Open Question: Help with a vitamin problem?
I've recently begun taking 1000mg of vitamin C daily, as well as vitamin B complex that contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, folate, B12, biotin, and pantothenic acid. I've only taken the vitamins twice, once each day for the past two days. But both times, about an hour after taking them, by heart rate went up, I felt my blood pressure rise, and an odd warm sensation that would move from my left lower rib cage to my upper left abdomen over and over again. I've also had intense dreams at night (horrible nightmares; I literally jumped out of bed and ran about 20 feet, it scared me so badly). It would pass a few hours later. Am I overdosing on one of my vitamins or something? moreOpen Question: 25 mg iron supplement a day?
I want to boost my cogntive and psychomotor skills, i have already been on some other kind of stuff like vitamin-b, omega-3 etc. I want to use iron supplement as well. What i fear of is whether or not i am exceeding the daily allowance limits of iron by using 25mg a day. moreOpen Question: 219% of Your Recommended Daily Vitamin A Poll: Ever had Sweet Potato Fries?

I'm a small, skinny 17 year old guy. I'm 5'4 and weigh about 120 pounds. Recently I've started going to the gym again; I'm coming up on my third consecutive week. I go 6 days a week (Day A: Upper body/back; Day B: Legs & Abs; then I will alternate between the two). I also run almost everyday that I go to the gym. I joined the military so I'm trying to improve my running times and physically prepare myself for boot camp. As for supplements, I take a daily vitamin and a vitamin C everyday. Before I work out, I take creatine and afterwards I take whey protein mixed with creatine. Since I've always been skinny, I want to gain more mass and bulk up a bit. I don't want to be huge or anything, but reasonably muscular and large. There was an online calculator saying I should consume about 3000 calories everyday. What are some healthy foods I can eat to have that many calories a day; how can I do it? What else can I do to gain mass? moreResolved Question: 60 mg Niacin(vitamin-B3) a day?
I am using Vitamin-B pills daily, so i take 60 mg niacin daily, does it harm the body functions? I normally use it to boost my cognitive skills. But 60 mg of niacin seems to be exceeding the upper limit of daily niacin allowance. What do think about this? moreVoting Question: I have some forgetfullness problem, and i use iron, omega-3, vitamin-B etc supplements. Do they really work?
One month later, I am going to have an examination which tests cognitive skills such as running memory, visual memory, attention and psychomotor skills. I don't find myself eligible enough in these fields. So i tend to use supplements including omega-3, gingko bloba, b-vitamin complex and iron(i heard that iron is benefical for attention and psychomotor skills). What i wonder is i am necessarily overdosing with B3 vitamin like 60 mg a day since even one pill of B-vitamin complex has 50 mg of B3 and i also use another pill for brain functions which has 10 mg of B3 vitamin. Can this harm the body or cognitive functions instead of boosting it? As for the iron issue, i really do not know how much iron is present in my blood however i am confused whether or not taking one pill of iron daily(one pill ). According to my age/sex status i need 18 mg of iron. On the other hand, i saw on the internet that iron is not excereted and accumlatively kept in the body, for an ordinary day only 1 mg of iron loss is occured. Is this correct? What if i ignore this and use one pill of iron daily(one pill of 25mg iron)?. Should my nutrition diet include 18 mg of iron or 1mg of iron?I have acccidentaly asked this in diet section must have asked in medicine instead. Thanks though. moreVoting Question: I know nothing of acne.?
