to and let the rascals go. Resolved Question: i am starting to get sick early in workouts? never has happened before?

hi we are exercising pretty hard for football this summer 4 days a week 7-9 in the morn and for 30 mins we do warmups (15 pushups, situps then toe touches, then 10 more pushups, and side planks, hten high knees and power jumps) then we do the weight training which is pretty hard for the next 30 minutes, then we have conditioning sometimes and tires sometimes (tires we do like flipping tractor tires and dragging them in a squatting position, and hammering a sledgehammer into the side of a tire 10 times on each arm and we do 3 sets of the sledgehammering) and conditioning we do like 10 50 yard sprints which all have to be under 7 seconds or we do one over. so nowadays i have been getting throwup sick heading into the weight training part of the workout and this is weird! i never eat breakfast and that hasnt been an issue until now? does not eating anything before a gruesome workout cause throwing up? anyone know what can be wrong with me? i just feel like im going to gag kind of sick when i do little workouts now...it could be acid reflux too? more

First of all, I know it's Star Wars fiction. I understand that the size of the thing would perhaps make it very difficult to construct, much more so to launch it into space! But could it be assembled in space from parts made on Earth? Also, I don't know alot about science so bear with me... would a "beam" (for want of a better word) be able to be "fired" from within this Death Star? I know that some form of a lightsaber is already well under way in creation... perhaps a "shot" of pure energy, or condensed light or something... I'd imaging it wouldn't have the power of destroying an entire planet though. And lastly, it's shield and "tractor beam" (which I'm given to understand, is merely the workings of avid imaginations currently). I don't know of any form of shield that would invisibly protect the Death Star. But perhaps the "tractor beam" could instead be replaced by a powerful magnetic field system to draw in objects? This part actually seems pointless since the Star in the real world as we know it wouldn't need to do such things; it's not like we're under attack from the Trade Federation.... yet!I know this would hugely expensive and time-consuming, even ultimately pointless (aside from pleasing the more avid Star Wars fan). But what I'm asking is, would it actually be possible with current technology, not: will someone build it now that I've suggested it. more

PROLOGUE. I can never in my life bring myself to repent anything that has happened to me this past week. Even though it brought me face to face with death. It also brought me closer to the most prominant person in my life. I know that i only have myself to condemn for everything that has happened, that has led to this very day. If i had to die anytime soon, i'd rather die knowing i did something virtuous for the one person i genuinely love. I was darting upto him, not to stop him, but to overhaul him and get into that taxi first. I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins. I had to outstrip him. I couldn't bare feeling the torture of watching the majority of my life been taken away from me again. I cannot watch him die again. Meeting him was a dream made into reality. But now i understand not even the most precious dreams can last perpetually so now i have learned to relish every second of it. This is now my dream coming to an end the closer i got to the taxi. My first and last dream worth dying for. He is my dream. I knew it was kismet, one of us had to leave and ascend into the heavens. I knew that if he would die instead of me i would live my life unable to breathe as i will only be left with one lung. I knew that if he would die instead of me i will be left with half the blood i used to have circulating my body as i will only be left with half a heart. With every slow second that would pass by he was becoming the superior necessity of my life. If he isnt alive in this world with me i have no motivation to stay alive. If he were to die instead of me, i knew i were to die soon after. I need him beside me. He is no longer a want but a necessity. He is no longer a desire but he has become my addiction. His life been taken away means the dominant part my life is taken away. If he dies, i die. He is my life. Chapter 1. I can't go on like this. I really can't. It starts of as a disagreement, carries on into a squabble and ends up in a feud. "I'll pack my bags and go then if i bother you so much!" No matter how raucous his yells were, his voice was still as heavenly as the first time i met him. "Go ahead then! Leave!" My voice on the other hand sounded like a cow's final 'moo' before being run over by a tractor compared to his voice. After that he left, with a vacant suitcase for dramatic effect to insinuate that he really was leaving. I just stood there in the middle of the front-room, i could feel my tepid tears trickling down my face ever so slowly. It went from a tumultous blur to being so still and hushed but not tranquil. Not tranquil at all. The interval of each second ticking by the clock seemed to be ongoing. They say silence is golden. In this case i grieved through the silence as i was yearning for the resounding ruckus to return. I felt isolated; grave; cold even, without him. I prefered feeling the exasperation boiling up inside of me just as long as his ethereal figure was standing infront of me. Before i could even reach for the door, he flung it open and siezed me by my waist. He pressed his nose onto mine and looked into my eyes. The angelic music that was his voice said, "you know i can't leave you; if i do i might aswell walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I can't do this thing called life without you here with me." His fingers slid up my back. I cannot controvert how powerless i felt anytime his exquisite, emerald green eyes gazed into my sebdued brown eyes. As his fingers ran through my hair i swear i could feel every single one of the thousands of electrical impulses pass through my body. My only feeling of trepidation was that the electricity sparking between us will make my hair stand on end. I can now concede that i had a compulsion for the thrill that passes through my body with his suave touch. He sighed. Not the bad kind of sigh, but a sigh of relief, of exuberance. I could feel his aromatic breath against my face. He then rested his chin on my shoulder. His body was against mine. "Give me a good reason why you can't leave me?" I whispered in his ear. Resolved Question: What happens in most divorce cases like this?

