Welcome to Vitamin Dose Questions and Answers
Open Question: New miracle vitamin discovery for alzheimer's disease. Is this just a convinent £23 Billion back for the gov't?
£23 Billion is spent on patients with alzheimer's disease each year. Now they have suddenly realised that a high dose of vitamin B can slow down and even halt the disease. Well I'm sorry but I'm not buying it. Such a widespread disease as alzheimer's that has £23 billion spent on it each year (More than any other disease) and they've never tested vitamins before until now? That's utter RUBBISH. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a convenient £23 billion back into the coffers at a time when they need it most. moreOpen Question: VitaFusion gummies for kids too?

Last night, i had a hard time going to sleep, so i got up about 12:00am I think, and then went back to sleep about 2:00am, and as i try to fall asleep i feel my head tingling/buzzing/vibrating right before i fall asleep so i open my eyes whenever i feel like that, and then i finally fall asleep in a nightmare where a ghost possess people, so when the ghost started possessing me, i couldn't move my body, my body and head was shaking and trembling like crazy, and my head and body had severe buzzing too, almost like a seizure i guess, when i woke up my head was spinning, and has a vibrating feeling, after that right away i had heart palpitations, and shakiness, felt almost like a fever, i stood up since 3:00am, and now i'm wide awake at around 3:00pm afternoon, whenever i dose off (ADD) or stay still for a few seconds i feel my hand and body vibrate really bad and it paralysis me until i move it again, so basically i feel like whatever i ate yesterday did nerve damage, I had a low dose of vitamin b complex liquid yesterday, right now if I stay still my head will start to spin, and my whole body will start to vibrate, my head, to my hands, to my feet, and i can't stay still or it will numb or paralyze. moreVoting Question: Does anyone know why Greens + pills give me nightmares?
I don't get enough greens in my diet so I tried taking the Greens+ brand vitamin supplement. Every time I take it, whether full or half or quarter dose, morning or night, empty stomach or full, the following night I have vivid, terrifying nightmares that go on forever, which is very unlike me. Help!!! My husband and I are TTC and have been for about two years now without any luck. I just turned 22 and my husband is 23. ** I feel like I should mention the following incase anyone thinks it could be a factor in whats going on with me now: When I was 18..almost 19 I was admitted to the hospital due to severe anemia and had to have a blood transfusion and was put on birth control (which I took for about 2 weeks before turning into a raging bitch and pitched the pack and never used any other form of BC since) and was also put on a high dose of iron pills (which again, I have sinced stopped taking). I take a prenatal vitamin...on a daily basis..when I remember, whoops!! ** Anyways, in July I went to my obgyn as having sex with my husband became somewhat painful, and he mentioned that I felt much tighter or as if he couldnt go in as far, my obgyn did a routine exam..said that the symptoms I mentioned could indicate pregnancy as there is increased blood flow and can cause that feeling. Everything came back fine, and I was then 4 days late for AF with similar to implantation bleeding/spotting about 7 days before I got my actual AF. In August I had spotting 4 and 2 days before my AF showed up. ((Besides these past two months I would never spot before my AF!)) And my AF's visit was shorter then usual, and ended last Thursday only lasting about 3 days when shes usually around for 5-7 days. But since she left I've had odd cramps almost constantly, some just producing a weird fluttering feeling some much more painful like a freaking wolverine is in my uterus trying to claw out (a bit dramatic..but it literally feels like sharp scratching inside me)..anyways I keep having like once or twice a day random dripping of light pink colored..water? urine? I dont know what it is..the texture is like water or urine, not like any form of cm or anything!! Anyways...this isnt normal for me, Im usually dry as a bone after my AF..no cramps, nada!! Im just curious if anyone else has had anything else similar!?? I swear my cycle just keeps throwing in random shiz like this to confuse me and make this TTC journey all the more confusing!! Anyones thoughts or comments would be appreciated though....PLEASE:)!! moreResolved Question: Is this a symptom of depression?
