Open Question: Iron deficiency has got anything to do with the weakness of the tongue?
moreOpen Question: Why am I always sick?
I have iron deficiency anemia and asthma, but I am on medication for both and I don't think that those account for everything that's wrong with me. I am constantly tired, despite my iron pills. I come home everyday and do nothing but sleep and I hate to go out on weekends because I'm always tired. I'm really weak and it's getting hard to carry little things, like my book bag or my laptop. I no longer have an appetite. I'll randomly get dizzy, mostly when I stand/sit up. And there are little things that come and go. On any given day I'll have a stomach ache, headache, and/or feel nauseous. In the past couple of weeks everything has just gotten worse. And I don't know if this is relevant, but in the past couple of weeks my skin has become really dry and I get rashes for no apparent reason. Is there anything I can do for this? Thank you. moreOpen Question: iron deficiency.............?

I was recently talking with a friend about public resistance to new ideas, who suggested that technophobia intensifies when the thing being engineered is actually one’s physical body or even mind. So I’ve come up with a little list of hypothetical future options (on what I imagine to be a sliding scale, with more people agreeing with the upper options than the lower). Assuming that you’re in a time where these procedures are well-tested and where there aren’t any serious side effects to them other than the stated purpose (and the obvious consequences of that), which would you be open to, and which would you be squeamish about? •You’ve gotten a map of your genes, and genetic diseases ranging from the severe to the trivial are well-understood and several of them pop up in your genetic code (perhaps a tendency toward young Alzheimer’s, a genetic difficulty with obesity, a genetic iron deficiency, and other such undesirables). A cheap, easy and effective blanket treatment is available, which will cure all of these things, but which does so by irrevocably changing your DNA from what it is naturally. •You’ve gotten a map of your genes, and genes coding for certain desirable traits are well-understood and can be effectively and safely inserted into your own DNA (perhaps a better metabolism for a naturally fitter figure, an ideal complexion, a knack for math and logic, and other such desirables). Of course, inserting any of these codes into your genes fundamentally changes your DNA, replacing the old, less-desirable codes you had naturally. •You’ve lost a limb, perhaps in an industrial accident or perhaps in combat. A procedure for taking your genes and growing a replacement limb is available, and this procedure always leaves patients back fully intact with a completely reintegrated limb in a few months. •You’ve lost a limb, perhaps in an industrial accident or perhaps in combat. A robotic prosthetic that can be directly interfaced with your brain is available, which after physical therapy interfaces with your body as fluidly and naturally as your old limb did, and is actually more powerful, more precise and less fragile than biological limbs. •You haven’t lost any limbs, but the above procedure is easily within your budget and could be used to give you additional limbs (four arms, anyone – maybe a prehensile tail?). •A cheap, abundant, side-effect-free and non-addictive drug is developed that allows you to exert a strong level of control over your metabolism, greatly accelerating the effects of common exercise as well as expanding its potential limits (think steroids or a weight-loss supplement, but without the negative side-effects). •A cheap, abundant, side-effect-free and non-addictive drug is developed that dramatically increases your mental speed, memory, and intelligence (think ginkgo, methamphetamines, and a few other things with high effectiveness and none of the negative side-effects). •A cheap, abundant, side-effect-free and non-addictive drug is developed that effectively removes all the traumatic effects of negative neurological and psychological responses to things (e.g. pain, hunger, cold, fear, disgust, grief, etc.) – while your body maintains the ability to detect all of these things, the sensations associated with them are no longer independently traumatic (e.g. you are still just as instantly aware that you just got a papercut – it’s just that it no longer ‘stings’). Which of these would you be open to? Which would you avoid? moreOpen Question: Could anyone help with these symptoms?
why is is that whenever I stop taking iron supplements, my blood pressure goes up, heart rate increases, and my temperature increases likewise? So can my symptoms be diagnosed as iron deficiency anemia? moreOpen Question: Symptoms of iron deficiency/anemia?
