Open Question: What exactly is the Florida Exit Option Program?
I am a former high school student who had dropped out with only 1 english credit left to receive a traditional high school diploma. Reasons for drop out were related to fathers health, not that it's relevant. I have taken and passed the GED test and received a certificate that states "Florida High School Diploma" My first question is, is really a High School diploma or is a GED certificate. Secondly I've read this off of the Exit Option Model "If the student passes the GED Tests before the end of the school year and later passes the FCAT, he or she will graduate with a standard high school diploma and may participate in all graduation activities. This includes students who are credit-deficient or who do not meet the minimum 2.0 GPA requirement." My question is about that is what is a "standard high school diploma" and who issues that to the student, whether it be the attending high school or the state. I know it's an in depth question but I really appreciate the help. moreOpen Question: Which of these ten examples stimulus waste has inspired Obama the most to make a 2nd stimulus package?
Ten examples of wasteful stimulus projects in the report include: 1. $1.5 million in “free” stimulus money for a new wastewater treatment plant results in higher utility costs for residents of Perkins, Oklahoma. 2. $1 billion for FutureGen in Mattoon, Illinois is the “biggest earmark of all time” for a power plant that may never work. 3. $15 million for “shovel-ready” repairs to little-used bridges in rural Wisconsin are given priority over widely used bridges that are structurally deficient. 4. $800,000 for little-used John Murtha Airport in Johnstown, Pennsylvania airport to repave a back-up runway; the ‘Airport for Nobody’ Has Already Received Tens of Millions in Taxpayer dollars. 5. $3.4 million for a wildlife “eco-passage” in Florida to take animals safely under a busy roadway. 6. Nevada non-profit gets $2 million weatherization contract after recently being fired for same type of work. 7. $1.15 million for installation of a new guard rail for the non-existent Optima Lake in Oklahoma. 8. Nearly $10 million to renovate an abandoned train station that hasn’t been used in 30 years. 9. 10,000 dead people get stimulus checks, but the Social Security Administration blames a tough deadline. 10. This world is evidently deficient in something and I do not know what it is. The people of Earth hit their children, kill each other with nuclear weapons, torture people and kill children and animals, and do all kinds of awful things that I do not want to contemplate. I have profound sensitivity to people's feelings, so much so that it has led to severe problems being able to control myself mentally, and psychological problems and what by most people would be deemed as an extreme over-reaction to any situations where compassion is required. I have not met anyone yet to date who has this level of such a sensitivity, it is really extreme. But everyone else tells me that I should be considering everyone else more than me, and maybe never consider myself at all; and would tell me to be ego-less. This I am not able to do, which may come as a shock after what I have told you above. I cannot understand things that some of my research shows is related to this, like never asking as a guest for food when hungry and waiting for someone to offer you it; this behavior I still cannot understand and it disturbs me. In my house, people aren't allow to do it, and if they do I get annoyed and confused by it. This mysterious phenomenon of what comes from ordinary people whom are said to have sensitivity to people's feelings; where they say that we should not consider ours selves at all; rather than what I would expect them to say, that we should consider ourselves equaly as we would other people. I find it disturbing, and I am so confused and the more research that I do on it, the more confused I become. No matter what people say to me to try and explain it, it just doesn't work; why would I seek to do this? Why would it be right? If such people have done so many nasty things to me in thier lifes like spanking me as a child, threatening to kill me, bullying me and so on; I am totally unable to trust them when they say these things anyway. My heart tells me that they are liers and that this ego-less business is designed to screw me and take away everything that I have for myself and to give it up to the system of control. That is what humility was really designed to do, they take away your pride in order to rob you of your right to love yourself, with lies and propaganda that we are doing something morally wrong. I keep trying to get away from people who do this, even to the piont that I have considered ensuring that they are filtered out with my security considerations that I have, as people whom have been abusive have done this too. I consider this phenomenon to be a threat. Why aren't you confused by the idea that you should have no sense of self, or ego? I know that you should still consider everyone else; but you have rights too. Tell me why your not confused! CREEDI never siad that I wanted to be less sensitive to people's feelings, I siad that I have a right to like my self.Mordegast People say I have very high intellegence, this probably makes things worse in this case, as I end up in a spiralling and obsessiobe circle of thought that drives me mad regarding this topic.Softtouchmale. I like everything you siad, except for what you siad about pride. Pride is actual a force against evil, as it makes us feel good for doing good.I least I think I liked what he siad, not sure exactly that I understood it. moreOpen Question: vitamin D supplements for breastfed babies?
