moreOpen Question: Do I have a legal case for negligence by a contractor?
Our ac unit was struck by lightening last summer. It was an older system & we opted to pay the extra $3800 & convert to a heat pump &also purchased a high effeciency furnace. We kept smelling a musty odor periodically that was highly concentrated in our kitchen & laundry area. Fast forward through fall, winter, spring now summer... 4 weeks ago. There are now hundreds of little flies coming through duct work and vents into our house. Mold has formed on all of our vent covers & the inside of a closet door & some of the jackets/coats in it. The smell is off the charts bad & my husband, myself, and our 13 and 5 yr old daughters have indoor allergies terribly (never before) (Our oldest daughter also suddenly develops asthma winter 2009) The eye doc tells me my 5 yer old has an allergy going on in her eyes & prescribes meds. Says the mold could've caused it. An MD ASKS me if we could have mold inour home last week at an appt for my often sick 13 yr old! I didn't even mention it! My husband decides to crawl under the house in the crawl space, where he is met with the condensation hose draining directly on the crawl space floor. water is in the duct work &dripping through a rusted out hole in a portion of ducting, the there is a mound of debris with bugs on it. He further investigates that area &finds a perfect hold drilled into a pipe that was apparently supposed to be for the condensation tube. because of the hole, the kitchen, dishwasher and garbage disposal waste has been leaking into the crawl space also. We call the contractor, he apologizes. Says he remembers being super busy last year & they did that intending to come back and finish the job. They never did. He sends a text (which I saved) apologizing & saying he'll fix it & make it right; no charge. He's told us twice he's coming out. No show both times. In the meantime, 4 weeks ago, a clean up company comes out and determines we need to take care of mold and water damage. $4100. Also, after this estimate, water comes pouring out of the back and bottom of the furnace into our garage. I video it & take pictures. The ins. adjustor wants us to sign & release them AND the contractor; but he's hasn't finished his job. We want another contractor to come out, assess the damage & finish the job, at the original contractors expense. I don't want to put this guy out of business but we have a mess here!
ps- the adjustor mentions 8/10/10. I couldn't figure that out until I realized the text we received from the contractor saying he'll take care of everything was on 8/10/10.

moreResolved Question: How to organize and decorate a large house on a tight budget. (Please read full description)?
Okay, so I'm 12 years old, and my mom's birthday is coming up in about a month. She says she doesn't want ANYTHING for her birthday, but I know she wants the house CLEAN and ORGANIZED. It's really important to her and the house is really messy! And I can clean it pretty easily but I really don't know 1)Where to start and 2)How to organize it and decorate it. We're on a tight budget right now because of the economy... My house is 4 stories! On the top floor is the Master bedroom and Master Bathroom, another bathroom (we only use this bathroom for getting ready,we don't shower in that bathroom because we have to get the plumbing fixed, that might sound weird because the sink works but the shower leaks for about 4 hours after you turn it off), my sister's bedroom, a small closet with alot of shelves, and a spare bedroom. (I was thinking of making that into my walk-in closet, because it used to be my room but i switched bedrooms, but if it can be used for another purpose then i wont). On the next floor, (the ground floor? I'm not sure but it's the one with the front and back door) we have the living room, the dining room, and a small kitchen. The kitchen is really small and it's really important to my mom because she loves cooking and everything so I want to make the kitchen really special. That floor only has 3 rooms because the living room is really big lol. And then the next floor has another living room which is a little bigger then the other one, (so basically, giant.) a bathroom/ laundry room, a small closet with no shelves, a guest bedroom, and the door to the garage. And in the basement (which isnt like a storage basement, it has rooms) there is a computer room, which is the size of the other living room, but it also has a walk in closet, and there's my bedroom, and then the boiler room. Please help!Oh and please don't think I'm bragging about my house because I'm really not trying to! I'm trying to tell the people that are going to help me how the house is set up for help with organizing!
moreResolved Question: Where to go on a date and what to order and how to do it Help Please? (Boys and Girls please me!)?
I am 21 years old, and I have never dated in my life. Also I have to know the answer to these questions before the right time comes please. I am actually going to list them in numbering form and also please answer them detail and in the same numbering form, and only answer the ones you could, to really help me out because its going to be my first time. (Points for every one).
1) When I ask a girl out on a Dinner/Coffee, should I ask her where she would like to go? or I just pick the restaurant/coffee shop?
2) Do I give her the Address/Time to meet me in that particular location, or I will pick her up? Also what if she is religious, hiding it from her parents or any other issues (for a while), then picking her up would be still okay or what? Also I might not know if she wants to hide it, or something, so what to do how should we meet?
3) If I am picking her up, do I get out of the car and knock on the door, or do I honk, or call her to come out of her home or give her a fixed time to meet me outside like in front of her garage or what?
4) Once arrived at the Restaurant/Coffee Shop, do I need to pick the same item on the menu that she has chosen or its okay to eat/drink something different.
5) If we are going to a restaurant, does it have to be some place to have Waiters? OR it could be a restaurant where there is no waiters, like you order and then come sit and they will bring it to you, OR like you can go order and then go pick it yourself when its ready. (Think of McDonald's).
6) Do you ask her what kind of food she likes/if she drinks coffee at all or not, like ask her before first date, I mean may be when you call her/in text message or something.
7) If you go to restaurant where they have beer or alcohol, I mean do they let you enter in the first place or they ask for idea? And if they let you enter for dinner or lunch, and then you decide to grab a drink from the bar and you are under 21, do they ask for ID on the bar or they just give it to you? In other words do they see ideas while entering in the restaurant (like a club) or they just ask for it if you order a drink or something.
8) What if you drink with your girl, then what to do? Like how to come home because you have your own car and can not be able to take a cab?
9) Can you guys please list some Restaurants/Coffee Shops good for the first date, like normal popular Restaurants/Coffee shops people date around America. (I mean off course you don't want to go the McDonald's on a first date, but what about Star Bucks, just name some).
10) Also I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and please name some Restaurants/Coffees shops around here if you live here. (But if not answer for what I have asked in question# 9).
P.S. Sorry for a long list, but I really want to know all of this.

