Resolved Question: Is anaemia hereditary? Is there any way you can test for it at home? or must you visit your GP?
I went to the doctor's several months ago, with regards to small persistant cuts at the corners of my mouth (angular cheilitis). The doctor said it could possibly be a vitamin deficiency or perhaps something more serious, but he advised me to keep taking my multi-vitamin as he didn't think anything else was likely. My mum is anaemic, and my dad was as well (although he has recently had his iron levels checked and they were ok). I have been reading up on the net, as these cuts still keep reappearing, and in addition to that, I also have dark circles under my eyes, and am sometimes bothered with tiredness - both of which are additional symptoms to anaemia. I also have quite heavy periods. I don't like bothering the doctor in case I'm just being my usual hyperchondriac (i.e. I don't want to go to him and announce that I think I'm anaemic & have diagnosed myself). I'm just wondering if it is any more likely that I might have it due to my parents both having it. moreResolved Question: What are the symptoms of mild deficiency of vitamin E?

I've just been told (after having a blood test last week) that I have a vitamin B deficiency. My mum said that I need to start eating more eggs and more red meat. However, I sometimes have eggs for breakfast (i.e. once a week) and I eat red meat twice a week. She also told me to press my nail - if it doesn't turn back to pink quickly, then I do have a vitamin B deficiency. Again, however, it turned back to pink quite quickly. I don't feel ill in any way, yet they also said it could be anaemia. Have they misdiagnosed me? If not, what can I do in the meantime to make up for the vitamin loss? moreResolved Question: Hair loss caused by vitamin deficiency.?