My mom thinks I may have an iron deficiency or be anemic. I get head rush ALL THE TIME, even if I stand up slowly. It makes my ears ring and my eyesight go all fuzzy, and makes me feel like I'm going to vomit or pass out. It gets so bad that it causes me to fall over sometimes, and yesterday I actually blacked out for a few seconds because of it. I also took a blood pressure test, and my resting heart rate was way higher than it should be (and I'm not obese or anything). Should I see a doctor, or try taking some iron supplements? moreOpen Question: Can iron deficiency (anemia) cause yeast infections?
I was just wondering if this was possible..thanks ahead of time.Thank you so much--you don't even know how much of a relief it is to hear this could be my issue. moreOpen Question: Is this iron deficiency...?
The doctors diagnosed it as VCD (Vocal Cord Dysfunction) but I seriously doubt it... For the past month I've been having trouble breathing- it feels as if I can't get a deep breath. An inhaler didn't help, and when I went to the doctor to take the lung breathing test, it was normal (which means I don't have asthma) and my blood saturation level is 98%. I've been hallucinating at night, and it's starting to happen during the day as well. Sometimes my left lung starts hurting sharply or it will ache. Sometimes it'll feel as if my face goes numb, and the muscles feel as if they're frozen. If I touch my face, I can't feel it at times. I've been feeling really sluggish and slow lately- as if everything I do I must take my time to do. I've been feeling out of it- like I'm far away, then suddenly I'll feel as if I'm too close, and everything is going right through me. During the night I've been getting these illusions of something that's lurking in the shadows, and I hallucinate that they're there. However, a few months ago, about October, I've stopped taking my multi-vitamin because it made my muscles feel fatigued when I ran. In December is when all this started, and just a few weeks ago is when the hallucinations have been happening. On a whim, a few days ago I started taking my multi-vitamin, and it did seem to help- except for the pain in my lung, and when I forgot a few days ago, the hallucinations and such happened again. When I took the vitamin it helped, but didn't fully elliminate the symtoms. I'm pretty active, and run for half an hour each day and 2 times a week I do a martial arts, so I'm not out of shape or anything. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for any help! moreResolved Question: Random Bruises on my legs and not feeling so good?
Over the past few months i have had many bruises just randomly appear all over my legs. Currently i have about 6 bruises. Some bruises are big but most are about the size of a $1 coin. I have also felt very fatigued all the time, have had a slight temperature, feel very weak and had body aches and pains a lot. Could my iron deficiency have something to do with all this? Or can it also be something else? moreVoting Question: Severe pariod pain...?
I started my period around 12/13 and am currently a month away from being 17. I don't smoke and rarely drink. Except for mefenamic acid for my periods, the only other tablet medication I am on is iron tablets due to my iron deficiency. I used to be on the pill, but this began affecting my hair so I decided to stop taking them, although they never helped with the pain anyway.. Recently they have begun to regulate properly, and I'm on for the whole week. The pain wasn't that bad in the beginning but has got progressively worse as time has gone on. When I'm on, it starts with slight cramping the week before, then on the actual day an ache, butthis then turns into almost unbearable pain. Some of the things I experience include but are not limited to: vomiting, shaking and sweating, being unable to move, diarrhea, feeling like I'm going to collapse... I have previously had key hole surgery in which I've been told that they couldn't find anything that was wrong, but I don't understand how I can be in this much pain with nothing wrong :/ I also have 500mg mefenamic tablets, which I double up on and take throughout the days I'm on, and combine with other pain killers etc because I just can't deal with the pain anymore, but even that still doesn't make it completely stop. I'm also worried because it's effectively starting to ruin my school life where I have to take time off every month. I'm going back to see a gynecologist in a few weeks, but in the meantime does anybody have any advice/opinions/ideas? It would really be appreciated, thanks x moreResolved Question: can iron deficiency be related to tooth decay?