i am not worried about this cuz my baby and i go outside virtually every day for walks and such, and we have a lot of sun! in fact, our city is actually nicknamed the "sun city" but anyways....i was reading this article http://www.todaysparent.com/baby/breastfeeding/article.jsp?content=855905 and it says things like "babies were intended to be breastfed, and if there was supposed to be more vitamin D in breastmilk, then it would be there" and " recommending vitamin D for every breastfed baby sends a message that breastfeeding is deficient" i agree with this 100%...i mean babies were meant to have breastmilk, and if they needed something, it would be there. what do you all think about this? also...if the mother consumes alot of vitamin D herself, does it get passed on to baby? wasnt sure about that one. thanks! moreOpen Question: Why is Yahoo! I mean black men make up about 50 % of the jail population. This is modern day slavery. Why dont these modern day slaves deserve love from their own women? This means that if you refuse to date a black man who have a criminal record then youre excluding a good precentage of black men who come from socioeconomically deficient backgrounds and are outcasts of society. With my sight set on my intertwined fingers, my thumbs making arbitrary shapes that entertain no one but themselves, I think deeply of all that has passed. My legs are crossed, Indian-style, and they are kept warm by a blanket made by the very person gripping to every thought in my mind. I feel the wrinkle between my eyes intensifying, but this is nothing new, for it has been much too severe for my age for months now. The thoughts become more poignant than my wretched heart can bear and in an attempt to calm myself, I inhale oxygen with a great gasp, hoping to swallow the bulging lump caught in my throat. I exhale whilst raising my sight to heights I wish to reach but know I cannot, and instead of vanishing into the unknown, the swelling in my throat seems to grow stronger still. I swallow naught but the air that seems so deficient all about me. Biting my lip, I remember intensely. Much too intensely. Even before I feel the damp tear gracefully flowing down my cheek, making a path for all those to come, I know I am breaking down again. I close my eyes forcefully, pushing the wet sorrow out. My body begins shaking and I part my lips repeatedly, gasping for breath. My eyebrows form an even greater furrow above my nose and I cover it all with my hands, releasing every breath and every tear onto my quivering palms. With my mouth partially opened and the weeping ceasing for but a moment, I begin to sway my body back and forth, rocking myself with a maternal gentleness. Warm, forceful gusts of breath strike my palms and as my face becomes too heated for me to breathe without difficulty, I gradually raise my head and exhale robustly. My eyes open and as I wrap my hands around my neck, my fingers softly touching in the rear, I look to that unknown place, past the ceiling and the roof and the clouds and I know time does not stop for insignificant, crying weaklings like me. I appreciate all opinions, negative or positive. If there are errors in punctuation or grammar, please let me know. However, do not base your opinion about my having or not having talent on spelling or punctuation mistakes because I have been living in a foreign country for a very long time and the rules for punctuation are somewhat different here. Problems with grammar are due to the extensive time away from the USA. It's merely a description of crying and of recalling an unknown tragedy. Just take it as it is - I'm not a depressed person, I just decided to write it. :) moreResolved Question: Vitamin B12 absorption and delivery methods for treating low b12 levels?
