Machine pieced and quilted quilts are worth less than hand quilted quilts. My Mom made quilts for a while. She had to go to doing them on the machine, this brought down the value considerably. She made some for my sister who bought the fabric for her. I do not know what my Mom got from sister selling them. She got a piece of the money. No one could know what, I never asked. My mother had a really bad back. She had cataracts. When they were finally removed, she could not crochet as she did before. She continued quilting, but had to quit. Being able to crochet, even intricately, does not mean one is employable. It depends on a lot of things. It could be used to intimidate, bluff, blackmail, harass someone, if they were a threat in any way. It could be used to get the upper hand on someone who knows where the bodies are buried. I have only one or two of her quilts which she machine quilted; they are tattered, not worth anything monetay, but I love them. They are not worth anything but to me. I had more of her things, including the hand crocheted tablecloth which took her a long time to make. She made one for each of us. Someone took them. My Mom was very hurt that the tablecloth was taken from us. The quilts Mom made all or most of her life were used on the beds for warmth. Does this mean she was able to work. No. Making one tablecloth, does not mean anything. There is the market, the expense, the time taken and how many she could make, profit. Disabled people are allowed to earn so much money. People on welfare are allowed so much income. There is overhead expense in any production.. She could make nothing in an amount to make a living or get enough money to make her not able to work, unless someone lied to get her into trouble. Then there is the stress of knowing you are making them for other people to be considered. Poor Mom. She took care of a blind husband who needed her at home. He could not live alone. She never got to go any where. She went to town once a month. He did not like church. He did not like going much of any where. They took a lot ofhassle off people. Could he walk a straight line? He was blind, completely. About their property. Yes. They bought a farm, the farm: The pet cemetery of pet cemeteries. It was rocks, hills, not much flat land. It would have taken a fortune to clear the land. We did not have it. It had only about three acres cleared, one of those was a lot of clay mud. There would have been the rocks , thickets , trees to remove. Cut the trees, not really valuable timber, only for firewood is all. That is where we got our firewood for the rest of our lives. Pull the stumps. Pay the people to cut the trees, pay to pull the stumps, fill it in. Pay to remove the huge rocks. Pay to level some of it. Pay to till it. Pay to plant and replant for several years cover crops to combat the red clay mud. Then , there is the matter of farm equipment rental...tractors, dozers, etc. We had none. These things cost a lot to run. So...their ground was very very cheap when they bought it. It did not sell for a lot. The house was a small two story frame home with siding. It had a cistern, not a well, we carried our water from a well.. It ws home. When we left we had electricity. We did not, for many years, nor did the neighbors. This was long ago. I spent l7 years there. The balance of my life, I did not live that way, until I was forced to go back and take help from a relative who was so impoverished that the only means she had to help me was to allow me to live in a shack on her property with no running water, no ac, only wood heat, no flushing toilette. I worked for five to six hours a day, min. wage, or slightly above, very slightly, for years. It was very painful work. I didn't have the money to do anything. I would rather die than to live like that. I had committed absolutely no crime. We were like most people in that country except the ones who lived in town, or had jobs. My Mom was a minority, very bad scoliosis. DAd was blind. We did not have it "good." You might supplement your income from selling quilts. The object is to say hand quilted and pieced are worth more, and you could send them to California, or somewhere. Knitting is the same way. I can sew, limited. I burned myself out winter before last. I hurt so bad I could not stand it. So, I have to do little bits at a time. Same with this. I can hunt and peck when I do this straight typing, it hurts my chest. The piano does not bother me. I am not on disability. If I do not want to work, I do not have to, on or off. I have not filed bankruptcy. I am not wanting to work. I have had enough abuse and I feel no guilt whatsoever when I do not work. I worked my entire life, hard, on the job and off, I deserve some peace and quiet. I am not a workaholic. I worked to have money to play, have comfort, luxury. I do not understand the warI do not understand the war to drag out my illness, I do not understand forcing me to work when I am not able. I apologize for the lack of proofreading here. I have bad vision problems. I have to buy two pairs of glasses to get one. That was the way it was when I was young also. moreResolved Question: Just HOW indebted are dems to repubs?
Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffee pot with water to prepare his morning coffee. Joe can afford the coffee because corporate loving rich Republicans exported our jobs overseas with NAFTA and CAFTA. With his first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication. His medications work because money-grubbing Republicans refuse to place price controls on drugs, thereby allowing pharmaceutical companies to earn enough money to pay for the extensive R&D and take the risks necessary to create miracle drugs. But the drugs still cost too much because government mandated health insurance has artificially increased the demand for medications with no one to police the prices, but that’s OK since Joe’s Bush-supporting bossman pays all but $10 of Joe's medications. In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient, none of which are damaging to his skin because some animal-hating sadistic corporations paid some scientists to swab the shampoo in some poor rabbit’s eyes. Just for kicks. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some dollar-worshipping conservative developers built some nice houses with pretty yards 15 miles from the industrial sector of the city, and Joe drives his comfortable and affordable “Japanese” car made in Georgia without the inflated cost of union labor, and Joe can stop on his way home to pick up a package of reasonably priced T-shirts at the evil Wal-Mart, instead of having to park his car and take a filthy subway to pay twice as much downtown. Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because his parents instilled in him the value of hard work so he studied when he was in school and learned that he could get by just fine without relying on the government. Joe's employer pays these benefits because Joe's employer knows Joe’s a valuable employee and Joe’s employer doesn’t want him to go work for his competitor. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get another job pretty quick because he’s a self-starting go getter who has a lot of friends at church and from college that he can call to find more work. It's noontime and Joe would need to make a bank deposit but doesn’t need to go to a bank because evil monopolist Bill Gates helped make computers useable to the general public and he can automatically pay bills thanks to the economies of scale of Bank of America or Wachovia installing the expensive equipment to allow Joe this convenience. While Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC, Joe doesn’t have to worry about Democrats in Congress pulling the rug out from under the real estate market again like they did in the 80s. At least Joe hopes they learned their lesson. Joe pays a low rate mortgage because Americans voted for that war monger Ronald Reagan in 1980 and Bill Clinton had the good sense to reappoint Alan Greenspan. And Joe can afford a nicer home, not only just because of the low mortgage rates, but also because he gets to keep more of his hard earned money because Republican Presidents in the 1980s and in 2001 cut his taxes. After work this evening, Joe plans to visit his father at his farm home in the country that Joe’s dad still owns because his landed-gentry Republican County Commissioners have refused to steal his land in the name of a higher tax base. Joe gets in his car for the drive because the government added additional lanes to the local highways that people actually use instead of throwing money away on a regional rail system that studies project people would little use. Joe gets to his house in record time because death-loving Republicans allow you to go 65 and 70 mph, and you can because pollution loving Republicans don’t make you plug your car in overnight so you can drive for 2 hours at a maximum speed of 20 mph. Joe arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house, but he doesn’t because when his grandparents moved to the United States they learned to speak English and didn’t spend their time complaining about how the government wasn’t doing enough for them. The house didn't have electricity until some military-industrial power company plopped a big ol’ nuclear power plant over by the river. Joe is happy to see his father, so they go to the local bar and enjoy a beer and a cigar, where Joe’s dad tells him that if the estate tax is repealed, Joe can keep the farm in the family for a fourth generation and won’t have to sell it to pay the taxes. Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on NPR. The reporters keep telling stories about how bad corporations only care about profit and that higher taxes will allow the government to “invest” in our future. They don’t mention that the beloved Democrats have vilified the very people who have provided us jobs, good and services from their sma moreVoting Question: Calculating Net Present Value (NPV)?
Archers Daniels Midland Company is considering buying a new farm that it plans to operate for 10 years. The farm will require an initial investment of $10,250,000. The investment will consist of $2,000,000 for land and $8,250,000 for trucks and other equipments. The land, all trucks, and all other equipment are expected to be sold at the end of 10 years at a price of $5 million, $2 million above book value. The farm is expected to produce revenue of $2,000,000 each year, and an after tax annual cash flow from operations of $1,744,000. The marginal tax rate is 35 percent, and the appropriate discount rate is 12.80 percent. Could someone please tell me the steps I need to do to solve this problem? I own a small ebay business and am wondering what I put down in the business net worth section, because I am confused by what it says: Business and/or investment farm value includes the market value of land, buildings, machinery, equipment, inventory, etc. Business value does not include the value of a small business that you (your spouse and/or your parents) own and control more than 50 percent and that has 100 or fewer full-time or full-time equivalent employees. Should I put the worth of my inventory or do I put 0.00, since I own the business by myself? moreVoting Question: Need Help Calculating Annual Net Working Capital and annual change in Net Working Capital Required?
