Resolved Question: Do you know that the value of hand quilted quilts is much more than the machine quilted?

Machine pieced and quilted quilts are worth less than hand quilted quilts. My Mom made quilts for a while. She had to go to doing them on the machine, this brought down the value considerably. She made some for my sister who bought the fabric for her. I do not know what my Mom got from sister selling them. She got a piece of the money. No one could know what, I never asked. My mother had a really bad back. She had cataracts. When they were finally removed, she could not crochet as she did before. She continued quilting, but had to quit. Being able to crochet, even intricately, does not mean one is employable. It depends on a lot of things. It could be used to intimidate, bluff, blackmail, harass someone, if they were a threat in any way. It could be used to get the upper hand on someone who knows where the bodies are buried. I have only one or two of her quilts which she machine quilted; they are tattered, not worth anything monetay, but I love them. They are not worth anything but to me. I had more of her things, including the hand crocheted tablecloth which took her a long time to make. She made one for each of us. Someone took them. My Mom was very hurt that the tablecloth was taken from us. The quilts Mom made all or most of her life were used on the beds for warmth. Does this mean she was able to work. No. Making one tablecloth, does not mean anything. There is the market, the expense, the time taken and how many she could make, profit. Disabled people are allowed to earn so much money. People on welfare are allowed so much income. There is overhead expense in any production.. She could make nothing in an amount to make a living or get enough money to make her not able to work, unless someone lied to get her into trouble. Then there is the stress of knowing you are making them for other people to be considered. Poor Mom. She took care of a blind husband who needed her at home. He could not live alone. She never got to go any where. She went to town once a month. He did not like church. He did not like going much of any where. They took a lot ofhassle off people. Could he walk a straight line? He was blind, completely. About their property. Yes. They bought a farm, the farm: The pet cemetery of pet cemeteries. It was rocks, hills, not much flat land. It would have taken a fortune to clear the land. We did not have it. It had only about three acres cleared, one of those was a lot of clay mud. There would have been the rocks , thickets , trees to remove. Cut the trees, not really valuable timber, only for firewood is all. That is where we got our firewood for the rest of our lives. Pull the stumps. Pay the people to cut the trees, pay to pull the stumps, fill it in. Pay to remove the huge rocks. Pay to level some of it. Pay to till it. Pay to plant and replant for several years cover crops to combat the red clay mud. Then , there is the matter of farm equipment rental...tractors, dozers, etc. We had none. These things cost a lot to run. So...their ground was very very cheap when they bought it. It did not sell for a lot. The house was a small two story frame home with siding. It had a cistern, not a well, we carried our water from a well.. It ws home. When we left we had electricity. We did not, for many years, nor did the neighbors. This was long ago. I spent l7 years there. The balance of my life, I did not live that way, until I was forced to go back and take help from a relative who was so impoverished that the only means she had to help me was to allow me to live in a shack on her property with no running water, no ac, only wood heat, no flushing toilette. I worked for five to six hours a day, min. wage, or slightly above, very slightly, for years. It was very painful work. I didn't have the money to do anything. I would rather die than to live like that. I had committed absolutely no crime. We were like most people in that country except the ones who lived in town, or had jobs. My Mom was a minority, very bad scoliosis. DAd was blind. We did not have it "good." You might supplement your income from selling quilts. The object is to say hand quilted and pieced are worth more, and you could send them to California, or somewhere. Knitting is the same way. I can sew, limited. I burned myself out winter before last. I hurt so bad I could not stand it. So, I have to do little bits at a time. Same with this. I can hunt and peck when I do this straight typing, it hurts my chest. The piano does not bother me. I am not on disability. If I do not want to work, I do not have to, on or off. I have not filed bankruptcy. I am not wanting to work. I have had enough abuse and I feel no guilt whatsoever when I do not work. I worked my entire life, hard, on the job and off, I deserve some peace and quiet. I am not a workaholic. I worked to have money to play, have comfort, luxury. I do not understand the warI do not understand the war to drag out my illness, I do not understand forcing me to work when I am not able. I apologize for the lack of proofreading here. I have bad vision problems. I have to buy two pairs of glasses to get one. That was the way it was when I was young also. more

Resolved Question: Are vegetarians concerned with all the animals that are hurt...?