Vitamin B12 is a water soluble vitamin and your body passes out the excess in urine, and the evidence being the bright neon color. Does the change in color happen because the vitamin has been absorbed and passed through the system, or does it mean it wasn't absorbed via the chosen delivery method. For example, someone takes 6000mcg (100,000% of daily value) in sub-lingual pill form or liquid form, and there is no neon urinary symptom, but drinks a "B monster fruit drink" with only (400%) of daily value, and noticing the bright urine color. Which is the preferred and more effective delivery system for someone who is severely deficient?Edit: I am not asking for solutions that are not specifically related to other issues, or an injection delivery method, as in this case and country, it is not a sustainable solution. However, I am curious if b12 delivered intravenously would produce the neon urine side effect. - thanks! moreOpen Question: When i'm sober, everything's good. My name is Josh, and I am a high school sophomore living in Bakersfield, California. I'm 15, but regardless of the popular perception that all teenagers are indecisive and mentally deficient, I consider myself to be moderately mature for my age. My Freshman year was one of the high points in my life. I was socializing more than normal, I was becoming very popular, and I could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and I was happy about it. I was ecstatic whenever I was around people, but I kept composure and remained polite. Going into sophomore summer I lost track with a lot of friends because of a trip I took to Louisiana. By the end of Summer, I was anxious to get back to school and reclaim my niche at the school. Something odd happened. For what seems like the better part of the year, I haven't been myself. I've been dealing with an array of personal problems, and it seems like they've gotten to me. I don't seem as strong as before, emotionally speaking.I seem less inclined to talk to people, and I'm an all around negative person to be around. I've lost self esteem and worst of all, I'm extremely jealous. I spend my day feeling sorry for myself and wondering how I could just go back, hit rewind, find any facet of relief from my depressive state. I have explained this to my mother various times and she believes that I am too young to suffer from depression, which I believe is an ignorant response, but I still love her and respect her opinion. Any suggestions? Please, I am starting to become desperate. Thank you. moreResolved Question: color blind military pilot?

Hi, I haven't had my period in 3 months and I'm not sexually active and haven't been in a year. I have also lost about 6 kg in the past 4 months suddenly after being at the same weight (within 2 kg fluctuation) for the past 2 and 1/2 years. I'm 5''7, so I'm still within the bounds of normal weight but I am 58 kg now and was about 64 kg before. My exercise is nil. Over the last 6 months I occasionally (like maybe 2 times a month) get a sudden sharp pain in my pelvic area that lasts about 20 seconds but the pain is so bad I have to curl up in a ball or lay down to wait for it to pass. I have a family history of Graves Disease (Thyroid) and very strong Diabetes history (the genetic childhood type). I have been tested recently for diabetes twice and thyroid (including an U/S) once as well general blood cultures but have found nothing. I eat well, I eat more than I used to (which was normal anyway) and don't put on weight. I had had a resurfacing of some mild acne that I used to get when I was in my early teens, though since I eat chocolate and some bad foods more than I did 6 months ago, that's probably why. My diet isn't great but I'm definitely not under eating and my weight loss is unintentional - I'm aware about the link between loss of period and weight loss. I have a large skim coffee daily, usually something like cous cous with vegetables for lunch and something like fetta/spinach ravioli for dinner. About 1/4 of the time I'll have skim milk and muesli for breakfast and I'll snack on either a couple of muesli nut/chocolate bars or fruit a day and I often have things like chocolate bars or pastries a few days a week too.. not great I know. Argh, I'm only asking here if this seems like something serious because I don't really want to go back to my GP and seem like a hypochondriac. BTW - I'm vegetarian but have been since nearly a year ago, and even then I only ate chicken occasionally.. I have always been slightly iron deficient but lately my iron levels have been fine. My dermatologist wants to test me for Vit. D defiency because I never go in the sun but I don't think that is related to all of this. moreVoting Question: how worried should i be? too soon to test?
I'm a week late on my period so I was just wondering how worried I should be if we have used protection (condom) every single time? Anyhow I'm planning to take a test if I haven't started my cycle yet by this coming weekend because I know that's the only way I'll know for sure. Next year in 9th(i'm in 8th) I want a brand new start since it's high school. Over the summer, I am going to be fully engaged in studying, etc. Over summer, I want to pass all my peers in knowledge because I am way behind. I really want to be top ten for 12th, however; my state tests are low, i'm labeled as a deficient student at learning, and I have terrible writing and reading abilities. Strange thing is, I got an extremely high I.Q score, and ever since I've been working hard expanding my knowledge, I've been unstoppable. I compare myself to a sponge-I absorb every thing. I've also been getting all A's. (teachers can not believe it, and question if I am cheating) So next year I'm being put into all General, which disappoints me allot. I told my friend about my goal-top ten- and he said, "I really don't think you will be able to make all honors classes the next 3 years for high school and complete your "top ten" goal, regardless of your diligence. Give up." (this is a big school with 2000 kids) I think I can do it, but so many people tell me I can't, thus I tell my self to give up. Do you think I can be top 10 in a school that large if I'm put in all general classes my first year. I'm ready to work to my full potential. moreResolved Question: Is my 9-month old Calcium deficient?