Thanks for the info before... Here is another problem, same electrician. In my hallway, i have a switch to turn the light on or off, & at the other end of the hallway another switch to turn the light on or off. Now, i have to have the first switch, respectively, in the 'on' position (it wont turn on the light) so that i am able to turn the light 'on' or 'off' at the end of the hall. Same thing for the kitchen ceiling fan/light (turn on/off at entrance to kitchen or a garage door) and again with the patio light (turn on/off at patio door or at the front door). I have heard of something called a 2 way switch & am wondering if that would fix the problems?? Everyone was so great in helping me last time, i am hoping to get the same assistance again...before i call the painter, er, i mean the electrician back. Thanks in advance! alexandra

moreVoting Question: I am having problems with my neighbor?
We moved into our home on April 6th. On April 11th we had a delivery, so my husband parked his truck on the cuff of the cul-de-sac right by our driveway. The next morning he received a letter from our neighbor saying not to park in front of his house. A few days later, a code enforcement officer came to my home stating that he had a complaint that my basement window was broken, I had too many people living in my home and too many kids in my daycare (they said I had 7). I adviced him the window was broken before we moved in, only 2 adults and 5 kids lived in the house, and I had only 6 kids in my daycare. He asked me to get a letter notarized about the amount of occupants in the home and he gave me two weeks to fix the window. The next day he came back out because the grass was too high (someone was living her for 3 months prior to us moving in and he never cut the grass). He disregarded that one because we were getting the grass cut while he was here. I asked him if he had any complaints about the window or grass before we moved in and he informed us no. About a week later the inspector came back and said that he received another complaint that I had too many kids in my daycare. Now the complaint was I had 12. I informed the officer that was not the case. Why add more kids when they only allow me to have a limit of 6 and knowing that someone was complaining about the daycare why make things worse for me. He looked inside and saw the kids and left. In June a new code enforcement officer came to my door about having the daycare and now I had 10 kids. I explained the same thing to him. He said he had read the casefile and it just appeared that the neighbor didn't want the daycare open. He left. On the 10th of August a new officer came by and said he received a complaint that I was running a daycare and had too many kids. WHen he asked him how many kids I supposedly had he said the person didn't say. He said because of all the complaints, I was going to get a citation. I had two choices, to pay the citation or go to court. If I went to court the witness would be able to provide pictures as evidence. I told him that I wanted to put a stop to it once and for all so I chose to go to court. When I called the office to see if I could change the court date the young lady informed me that I could go online and see the complaints that had been filed and the pictures. I went online and saw all the complaints but no pictures. While reading the last complaint, I saw that not only am I being accused of having too many kids, but also about my garage door coming off the hinges and the amount of people living in my house. To make things more complicated, anytime someone comes to see me, they park in the cul de sac by my house. This same neightbor calls the local authorities. The authorities are saying that he can't do anything because we are not blocking his driveway or his mailbox (which was the excuse he was using. He wasn't able to get his mail. But no one was blocking the mailbox and it was on a Sunday that he called one time). When we moved in I went to each neighbor and introduced myself, but this man was very cold. He wouldn't even shake my hand. I don't know what we did to him but he just doesn't want us here. He has even gone as far as telling one of my other neighbors that he is going to contact a lawyer to sue the people we bought the house from. At this point I am thinking it might be a racial thing. Two of my neighbors have had home daycares and he has never complained about them. On top of that the subdivision that we live in do not have a HOA so there are no rules against having a daycare.
Can anyone suggest anything??? Please
p.s sorry for making story so long but I figured if you had all the info it would be easier to give me an accurate answer. Thanks again!
moreResolved Question: Tips for fixing up a house?
My sister's renting out a house with some of her friends & are moving in in about a month, & it's in bad condition. tiles are cracked, only 1 window has a screen, skylight's bent open, fleas everywhere, side door doesn't close(outer door), nicest room is in the garage, ceilings are smoke-stained(from smoking), walls are extremely dirty, cat hair everywhere(even on walls & ceilings), living room's wall has a huge crack in it, & some of the wood is rotting, just from what i observed.
The landlords are helping to fix it up, but i'm going over tomorrow to help clean it up, & it would help to have some good tips to help fix it up a bit.
moreResolved Question: Strange sub problem , need help !?
Hello all !
I recently bought a sub,an amp,all the wire and a RCA adaptator (cause im still using my stock radio) for my G5 but it was installed by someone refered by a friend.(All items was 1 year old)
It worked well for a month but today when I woke up I had a bad surprise: car wasnt starting.
The Car lock icon and the OBE II (or watever its called saying there is a technical problem that need to be fixed) showed on my dash and the car was not starting at all.
I called road assistance and they boosted me wich made the car to start O.o
The guys at the garage told me that my sub was not installed properly and it can make my battery explode..
The guys who installed the sub used the 2 wire from the 2 rear speaker and I dont even know if he grounded it >.>
Ive also noticed that sometime when I close the door while the car was off the sub was like rumbling for 3 sec and then shut off, also when disconnecting all the wires to make sure that sub and amp wont drain battery while away (like what happened today) Ive noticed that amp was also open while car was off and I do not have any concentrator(I know I need one , ill get one tomorow)
Another problem is that when I start my car with the key in,I can remove the key and the car will still run and im able to drive and to turn it off i just put the key back in and I turn it off.
So basicly I will go to futur shop to get a condensator and to make them check and re-do the wiring task to make sure its ok this time.
So to resume:was my sub not installed properly ? Is the key problem is in fact because of the sub wiring ? and how i can fix those problem.
Car model: G5 2008
Thank you !
moreResolved Question: Craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener?
I am trying to fix our garage door and I have no lights on either sensor lit up. On the other door one sensor is orange and one sensor is green. When the line is broken the green light goes out and the door goes back up to avoid closing on someone/something. However, the orange light stays on. How do I get the orange light to come on? I assume once the orange light is on it will make the green light turn on once the sensors are properly aligned. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
moreVoting Question: How do I deal with my upset mother?
Usually, I don't resort to posting my personal problems on the internet and expect strangers to hand me out advice, but I don't have a lot of help to resort to at the moment.
Yesterday morning, I woke up to what I was expecting to be any other day. It wasn't until later that I heard loud bumping noises and a few pots and pans crashing in the kitchen. Then I discovered my mom yelling at my sister about something, but I didn't want to pay it any mind. After grabbing a bit of breakfast, I went back to my room and decided to do a bit of gaming to take my mind off the drama going on in the house. A little later afterwords, my mom, screaming at me from the bottom of her lungs, called me from my room and ordered me to do chores. Wash dishes, vacuum the carpet, clean the litter box, etc. Sure, I was fine with doing these things, but it was the fact that she was upset that made it harder and stressful for me. While I was doing so, she again, yelled at me for not washing some of the vacuum utilities when she never told me anything in the first place. I started to argue with her for a short time. Though in the end, she repeatedly told me to shut up and keep working. I told her not to push me, she threatens to break some of my stuff in my room and ended it again by pointing her finger at me and telling me to shut up once more.
While she was also busy cleaning the house, she does other unnecessary actions. Drags and even kicks some of our cats and probably the dog out into the yard, breaking a few dishes, and throwing out random junk from her room and storage from the garage. The garbage bin was empty until it got full from doing that. The doors in the house were practically slamming shut here and there due to my mom's behavior rubbing off on my sister as well. All of this made me tense and filled with more stress throughout the entire day.
My dad on the other hand, tried to stay out of the house and avoid all the drama. He was in the garage trying to fix the car. I asked how he can deal with this and all that was said was "She's gone crazy again. What can you do?". Though he was calm, he did little to nothing to settle matters. He even ended up getting thrown out of their bedroom and sleeping on the couch that night.
The whole act didn't stop yet. Today, I was skeptical in believing she had cooled down any and hesitated going out of my room. I didn't want put up with her again, so I stayed in my room the whole morning. It wasn't until this afternoon that I discovered that I was right and she still went on with her unstable mood. There was a couple furniture knocked over, some dishes scattered in the living room and kitchen, trash in the sink despite the trash bin is right underneath it, and a few more broken dishes. She ran into me, went into drama queen mode, ordered me to pick up the mess SHE made, wash the dishes, and clean the shelves below the TV even though there was hardly any sense in doing so since it came off as a pointless chore. Yet again, continuing with her door slamming and walking about. My dad is still not home from wherever he left off this morning.
And here I am typing this while she's locked up in her room sleeping the day off.
I don't know how she got like this all of a sudden. She was fine the night before. Or so I thought.
She does act like this on various occasions, but not this violent on frequent. I didn't notice anything unusual happening that week either nor the weeks before.
I'm at the end my rope here. There's nothing much I can do but put up with it, however this is simply inexcusable. No matter how much a person is going through, it shouldn't justify their actions for putting others in a miserable state as well. There's no reasoning with my mom at this point. All she'll do is point out all my faults in my life and say she's better than I in almost every aspect. She does have a habit of yelling at us to get any point across. Can't form a disagreement without lighting her short fuse first.
I apologize for making this so long. It's been a stressful life living with her and I can't get in much good moods when she's around. What do any of you think should be done about this situation if you were in a similar spot?