This question is for vegetarians who don't eat meat because they are opposed to the unethical treatment of animals. Are vegetarians concerned with all the animals that are hurt during the harvesting of fruits, vegetables, and grains? During harvest time, farm equipment and tractors run over at least a few deer per farm each season. Other animals, such as rabbits, get caught by the blades of the choppers. Even when animals escape unharmed, their birds nests and homes they have made in the fields are destroyed. Why is it that some vegetarians/vegans will not eat animal products based on the fact that animals were treated poorly to obtain those products, but they will eat fruits, vegetables, and grains even though animals were harmed to harvest those items as well? Just curious. The examples I used are from experience, not from cited statistics on all farms. My husband and I do custom chopping, combining, and bailing for local farms around the area. Deer and other critters do get run over and killed by combines, though we try to avoid it. We do not raise animals on the farm; we are agricultural only. more

Resolved Question: Does biking through different countries make you an "immigration expert"?

How many unqualified people like Forsty Wooldridge are out there putting out reports on immigration and claiming they are "experts"? FROSTY WOOLDRIDGE: The author of hundreds of opinion columns, Frosty Wooldridge believes he knows a thing or two about immigration. It's not a pretty picture he paints. An Army veteran, Wooldridge claims to have written articles for 18 magazines, along with "hundreds" of editorials in major American newspapers. He says he bicycled 100,000 miles through six continents over the course of 25 years. He has taught math and science and has been a tractor-trailer driver, bartender, dance teacher, ski instructor, heavy equipment trainer, cardiac catheterization technician, personal trainer and lifestyle coach. He has appeared on scores of television and radio shows. But what he does not have is any background in immigration. http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?pid=983 more

Resolved Question: Question on battery trickle maintenance chargers -?

I was looking at buying a Duracell D2A 2 AMP 12V Battery Maintainer / Charger to use during cold weather months to keep a level charge on things that are not being used like the lawn tractor battery and the motorcycle battery. I have never used one of these trickly type chargers that you leave hooked up to your equipment all the time. Just wondering - do you have to disconnect the battery from machine, or can you leave the positive & negative cables from the vehicle hooked up to the battery while the trickle charger is connected and working ? I did not know if the constant positive charge going in from the slow charger would cause a problem with the vehicle's electrical system if left hooked up to the engine. Thanks for the help !Thanks Frank, thats exactly what I wanted to know - good deal. more

Resolved Question: Has anybody read the new EPA regulations?

Voting Question: What happens if you work for cash and don't pay taxes?

My best friends brother works for a guy who is self employed and does construction type work. It's just her brother, the guy, and another person who take their tractors and equipment out to jobs and such. The guy just pays her brother cash, and they don't work steadily. Sometimes 1 week out of the month, sometimes 3 weeks out of a month. Here and there for about 6 years. But she's panicking because if he wants to apply for a "real" job with a "company" what will happen? Especially if he has this great experience and knowledge of equipment and stuff, how can he put that on a resume when he has not paid taxes for those years? (He's almost mid twenties now) Please any help would be great and I'll forward her the answers, or give her this link. Thanks!Okay so far very helpful, but I guess I also want to know if he tells about his working experience, wouldn't that "tell on" himself about working and not paying taxes? And also, what would he need to do to "get right" with them. That's what he wants. He really wasn't trying to cheat the system, just being young and uneducated about it all, that's all. Does he just say, "Hey uncle sam, here I am, these last 6 or so years, blah blah blah." What would happen? more

Resolved Question: Can water get in the gas you buy at the service station?