OK so this is going to be more like a rant on my hatred but I just feel so bad I need to get it out. So my girlfriends parents have been getting a divorce since Christmas, although her mother first said she wanted one in September. In early January her mom moved about 5 miles away (its a VERY rural area, meaning only 10 houses away from the fathers house). The agreement of the parents was for all of the girls would switch houses every Friday at 5:00. This went OK for about 2 weeks until my girlfriend decided she couldn't take the stress and wanted to stay all the time with her dad. Things got even more confusing when we found out her mom already had a boyfriend after just moving out. We had had suspicions about her cheating since around November and we assumed as soon as she moved out she made it into a normal relationship with a man from her work at a bank, who also just so happened to be going through a divorce. In the past few months his ex has contacted my girlfriends father and told him about how her husband and my girlfriends mother have been emailing each other personally for close to ten years(this man knows how to hit delete, but not empty the trash, haha). My girlfriend and I have no desire to be around her mother any longer since we suspect an affair has been going on for such a long time, let alone be near this man. We just don't feel we should have to be around people like that. My girlfriends younger sister (the middle child) now stays with her mother full time while my girlfriend stays with her father full time, although her sister does come over nearly every weekend, and the youngest sister continues to switch every week. The middle sister has called over a few times bawling and we have had to go get her, such as the time her mother was forcing her to go the the boyfriend(creep's) house where they stay the night and have stayed the night many times. One on of these occasions she told us how her mother told everyone my girlfriend was a selfish little brat who only laid around her fathers house and had sex with her boyfriend, which I think is a ridiculous thing to say seeing as we are both 17 and not living together, are honor students, we both play varsity sports, and have jobs working 30 hours a week during the summer. Her mother has filed for full custody more than once but never got it, we assume so she could move in with her douche who lives in a different school district and has 8 children (like 4 are adopted) who also go in between parents each week. The part I feel the worst about is that her father who works for PennDot (we live in Pa obviously) can just afford to keep his house (which he built), his cabin (that he build with his own lumber when he was a teenager) and truck through the divorce. But then her mother is also getting money for a dumptruck that he got through inheritance, multiple tractors, and angus cows that belong to his mother. I just find it so unfair that he has to pay her child support that she only spends on 2 of her daughters and refuses to spend on my girlfriend. I just don't get while he works hard to get his 50,000 a year while she only got 20,000 a year and worked far less, and she is taking all that he worked his whole life for just because she decided she thought she liked this new wimp better. more