My baby is 9 months old, hasn't cut any teeth yet and her hair seems very slow in growing. She's also on and off a cold or congestion. This part concerns me most, that she seems to always have a cold or sounds congested. She also kinda seems rather small for her age, I don't know. I see a lot of babies her age and they are way bigger! I have a sis-in-law with an almost 2 month old baby and they are almost the same size and just are few pounds apart. She does however seem to be active and happy and eats well. She is still breast feeding too. She crawls just fine and stands up on her own (while holding on to things). I don't know what to think. Maybe I am just used to my 2 older kids development. Both cut teeth early (at least 7 months they have 2-4 teeth come in), and tons of hair. My older daughter, by 7 months, I can put her hair in pony tails. One other thing I am suspecting is that I missed a lot in taking my prenatals while pregnant and haven't took prenatals in the first 4 months after she was born. Can that be an issue? I plan to schedule her 9-month well-checkup with her Dr. to see how her growth is and ask my concerns. moreVoting Question: Please! read and critique my essay on Of Mice and Men!!!!!!!! THANKS?
Please! read and critique my essay on Of Mice and Men!!!!!!!! THANKS? My essay was to anaylze how Steinbeck uses the theme of prejudice to show different things: ESSAY There are some aspects of one’s self that cannot change. Race, gender, physical features – all unable to be altered. It can be devastating when another person judges someone on these qualities alone. A person has no control of what others really think of them. Perhaps this is what makes prejudice so terrible, the fact that it happens without anyone’s consent or control, and it is impossible to diminish by yourself. In the novel Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck expresses prejudice profusely through the characters, Crooks and Curley’s wife, by revealing how it can cause a person to feel worthless, insignificant, and lonely. Crooks, the African American stable buck, is one of the most obvious examples of how racial prejudice can intensify loneliness and make one feel as if they are minimized to nothing. The different intensities of prejudice can be perceived during this novel. For example, the other workers fear any interaction with him, and one night Crooks explains to Lennie why he does not interact with the others. “‘Cause I’m black. They play cards in there but I can’t play because I’m black. They say I stink. Well I tell you, you all stink to me’” (75). This lack of social contact has caused him to grow into an isolated and bitter individual. Crooks’s loneliness was not brought upon by himself for he is unable to interact with the others due solely to the prejudice on the farm. Also, when a person is deficient in social companions it makes one feel worthless, unimportant, and depressed. Humans need other people to thrive, and without many social connections, it can cause sadness and unbridled despair. The other characters also emanate prejudice towards him by calling him harsh names on a regular basis. When Crooks attempts to stand up for himself, Curley’s wife retaliates with “‘Listen ******, you know what I can do to you if you open your trap?’” (88). After this statement was declared, Crooks sank back into his bed and drew into himself (88), feeling utterly useless and as hollow as an empty walnut shell. This depicts how being prejudiced against can hurt someone deeply and cause substantial misery in a person. Another indication of Crooks’s loneliness due to prejudice is his residence on the farm. The other men all live together, whereas Crooks is forced to be isolated in a small shed (73), because he is African American. In his room, Crook sleeps on a “long box filled with straw” (73). This shows how he is seen as unimportant or useless because while the other men sleep on beds, Crooks is required to sleeping in a box. These many accounts of prejudice have transformed Crooks into a much different person. As a result, he became a hostile being, filled with animosity towards any person that disturbs him. Though Crooks deserves equal respect on the farm, he is not treated with fairness due to prejudice. Another prime example of prejudice is the sexual prejudice Curley’s wife endures. This prejudice induces her tremendous loneliness and feelings of inadequacy as the only woman on the farm. For example, many of the men despise her, suggesting that she is a “loo loo” (56), “rat trap” (36), tart (31, 32, 105), and “tramp” (35, 104). Since many of the others believe these stereotypes, they avoid contact with her, which contributes greatly to her loneliness. Though Curley’s wife has a very flirtatious nature, she is often judged quickly, and is usually never given the benefit of the doubt. Later in the novel, the reader can see how the prejudice affects her when she talks to Lennie in the bunkhouse “‘I get lonely… You can talk to people