We had our John Deere Tractor serviced and was charged and told the reason it did not start was due to water in the Fuel line and the carburetor. I bought the gas at the local station. It was put in a new can. We put this gas in our John Deere, push mower and blower as well as our new weed eater. Nothing started. Went to the owner told him and he said no way that water does not get into the gas. Ok! So Got everything fixed only to buy more gas/ same station after all Owner says no way does this happen. and here we go again. Poured fresh gas in from same station. Service call Charged again for water in the gas. We keep our equipment in a dry carriage house. Gas buy as needed so what do we do? more

Resolved Question: Who legally owns the debt of this previously owned mowing tractor?

Roger sells his expensive mowing tractor to his neighbor Zan. Shortly after Zan takes possession, someone representing the lawn equipment company tells Zan that the store holds a purchase money security interest in the tractor. Does the store have priority regarding the mower, meaning does the security interest continue on the mower following Zan's purchase of it? I would like to see a reference to an actual court case similar to this one if you can provide me with one, NOT just your opinion please :) more

Resolved Question: Air Force and family?

Okay, so i am 18 years old and have really nothing going on with my life. I have currently finished part time with a government job. I have always wanted to be a part of something. Wanted to be a cop for a while then a paramedic or fire fighter. But where i live it is almost impossible. Everything is in a hire freeze. I have thought hard and deeply about the military and my papaw has always told me that everybody should go in at least for 2 yrs. Just a week ago my papaw died from pancreatic cancer and my family is having a hard time. Everything is so confusing right now and not sure what to do. I have graduated high school and have a clean background. My High scool gpa is a 3.0 and i have been accepted in many colleges. But I want to enlist in the air force probably just for 4 yrs maybe 6. My dad is having a rough time right now cause of papaw and i am to. I don't think he understands that but I am. But I want to enlist. I go Wed to the recruiter and my mom and sister is going with me. Dad is too but he said it was stupid and a waste of time. He said he is going to wait in the car. He owns a big business with tractors and heavy equipment and wants me to take it over. I told him I will after the Air Force but he said if i go in he is going to sell it all. I really do not like working with that kind of stuff but it does make good money. But i still want to enlist and go with the air force. My question is what could i tell him before i go to make him understand. He has to know that I will come back and take it over but just to wait for me. Im not ready for it. Plz no negative feedback and nobody tell me to not listen to my parents. I am 18 but I do respect them. I dont want to go in having him mad at me. more

Resolved Question: Ireland Vs France who will win?

Ireland vs France? Sarcozy, The French President, is sitting in his office when his telephone rings. "Hallo, Mr. Sarcozy!" a heavily accented voice said. "This is Paddy Down at the Harp Pub in County Clare, Ireland. I am ringing to inform you that we are officially declaring war on ya!" "Well, Monsieur Paddy," Sarcozy replied, "This is indeed important news! How big is your army?" "Right now," says Paddy, after a moment's calculation, "there is meself, me Cousin Sean, me next door neighbor Seamus, and the entire darts team from the pub and that makes eight of us. Sarcozy paused. "I must tell you, Monsieur Paddy, that I have 100,000 men in my army waiting to move on my command." "Begoora!" says Paddy. "I'll have to ring ya back. Sure enough, the next day, Paddy calls again. "Mr. Sarcozy, the war is still on. We have managed to get us some infantry equipment!" "Well, we have two combines, a bulldozer, and Murphy's farm tractor." Sarcozy sighs amused. "I must tell you monsieur that I have 6,000 tanks and 5 000 armored personnel carriers. Also, I have increased my army to 150,000 since we last spoke." "Saints preserve us!" says Paddy. "I'll have to get back to ya." Sure enough, Paddy rings again the next day. "Mr. Sarcozy, the war is still on! We have managed to get ourselves airborne! We have modified Jackie McLaughlin's ultra-light with a couple of shotguns in the cockpit, and four boys from the Shamrock Bar have joined us as well." Sarcozy was silent for a minute and then cleared his throat. "I must tell you monsieur that I have 100 bombers and 200 fighter planes. My military bases are surrounded by laser-guided, surface-to-air missile sites. And since we last spoke, I have increased my army to 200,000!" "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!" says Paddy, "I will have to ring ya back." Sure enough, Paddy calls again the next day. "Top o' the mornin', Mr. Sarcozt! I am sorry to inform ya that we have had to call off the war." "Really? I am sorry to hear that," says Sarcozy. "Why the sudden change of heart?" Resolved Question: Help? Foam air filter for garden equipment question.?