Ok, I had an old powerkraft tractor that worked awesome like the hydrostat would pop wheelies and everything, but the deck was shot and there were no available parts so I decided to go out and find a new tractor. So I pulled the 18 hp twin that was in the powerkraft and put it to good use in a cub 1610. So I pulled the tires pulled the front axel and the rear transmission. Like I said this transmission was powerful. Since I've always dealt with removed 5 and 6 speeds I didn't want to mess around with a hydro. So I posted it on ebay. I have a buy who has a powerkraft and they want to replace their transmission and I said sure I'll ship it too you and I guarentee it works, now I turned the pull and its quite easy to turn, no it doesn't spin freely but by hand I can turn it buy one of the fan blades thats made of plastic with out problem. I tried seeing if the axels will turn with the pulley, and since I've dealt with manuals I know it takes quite a bit of turning on the pulley to make the axel rotate once. But I turned it tons and tons of times and neither one of the axels seemed to want to move. I tried moving all 3 levers that where on the transmission. SO what I want to know is how can I tell my transmission is still good. I don't want to ship it to someone saying it worked when I pulled it and then later calling me and cussing up a storm at me because I screwed them over on the deal. How can I tell a hydrostatic transmission that is removed from a tractor may still be good. more

Ok i want a 1977 Western Star 4864, but getting a tractor trailer version of this is near impossible, searched for days so here is my two part question 1. Could under special order, Western Star make me a truck that looks like the 1977 4864 but build it from the ground up and give me a new CAT and a 10 speed trans. ok... so it runs and everything but its just making these really weird noises so u turn it on... and its runs like a tractor (in the sense that its so loud) also... its not consistent... like one moment its really loud... and then its almost as if it has stopped running... it kinda pauses for a second and then 'restarts'... and at this point... it makes this really weird noise... its like its ticking... but its just the engine... its like when a car is stalling and it just goes like chug chug chug... and stops... its like that kinda?? except really loud and the 'chug chug' part happens faster (like more frequently) and louder... and this happens mostly whilst ur mowing the lawn and u pull the lawn mower back... after about 10 mins of using it... it also just seems to stop. and u have to start the mower back up again. ummm it mightve been becuase one of the blades (i had a look) is kinda broken... apparently... someone was using it and they ran over this rock with it... and it just stopped working then... and so one of the blades isnt in line with the other... its kinda on an angle... i have no idea. but any help at all would be great. and what would be the best way to find out whats wrong with it?? i think the mower is still on warranty... Voting Question: Is this a good idea for a story...?

I'm not planning on getting anything published, but I'd like to write something for my friends and I to enjoy. Due to the limited circulation of my work, some people may wonder why I'm even bothering to ask this question. Well... Quite frankly, I still want to write the best story that I can possibly write, regardless of whether or not millions of people will be reading it. Knowing that I wrote something that means something to a friend of mine, or to a girl I like - well, that means more to me than trying to make millions of dollars. It all sounds a bit contrived, I know, but before attempting to write anything for commercial purposes, I just want to enjoy myself. Anyway, I wrote a couple of short stories when I was younger, a sophomore in high school, to be exact. One of them was set shortly after the onset of World War II, and was centered around a German man who had been conscripted into the military arm of the Nazi SS, was wounded in action, and then transferred to a concentration camp where he served as a guard. The story was maybe 10 pages long at the most, but I think it was a good idea. I think it raised some interesting moral questions, as I didn't write about a stereotypically "evil" Nazi prison guard. I had the character eventually transfer a small family of Jewish prisoners to a forced-labor factory, in which inmates had a higher chance of survival than they did in concentration camps. He did this because he needed to feel as if there were still some human left in him. The other story was about a Soviet partisan fighter held up in a tractor factory during the siege of Stalingrad in 1942. That one was probably around 20 or 30 pages in length, but I don't think the story had the same depth. At the end, I killed off the partisan forces in a Luftwaffe air raid, despite the fact that they had just managed to beat off a major German offensive on their position. My idea was to conjoin the two stories, keeping the one about the Schutzstaffel soldier the same, while allowing the Soviet partisan to survive Stalingrad and march westward with the Red Army to Berlin. I want to show both sides of World War II, show the brutality of both the Germans and the Soviets, the latter of which was condoned by Allied powers such as Great Britain and the United States. I wanted to follow the story of the SS guy in the concentration camp as he works, faced with more and more ethical dilemmas. I don't want him to be a saint, but rather a human. A person who is forced to make horrible decisions to save themselves, while doing what little they can to help those who they have hurt. I'm not thinking anything massive like Schindler's List, but rather making things better in little ways, while keeping suspense in the plot. Ultimately, I want the Soviet partisans to reach the aforementioned concentration camp and liberate it from the Nazi occupying force. I'm not sure exactly how to approach the next part, as I know it was routine practice for the Nazis to leave concentration camps (sometimes taking the prisoners) as Soviet forced drew nearer. But I want the Soviet partisan, along with his unit, to capture the German SS officer along with others, and essentially massacre them in the most brutal fashion. Idyllically, I want my limited audience to feel both pity and despair over the death of the German soldier, while asking themselves the inevitable question of how they could possibly feel bad for a Nazi. I want my limited audience to feel propelled and driven by the advance of the Red Army on Berlin in the Soviet quest for vengeance, while at the same time sickened by the massacres, rape, and looting. I'll cut myself off here. Good idea, or no? more