I have been using Clearasil daily facial wash twice a day for about three weeks. It does not seem to be working at all. I just read up that it might be bad for my skin to use clearasil because of the oils?? And that I should just wash my face twice a day with soft soap? I have been drinking loads of water and taking vitamin B pills daily. What should I do? Continue using Clearasil or just use soap? Okay first...I'm a 15 year old girl. The past few months it's been increasingly difficult for me to stay awake during the day when I'm not moving around. No matter how much sleep I get, whether I get 6 hours, which is the least I ever get, or 10 hours, I can't seem to stay awake. It's extremely inconvenient. For nearly two months I slept through my entire Algebra class, which starts around 2pm. I've also gotten caught on occasion sleeping during morning classes. Even on the weekends, whether I'm at a friend's house, or my grandparent's house, or just hanging out at home, I suffer from fatigue and sometimes fall asleep. On random occasions I have minor to severe (severe imo, anyway) chest pains, and every once and awhile I'll black out momentarily after getting up from doing something (I think that happens when blood doesn't flow to your head fast enough? but w/e) Finally after 3 months or so of falling asleep in class and not getting much of a response from my mom after confronting her about my problem, I took it upon myself to go to the school nurse and tell her about it. She said there wasn't much she could do for me right there, but she mentioned "low iron levels" and called my mom about it. My mom can't take me to a doctor, not only because I don't have one but because she's going away for a month due to her own medical problems. After looking into it, I think there may be a possibility that I'm suffering from anemia (or I'm at least at risk for it), but without a doctor's diagnosis there's not much I can do. So I was thinking about taking some sort of iron supplement. Today I picked up something from the store, "Easy Iron: a highly absorbable iron supplement that is easy on your stomach." For one thing, am I old enough to take this? I know some of the stuff that can happen when taking an iron supplement...stomach upset, constipation, heartburn...anything else? Are there any foods I shouldn't eat if I take one? I guess I should include this as well...the % of daily value included in each capsule: Folic Acid - 100% Vitamin B-12 - 417% Iron - 139% Should I try taking one? Or should I wait until I can get to a doctor first? (this could be months...many months, I haven't been to a doctor in over 3 years) I'd really rather not have to suffer with the fatigue in the beginning of the school year if I can help it... Thanks! moreVoting Question: Any struggling opiate addicts?
Any struggling opiate addicts out there needing some advice? First of all I was a major Vicodin addict 3.5 years ago and quit cold turkey which was hell!! I am not a doctor of any sort just beat the habit with some helpful home remedies. I used the Thomas Recipe. First of all it was easy for me because I wasn't working a lot only part time but I would advise atleast 4-7 days off of work or it will be harder. This is something you truly want to do for your own health, well-being, relationships, finances, and living sober. Life without opiates is amazing I had tons more energy, great state of mind, focus, motivation, and just a healthier lifestyle. For users truly wanting to get clean from Vicodin, Percocet, Lortab, Tramadol read on. Oxycontin and dilaudid if hooked heavily withdrawal will be more intense and will last longer most people go into a detox facility for those drugs along with morphine. From my experience with Vicodin here's how I got clean. Day one- Xanax, Ativan or Klonopin for anxiety/depression along with B Vitamins for leg cramps. Xanax ect. will also help with restlessness in lower back or body. It also helps produce sleep and takes away being moody throughout your home detoxification. Use ibuprofen or aleve from the start to take away SOME of the aches and pains. Also use a hot tub, hot showers, or hot baths with baking soda or epson salt to get out toxins from body. If at all possible try to get your hands on prescription ibuprofen in 800 milligrams which helps immensely. For sleep use chamomile tea, melatonin, or your Xanax, Valium to produce sleep. You'll need to get a vitamin supplement which is like a daily vitamin each day along with Imodium for diarrhea (use as much as needed for the runs). The goal is to get to day 4 and at this point your mental state should be almost back to normal. Day 4-7 stop using Xanax or Valium, drink lots of fluids. Try to get moderate exercise 30 minutes. Take l-tyrosine which is an herb which promotes mental focus, clarity, and energy scale up or down depending on how sensitive your body is. I started with 400-500 milligrams on day 4. Days 5-7 continue and by day 7 you will feel like yourself not totally but the physical withdrawal pain will be nothing. It doesn't stop there for over a month or two you will get cravings, have to cut off ties from your dealers, and basically have to stay focused on maintaining life without opiates. Your mind will still tempt you but stay focused on a hobby, work, or close good friends. The only other advice is there's really nothing for the cold sweats at night I just figured it was my body getting rid of the bad toxins. Afterall anyone who is an opiate addict like I was for along time numbed themselves from life and trained your brain to maintain equilibrium by popping pills now you can be yourself without them. You will be sober and able to accomplish goals, actually lose weight which I did by maintaining a workout program, and also have more money. Just think you'll no longer have to stress about finding pills so you won't go through withdrawal. Your day will consist of production, health, and even just pure freedom. Just 7 days to get out of a very dark place. The downward spiral which for some is too powerful and are junkies forever having nothing, problems with the law, and eventually moving on to stronger drugs like heroin or cocaine. After prolonged opiate use your "high" which lasted mostly all day lasts for about 20-30 minutes making you want to take more or even move up the painkiller ladder onto Percocet, Morphine, or the worst of worst oxycontin. Along the battle remember everyday is closer to the light. Don't do it for a loved one do it for yourself because eventually you will be chasing a "high" which you won't catch. It also messes up your liver and after awhile your body stops producing endorphins naturally which can cause disphoria and severe mental depression. You will just want to pop pills and sleep all day due to no motivation. Hope this helps anyone struggling. Take each day at a time and force yourself. If you relapse you'll have to start all over. God bless and you won't die from opiate withdrawal just have the worse flu ever!!!! Very confused, but i am a little low on vitamin B12, which may be due to some meds i take effecting absorption, so i've been taking a supplement(but now a little worried about taking too much) Well i've had two doctors tell me two different things. I was told by one it is extremely hard to overdose on B12, but another said, it isn't as hard as you think. the recommended daily amount is around 2.4 mcg(according to what i've read). So, i found these gummies that containg 30 mcg daily and i know i eat some food with Vitamin B12 in them. So i probably get 35 mcg a day. Is this too much? I've read so many things saying it is fine to have up to 1000 mcg a day(which is obviously more than 35 mcg), others say no. I am sooooooo confused. I've also read some peopole say you just urinated out the extra vitamin b 12, others say even though b12 is water soluable it doesn't urinate out. moreVoting Question: Im on oxycontin and oxycodone .my doctor gave me a drug test and found valium.?