(I posted this before with ZERO results gonna try again) So here's the thing. I do not know anything about depression, and everything I google or bing, comes up way too vague or the matching symptom I have, is partnered with a bunch of other symptoms I am not exhibiting. So please bare with me I just want to make sure my question is thorough. I have avoided relationships for awhile because of this happening, and I am becoming closer to someone that I am not willing to give up without a fight, and she is more than willing to help me with whatever is wrong, but I want to make a significant effort to resolve this and get on with my life without anymore distractions. I can be excited about something new in my life, but for no specific reason, sometimes it can be weeks after a fact or just a few minutes, but the excitement turns into a fear I am doing the wrong thing or just simply I shouldn't be excited at all. It doesn't only affect my relationships, it affects areas of work and plans with friends. It borderlines on the feeling that someone is inside of my head trying to convince me that who I am with or whatever I am planning to do is wrong. It is stupid, and I am becoming concerned about my sanity. The only time it lessens is when I increase my magnesium intake. I almost have to triple my daily dose to have an affect on this weird feeling. Any thoughts? Depression? Hormone Imbalance? Some sort of vitamin or bio-chemical deficiency? If either of these are the culprit what are ways to beat it, because ignoring it makes it worse. Thanks in advance everyone moreResolved Question: Vitamin C and colds question?
Will a high dose (1000mg) suckable vit c reduce the length of time you have a cold for if taken a few times a day?A common cold will cure itself in about 2 weeks if you take a treatment of some kind for it. It will cure itself in about 14 days if you DON'T take any treatment for it. (This made me laugh) I guess at least I had a giggle although full of cold. moreVoting Question: Can a person over dose on chewy vitamins?
Well, i've been eating these gummy Hannah Montana vitamins and i've ate about twenty in the past 2 days. Can I get sick? moreResolved Question: When is the best time to eat fruit and drink water?
I found this very informative and thought my contacts might want to live a longer life so please read this: EATING FRUIT... It's long but very informative We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat. What is the correct way of eating fruits? IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities. FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so. In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.... So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining - every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc - actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat! Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach. There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight. When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins. But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look! KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange. APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke. STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals. ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer. WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium. GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes. Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal. moreVoting Question: What vitamins and diet dose dancers need?

What are the risks/benefits associated with consuming a high dose of vitamins? I recently bought a multivitamin supplement from the USANA company, and their nutritional value label indicates a high dose of supplements in comparison to other multivitamin brands (Centrum). My 15 month old was accidentally overdosed on her vitamins. I add it to a jar of food everyday. Today my husband fed her while I was out running errands and gave her her vitamin. When I got home later that evening it was time to feed her again and I added her vitamins to another jar of food. I fed her more than half of the jar when my husband came upstairs and told me he had given her her vitamins earlier that morning. I immediately stopped feeding her that jar of food, gave her the rest of her dinner and began looking up vitamin overdose information. Will that extra dose hurt her, or does it have to be an extreme overdose? We are watching her carefully but want to know if anyone else knew the answer. Thank you. moreResolved Question: Ive been on Oxycodone IR 20mg X 3 times daily. How to come off? How bad will I withdrawal?
So Six weeks ago I started getting EXTREMELY painful headaches caused by Post Concussive Syndrome. I was then prescribed Oxycodone, I started with 15mg as needed every four hours, then went to the 20mg as needed every four hours. BUT I only take it two-three times a day, I also counted the number of 10 mg pills I've gone through in the 6 weeks and it was 134. Now the headaches are subsiding a little and I want to get off the drugs before it gets out of control, even though the doctor says I don't have to yet because he doesn't want my "quality of life" to go back down. ANYWAY back on to the question, haha. So what I was wondering is what is the best way to get off the meds? Cold turkey? Tapering down? And with my dose should I expect severe withdrawals? Moderate? None? (wishful thinking). Also ANY information on how to make the WD's better such as vitamins or things to do PLEASE let me know. Thank you so much ZachOh and the problem is PURELY physical, I dont have a problem with addiction, just a physical dependence. moreResolved Question: Daily doses of laxatives, producing many bowel movements throughout the day - IMMEDIATE WEIGHTLOSS?

Ok, I'm 15 years old, I'm a guy. I was told that these vitamins (Zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Selenium, and Chromium) help to get skin clear and healthy. Well I was just wondering, are these okay for a guy my age to take, or no? Secondly, if they are, what are the healthy doses for a kid my age? Third, what is a good, quality brand of vitamins that is also relatively cheap? Lastly, I know you have to wash your skin and stuff, so please don't tell me that I have to do that, because trust me, I know. And don't tell me to go to a Dermatologist. I already have. Please don't recommend a Multi-Vitamin or Accutane either, because I don't want one. And if you know any other Vitamins that are good for the skin, what are they? moreVoting Question: Stomach cramps/pains, problems going to the toilet, what will solve this problem?