I am trying to fix our garage door opener. The sensors on the door frame are not lit up at all. What do I need to do in order for them to light up? The door will open with the remote or wall button but will not close. You can close it with the wall button but you must hold it down until it is entirely closed. This is to do with the sensors no doubt so how do I activate the sensors properly?

moreResolved Question: Is my dad being lazy?
My dad, mom, and me are driving to a casino/resort tomorrow. But we have to get the car fixed. On Tuesday, he said he's going to get it fixed, but my cousins (4 and 6 yrs. old) came over so he had to stay home the whole day to watch them. On Wednesday, he drove me to get it fixed but the place was so crowded so he said we'll come back later. Around 4:00, I asked him and he said he'll do it tomorrow.
On Thursday, my friend called and asked me to go to the mall with her. My dad said he'll drop me off at her house and then he'll get the car fixed by himself. When I came home that day (around 8:00) I asked him, "So, how's the car?" He said I didn't do it yet.
I woke up at 10 today and he was cleaning out the garage. He finished cleaning at noon. Then I told my dad, "It's so hot. I don't want to go outside. Can you go by yourself?" Besides, I have an embarrassing pimple on my face, and I don't want to be seen in public with it! He doesn't answer so I took that as a yes. At 1:00 I asked him, "Are you going?" And then he gets all mad at me and says, "Well you don't want to go. You should've told me earlier so I could go by myself." It's just 1:00! I don't think it takes that long to get our car fixed. It's still running fine, there's just problems with the door.
My mom has to go to work, so she can't do it. We're leaving tomorrow! How are we gonna go if the car isn't fixed yet? Is he being lazy and blaming it on me? Or is it somehow my fault (like he says)?

an auto body shop bartered a 4-wheeler with a newly rebuild engine on it to pull out a few dents, sand down a replaced rocker on our truck. they further stated they would primer it for the trade of the 4-wheeler plus an additional $100. they owner was given the 4-wheeler and did a visual inspection of the truck and stated he would do it for the trade +$100. the garage had the truck for 4 weeks and thru multiple phone calls still instisted they only wanted $100 plus the atv. one hour prior to picking up the "finished" truck we received a call from the owner saying he was keeping the truck ($16,000 value) if we didn't give him $800 cash alleging the atv didn't have any of the work done on it that we stated. he even said the atv ran perfect. he forced us to pay him $800 out of fear that he would destroy our engine stating he would sue us though we provided proof of everything we told him about the atv as being true(receipts and all). he further had multiple contacts with us up to the very day we were to pick up the truck. we picked the truck up, one of the dents was not even touched and we were told that there was no way to fix it, the rocker was sanded on one part the other part was not touched, the primer wasn't done inside the door jams because "they use a sprayer and didn't want to spray our interior." the bed of the truck and the top of the truck has been primered but is flaking. what is our recourse?thanks for the tip.

Ok here we go this is all over the net.
1997 Chrysler Town and Country has a starting problem. It starts up fine for 2 to 3 weeks. Then it just won't start. I was fixing by disconnecting battery let set for 20 minute to 2 hours then it start. Not a fix but did in a pinch. So had a garage diagnose it said it was body control module (BCM). couldn't see getting a new one as i just put a transmission in it. new ones ran $760 from dealer, rebuilt ones were $350, but no one could get one. So he said get a used one. Put used one in ran for same amount of time. So was researching online found that instrument panels had bad solder joints on it. Pulled gauges out they had no cracks on the solder joints reinstalled. same ran for 2 to 3 weeks. talked to a mechanic that a chrysler mechanic said if one of the doors don't unlock with remote then it sends a code to alarm saying door may of been popped open and stolen. went and checked and sure enough drivers door wasn't unlocking bought an actuator was for slider only. and drivers door had to buy latch and all, but no one has it new. headed for junkyard to find a used one this week. anyone else have any suggestions so i can make one trip to yard for parts.