Ok, so the following problem is a little long, but i am really confused. Here is the problem description: ABC company is looking to establish a tree farm. The farm is expected to be operational for the optimal life of the tree stand. The initial outlay required to establish the tree farm is $15 million. Of that amount, $1 million relates to the irrigation system, which is expected to have a useful life of ten years. At the end of the optimal life of the tree stand, the equipment will be scrapped. ABC expects to write off any undepreciated value (computed on a straight line basis) of the irrigation system at that time. The revenue from the farm will be realized on a one-time basis when the trees are cut and sold. The revenue to be received when the tree stand is cut is equal to : Revenue at time T = $10 million * (1 + T) ^ .50 , where T represents the age of the stand. The optimal life is the value of T that maximizes the value created by the project. Annual operating expenses will be negligible. ABC faces an income tax rate of 35 percent. The project will be financed with $5 Million dollars in borrowed money. The pretax cost of borrowing is estimated to be 8 percent and the required return on equity is 12 percent. Here is the question: Compute the annual net working requirements for your project, subsequently using those figures to compute the annual change in net working capital required by the project. Thanks for your help! moreVoting Question: A will stating "share and share alike" but the person to share is deceased, where does the remaining prop. go?
Between 2001 and 2003 my grandparents passed away. Their will stated that my mother and her brother were to "share and share alike". In 2004, they both divided some property, not of equal value, and cash equally, leaving farm equipment and land undivided. My uncle died in 2005. His will stated that his belongings were to be left to his wife. Between the two properties that were divided and deeded, the tax value of my uncle's share was an estimated $50000 more than my mother's share. Plus my mother cared for her father, who she brought to live with her, for the last 17 months of his life, at no charge to him. My aunt ( my uncle's wife) feels that the remaining acreage (est 63 acres of land) should be divided equally between the two (she and my mother). What is the law? Is she entitled to half the property even though the assets my uncle already received were far greater in value than what my mother received? And, does anyone know a specific law to reference to? Pilgrims Pride stated that they wanted to make the glut of chickens go away so chicken prices could be raised. To me that just is not right!!! This was in out local paper: Pilgrim’s Pride’s northeastern Louisiana employees and chicken growers were left in limbo today as the company remained quiet about the latest $60 million offer to buy the company’s Farmerville Processing plants. State Sen. Mike Walsworth, who has been joining daily meetings of Gov. Jindal’s Pilgrim’s Pride Emergency Task Force, said that there were no new developments today. Pilgrim’s Pride didn’t return calls or an e-mail requesting an update on the status of the company’s decision. Meanwhile, the Louisiana Workforce Commission has scheduled a series of meetings on Monday through Thursday for the 1,300 workers who will lose their jobs if the complex is closed as scheduled in April. The Workforce Commission will also open a transition center on March 24 at the Pilgrim’s complex for the workers, where services such as job placement assistance, job counseling, job search workshops, unemployment insurance and other supportive services will be offered. All Workforce Commission services are free. Jindal and his staff have been working to broker a deal for Foster Farms of California to buy the northeastern Louisiana Pilgrim’s operation, with Foster Farms putting up $20 million and the state investing $40 million. The governor said that Foster Farms would also invest about $50 million in new equipment and agree to keep the work force intact for at least five years. Pilgrim’s Pride, which declared bankruptcy in December to reorganize, rejected the first $40 million offer from Foster and the state earlier this week, but took the $60 million offer under consideration. “Discussions continued (Thursday) between Pilgrim’s Pride and Gov. Jindal and his staff regarding the future of the company’s Farmerville complex,” Pilgrim’s spokesman Ray Atkinson said in a written statement on Thursday. “A revised offer was formally presented to the company (Thursday), and several potential alternatives were also discussed. At this time no agreement has been reached and no offer has been accepted.” State officials said Pilgrim’s executives originally said the company valued the plant at between $65 million and $70 million. Jackson said the company is closing the complex because of a glut of chicken on the market. Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said this week he is looking into potential violations of Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices Act by Pilgrim’s Pride based on the possibility that the company could be trying to manipulate the chicken market by closing the plants. Caldwell spokesman Tammi Arender Herring said the attorney general is also investigating whether Pilgrim’s Pride is violating bankruptcy laws by holding up the sale of the complex. moreResolved Question: accounting help please...?

My grandpa doesn't work the farm he owns anymore and we are trying to find out how much some of his equipment is worth... He owns a John Deere 60, Farmall Model B, and a Farmall 400 with front end scoop. All were used to work the land, so they are not in ideal condition, as in they are rusted but they still start and function as they should. If you could give an idea as to what each is worth it would be appreciated. moreResolved Question: How's your grocery bill these days?