Need some advice please?
Hi, It all started with a diffused, light rash on my cheek noticed after sitting out in the sub - but it never went away. It's never got worse either - although maybe changed slightly, more splotchy. Burns sometimes , but rarely. Thought this was down to being in the sun, but will just randomly happen (I am not red or flushed at this time). I rarely flush. Only when I'm embarrest or heavy lifting. Not with alcohol or sun. In fact when I look in the mirror after drinking you can notice the red even less. I have a beer after work every day. Although, when I wash and dry my face at this time, I go bright red, but quickly back again. Oh and it's much redder if I sleep on that cheek. What really concerns me is my nose has been getting gradually redder and my pores have been getting very large. It now stings at the end. Doctors thought it was sebberheic dermatitis as it looks like I have this round my nose too (but also doesn't fit the hall mark criteria for that either - not scaly. Both rashes are smooth to touch. If it is rosacea - scared it's Rhinophyma. What do I do as the docs won't help until it gets much worse. Oh and my right hand gland is always up and sore - any corrolation? Been like it for months. Oh and have MGD in my eyes. Daily routine includes (started 3 months back when this rash appeared): -ACV - Coconut oil - internally and externally - 50% diluted tea tree with macadamia nut oil (been doing for a week - helped a bit with cheek, but not nose or round nose. - high B vitamins - fish oils - pro biotic You advice would be very helpful.Oh and I should add that the rash on my cheek started shortly after I worked myself to the bone and had to stop for months because my body just couldn't carry on! moreResolved Question: Can you please help me to fill in the blanks with the correct answers...?

The title probably speaks for itself. I'm 20, female, and 5'2". I was prescribed 10mg Adderall IR (to be taken twice daily) about a week ago. Alarmingly, I've dropped from 122 lbs, to 114 lbs since I've started taking it as prescribed. I have been eating less, due to an utter lack of appetite.. but I've been trying to compensate for it by drinking somewhat caloric beverages, taking my various vitamins (B vitamins, mostly- I'm vegan), and forcing myself to eat before I turn in for the night. To the Question: I'm aware that the celerity of this weight loss isn't average.. by any means, but is it at least common during the first week of treatment with amphetamines? Or could it mean that a different medical condition is involved as well? Thanks for reading. :] moreVoting Question: Fissured Tongue Treatment?
Hi I have a fissured tongue condition ever since I can remember, now I'm 26 and I've noticed that my tongue is after getting way more fissures and even the main one in the middle is now longer, wider and deeper. I must say that especially this year I have increased my oral hygiene in a big way, I brush my teeth twice sometimes thrice daily and I also use interdental brushes and a good mouth wash. Sometimes I can taste this very mild but yet very present perhaps tingling on my tongue and the plate area even if I haven't eaten yet so I can't blame the food. I have searched about this matter all over google and I am very disappointed, especially as far as treatment is concerned there's absolutely nothing on the net. They say that it is considered benign condition and that it doesn't have to be treated, yeah right maybe by someone who doesn't have it, it doesn't hurt I agree but I am not quite comfortable watching my tongue to all apart in front of my eyes, that's how I feel it's terrible. I can feel myself having low natural dopamine. When I wake up in the mornings,I feel bright and vibrant, not depressed sad or negative. However I can feel that I'm like numb to most things.I can get a $400 bonus and not feel anything, see old friends and go out once in a long time and not feel a "rush" of dopamine or natural feelings. I eat completely healthily,I've taken a mutli vitamin,Fishoil and flaxseed oil, magnesium and b-12 everday for atleast 4 years. I work out, have a good physique. There's no reason for me to not feel things throughout my day. on very rare occasion I'll take a hit or two of meth ( please no judgements) and i can feel the rush of dopamine, serotonin. I feel normal, like this is how I should feel daily. Im happy,( i could care less about the energy) but I can feel focused and like everything is in order. I dont beleive its the high from the drug, and if it is thats one thing But I really beleive its because my brain has more dopamine than normal, everyday routine. Should I talk to my doctor about a SSRI? SSNI? i dont know much about them if anyone could give their experiences. I also get very depressed and "hopelessness" sets in at night when the sun goes down. I may suffer from SAD. Also, caffeine in too large amounts gets me to think about my past too much, and anxious. On a normal daily basis I almost never think positively about much. Thanks guys youd be helping me tremendously. moreResolved Question: Vitamin B6, when should I take it?
