Welcome to Hunting Farm For Sale Questions and Answers

Open Question: What ways can I advertise to sell my farm?

I want to retire and today I am age 62. All I have left is 64 acres and want to keep 4 to fix my home and sell it later. The 60 is bare land. I ran an ad in the newpaper $110 in Indianapolis Indiana for a week got no calls. Craigslist was gettign me 3 calls a day but no buyers just lookers with no money. I need CASH not a contract and I am below market price on the land for example 1/2 is wooded and I saw 60 acres worse than mine sell for $1700 per acre at land auction 4 miles away 3 weeks ago, I would survey off 30 acres of woods for $1500 per acre. If the places I run ads are not working and my price is fair and since people were calling me then there is an interest in my land I feel all I have to do is find the proper place to advertise the land so it sells. But the newspaper i used did not work and online has not worked just alot calls no buyers with money. I have considered drive around Indiana and hang up land for sale flyers? Or do mail outs? Both i tried but very limited and got 4 calls. 2 from flyers at an Amish auction near here held each Friday and 2 from flyers to hunting stores men wanted hunting land. My price is fair and my land is below market and nice location with nice neighbors and I have a fish business that will make the payments. I just want to move far away and have no interest in credit sales I need cash. Banks are not making loans now and the people who wanted my land cannot get money MY question is Where Can I advertise to find a real buyer with money? Realtors have not worked I gave 600 realtors an open listing and no buyers.THE QUESTION IS NOT where can I get a LOAN that for for the BUYER I am the SELLER the question is WHERE CAN I advertise to FIND NEW BUYERS. What is all this about LOANS ? Banks are only loaning on 10 acres or less so I need someone wh already HAS money. What places can i Advertise to find new buyers. ??? What WAYS ?i am 62 years old I do not want to wait until the country gets better I also do not want to lower my price I am way below market now, what i want is ways to find buyers because I am VERY confident a buyer is out there ready to buy and who has the money. I need ways to locate them. more

Resolved Question: Am i Crazy?! please answer!!?

right, i've been known to do some crazy things, but when it comes to horses Whoa, lol. right well, i've been on the market looking for a horse for YEARS and yes many a time i have changed from foreward push button - slow steady - old quiet - young and trainable - THIS! lol but i got a 3yo mare a while bak(may) and this mare was young and settled, i really liked the idea of having to bring her on, and i asked my trainer and she said she has full trust that i can do it, so i went ahead and got her, but at this point she was the first horse we had for years at our farm, so there was no company for her, she got really unsettled and jumped out of the field, so we sold her back. <regret this EVERY day! :( Now, we have a 21yo 12hh mare that we agreed to adopt, and i love her. but i still want my own horse, i don't care how much(well mum and dad do..lol) Right to the point, i found this wee gelding: http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/horses/983156 now i've looked closely at ALL the pics and does it look like blood on his hind legs to you? I live in Northern Ireland, and he is across the border, and if im right the exchange rate into english pounds is £897. Now yes hears the crazy part, would i be wise in buying him, and getting him healthy(if he is bleeding) and training him? i have £1,200 saved up, so if i bought him, i could pay vet fees and training equipment and ask my trainer to help me break him! I've been riding since i was 6 and im now 16, i can walk, trot, canter, gallop, show jump 80, XC and done the odd hunt. I can do Join-up, T-Touch and a tiny bit of Parreli, and i can read a horses body lang. and personallity from its face. I work down at a riding stables, i have riden bucking, rearing, bolting, napping, and newly broken horses(newly broken inspired me :D..) i have also re-trained a 4yo ISH for my friend and im riding him at the moment! I also ride a 16.2hh irish hunter and i hunt, show-jump and do dressage with her. i have riden 20 different horses, and i have had some nasty scares and i have learnt how to respond in certain situations. i feel that if i did get this wee gelding, i would have an amazing bond, as he is only a year old and i could bomb-proof him to EVERYTING, instead of buyin a 6yo horse and tryin to make him suit me, i could mould this wee guy into the way i want him! i dno may be im just being crazy! thoughts and advice all welcome! and PLEASE the truth, no matter how blunt, i need to know! :) fanx!i am an animal lover, and i would have no problem taking him in and helping him! i have looked thru EVERY ad in that web page and i keep going back to him! i dno y! i feel i should do something and i feel drawen to him!awww i know..lol :) i wont be riding on his back till he's 4 or 3 at the least! :) theres somthing about him that is intruging me! i REALY wna go see him! im gna ask mum 2morrow as its 12 here at the moment! i realy like the look of him(face wise not looks) i always say that and then i go look and its not what i expect! lol its my birthday next week, nd i've already got that amount saved, i might ask for him, if he is suitable of course! :)right, we rang about him! :) nd he sounds ver quiet and the man says i can come up as many times as i want to look at him. The blood was from being gelded and he is still with his mum, so he says he is slowly weanin him from her at the moment, but he has been broken to halter and is leading well, and im goin to see him in a couple of days! :) more

Resolved Question: Please rate my poem for english 2?