but I can’t talk to nobody but Curley. Else he gets mad.’” (95). The lack of social companions deepens the sorrow and lonesomeness in her and causes her to resort to seeking attention from the men. The sexual prejudice in this story not only initiates loneliness, but it causes one to be treated as it they were minimized to nothing. This novel was published in 1937, and during that time women were often seen as objects or possessions. This is evident because Curley’s wife was never given a name, and was only referred to as “Curley’s wife” or “my wife”. For example, when Curley was searching for her in the bunkhouse, he exclaimed “‘ You seen a girl around here?’” (40). This is extremely degrading to Curley’s wife because he demoted her to just a girl, rather than his wife who does possess a name. Being constantly indentified as only “Curley’s wife” reduces her to nothing, and adds to her unimportance as a woman on a farm. Many forms of prejudice can still be observed today in jobs, school, and various social situations, similar to what is seen in Of Mice and Men. Being prejudiced against can foster a storm cloud on someone’s bright horizon of the future. Not only can it obliterate hopes and dreams, bubut it can lower self-esteem and cause one to feel hopeless and alienated. Although prejudice has lessened since the time of this novel, it still predominates in our world each and every day. moreVoting Question: TTC: Vitamin D Deficiency and Infertility?

moreVoting Question: Since 1969, have there been any improvements in fish powder?
TORRY ADVISORY NOTE No. 39 Describes what fish protein concentrate (FPC) is and outlines how it is made. Gives some information on storage life, nutritive value and cost, and the potential role in reducing protein deficiency where people suffer from malnutrition. This Note was published in 1969. It is now of some historical interest providing a brief background to the intense debate of the period about the potential utility of the novel, protein-rich but energy-deficient, FPC-type A to the problem of malnutrition, yet, undoubtedly, the process was technologically successful on a commercial scale. Ten years later, it was almost universally accepted that FPC-type A was not the much heralded panacea for all nutritional problems. However, the less expensive type B with a composition very similar to fish meal and a fat content up to about 10% was found suitable for food-aid programmes in carefully selected areas of the world where the product was culturally acceptable....making of fish powder?- first response is humorous, okay. Will anyone actually answer? moreResolved Question: Is Sarah Palin mentally deficient in a number of key areas?

Reasons why I think this: - leaves yellowing at the bottom (on the tips coming inwards) - paler new growth on little baby plants which are sprouting from the top - I have never fertilised it But: - still flowering (slightly) - not had it that long - 6 months - doubt they need high nutrient levels because they grow in sandy soils - show similar symptoms when watered too much (I do let it go dry though). moreVoting Question: If a prospective manager is weak in some key area of managerment aptitude or skill, he or she?

So this is a pathetic question but I have never understood how friends are made. I suppose you can say that I have really only ever had 1 friend by my definition (my definition is someone who you hang out with/talk to out side of school/work/ or where ever you initially meet/see each other) Other wise i have never been asked to hang out, i would ask if i could come over, and i have never even been officially asked out, my relationships just happen =/ I guess my question is how does one make friends? Please keep you annoying unhelpful comments to yourself, i already feel pathetic enough for having to ask this >.<also i know that few of my past relationships were totally based on me searching for acceptance moreResolved Question: Confused about Vitamin D fatigue?
I am official Vitamin D deficient and for the past month or so I have been feeling really sluggish and have poor overall energy. I was told that Vitamin D medication takes several months to kick in and that my fatigue will likely last as long. However, I ate a handful of peanuts and within minutes noticed a moderate improvement in my energy level. Anytime I have eaten peanuts over the past few days, I suddenly find that I have sufficient energy to concentrate and don't feel as fatigued (It doesn't fully restore my energy to 100% but more like 75% - 80%. I have been taking Vitamin D supplements for about 3 weeks, going out in the sun whenever it comes out (it's winter on the east coast) but am wondering if my fatigue is due to some other deficiency in a vitamin that is found in peanuts. Is it the Vitamin D working or could I really be deficient in some other Vitamin. I can't keep eating peanuts because I will continue to gain weight. What's going on? moreResolved Question: Is AZ Job Corps a good idea?