Oh, before anyone reads this too, i'm only writing this on here because obviously people write all sorts of random stuff on here so yeah I just want to know if anyone has anything USEFUL that could possibly help me. Thanks. Well i'm on a small dose of trileptal for mild epilepsy, which has been fully controlled for several years now, but the side effects from this drug have really caused me a lot of problems over the last few years and i'm certain the drug is the reason my stomach is so messed up. I'm 19 by the way. Basically, most mornings, like 6/7 or something, I wake up with a fair amount of gas, and I need to go to to the toilet basically, problem is, if I go to the toilet, every time it's literally similar to diarrhoea but worse and I take around 10 minutes maybe more most of the time. If I don't go to the toilet and hold it in though, till like the evening or even around midnight, (which I can do because sometimes the feeling just goes away like I don't need to go as much) when I crap i'll put it this way, it's a lot more normal and properly formed, like a crap should look like basically. Still though, even after I go to the toilet, be it morning or midnight, and especially the evening, my stomach is no better sometimes and i'll either have a fair bit of gas or my stomach will just cause me pain, like it's doing right now. So, most of the time, I hate going to the toilet in the morning so much and feel like I have to shower after every crap I do, I just hold it in till before I go to bed, where it comes out more naturally. I do only go to the toilet like once a day too so I don't have to go several times a day. Thing is though, I just want to be able to either get up in the morning, and IF I need the toilet, to get in there, do a regular crap and get out quickly, or to not even have to wake up with a stomach that feels like it's gonna explode. Maybe my digestion is really slowed down under this stupid drug? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can take or what should I do to make the problem better or even cure it? I tried some pills from an online health shop which have natural vitamins and minerals in, including peppermint oil and fennel, they say the pills are for soothing symptons of irritable bowel syndrome but i've been taking them for 3 weeks now and they've done nothing at all. I've had ginger tea and peppermint tea before too but there's little or no difference really. I do exercise too, I am of a healthy weight with a healthy BMI, I eat no junk food and my diet consists of porridge most mornings, sandwich at lunch, with lean meat/fish and something healthy for dinner, I eat 1 or 2 apples a day and I drink a lot of water, but not a ridiculous amount of water, so I don't see how my diet is doing any of this!?!? Has anyone got anything that could just possibly help me, I just went to the toilet like 2 hours ago and my stomach is hurting fgs, i'm sick of this! ThanksEDIT: Well omi jen and anyone else reading this, if anything, it isn't diarrhoea I have in the morning, but it's probably worse in a different way. I just go to crap and it's runny poop pretty much, so not pleasant, no. So yeah in terms of diarrhoea I don't have it properly like ever, it's just horrible runny poop. moreVoting Question: When i take vitamin B pills i feel weird, is this normal?

i'm extremely vitamin d defficient. it's at 17 when it should be between 30 to 100, as it says on my blood test results. i can't lie, i haven't been out much in the sun this summer. a few times at the most, all i really have been doing is sleeping till 6 PM and going out till 5 in the morning, every day. so i get no sun. but it's only been like this for like two months, could my vitamin d have really gone down that much, that quick? i'm being put on a special diet for 6 weeks than to switch to a high dose of medication, because the doctor says i'm too young (i'm 17) to be put on medication so fast, without any preperating, so i need to get sunlight and drink mik and eat yogurt a couple times a day for 6 weeks to prepare my body for the medication, if i still need it. so anyways, i drink liquor. like most teenagers do. i go to parties, get drunk, whatever. don't judge me. i know it's not good, but i do it anyways. i'm not planning on keeping this life style forever, but for now i'm just having fun. does liquor deprive you of vitamin d? honestly. don't lie to me because you don't want me to drink. i've been googling it and it doesn't say much about it, it says they're linked but it doesn't say how. like, if i drink tonight (which i want to) will i die? i'm very paranoid and worried. i'm planning on cutting down on my drinking, like once a week or once every two weeks (i drink a few times a week.. straight liquor..) but if i drink tonight, will i die? how are the two linked? what if i drink a whole bunch of milk and eat fruits before i drink? if i get a lot of sunlight tonight, can i drink? moreResolved Question: Athiest, what do you think of this?