Where I’m from I’m from the big grapefruit tree in our backyard; the adventures it would behold. I’m from a bowl of cold, sugared strawberries. I’m from cool, fresh sheets on the bed. I’m from the rumble of a plane passing overhead. I’m from the lullaby of a summer storm. I’m from the races to the heater on a cold winter morning. I’m from Easter egg hunts in the local park. I’m from playing in the sprinklers on a hot day. From getting my older brother into trouble for no reason. I’m from bicycle races down the street. I’m from free samples of fruit at Oakes Farms market. I’m from playing outside for 6 hours, coming in for a drink, and going back out to play. From the tantalizing smell of slow cooked home-made pot roast. I’m from the wild imagination of a 7 year old. I’m from birthday party sleepovers. From lemonade stands, and 20 bucks per lawn mowed. ($10 front yard, $10 backyard. Tip not included.) I’m from hitting little plastic golf balls in the front yard for hours at a time. I’m from fishing trips with the family. I’m from elaborate science fair projects that never work. I’m from building impenetrable forts in the living room. I’m from the smell of magnolia, and bougainvillea on a cool summer night in Alabama. I’m from dressing up nice for church, and changing into my play clothes as fast as I could after I got home. I’m from being happy to help out around the house, but if I was asked to do anything, you’d bet there’d be a fuss. I’m from testing out a new RC toy as fast as possible. I’m from sitting outside and watching the fireworks on the 4th of July. I’m from trips to the beach that lasted all day. I’m from being a straight A student, and hating every second of it. I’m from reading the comics every Sunday morning. I’m from getting up early to go golfing. I’m from the calm, serene feeling of sitting and reading a book, with a cup of coffee, in sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt, in a dim-lit house, on a cool winter night. I’m from singing along to every country song on the radio. I’m from listening to classical music, and playing piano and guitar, even though I can’t read music. I’m from shooting at empty soda cans with my dad and brother for hours. I’m from weekend flea market raids. I’m from getting up at the break of dawn to look for bargains at yard sales. I’m from getting sick far too often. I’m from a nice pot of home made chicken soup. I’d get sick on purpose just to have some. I’m from staying up late doing homework. I’m from golfing 8 hours a day. I’m from going on the computer until my eyes hurt. From a nice steak for breakfast. I’m from the nightly ritual of Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. I’m from Naples, Florida. more

Resolved Question: When did "Winchester-Western Duck & Pheasant Load" shotgun shells stop being sold as such?

Today I visited a farm and its new owners. I found a spent shotgun shell that appears to have been there quite some time. Red plastic, "W-W" headstamp, 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch, printed with "Winchester Western 6 Duck & Pheasant Load." I'm trying to come up with even a ballpark of how old it might be. I assure you I know less than nothing about guns or hunting, but I *do* know how to use the internet, and it appears that anything that used to be called "Winchester-Western" now is just called "Winchester." They have no products on their website with this name or anything close. I've seen collectible/vintage boxes of what appears to be this exact product for sale on eBay where the packaging looks kind of fifties-ish, but I can find no mention of a year on any of these sales. Can anyone narrow down the timeframe on this thing for me at all? Even if just to say "Winchester stopped using the Western name in 19XX" is better than the nothing I got now. Thanks! more

Resolved Question: FN Mauser, can't figure out what country it was made for though?

My brother in law purchased an old rifle at a garage sale for $100 and the seller couldn't tell him anything about it. He is now off to Marine boot camp and lent me the gun to use for deer hunting and getting the story on it as well. The gun is a Fabrique Nationale D'Armes de Guerre Herstal-Belgique (or FN). On the top of the breech is stamped a large "7.62" obviously for the calibre. Below that is stamped a crest with a six pointed star with rounded points (not quite a Star of David) within the crest is shown a armored hand holding a sword with ivy around it. On the bottom part of the crest are words in an very unfamiliar language, different characters completely. On the left side of the breech is the serial number and below that in tiny letters is stamped "Jud. Ent. Farm Ct.". Other distinguishing features include full wooden cover of the barrel, a clip site for bayonet (which obviously had been used, has a lot of wear) and pop-up rear site. I know it is a Mauser, but I'd love to know the story of what country it was made for? I found a online gun store sight selling a Venezuelan contract Mauser, but in the picture the crest wasn't the same one; so it isn't Venezuelan. Let me know! more