Hello, I have an old Craftsman tractor and a old Craftsman leaf blower/vac and the foam air filters are no good and they are falling apart. I don't think small engine places would sell these type of air filters because this equipment is from the 70's and 80's. I would like to know if It would damage the engines(let dust and debris inside the engine) if I were to buy foam from a craft store and size the foam thickness/shape and make my own filter? Does the foam have to be a certain thickness or thinness? Any suggestions? Please help? Sorry for the dumb questions. Thank you. more

Resolved Question: What is your opinion on 3 Mexicans sent to prison for stealing?

Three Mexican citizens have been sentenced to U.S. federal prison for their roles in stealing heavy equipment and selling it to people in Central America, authorities said today. A fourth man, a Houston resident, is scheduled to be sentenced later this year, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Houston. Federal authorities said that Victor Antonio Garcia, 27, was sentenced to four years and three months in prison and ordered to pay $380,000 in restitution; Rito Jasso-Zorilla, 32, was sentenced to three years and five months in prison and ordered to pay $12,056 in restitution; and Orlando Gonzalez Huerta, 29, was sentenced two years in prison. Yuri David Melendez, 42, of Houston, is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 16. He faces up to five years in prison for his role in the scheme as well as up to life prison on a separate conviction for narcotics trafficking. Federal officials said that Melendez received requests from contacts in Central America for the purchase of stolen tractor trucks, trailers, tankers and other heavy equipment. Melendez targeted equipment at Houston-area industrial and commercial sites and then recruited others to helped steal it and transport it to Central America, usually Honduras and Guatemala. They would drive the purloined equipment to staging locations near Edinburg and then take it to Central America. The customers paid Melendez after the equipment arrived, federal officials said. The scheme began in about 2001. Melendez was arrested in January at his Houston home and he pleaded guilty in May http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/6686784.html more

Resolved Question: Can I be my own lawyer in a divorce property settlement?

Resolved Question: What kind of result should I expect in court?

My ex-wife and I divorced 3 yrs ago. I am a self-employed farmer that deals in cows and hay. We were married for 30yrs. She left and filed for divorce. We have about 150 acres of land-a little farm equipment-tractor-etc. She hired an attorney and is now suing me for 175,000.00. PLUS she wants me to pay all of the bills she left. She took none of the bills. She wants me to sell all the land and the cows, pay off the debt and split what is left and because she has estimated the assets to WAY higher than they really are-she thinks that there will be 175,000.00 left. Voting Question: How is a farm/assets split up when its divided into thirds?

This is what my grandfather's will states for his wife and 2 boys. How can you split a farm in 1/3? Are those involved allow to do whatever they want with their third? What about farm equipment, tractors, etc. How is that decided? Do they all have to agree before anyone does anything? The will states that she gets the house and 1/3 of the estate. My dad and uncle each get the other 1/3 of the estate. This is not their mother that is living. She passed away many years ago and this is his new wife. The land is currently rented out, but my dad wants the farm to stay in the family. more

Resolved Question: Which welder is right for my application?

I'm looking at a couple of welders for home/farm use and I am unsure which type and model is appropriate. I would like some advice which type is best for my needs. I commonly need to repair broken/rusted trailer frames and also modify equipment such as a snow plow to fit onto my tractor. The snow plow has 1/2" thick metal frame components, yet I see that the MIG welder I was looking at said it had 1/8" capacity. Does that mean it would only penetrate 1/8" into the 1/2" metal I'm joining together, or does it mean that I can't join pieces greater that 1/8" thick? If stick or other type of welders are better for this type of application, please let me know. more

Resolved Question: Do you have to be certified to open your own auto shop?