Maybe a teensy little bit…” I grumbled and sat next to him on my bed.
Gavin Riley was my best friend. We told each other everything and had been best friends since kindergarten when he moved in next door. We had been practically inseperable ever since I walked over with snicker doodles to welcome them to the neighborhood. As luck would have it, the windows in our rooms were facing each other! Gavin and I had set up a nifty little system where we could send notes back and forth on a clothesline strung between them, using clothespins to hold the notes. We made it a habit to check the line every day for notes.
We lived in the small town of Jamestown, Massachusetts. Just a little kind of place. You know, where everyone knows everyone? It’s about an hour and a half, maybe two hours to Boston, depending on traffic.
Gavin still didn’t know I liked him. As a little more than a friend. It just seemed natural, we knew each other so well! But last month he had started dating Shay Toledo and I’m not the type to steal another girl’s guy. Or I wasn’t, anyway… So he didn’t know.
It was Friday night, and we were supposed to be studying for English class together, because we were both in 10A (Tenth grade Advanced) together, but of course I had already read Great Expectations by the time Gavin found the assignment at the bottom of his bag. He’s really smart, but it takes him a while to write and read because he hates doing it and procrastinates like crazy. But I have to admit, he’s very good on a deadline, and even if his work is last minute, it’s always great. So I was at my Mac typing up my report while he was finishing the book on my bed.
My parents were upper-middle class. We had money for computers and stuff, and we have three cars, but that’s just because that’s how many people here drive. My dad, Evan Ryans, my mom, Trisha Holden-Ryans, and my brother, Ian Ryans. He just turned 17 and got his own car. When I get to drive in a year, I’ll get my own car, too. Luckily there’s room in the garage for two cars, and two outside or we’d have to compete for a space! And I would definitely lose that competition. We have nice stuff, but we have to ask before getting anything new and we usually don’t.
Let me take a couple of moments to talk about my family. It is crazy living with them. Mom is a Democrat, Dad is a Republican, and Ian wouldn’t vote even if he were old enough. He dresses in black all the time and listens to sad music. I swear I have seen cut marks on that boy’s wrist. In keeping with their political views, Dad has a Jeep Wrangler , Mom’s got a Hybrid Prius, and Ian has a Sting Ray (black, of course). I wonder if I’m the only one there that’s normal. (I would want something sensible, like a BMW or an Acura)
My clock’s hand moved closer and closer to the half-past nine mark. (Yes, I still have an Analog clock, whatever!) I waited for the inevitable creak of springs and the sigh. “I have to go home, Shay’s gonna call soon.” I heard Gavin say.
Let me tell you about Shay- she’s Gavin’s total you-know-what of a girlfriend. Everyone can see how bad she is for him…except he himself! She’s very jelous and overprotective, but it’s not because she cares about him. She just thinks of him as another accessory in her huge collection.
Shay always calls him at 9:35 every night and he has to answer or she’ll come by to make sure he’s okay. I think she just does it to spy on him, personally. It’s happened before. Gav and I were playing Jenga (our favorite game ever!) and he missed her call. The next thing I know, she’s ringing my doorbell. I had opened the door and she had said “Do you know where Gavin is?” I guess she thought I had seen him go somewhere since I lived next door or something. I didn’t have to answer, though, because his voice rang out. “Hey, Jez, who’s at the door?”
Shay’s eyes widened and then shrank into slits. She pushed past me, grabbed his arm, and towed him out the door. He’d been very good about getting to the phone in his room (the only one Shay calls, even though she knows he has a cell) on time since then.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. He usually loves talking to her. “Just tired of drama.” he said. He got up, waved goodbye and walked down the stairs. I heard my dad ask him if he was staying for dinner, but of course, nothing could sway Gavin from getting to the phone lest his mega-snot girlfriend dump him. Shay’s phone calls usually lasted about ten minutes, so I grabbed a pen and jotted down a note to sAh, dang it cut off the rest of the chapter! Thanks for your help, I'll work on it.
moreResolved Question: How do i deal with a dog running away?
So my cousin and I rescued a dog that was roaming the streets in the Valley. He was a Toy Poodle that was seriously neglected. He was filthy and matted and was searching for food. So we decided to take him hom with us. We gave him a nice bath and cliped off most of his matts and he smelled a lot better. The poor thing was so dirty, he had dog feces on his coat and seemed as if he hadn't been bathed in months or a year! He looked like a new dog, we gave him a bowl of dog food and water. He slept in the garage with a couple of blankets and a dog bed. Our plan was to get him fixed and find him a nice home or give him to a no-kill shelter. My grandpa opened the garage door, not knowing the dog was in there. He ran away and we got in the car searching for him all over the neighborhood. He is no where to be found. I feel horrible! What should I do now? How can I deal with this?
moreResolved Question: Is an apartment complex responsible for theft due to their negligence?
Since Sunday I have requested that my apartment complex fix my garage door lock (on the large door). I have had my garage broken into once and my car broken into 3 times. Since it is now 5 days after the initial request and the manager is not returning my calls or answering, I was curious, will they be responsible for any loss or damage that may be incurred should someone decide to break in and steal any of my things? I live in California if that makes a difference.

