Voting Question: Please help me in finding respirator information...?
I paint combine parts for John Deere. We work in a state of the art paint booth but my employer does not change filters, nor do they keep it climate controlled as they should. All of us are suffering respiratory infection and working twelve hour shifts along with weekends. If we go to their doctor he says that we are suffering from a cold and should not be in a respirator; then they make us go to our doctor in order to retain something in which states that we have no doctors restrictions. I am wondering if they are even providing the proper equipment for us. Please help me find something on respirators that states that they are for minimal use...should we have air fed suits? Are their certain chemicals that these full face, double chambered masks do not protect us from? For instance, one of my flaps fell off. For three days I noticed that I was struggling with my breathing. My pulmonary reports showed that my lung functions dropped 40% in 1.5 months, in which it only worsened. They told me that the flap only controlled fog; however, my mask never fogged. I called North (the manufacturer) and they told me that the flap pressurized the mask, in which weakened my lungs. However, I was never pulled out of the booth for time recovery...they told me no doctors restrictions or I loose my job. Please help us! moreResolved Question: Interested in starting a small summer mowing business..few questions?
Hello everybody, first of all thanks for taking the time and reading this. Here's the deal. Me and two other friends (all 18 years of age) are interested in starting a small local lawn mowing business. We live in a country-ish area where most of the yards are very big. I've noticed driving by different houses that there are houses that either need to be cut or are being cut by expensive landscaping companies. We thought it would be a good idea to put flyers around close neighborhoods and the local supermarket offering our service of cutting, trimming, and cleaning. Now, what are some good ideas to include on the flyer, other than our name, what we do, and contact information? What would be a reasonable charge rate to offer to customers? We want to be reasonable where people will want us cutting their yards but we would also like to make some money after taking care of gas expenses. Some ideas i had were to charge $1/minute, $30/acre, or even $50 for the first hour then $1/minute after that. Equipment wise, we have a Cub Cadet zero turn mower, a John Deere 325 riding mower, a push mower, weed wacker/trimmer, and other basic tools (rake, shovel, etc.) I think we have the necessary equipment to complete our small jobs. However, we do not have a trailer to carry the mowers. Would it be better to invest in a used trailer or to purchase a ramp for a Silverado truck and have the mower in there? Also, if you have done something like this before, how was the experience? I am interested in the input. Thank you again for taking the time, I am curious to see all the answers! moreResolved Question: College student looking to start small mowing business?

Every year we give 19 billion in foreign aid. For them to do with what they please and no strings attached. Seems to me that we should put a stipulation on that money. If that money is to be used for things such as infrastructure, food and such, they should be made to buy any of that stuff that is available here in the country that is helping them. For instance, when these countries buy new ambulances, police cars, fire trucks or general government vehicles, they should be required to buy those from GM, Ford or Chrysler, not Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi or Honda. I have been to many of these countries in my military career and not one uses our goods except Israelm but Israel doesnt need our money. Heavy equipment for the building of bridges, roads and such should be bought from CAT, John Deere, CASE or another U.S. manufacturer. Foods should also be bought from us. Just a simple idea that will not go through. Good idea or not? moreResolved Question: History test help please?!?!?!?

My grandpa doesn't work the farm he owns anymore and we are trying to find out how much some of his equipment is worth... He owns a John Deere 60, Farmall Model B, and a Farmall 400 with front end scoop. All were used to work the land, so they are not in ideal condition, as in they are rusted but they still start and function as they should. If you could give an idea as to what each is worth it would be appreciated. moreResolved Question: What type of paint do industrial manufacturers like CAT, John Deere, Ditch Witch use on their equipment?
We are a small manufacturer of drilling machines. The paint we currently using dries too long, chips easily and does not last very long compared to the above mentioned companies who's equipment still has a full good looking coat of paint after years of work. What type paints or additives do they use? moreResolved Question: Is outsourcing low skilled assembly jobs overseas good for USA economy? You decide?
Here is the logic behind shipping jobs overseas, in particular assembly jobs that low skilled workers can do. I am not defending the position, just giving you the logic. The items America produces the best in the world are complicated industrial machinery. Best example of this would be bulldozers, earth moving equipment, and farm equipment made by companies like John Deere and Caterpillar. Because of the standard of living in the USA, American labor cannot compete in the manufacture of consumer items that sell for $100 or less on the international market. In order to compete, production cost would have to be cut, which effects the quality of the item. In other words, it would be junk. In countries like China and India, in particular, labor is so cheap that hiring 1000 people with shovels cost less than buying an earth mover to build roads or whatever. The notion is to send these assembly jobs of small consumer items to these countries to raise the standard of living there so it is no longer cost effective to use manual labor over machinery on big projects. This is starting to work in China. Both China and India are several decades away from having a skilled labor force that will actually be able to produce complication industrial machinery that works. Bear in mind that selling a boat load of bulldozers to China is much more revenue, requires higher paying manufacturing labor, than a boat load of shoes China would sell to the USA. Right now, companies that make highly engineered industrial equipment like 3M and GE are sending lots of equipment to China. Given time, the industrial expansion of China will create great demand for quality produced industrial equipment from the USA. moreResolved Question: How many of you are farmers or are into farming?