A little back ground: I grew up on a farm around tractors, which is where I first got the mechanic bug, doing minor repairs and basic maintenance on our equipment and farm trucks with my dad. When I got my first car ( a 91' taurus) I could never afford to have a shop fix it when stuff broke, so I always had to figure it out myself. It was all small stuff on that car: starter needed replaced, leaky radiator, one brake caliper seized up on me; stuff like that but it was a good car and I kept it running myself . Eventually the Taurus got tired so I got myself a 97 Mustang with bad head-gaskets. Again I could afford the new head-set and the fee for the warp check, but not labor for someone else to do it for me, so once again I had to roll up my sleeves and do it myself. This was my first real mechanical project that involved partial dis-assembly of the actual engine, but I found it to be much easier to do than I had originally thought and learned a lot about engines in the process, long story short, I still drive the car and have driven over 90,000 miles on it without any additional head-gasket problems, since then I have also replaced my own clutch, steering rack, and front ball joints as well as completely rebuilding the rest of my front steering and suspension: struts, tie-rod ends, bushings etc. and even had my transmission partially apart to replace the housing gasket. I frequently repair my sisters, Dodge Neon( damn thing always has something wrong with it) and even helped my brother put a new engine in his 2000 Nissan Frontier( old engine lost the timing belt and destroyed the valves). I have completed all repairs successfully and the vehicles all run well and reliably. I also do repairs on my friends cars because they are always broke( the cars AND the friends). I am now 22 yrs old and since I seem to have a natural talent for understanding how cars work and how to fix them I have began to think about going into business for myself, repairing clunkers for people who need their vehicle but can't afford a newer car or the more expensive repair shops. I have discovered that in most cases the largest chunk of their bill is usually labor and not the cost of the actual parts( an alternator usually costs around $60-$90 dollars to buy but most shops will charge you at least a couple hundred dollars to do the replacement) So my question is kind of a two part-er. I know you don't need to be certified to be hired as an auto mechanic but do you need any type of certification or licensing to own your own auto shop? And if you knew some one like me personally and trusted them, would you bring your vehicles to their shop to be repaired even if they weren't ASE certified, but charged lower labor fees because of it? Thank you for reading this long@** story just to get to the questions, all feedback is appreciated. more

Resolved Question: OMG are Ireland and France at war?

I just got this info in an email from a reliable source. Can it be true? The French President is sitting in his office when his telephone rings. 'Hallo, Mr. Sarkozy!' a heavily accented voice said. 'This is Paddy down at the Harp Pub in County Clare , Ireland . I am ringing to inform you that we are officially declaring war on you! We voted to reject the Lisbon treaty!' 'Well, Paddy,' Sarkozy replied, 'This is indeed important news! How big is your army?' 'Right now, says Paddy, after a moment's calculation, 'there is myself, me Cousin Sean, me next door neighbour Seamus, and the entire darts team from the pub. That makes eleven!' Sarkozy paused. 'I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 100,000 men in my army waiting to move on my command.' 'Begoora!' says Paddy. 'I'll have to ring you back.' Sure enough, the next day, Paddy calls again. 'Mr. Sarkozy, the war is still on. We have managed to get us some infantry equipment!' 'And what equipment would that be Paddy?' Sarkozy asks. 'Well, we have two combines, a bulldozer, and Murphy's farm tractor.' Sarkozy sighs amused. 'I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 6,000 tanks and 5,000 armoured personnel carriers. Also, I have increased my army to 150,000 since we last spoke.' 'Saints preserve us!' says Paddy. 'I'll have to get back to you.' Sure enough, Paddy rings again the next day. 'Mr. Sarkozy, the war is still on! We have managed to get ourselves airborne! We have modified Jackie McLaughlin's ultra-light with a couple of shotguns in the cockpit, and four boys from the Shamrock Bar have joined us as well!' Sarkozy was silent for a minute and then cleared his throat. 'I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 100 bombers and 200 fighter planes. My military bases are surrounded by laser-guided, surface-to-air missile sites. And since we last spoke, I have increased my army to 200,000!' 'Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!' says Paddy, 'I will have to ring you back.' Sure enough, Paddy calls again the next day. 'Top o' the mornin', Mr. Sarkozy! I am sorry to inform you that we have had to call off the war.' 'Really? I am sorry to hear that,' says Sarkozy. 'Why the sudden change of heart?' 'Well,' says Paddy, 'we had a long chat over a few pints of Guinness and packets of crisps, and we decided there is no fookin' way we can feed 200,000 prisoners.' more