moreResolved Question: If you catch someone molesting your child, what are the odds that they will get convicted of pedophilia?
Three years ago, I became very ill with a disease and was bedridden. My grandparents had to take care of me and my 1yo daughter. I sometimes slept for 2-3 days in a row without waking up. One day, my bedroom door at my grandparents house was cracked open and I heard my 1yo yell "mama" twice. I could tell something was wrong by the sound of her voice. I was half asleep, but managed to run into their living room where she was at. I found my daughter and my grandpa in the living room alone. He had her faced away from him as he was squatted down behind her as his left hand was deep down the back of her jeans. I could see his hand and arm moving up and down and he used his other hand to prop himself up on the floor. He is hard of hearing, so he didn't notice me standing there, staring at them, confused. Once he noticed me, a few seconds later, he quickly jerked his hand out from the back of her jeans and then laughed and without me asking for an explanation, he said he was fixing her diaper. I grabbed her and took her into the bedroom and when I removed her diaper, I saw blood and cum on the surface of her diaper. My grandma came in and asked what was wrong and I explained to her what had happened. I was so sick with my disease and couldn't hardly stand up, so I told my grandma to watch my daughter and don't leave her alone with my grandpa. She agreed. He groomed me so well, that I knew something wasn't right, but absolutely couldn't believe he would do such a thing. Every time my grandpa would do something odd, my grandma would say "that's just grandpa", so after hearing this my whole life, I started telling myself this same thing. I didn't tell anyone what had happened or what I saw besides my grandma. Several months later, my sister, who had been going to a therapist for the last two years at that time, came to me and said she started remembering my grandpa molesting her when she was younger. Once she started remembering this, she remembered more and more. At that point, I still wasn't sure if she was remembering correctly, like I said, he was smart and groomed us. Once I started feeling better, I started watching him and he would wait until I was busy helping my grandma in the kitchen and then lure my daughter into another room. He would go into the other room and use the doorway to play peek-a-boo and if that didn't work, he used a ball or a toy. I started to remember stuff as well from my childhood and thing is that he would start out by tickling me. To make a long story short, as soon as I realized my grandpa was indeed a pedophile, I took my daughter and we left. I confronted him later on and he denied it, but also hung himself by his words. He would always talk about how much he despised pedophiles when they would show them on the News, yet when I confronted him about being one, he asked me what a pedophile was. I explained its a child molester and he asked what a child molester was. He obviously knew what a child molester/pedophile was, because he voluntarily went to the courthouse to get my sister a sex offender registry list. I believe he got that list, to find other pedophiles in the area. I want to turn him into the police, but I don't know if they will do anything. I recently asked my grandma if she remembered my daughter's diaper having blood and cum in it and she does remember it, so i wasn't dreaming. Also, when I was 19yo, I caught my grandpa looking at photos of children. When he saw me behind him as he was viewing the photos, he laughed and put them back in the shoebox and stuck them behind the huge furnace in their furnace room. I wanted to see exactly what he was looking at, so I watched him closely and when he went into the bathroom, I ran into where he hid the shoebox of pictures, but the pictures were gone. When he came out of the bathroom awhile later, my grandma told him "they're in the garage!". I think she has been covering for him and known about him this whole time.I remember other things, but I don't really want to get into it. So basically, my grandma is angry at my sister and me for figuring out their sick secret and is talking bad about us to the whole family. My family is mad at us, because we are giving our family a bad name and they don't believe us. Even though they know I am a good person and would never accuse anyone of something so serious unless I am 100% certain that it's true. Should I go to the police? My inheritance is at stake here and it's about $18 million dollars divided three ways. They have money and money means power.

moreResolved Question: Older Cat behavior problem. How to fix?
I have a 15 year old Maine Coon. He has been both an outdoor cat (the first 6 years of his life), and an indoor cat (the remainder). He is an alpha male (to the extreme) and hates other animals in his space. So, we don't have other pets. Other than aggression towards other pets he has been perfectly sweet his entire life. However, as he is advancing in age he is starting to develop some bad habits that desperately need fixing.
We keep his litter box in the garage (always have) and he stays there when we are gone. We keep it clean. When he is inside he lets us know that he needs to use the litter box by sitting at the door. He has been very good about that. From time to time he would sit at the door and no one would notice (or he would be inside for some reason and no one would be home) so he would go into the bathroom and do his business either in the tub or on the vinyl. Not ideal, but considering it could be in the carpet we don't complain. We are the ones to blame. It hasn't been a regular issue.
However, over the past year or so he has been doing this more and more. He has taken a liking to using towels and clothes in the bathroom as places to pee. He will even sit at the door, we'll open it for him, he will walk away from it, and 10 minutes later be in the bathroom peeing on a towel. When he had his last blood-work done his kidney levels were a little bit high, but not outside the normal range (he had also been sick and not ingesting many fluids either). The vet said there was nothing to worry about.
What can we do to fix this behavior problem? It's happened twice in the past week! Once today! He's getting quite old, but he's also extremely healthy for his age. It's awful! And I mean... he's a big cat so he pees a lot!!!!! Haha.
moreResolved Question: How can I convert a playhouse into a bedroom?
It will take a lot of work! I'm not going to do it anytime soon because it needs a door and the roof fixed (a storm had a limp fall on it). Once it is repaired, I want to give my little brother his own room (he shares with the sunroom in the back of the house) and since I won't be living at home except every other weekend and summer, I won't need the room, plus I DO NOT want to share with my little sister.
Anyways :P
The playhouse is really small, (Width is about 5 feet and length is 10 maybe?) but that's okay because all I do in my bedroom is lay in bed and read. So all I need is a bed, storage, light, and I'm good. I can get electricity from the garage.
1) I need a bed of some sort that I can fold up so it only takes up room from when I'm sleeping. I have something like that, so I *might* use it.
2) How can I keep bugs out?
3) How can I get used to sleeping in it?
4) Any tips on making it roomy?
THANKS(:**It's also about 5 feet tall (the inside)
Yeah it's small but I won't be in it a lot :P***I'll say one more time.. THIS IS A PLAYHOUSE. not a dorm or house. It is very SMALL.
moreResolved Question: What are your thoughts on this?
After being in the music business for 52 years it's just about all I know; anything at all about--and in keeping with my admittedly narrow knowledge--I would like to draw an analogy concerning the Obama administration, viewing things from my vantage point.
Ok, let's say you pick out the finest symphony conductor in the world, add the greatest singer and seven or so of the finest classical musicians on the planet.
You get them together backstage and say, "Alright, there are twenty thousand fans out front, standing room only, expectations are off the charts, they are looking for the best show they've ever seen.
Now the curtain goes up in five minutes, the sound has been checked out, the lights set and everything is perfect, the stage is set for the greatest show the world has ever seen.
Now get there and knock 'em out guys! They're all with you; you're all superstars in their eyes. Go show 'em how it's done.
Oh, there's only been one change. Tonight you have to do your show playing songs you've never played and you'll have to improvise. There's no sheet music. You'll just have to jam."
Can you imagine the panic backstage?
You see, some of the very finest musicians on earth can't jam a lick. I remember a few years ago when I had a couple of young fiddle players come on stage with me and play "The South's Gonna Do It Again."
They had learned the parts I'd played on the record, arrangement, lead lines and all and played it perfectly note for note.
Everything was going swimmingly until I decided to leave the arrangement and jam for a while. When I turned to one of them and told them to take a solo the kid was as lost as a baby sheep in a hale storm.
They had no more idea about improvising than they did about how to build a spaceship.
"The South's Gonna Do It Again" is a simple twelve bar blues song that any musician from any garage band would be able to take a solo on, but even though these kids were extremely talented and played what they knew perfectly, when it came to jammin, they were totally lost. They had just never learned to do it.
To me the presidency is kind of like jammin'. You have to roll with the flow, improvise, adapt to the moment, pick up on what's going on and deal with it.
Our president has never had to jam, he's always had the sheet music in front of him and he's never had to play a note somebody else had not written for him.
One of the biggest mistakes President Obama made when he came in office was to surround himself with a bunch of players who had never jammed either. None of them have ever had any practical experience in the real world.
In essence, they are a bunch of paper tigers, they do an incredible job of spending other people's money and sneaking legislation through the back door, but out in the real world, where there are no scripts, down where the rubber meets the road there is probably not a person in the bunch who could change a flat tire, much less deal with the complex problems America faces.
The only thing Obama has done with any problem that has arisen is to throw money at it, and in truth, that's sadly all he knows how to do.
When it comes to dealing with things that money alone won't fix like busted oil pipes at the bottom of the ocean or solving the problems on our southern borders he's lost and all those around him are lost.
The Obama cabinet is the most inept bunch imaginable. When people have only viewed the world from the top of an ivory tower they don't react very well when it's time to get their hands dirty.
Obama's people can't even accept real world concepts of the dangerous situations we're dealing with. Eric Holder wanting to try terrorists in civilian courts, in New York City of all places is nothing less than naïve arrogance.
Janet Napolitano's gross inexperience in dealing with security matters is going to end up costing this country dearly.
Putting an unqualified person who has never even been a judge on the bench of the highest court in the land, for nothing more than her political leanings is insanity.
Everywhere you look you see eggheads with nothing more than a college degree to qualify them for the sensitive jobs they hold.
I'm just wondering how long it will take for a majority of the people in this country to realize that the wheel that steers the direction of this nation is in the hands of people who have no idea how to get from point a to point b without a roadmap and that road map just doesn't exist. Every trip is different.
I see disaster looming on the not too distant horizon, financial disaster, increasing danger from terrorist attack, unabated violence in the streets and an arrogant and unmanageable illegal alien population.
It's coming folks and Obama and the band are still in the dressing room looking for t