When I was a little kid id suck on the metal hooks of hangers because I liked the taste of metal. Recently I've had really strong cravings for metal. I'd also like to add that I've been a vegetarian for a year and a few months, so could it be a result of an iron deficiency? I'm 17 years old, 5'5 and 122 pounds (not sure if this matters at all) and I found out a few years ago that I'm anemic.. Later on my family doctor had told me that it was due to my heavy periods and had to be put on birth control and iron pills. In October of this year (2009) I had to be put on a heart monitor (because I pass out for no reason and they think it has to do with my heart) and while there I asked about my iron levels... Well my doctor said I was a low normal (7 was my iron level) and told me I could go off of my iron pills.. and I also got a year prescription of the birth control which finally worked for me and the pharmacy gave me a different kind then was on the perscription? Ever since I got off the iron pills and off the birth control (because it didnt work so I just stopped taking them) I've gone back to being tired ALOT.. I can be up for like 6 hours a day and then sleep the rest and I've been passing out alot more. I was just wondering if there is anything else I can do about the Anemia and the periods they are very heavy and painful.. I'd rate it a 9-10 off of birth control (my mom was also like that when she was young and grew out of it.. But I've been like this for 3 years now)My reason for doing this is to get some ideas to bring up to my doctor.. I've been over this to my doctor and all he does is says I'll have to get use to it.. moreResolved Question: good multi vitamin, with iron and calcium for young adult female.?

Help?
Hello, I just feel a bit upset because my best friend has twin foster siblings (both around 15 months old) lets call them Jane and John. Now they are in foster care because of neglect from theyre parents (never let them out of theyre car seat, never changed theyre diapers, etc.) Now the twins have been with my friend's family since they were 9 months old. At 9 months old they could hardly sit up on theyre own because of the neglect from their parents. Now at 15 months old they are walking and even starting to run! John; allergic to milk, heart murmor, iron deficiency, has series medical issues. Well, now the judge has decided to give the twins back to their biological parents. So on one 3 day visit to their parents, John came back with blister, skin bubling, burns from sitting in his own urine. AKA they never changed his diaper for the 3 days. The parents disregard the fact John is allergic to milk and feed him milk. By the way, their biological mother has had 2 other sons she gave up custody to her parents just a year or two back. The mother has said on many occasions "I finally have my little princess." Oddly enough, Jane comes back perfectly fine. DSS knows all about John's burns and yet they are still schedualed to go back in less than a month....I am severly upset about this. But Im only 14, what can I do? Help? They did. They called the police twice, and DSS 7 times. Nothing helped. moreResolved Question: Bowel cancer..Am i being paranoid?
Hi, Basically just wondering if anyone can help, im going out of my mind. When I went to university in september ive been getting stomach pains and inconsistent bowel movements so i got worried and whent dr's he told me its probably because your body isnt use to going toilet there. Thus he said i most likely have IBS. However a month or so before hand in august i had a blood test for another reason but it came back that i have iron deficiency anemia. So now i'm on christmas break ive noticed pain is much less and bowel movements are normal. Despite this looking at all the google searches it says IBS and iron anemia together isn't a good sign and i always feel tired especially my eyes. I recently posed that question to the dr to and he believed poor diet and excess tea drinking is most likely the cause and dont get worried about what you read on the internet. Anyone got any advise they can share? i'm going crazy everyday thinking about it :( I cant even do my work and revise for tests because im full of worry, thanks moreResolved Question: Would re-taking Zinc with B6 as an adult be beneficial to mental clarity and health?

So, when I woke up, I wanted some tomato, well, anything. I found a can of Progresso tomato soup in the cabinet and ate it. Afterward, I felt superb! I felt cheerful and and pleasant. My ears feel warm. Even my brain seem to be working faster. So, because this was such an unexpected boost to my mood, I thought about it and remembered that the body can crave tomatoes if it's lacking in iron. So, good people of Yahoo Answers, is it just a coincidence and really good soup or does it sound like I have/had low iron levels? I started feeling this way about 5-10 minutes after I started eating. Is that even enough time to the body to do anything with the food? It seems so quick.Well, usually my breathing is kind of shallow and I do feel tired and horrible most the time.