Resolved Question: Investing in Real Assets rather than Fiat Dollars?

Investing ideas for the Fiat Dollar? I am looking to compile a list of real assets that will be good for trade for the event of a paper dollar collapse. The USA Dollar index broke a major level of support and there is too much evidence to prepare holding dollars in stocks, mutual funds, bonds and so on. Smart investing would be to try and get great prices, and then you can obtain more real assets. Also smart is picking items that would be planned for use as well as planned for trade in later dates (looking for products others could use) What other assets are great to invest for that is not included on this list? REAL METALS (silver, gold, copper, nickel etc.) FOOD (canned, fresh, water etc) AGRICULTURE (equipment and supplies; tractor, seeds, fertilizer etc) ENERGY (batteries, backup generator, solar panel) APPAREL (shoes, coats, pants etc) MEDICINE AND DRUGS BOOKS (reading [fiction and non fiction], blank paper) GUNS & AMMO TECHNOLOGY LAND TRAVEL (cars, bikes, horses) ANIMALS/LIVESTOCK (horses, dogs, chickens, pigs etc) more

Resolved Question: What might this dream be telling me?

I was driving home on a road I normally take coming back from a neighboring city. There was this large truck ahead of me. It looked like an industrial tow truck and had a tire suspended in the air from a pulley on the back of it. The tire alternately kept lifting and descending, swaying all around, so I didn't want to get too close. Then, I looked up and saw that there was some type of tractor or construction equipment dangling from the pulley almost above my car so I dropped back further. Next thing I know, the entire front of the tow truck burst into flames. There were a lot of cars lined up on the road and people were getting out of their cars to see what happened. I was in shock and was horrified by what just happened. Then, I noticed another motorist, some nondescript guy, who seemed happy about it and was smiling. That is when I woke up. I'm sure my dream is telling me something, but I'm not sure what. I've had similar dreams where I've narrowly escaped being in danger or harm's way.I don't watch the kind of TV shows that would have things like this happen in them. Also, I have had similar dreams to this before. more

Resolved Question: Name of WWII AAF Ground service tractor?

My Father, now deceased, work the flight line at Edwards Air Base during WWII. He had talked of a service tractor that had on it an auxiliary generator, welder, and air compressor. Or any further information to send me in the right direction?Okay I stand corrcted, He was stationed at Muroc Army Air Field as ground crew working on the B-29 bombers. Resolved Question: Did anyone ever remember making things when you could not afford to buy things? What things and equipment did?

you make? Because we put old cars in the back yard when we no longer used them, we had a wealth of parts, nuts and bolts for the taking. We needed a good tractor for the garden and as a utility vehicle. We hacksawed the chassis of an old 31 Ford, replaced the car transmission with a truck transmission that had a "granny gear" and then drilled holes to install a worm drive model ' T ' rear. We hauled garbage to the dump 6 miles away by pulling a trailer, but pulled a lot of good thrown away things out of the hole at the dump and carted it back to the house. We were into recycling before it became popular to do so. more

A kid that was listening said, "that's nothing, I can stay under water for 10 minutes using no types of equipment or air pockets!" The magician told the kid if he could do that, he'd give him $10,000. The kid did it and won the money. Can you figure out how? 2) An old man wanted to leave all of his money to one of his three sons, but he didn't know which one he should give it to. The second bought some sticks, but they still did not fill the room. The third man bought two things that filled the room, so he obtained his father's fortune. What were the two things that the man bought? AND ITS NOT AIR 3) You are on an island in the middle of a lake. Resolved Question: What causes a carbureted motorcycle to be so hard to start, whenever it is just mildly cool (< 60 deg. F.)?