moreResolved Question: Issues after closing on home...possible meth-lab home!!!?
My husband and I purchased a home on May 3rd 2010. Prior to closing we had a written agreement that the sellers were to fix a giant hole in the drive-way prior to closing. The week leading up to closing did nothing but rain and the morning of closing the hole had still not been fixed. We were assured by our realtor that this would be competed as soon as the weather cleared. It is now July 30th and after MONTHS of nice weather there has been no word on the drive-way. The sellers also did not provide all keys or garage door openers and we are out the expenses to re-key all locks and re-set the garage doors. The sellers even had the audacity to come by the house about 4 days after closing to "look for their mail". We also found out after meeting the neighbors that the sellers were meth dealers and we have had to strip all of the walls and flooring from the home so no one would get sick. Where do we go from here? We thought we could sue but we don’t know what is reasonable and what is not even if we do.
Additionally, when the carpet was pulled up it looked like they had been slaughtering livestock upstairs. The carpet was completely bloodstained and the subfloor was destroyed. We are afraid of what other activities could have gone on in the house. We love our home and would like to be able to live it in without wondering if it is safe to be in it or what we might find as we pull things out.

The front door is falling off the hinge, the garage door broke down, the sliding door wheels are rusting, the dish washer had a seizure and died. These are all things to be expected of a 30 year old home, right? Even with light use these things just happen over time. I've been living at this house for 4 years and when I report that something has broken down to my 80 year old landlord he always replies "you used it too much.." If for some reason I convince him otherwise he tries to fix these things himself and i'm sure you can imagine the result of that..
What grounds do I have in this situation to call BULLSH*T?? What are my rights as a person leasing this property? What falls into the renter's responsibility and the rentee's responsibility? The front door has been falling off of it's frame ever since I moved in as well as a few other doors in the house and he attempted to fix it and failed. He tried to fix it in such a way that the screws wont even hold into the wood because of someone doing a a job he shouldn't had been doing and damaged the frame. The door often gets stuck now..
Did I break that or did time and 30 years of half assed maintenance break it?