Why is this medication prescribed? Alprazolam is used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks. Alprazolam is in a class of medications called benzodiazepines. It works by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain. How should this medicine be used? Alprazolam comes as a tablet and a concentrated solution (liquid) to take by mouth. It usually is taken two to four times a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take alprazolam exactly as directed. To take the concentrated liquid, use only the dropper that came with your prescription. Draw into the dropper the amount prescribed for one dose. Squeeze the dropper contents into a liquid or semi-solid food such as water, juice, soda, applesauce, or pudding. Stir the liquid or food gently for a few seconds. The concentrated liquid will blend completely with the food. Drink or eat the entire mixture immediately. Do not store for future use. Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of alprazolam and gradually increase your dose, not more than once every 3 or 4 days. Alprazolam can be habit-forming. Do not take a larger dose or take it more often or for a longer time than your doctor tells you to. Do not stop taking alprazolam without talking to your doctor. Suddenly stopping to take alprazolam may worsen your condition and cause withdrawal symptoms (anxiousness, sleeplessness, irritability, and seizures). Withdrawal symptoms may be worse if you take more than 4 mg of alprazolam every day. Your doctor will decrease your dose gradually. Other uses for this medicine Alprazolam also is used sometimes to treat depression, fear of open spaces (agoraphobia), and premenstrual syndrome. Talk to your doctor about the possible risks of using this medication for your condition. This medication may be prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. What special precautions should I follow? Before taking alprazolam, tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to alprazolam, chlordiazepoxide (Librium, Librax), clonazepam (Klonopin), clorazepate (Tranxene), diazepam (Valium), estazolam (ProSom), flurazepam (Dalmane), halazepam (Paxipam), lorazepam (Ativan), oxazepam (Serax), prazepam (Centrax), quazepam (Doral), temazepam (Restoril), triazolam (Halcion), or any other medications. tell your doctor if you are taking itraconazole (Sporanox) or ketoconazole (Nizoral). Your doctor willl probably tell you not to take alprazolam. tell your doctor and pharmacist what other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. Be sure to mention any of the following: amiodarone (Cordarone, Pacerone); antidepressants ('mood elevators') such as desipramine (Norpramin), imipramine (Tofranil), and nefazodone (Serzone); antifungals such as fluconazole (Diflucan); antihistamines; cimetidine (Tagamet); clarithromycin (Biaxin); cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune); diltiazem (Cardizem, Dilacor, Tiazac); ergotamine (Cafatine, Cafergot, Wigraine, others); erythromycin (E.E.S., E-Mycin, Erythrocin); isoniazid (INH, Nydrazid); medications for mental illness and seizures; nicardipine (Cardene); nifedipine (Adalat, Procardia); oral contraceptives (birth control pills); propoxyphene (Darvon); selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem), fluvoxamine (Luvox), paroxetine (Paxil), and sertraline (Zoloft); sedatives; sleeping pills; and tranquilizers. Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects. tell your doctor if you have or have ever had glaucoma; depression; or lung, kidney, or liver disease. tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking alprazolam, call your doctor immediately. talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication if you are 65 years of age or older. Older adults should receive low doses of alprazolam because higher doses may not work better and may cause serious side effects. if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking alprazolam. you should know that alprazolam may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you. talk to your doctor about the safe use of alcohol while you are taking this medication. Alcohol can make the side effects of alprazolam worse.I just love that one of the suggested categories is R&S LOL. This has been asked a few times already but It's never been explained why you can survive being on a diet low on vitamin c when you need it daily. I read an article about Inuits that lived primarily off fish but did eat some fruits and vegetables from time to time meaning that there could be days or even weeks between each dose of vitamin c. Does this mean that the body does in fact contain vitamin c inside the cells for a longer period of time but the plasma level drops however much quicker? moreResolved Question: How much does Vitamin A help your vision?

I'm taking 400 mg (once daily) of Sam-e & 200 mg of L-Theanine (once daily) & they have definately helped but I'm wondering if I should be taking anything else because I don't feel a whole lot better than I did before. I am on depo-provera as my birth control (which I'm very happy with) & Valtrex but I don't take any other vitamin supplements. Should I up my dosage of L-Theanine to 2 doses of 200 mg or maybe take a multi vitamin along with these to make myself feel a little better because maybe I'm missing something? I am a 18 year old male, at 5'7.5 and about 165-170. I came down with mono for a while, got better, and then because of having to finish up my second semester of my senior year so I could graduate, I got sick again. I didn't get enough sleep and didn't eat enough. I was aware of this, so I ate a little more during the past couple months, but not as much as I thought. I was around 190 pounds before I got sick, most of the weight was muscle, but some of it was some extra fat. 1. I plan on eating 3000 calories a day from food alone over 4 or 5 meals. 2. I also plan to take this mega dose vitamin called clearvite once a day or one a day men's pro edge. 3. Drinking at least 85 fluid ounces of liquid a day. -mostly water -1 glass of orange juice -1 glass of milk -1 20 or 32 ounce bottle of Gatorade - can include tea and lemonade 4. Go to bed no later than 10 pm.I already asked this in the Diet & Fitness section, but they are clueless except on answering questions that have to do weight loss, exercise, or P90X.You were probably being sarcastic or funny about the Dominos, but its not a bad idea.