"According to U.S. government figures released earlier in March, grocery costs increased 5.1 percent over the past 12 months. The U.S. is undergoing the worst grocery inflation in close to 20 years, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts prices will climb another 3 to 4 percent this year... In all likelihood, food inflation will continue, driven by a number of factors, including the rising price of oil--hitting as high as $112 a barrel recently--which has raised the cost to deliver food and run farm and factory equipment; increases in the cost of farm commodities like milk, corn and wheat; and the declining value of the dollar, which is encouraging exports of U.S. crops and food products." My little cobalt was hit by a two ton truck hauling farm equipment. The guy was in the right lane, stopped, and then turned left into my car. From what I can see, the right front wheel has been crushed into my frame, and a good portion of my right front side has been rolled back. I have no idea what condition the axle is in, or if the car will even crank anymore. Some of the front frame is bent. The headlight is destroyed as well as half of the hood. The front passenger door is slightly off frame, but I have not tried to open it. I did try and open the right rear door, and it was difficult to close. The airbag did deploy on the driver's side. And for some reason, my trunk release doesn't work anymore. My car is a 2006. Valued at about 10,000 according to kelly blue book. I have GAP coverage, do you think it'll be totaled? And will it be his insurance's responsibility to pay my deductible, and pay it off if it's totaled or will my GAP coverage take care of it? moreResolved Question: Benazir Bhutto has Pakistan`s Welfare at heart? Agricultural Engineering Limited is a small, UK based, company that specialises in the manufacture of a wide range of special purpose agricultural equipment, usually individually made to order for a diverse customer base. The previous owner, now aged seventy, wanted to sell the business and retire. Five months ago, four of the twenty employees borrowed money against their houses and bought the company. The previous draughtsman bought 35% of the shares and now acts as Company Director with the production engineer, now Production Director, buying 30%, the inspector, now Quality Director, buying 20% and the storekeeper, now Logistics Director, buying the remaining 15%. The fifteen production workers were employed in their existing roles with no change of pay or conditions. Erfunden is a rural country relying principally on agriculture with thousands of small farmers each owning a patch of land that they cultivate, mainly by hand, to produce enough to feed themselves and have a little to sell at the local market. The country is technically a democracy, but several powerful families have undue influence on government policy. The minority (45%) government rules with a coalition made up of six out of the ten smaller parties with the opposition (35%) party constantly trying to split the coalition and form the government. The Prime Minister of Erfunden, wants to bring his country into the twenty-first century by improving the current very primitive farming methods, amalgamating many small farms into larger, more economic, units and concentrating on cash crops. As part of this plan he wishes to place an order with Agricultural for three hundred of their patented automatic ploughs at £6,000 each for delivery within twelve months. The value of this order is more than twice their usual annual turnover. With their current process layout and working practices, even concentrating exclusively on this order, Agricultural does not have the capacity to produce this quantity of ploughs within the timescale. The Production Director, however, believes that by concentrating exclusively on this order, moving the existing machines to form a product layout, buying a new 150 Ton press (which will require the existing floor to be locally strengthened and a new power supply installed) for £60,000 from a company in China, requiring the production workers to work more flexibly and working a six-day week they can meet the order on time. I have to Prepare the BUSINESS CASE for the Production Director’s project presenting the arguments for and against, including a stakeholder and risk analysis and looking at alternative ways they could meet this order. On the basis of your analysis what would be YOUR advice to the company and WHY. Assuming that they decided to go ahead: - i have to Prepare a detailed plan including a WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE and RISK MANAGEMENT PROPOSALS for the Production Director’s project including all aspects, not just repositioning of the machine tools and the installation of the new press.can any 1 able to help me out in this problem moreResolved Question: Any Way To Stop A Blasting Quarry From Moving Into My Residential Neighborhood?
I live in a small town (abt. 2000 people) in Maine, in a very quiet residential area. My family owns some land, which both my husband and I as well as my parents have homes on. A year or so ago a company put a gravel pit up against our property line. They have blasted a few times, which shakes our house and screws up our well, and move heavy equipment which makes an incredible racket. We can't believe at how the noise has changed the rural neighborhood we've always lived in. Now the company wants to expand the pit to 5 times its current size and start some deep quarrying with lots more blasting. Our town council tells us that our town isn't zoned, so there's really no such thing as a "residential neighborhood". Our property value (the only thing we really have) will come crashing down, and it will be deafening to just stand in our yard. We've worked so hard to start a small farm here - is there anything we can do to protect our neighborhood? moreTop Farm Equipment Values Links