and my husband practically started taking care of the building (the landlord approved it). Since then, he had done work around the building and now, the landlord wants to pay for his services, but as you can imagine, this is not his regular line of work. He did an excellent job and kept the receipts for the materials he bought, but he needs help figuring out how much should he charge. He did/fixed the following: 1) fixed a garbage disposal in one of the units 2) took down some old mailboxes (5) and install brand new ones 3) patched, sanded and painted one wall in one of the apartments
4) deep cleaned the carpet of a single after the tenant left 5) replaced the net for 2 window screens
6) built and installed 3 window screens 7) changed light bulbs around the building 8) patched a crack on an outside wall 9) replaced some vents under the building 10) replaced a light fixture in one of the garages 11) placed some animal repellent under the building to avoid having dead animals while the vents were being replaced 12) cleaned a bachelor's after the tenant left 13) changed/replaced door handles or door locks 14) showing available units/apartments to possible tenants 15) receiving and making phone calls to/from interested prospects 16) drove his truck for 2 hours, picked up a piece of furniture and brought it back to one of the apartments, including loading it and unloading it 17) installing a screen door 18)installing a medicine cabinet.
If you have an idea, I would really appreciate your help. If you can write the charges according to the action, better yet. Then, should he give the landlord the receipts and charge for the total of materials cost and then for labor? Or should he charge one whole amount (including materials and labor?)
Thanks so much!!
moreResolved Question: What can I do if my car insurance company denied my claim for inconsistency in my report?
Im going to lay down what happened and I would appreciate your opinion. It started when my 2007 gs eclipse clutch gave out the dealership close to my house wasn't a very professional looking place when it came to their shop they mistreated the cars that where there and had old rusted cars parked in their lot. So, I did not want to get it repaired there, I made a big fuss with mitsubishi but after sitting the car in my lot for 2 months I lost my job and I had to get it fixed there anyway cause of warranty issues and I needed my car to look for another job i'm a truck driver that's why it took 2 months and my car had 7000 miles on it i hardly ever used it. I noticed that after I had it back the cruise control wasn't working I didn't take it back because of the fear of something worse happening to it. My mom suggested that I get repair by my cousins husband so my mom handed me her cell phone called him and told me to bring it in the morning because he worked all day til 7pm and if i couldn't get to him to leave the key under the plant in front of the garage door (that call was on 6-24-09). I tried to get there early enough (6-25-09) but i missed him and no one was home so I placed the key under the plant and left I told the police officer that I had made a call to him after dropping the key but the phone number to reach him was on my moms cell phone. I thought I did I couldn't remember because I came back a day later for the car. After I walked home I thought id leave it there a day so he could find the problem, since he gets home at 7pm. When I got there on 6-26-09 my car wasn't there and they said they never saw it there so i called the police to see if it was towed it wasn't and the key wasn't there either, police came over and took my statement but on the report he stated that the car was stolen on 6-26-09 and the phone number I used to call to tell them I was leaving the car there was written down wrong. The insurance company said that the inconsistencies where that I did not use my cell to make a phone call on the 6-24-09 or 6-25-09 I told them that i used my mothers cell phone in the oath recorded meeting they recorded my statement a week after i reported my car stolen and i failed to tell them i used my mothers cell phone but they didn't ask and I also told them I called when I placed the key under the plant but I was confused because I had called my cousin twice on 6-24-09. I never failed to make a payment on any of my bills and i have good credit score I'm in fact almost done with my car payment. They also brought to my attention that I tried to sell the car but i have proof that i've been trying to sell my car since 2008 and there was a buyer and i have his emails that offered to buy my car with a $1000.00 profit for me. please tell me what do think i should do about this situation?ans. 1l: I got a loan from the bank to purchase the car in jan 1-07 ans 2: I have full coverage still paying the monthly payments from insurance theft, comprehensive bank would not give me the loan otherwise ans 3:car was parked on public street in front of my cousins house I locked and windows where rolled up car had automatic lock after 5 mins also. ans 4: My cousins house has a fenced in lawn the entrance to access the lawn and to the front door is through the drive way in front of the car garage door I heard that if its a fenced in lawn your allowed to release your dog in the front lawn so I think its private ans 5 & 6: I called the police 6pm 6-26-09 I did not manage to get police info but im sure its in the report ans 7: I did get a police report insurance company asked for and I provided right away but it seems they only gave me the first page. Also the car was never recovered so its not certain they used the key my cousin has little kids that could of found it first.
moreVoting Question: Do I have reason to be suspicious?
I am a fifteen-year-old girl.
A few months ago we moved into a new house. Only recently have I started to become creeped out.
There's a man who lives at the end of the street - two doors down, to be exact. Every morning when my mother leaves for work she says he's out in his garage, just sitting, watching the traffic. Usually, she drives past his house on her way to work (past him is the most efficient way in and out of the suburb). One day, she got annoyed, and drove the other way. She said she saw him come out and stand on the curb watching her drive away.
When I leave for school, his garage is always open, and I can see him watching me. On Friday he came out of his house and stood on the curb, watching me walk up the street. I had my mirror out, and was surveying him as I walked. He was still there, as I cut onto the bush track and couldn't see him anymore.
On my way home his garage was open, and he was watching me again. My mother had come home early and was standing out on the driveway, waiting for me. But he was still watching.
And. as I left for my friend's place in her car, he was watching my then too. It was only just now that my mother told me that, after i had left, she had gone back inside and left our garage door open, and also the door that connects the garage to the actual house. She had been watching, and this man had stood on our driveway and peered into our garage, trying to look inside the house.
A few weeks ago, I was out weeding the front garden. He came out, presumably to check his mail, and I saw him from the corner of my eye behind his fence watching me. I stopped what I was doing, kept my head down, still watching him, and counted in my head. It got to sixty seconds before he went back inside.
He's always there, watching, every single time I leave or come home. I'm starting to great really nervous just stepping out my front door.
He lives alone, as far as I know. He has two cars (not sure what for - maybe he likes fixing them? Who knows.) and never says anything.
But, am I working myself up, or is this as creepy as it seems to be? What should I do about it? I have no grounds to contact the police because technically he has done nothing wrong.
moreResolved Question: All of my brothers friends are giving me crap for this still?
Last year I did something really stupid, I got locked out because my mom was paranoid about out house broke into so she locked every single door and window, including that leads from laundry room to the garage (which is never locked). Well I went to get some shoes and got locked out and my friend plus a few of her friends were coming to pick me up to go to seattle for her birthday and all of my stuff was inside. There wasn't a key in the garage so I was really frustrated and worrying because my friend was supposed to be at my house any minute. I was kicking the door in frustration, not intending to break it, but it actually broke. Well this happened a year ago and the door still hasn't been fixed so there is tape around the knob so it can still open and close, but if it weren't there and it shut, to open it you would pull the knob right out of the wood. Anyways, my brother and his friends always make fun of me for it and it's so embarrasing! I don't know why mom mom hasn't gotten it fixed yet, I even offered to pay for it:/
How do I get them to leave me alone? it really bothers me:/

He keeps on bringing random girls/hookers home late at night whom he had met at bars and clubs (they barely even know each other) and doing one-night-stands with them as if our house is a house of prostitution. He brings them home at around 1-2 am in the morning, hoping that my parents and I have already gone to bed so he could do his thing. One could imagine how good these girls could be if they feel the need to secretly sneak into a random guy's house whom she barely knows that late at night or should I say that early in the morning! My dad has scolded him many times and even gave him a last warning and all he ever does is pretend that he promises that he'll never do it again, yet he still continues to do it. And my brother has anger management issues since he always yells at our parents and he even yells at our grandma and relatives. He always insults my dad in front of our relatives and grandma as well (because my dad doesn't allow him to bring home random girls for one-night-stands) and all they ever do is pretend to agree because they're too afraid to go against him. Mind you, they don't even know he brings home sluts for one-night-stands. It seems as though he wants everything to be done his way and that everyone has to follow his orders. He also points at certain people, especially guys and says how ugly and weak they look. He also has road rage and talks on his cellphone with those hookers while he's driving and even my aunt came to tell me how she feels uncomfortable sitting in my brother's car and told my dad to do something about it.
A few months ago, he was boxing in the garage with his two best friends (whom he had met before he became like this) and one of them ended up vomitting. Then my brother came in the house, swearing and throwing things around so my parents and I asked him what happened as we thought one of them got injured or something. And he yelled back at us and said "NOTHING!". So my dad and I opened the door to see what happened and we saw a hose on the ground but we still couldn't see what happened. Then he just got a bucket of water from within the house and poured it on the mess because he apparently did not fasten the hose properly (so no water came out). Then immediately after, my brother wore his black leather shoes and headed for the club with the mess still there because it got washed out onto the driveway and the two friends standing there. Then the friend who was well drove the other friend home and my dad and I had to go out to clean the garage and driveway. Ever since this incident, I've never seen one of his best friends ever again (the one who was well) but I'm not sure if they're still friends or not.
So my question is, how do we go about fixing this situation? Sometimes I feel uncomfortable leaving the house unattended since my brother would take every opportunity to bring home random girls (not to mention, they use our washroom too and who knows how many other guys they've slept with so they could have STDs).
Last but not least, he only became like this ever since he started college.