Whenever it is cooler than 60 or so F., it is very difficult to start without wetting the spark plugs. Other carbureted four-cycle small engines that use the same aspirated carburetion principle (except having 1 for the whole engine instead of 1 per cylinder, for performance reasons) and the same ignition principle (a single-electrode spark plug) on snow blowers, garden tractors, air compressors, generators, etc. that are designed to be routinely used in much colder weather are so easy to start in much colder weather, some without electric starters, and with no starting fluid (ether) sprayed into the intake. Is it because the Japanese have them geared so low that they then have to run at high RPM's and thus have to have low-temperature-range spark plugs, so that at operating speed in summer weather you don't start to get detonation, which more-easily damages aluminum pistons vs. the steel ones in small-engine power equipment? If small-engine power equipment were always this hard to start in just mildly cold temperatures, not many people would buy them.1994 Honda Magna 750cc (the new style V-4 engine, not the V-45) (or, what Honda simply calls a "VF750C"). Resolved Question: Does anyone support E-85 corn based ethanol? I believe its a waste of time, money, and resources.?

Does anyone have any arguments of evidence to suggest persuade me? Here is my opinion that I posted earlier to someones question. Prove me wrong. E-85 is not an answer to Global Warming. I live in the upper midwest and don't know of anyone who actually uses E-85 in their cars, and we have almost 6 ethanol plants in the 150 mile area. On average E-85 is 25 cents cheaper per gallon, but since the fuel burns at a faster rate your still better off buying regular gasoline. So really it is quite ineffecient. Also, if your car is a few years new you can run E-85 safely. But for those of us who don't, if you run E-85 in your car and the motor burns out or corrodes from using E-85 the manufacturer will NOT cover your warranty. Also, corn based E-85 plants still use fossil fuels to refine E-85 which still must be sent to the oil refinerys to be mixed. The owners and investors of E-85 don't like to admit to this. But I do understand the Sugar cane based e-85 plants in Brasil do run off of the product they make. But sadly the corn based plants in the U.S. do not, so it is not a clean eco friendly product if you still use energy from coal buring plants. Oh yeah don't forget about the hundreds of gallons water that gets used up to make one frickin gallon of E-85. No matter what they say it is not renewable. This product would be renewable if the farmer planting the corn used E-85 in his tractor and used it in all of his farming equipment. And then if all the truckers used E-85 to ship and transfer E-85. And if the Ethanol Plant refinerey was running off of E-85. Then your might have something to talk about. Also, making car fuel out of food that could be used instead to feed millions of people around the world is a stupid, stupid idea. You must also remember the direct corelation of rising feed costs for agriculture with the farmers. Which therefore has had a tremendous influence of rising food costs at grocery stores. Because most farmers are getting more money to deliver thier corn crop to the E-85 plants instead of Food companies. Look we are getting duped. The E-85 plants and some politicians cannot prove these facts wrong. When challenged you will see alot of questin begging, misuse of statistics, and suppressed evidence. That is if they even answer the question. This crap was invented to make money for people who already had plenty of it. Also an excuse for some agriculture companies and grocery stores to raise prices.I am very sure that many politicians and owners of E-85 plants Did tote E-85 as a product to fight Global Warming. When it first came out E-85 was labeled as such. I could dig up many advertisements and newpaper articles of it being poromoted to fight Global Warming. I think what I should have said was Corn based E-85 good ofr anything? If it worked at all? Then why does each ethanol plant recieve millions of dollars in Federal Aid to stay open? Thanks to everyone contributing to my question. We must spread the word why corn based E-85 sucks. more