Hey, I've been doing a little research on this magical Vitamin called "B-6". It's supposedly essential for protein and amino acid metabolism. Somehow studies and reviews have proven that this Vitamin also increases the chances for lucid, or multiplicatively more vivid dreams. I found the average dosage varies but I've come to the conclusion to do 200 mg, or 2 tablets of B6, about 10,000% daily value for a teenager. Aanyway, I need help. I don't plan on sleeping for another 6ish hours, and was wondering; does it matter when I take them for them to fully affect my dreams? Can I take them now, or should I wait an hour or two before retiring for the day? Any help would be amazing. Ty in advanced. moreResolved Question: Percent/SAT Questions Help? Please! My mom and I have been getting really tired lately after we eat lunch. We eat very healthy and nutritious foods; whole grain bread/wraps, tomatoes, lettuce, beans etc. almost every day. I just recently moved in with her and started to feel the same way, though I never have before. We both get enough sleep during the night and take B-complex and Iron vitamins daily. What could be the problem..?We really don't eat very big meals, and I was hungry again a couple of hours later. We think it may be an allergic reaction to something thats in whole grain foods..?..I'm also don't consume any animal products including dairy except for fish. My mother does though so I don't think that has anything to do with it. We also don't eat any fried foods. moreResolved Question: Is it safe to take SAMe with a regular adult multivitamin?
I take multivitamins daily and I don't want to stop them. Now, I'd like to start taking SAMe as well for depression/anxiety (I've had success with it treating my depression in the past). I'm wondering if it is okay to take these two things together. And also, would it be beneficial to take them together? (I read that vitamin B can increase the effectiveness of SAMe.) Thanks for the help! moreResolved Question: Is it true that a multi-vitamin is useless?
I believe it was something on the Colbert Report the other day, when an interviewee spoke about multivitamins being the most useless thing on the face of the Earth. The guy dissed Doctors a little too, but I disagree with him on that, due to their education and knowledge-base on it. I know that individual vitamins are very beneficial, like D, or one of the B vitamins, due to the fact that they actually let you live. I just want to know if you think a daily multivitamin is as useless as the interviewee said. Thanks! moreResolved Question: How much Vitamin D should I take daily...?
I've been having health problems. My doctor took some blood tests and the only thing I'm low on is calcium. I'm thinking calcium and Vitamin D go together, and the problems I've been having would make sense if I did have a deficiency of Vitamin D. My doctor was thinking the same thing so he took more blood to check my Vitamin D; that was 2 weeks ago and I haven't had the money to go back and see him :/ I'm going to be safe and take more Vitamin D anyhow, but I just don't know how many IU's I should take? I can't drink milk because it causes acne for me. I will be going to the doctor the week after next. My brother was diagnosed with pigment dispersion glaucoma, he was prescribed eye drops for this condition. He sees a specialist every 3 weeks for this condition, and even though the eye drops are helping he is still having a lot of pain from the pressure and major headaches. Unfortunately he is taking the highest level of the drops the maximum times per day and was even prescribed pain pills, however he is a single parent of 2 small boys and being on pain pills really isn't much of an option for him as they make him groggy and not really "with" it. The doctor suggested drinking lots of water daily, and to eat no sugar and recently told him to try taking B complex vitamins and vitamin E to help, he is still having lots of trouble, does anyone know of any other home remedies that may help?No he is not color blindHe doesn't have cataracts either the eye doctor diagnosed pigmentary dispersion glaucoma and this was verified by an eye specialist moreVoting Question: Will I have withdrawals if I 2 day detox from painkillers?