moreResolved Question: Where to get home repair grants?
I am not old enough to get senior grants and I am on disability so I can't pay someone (and I have had calls from people willing to look for grants for me if I pay them money each month they search) to search for grants for me. I don't get enough money for a loan and have bad credit. I don't even have enough money to eat right let alone pay back a loan. I don't know how those television (like fix this house) work. They never say if you have to pay for it or if they do it. Anyway, I live where grant money is scarce and I could probably ask every celebrity out there for help and get no reply. I need a new roof and flooring as well as an electrical box for my dryer, also a new garage door. I live by myself and have advertised for a housemate but there is only one bedroom on main floor and the two upstairs are full of storage stuff and junk which I cannot get anyone to help fix them up for bedrooms. I need help! I don't know what the community guidelines are. I just know that I have been to county commissioner who sent me to department of development who had me fill out papers for(she said) a grant with the USDA Rural Development (they were loan papers and I was turned down. I wrote them myself and was told I wasn't old enough to get help from them and did not have enough money to pay back a low interest loan from them which I already knew or wouldn't be trying to find a grant). In answer to one person who kindly answered my question. I have no family that can help me or I would have mentioned that in my question. If I did have family help I would not be looking for grant money to help. I was given this house by my step-mother long before she died because I have taken care of all my parents here until they died. This house was first my mother's who I watched die day by day at age 19-20 of lung cancer in 1977. According to papers I have found, my parents bought this house in 1972. My wish is to keep it as the family home and pass it on to my only child so that no one in my family (what little I have) will never have to worry about being homeless. Yes, there are community grants but I am having trouble with finding and getting them before the money is used up on people who have old metal plumbing and other things that are(in my eyes) less severe than a weakening roof.
moreResolved Question: Need help with bothersome neighbor!?
Hey , id like to start off by saying that my neighbor is a little on the elderly side now and ever since we moved here, hes been making our life torture.
Moving in every other neighbor welcomed us with cake, a card, a smile...but he welcomed us with a letter asking to fix our driveway and decorate the home asap...stating that"the home was endangering the beauty of the street" WE JUST FINISHED MOVING CALM DOWN!.he has problems with everyone on the street an he is known in the police department for calling at least once a week.
The problem is this however.
My wife and I are ministers, and we have finally acquired a church that we can call our own.My kids are the musicians for the church , an they like to practice in the garage with the door closed.Yesterday my oldest son informed me that the neighbor called the police on them stating that they were disturbing the peace.....IT WAS AT 2 in the afternoon! we live near a hospital but he doesn't call the police when they make noise huh.
Anyways.. I wanted to know what my rights were as the home owner.
Because ive heard and seen garage bands playing and im sure they dont run into police trouble often. Is there some sort of permit or something I can do?
Or will my kids have to simply stop practicing an do something useless with their time.
Thanks
God blessforgot to mention
they play piano drums an bass.
moreResolved Question: garage my Transmission. Not Getting What they agreed to. What can i do?
I have a 98 honda civic LX 4 door. My brother gave me this car for free a few months ago . It Has been going great since. It only has Approx. 181000 km on it and no accidents. I Went to MR.Lube where I usually go when I get my Oiled changed. They Offer other Services like Cleaning the Gas line and stuff like that. My Brother always used to bring this car there and there never were any problems.
So Naturally I brought my car back there because they had a good reference. I Asked them to do the "Fuel System Cleaning" and the "Transmission Service"(Costs are 99.99$ and 69.99 Respectively). Everything was done accordingly until the end of the services. But as i got out of the Garage . My transmission fluid was leaking so they told me to come back in. After 5 minutes of me waiting in my car. They finally informed me that they had forgotten a wrench on the caution line around the pit and that it cracked my transmission when i got up onto the Tracks. They admitted it was 100% their fault and agreed to get it fixed at their expense. and that they would also rent me a car till i had my car back after repairs.
THE PROBLEM
Being on a saturday when this happened (jul17th 2010) naturally a lot of car rentals were not open. But He found one budget to have an available car for July 18th at noon. I agreed to wait till then for the car. so he told me . "call them tomorrow and they will rent you a car at my expenses." So i called today and the minimum age for car rental is 21 and i am 20. so they could not rent me the car. So i called The manager at MR. Lube And i cannot reach him since hes gone on a fishing trip and now im stuck with no car when i really need one to go to work and enjoy my 2 days off but im now stuck at home doing nothing. My Question is: What can i do about this situation. Should i ask for a refund for the service?. Would I Ask for More since they couldn't honor their promises and are doing nothing about it? What Would you guys recommend Doing?
moreResolved Question: Garage door makes a lot of noise. How to fix it?
We had our garage door replaced last fall with a new door and all new hardware. It was extremely quiet at the time but now it is starting to be a lot louder. The sounds seem to be a binding or tightening sound coming from the main spring. Does this need to be lubricated? Also, the wheels on the track are a little louder than they were (they used to be silent). Is there anything I can do about that?
moreResolved Question: How to Fixing a wet garage. The water is coming in under garage door?
My garage has a concrete floor, is insulated and looks nice. The only problem is the concrete slab in front of the garage slants down back towards the garage. So every time it rains all the water runs in under the garage door and in the garage. We do have gutters on the garage but that does little to nothing for the ground water running under the door. We have put new rubber seal on the garage door but the water still gets in. My question is, what can we do about keeping the water out every time it rains? We have another garage attached to this on that is slightly higher and has a gravel floor--could we put gravel on top of the concrete to raise the floor level? Any thoughts would help! Thanks~
moreResolved Question: Lightning blew a hole in my floor. Ever heard of this?
Last weekend during a thunderstorm lightning struck either the inside or very close to the outside of my house. Either way it was very very loud. After it happened I walked downstairs to find a baseball sized hole right in the middle of my pergo flooring. There were shards of flooring all over the room. Some of the bigger pieces of flooring had black char marks on them. The padding under the flooring was also charred and burned away to the edges of the hole. This room is on a concrete slab and there was also a quarter diameter sized chunk of concrete missing about 1/8 inch deep. Two of my breakers in the house were thrown one was fried. My computer was ruined also a DVD player and a garage door opener. Neither I, the electrician that came out to fix my breaker or the insurance agent had ever seen anything like this. The strange thing is there was no damage to the outside of the house. At least none that I have found. Has anyone ever heard of a thing like this?