Resolved Question: How can I talk to a Technician about a Sears Craftman lawn tractor recurring issue with the mower deck?

I have a lawn tractor from craftsman (Mod 917273461). I have replaced the same parts now 3 times and am getting ready to replace them one more time. The shaft (mandrel kit PN 137646, authorized substitute part) and pulley PN 173436. Both parts are installed, and used for 3 or four days and the pulley and the mandrell shaft get eaten up. I have read the website for sears tractors and it says several people have complained and there is a site for complaints on any products and this issue in on there. There is no recal on solution from the Sears parts and the technicians don't seem to have a clue. In my opinion, the pulley metal and the shaft both have a star cut that acts as a key. The contact surface is not big enough on the pulley to avoid any small clump of grass from putting too much forceon the surfaces and shears the surfaces off too easily. Or what ever the "cluthc" system is, in not working. I don'[t think my lawn tractor has a clutch on it... I have emailed, and called service and repair for my city, I have gone to the parts and service personally to purchase the parts. I cannot get an answer. There is no recall, and there should be! more

I have a kubota L2800 and a howse rotary tiller and the rotary tiller wont fit my PTO it goes on about a couple inches but then stops. Ive tryed tapping it on with a hammer gently. It does not have any buttons to push while sliding on. When i get it on a couple inches i set it down and turn the PTO on it flys right off without even moving the tractor any help ive also tryed greasing both parts but didnt seem to work. This doesn't have a lot to do with parenting, but sort of. I have a grandpa pushing 80. Love him to death, and he means the world to me, and I want him to be a part of my son's life, I want my son to remember him and have good memories of him. He smokes 2 packs of cigarettes a day easy. I still bring my son over to see him, because its that important to me, but I have been on my grandpa since I was a kid for him to quit smoking. He is totally able to care for himself, travels, works on tractors, makes money, very healthy and he went to the pulmonologist because we wouldn't leave him alone about it (we thought after 70 yrs. of smoking because he started smoking when he was 9, that for sure something would be wrong with him) but the pulmonologist said that his lungs were clear as a bell, and he had 90% lung capacity. Is it time to just leave him alone about it? Just let him smoke? He is a healthy man, and I am thankful for the time I have had with him, but I am selfish and want him to make 100, and with him being so healthy I feel if he quit smoking he would last so much longer. It gives him so much pleasure and he has made it this long, so would you let your parent or grandparent just keep on smoking? He told us he would quit and go on chantix to help him, but now that we found this out, I don't know if the pressure of stopping smoking is worth it. more

Ok so one of my friends, we'll call him little tommy is acting very weird. We went out twice, he kind of switched back and forth between me and my cousin. We're still really good friends, we can smack talk each other and don't care cause we know the other is just playin. We're in the band together, but he's leavin me next year to go to high school and he's a grade ahead of me. No i did not fail, we met by band and our bands play together.