According to the Muslim Sharia (Law), the witness of a woman is equal half that of a man, "because of the deficiency of the woman’s mind." (Bukhari vol.3 book 48 no.826 p.502) Mohammed said that a nation will never succeed that makes a woman their ruler (Bukhari vol.9 no.219 p.170-171). Eve was originally intelligent, but Allah made her [and not Adam] stupid after the fall. al-Tabari vol.1 p.280,281 A chain of transmission is "controversial" if it includes a woman. Ibn-i-Majah vol.5 no.3863 p.227. Transmission of a hadith by a woman is not as good as by a man. Sunan Nasa’i vol.1 p.84 The worst thing is not that Muslim writers would be considered male chauvinist pigs for saying that women have deficient minds. The really sad thing is that an educated Pakistani woman with a high-tech job was trying to explain to me why this was true. moreVoting Question: What the fak wrong with these two psychiatrists hhaaahh?

" Actually, if we could do that it would be good, however as a third world country we don’t have that facility. But in all other developed countries they monitor emails, telephone conversations, SMS and people in the streets. So they have a lot of monitoring systems and also all their systems are integrated. Unfortunately, ours is not. All security agencies in these countries could, by simply giving a number; can obtain all the details of a person. But we don’t have that facility and in fact we have to develop such a system." When Gotabaya has himself revealed in media more than 8 months back that Colombo is on CCTV and that all mobile, internet and landline connections have security features including banking kiosk etc. he cannot hope to come back just a few months later and say it is not so - especially since the operations were under his purview. The problem with the NIC cards that have also been funded several times but are deficient is also a direct fault of his as apparently now he is stating that service does not come under the Home Office but again through his ministry. Before there is additional funding or materials available for this the implementation of the 17th amendment is needed to see where these funds went. Through SLBC, the state media apparatus, the needed connections were made intraisland and there is no further requirement for such as the entirety of Colombo has been complaining about how the utterly illegal practices of Gotabaya using these services to conduct personal vendettas has been complained about repeatedly. http://transcurrents.com/tc/2010/02/we_have_been_very_successful_i.html If valuable information has been obtained through KP then that information should be appropriately shared with "western" security apparatus such as Interpol and there must be a real brain drain at the Rajapaksa camp because after they have been told repeatedly what the correct process was to gain such assistance or information they still neither follow procedure or provide information in a manner that is acceptable to Interpol. Calling this western based racism is just a pat excuse for not properly formatting information to continue to hide people that the Rajapaksa administration does not want to be found such as key individuals involved in the Seylan/Gold Key/SLIC scams. moreResolved Question: Geeky and friend deficient in high school.?

I am vitamin D deficient, and I started taking 1000units today, and I took my first pill a while ago and I feel EXHAUSTED... it's only 8:30 .. not even enough energy to finish my 2000 word essay [1000 done..] Is this normal? Thanks moreVoting Question: Own a house, but boyfriend won't move in. Why?
My brother and I own a house, hoping to sell later. I currently live in it, brother lives out of state. I pay my brother "rent" every month which goes toward part of the mortgage, which he takes care of. Rent doesn't cover the entire mortgage payment, so my brother puts in quite a bit extra each month. My long-distance bf has been planning to move over to this area (currently looking for a job here), but he refuses to move into my house and pay rent toward to help cover the rest. He thinks it would be "mixing family with business." I see it differently; I really don't think it's business. It's called having to pay a mortgage. Any little bit toward the deficiency would help. He thinks that since we can apparently "afford" to pay the deficient amount, he shouldn't be asked to help pay anything. This is causing a huge problem in our relationship, because the only way he'll be satisfied is if we move into another place that isn't owned by us. To me, this makes zero sense. Why should I pay someone else's mortgage when I already own a place? Not to mention it's quite a compromise for me to move out of a place I already like and have invested in, and to have to find new renters. Does my bf's mentality make any sense? I respect it, but I don't understand it. Whenever I ask him to explain, he gets really angry. Thanks. moreTop Deficient Links
